Ther is a big red cross on my itunes

recentlz i was asked to reset my ipod classic 160gb. so i did. now it wont reconnect to the computer and it switches between having a big red cross on the front with the weblink to the supportwebsite and the notification that i have to reset the ipod but i cant do anything othereise because as sewn as as those slides are shown, the ipod turns off again.how am i supposed to reset my ipod if it wnt connect?pls help

It sounds like however you did your clone really
didn't work right. The mdimporters should be here:
PB 17 2005 2GB   Mac OS X (10.4.5)
They're there. I can see them. They're just either "disabled or broken," as the error message says.
What I want to know is how to fix them or replace them.
I suppose in the end, if nothing works, I will have to give up Foxtrot and Spotlight because EasyFind can do the job of both of them ... without hogging my system with 'mdimport'.
Spotlight and Safari can hog 80% of my CPU resources when operative.

there is a big red x on my screen and i cant turn it on

    Hello, jmwadd.
I'd start with trying to restore the iPod via iTunes while the iPod is in disk mode. Refer to the following article for further information.

  • The dreaded red cross

So i was on the hellish night bus the other night merrily settling down to retreat to music world when, although my ipod looked to be playing music as usual, nothing was coming through the headphones. After wrestling with these for some time, i decided to reset my ipod, in case that was the problem. Then, this big red cross appears and it won't go any further.
On looking at the support page it says i need to put the ipod into disk mode in order to restore it - the only problem is no matter how many times i try it won't go into disk mode. The advice on the support page if this happens is to either request online help (I can't as i'm out of warranty), or drop into a 'genius bar'. The last time i went to one of these places the staff were useless and offered little by way of specialist assistance. Does anybody have any suggestions about what's wrong and anything i can do, or is it terminal?
It was fine till that point, no signs of any problems at all.

I may have spoken too soon. I come with my tail between my legs.
Basically, i think my ipod's had it. I just wondered if anybody might be able to provide a bit of advice before i proceed. After i hurled it at the desk it seemed to be fine. But then i noticed it was sticking a lot, taking its time to do things on occasion. Then i went and did the stupid thing and restored it, and now itunes can't sync to it. Sometimes it recognises it but when it starts trying to copy songs over and sync it fails and comes up with an error message saying 'failure to copy to drive etc...' and 'delay write failed'. And the ipoc just clicks/chirps away over and over. Even if i restore or go into disk mode (which i still can).
No sad face though, and the thing still works, it just won't sync.
Does this sound like the hard drive is knackered and needs replacing?
I dismantled it just now and can't see any obvious broken connections.

  • Why is there a big red X on one frame of my FCPX export?

I exported this twice and both times on ONE frame there is a giant red X over the frame. This wasn't there in FCPX, just in the export. Why?  How do we fix this?

You should be posting this in Final Cut Pro X forum, located here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/professional_applications/final_cut_pro_ x
but an X like that is usually the result of applying an effect, that has not been fully licensed, to the clip, so the effect applies a watermark X.

  • FEBA :Banking: Red Cross on bank statement upload

    Hello Gurus,
I am facing a strange behaviour in electronic bank statement uploads.
The file is uploaded in the system and its shown as Red cross. There are no transactions in the bank statement and the opening and closing balances are same.
There is no activity in the bank account and still on loading the satement it shows a Red Cross for file loaded on June 20th.
The file coming on June23rd is loaded successfully and has a green checkbox where again there were no transactions and opening and closing balances are tallied.
I dont see any value or sign difference. I checked other threads but couldnt get solution and had to open a new discussion
Any thoughts on how we can change the red cross to Green Tick. SAP instance is on ECC 6.0.
    Any utility to be developed?
    Regards
    Rutvij

    Hello Rutvij,
FEBAN - give Co.code, house bank, account id, statement date and statement nubmer.
If it is outgoing payment then go to statement items i con in top side of that screen. Then click post option.
In the next screen click on payment order because if you want to clear invoices based on payment orders or click either reference or document number in additional selections tab. And then give your co.code and account type. If required, put additional selection like amount, reference, etc in additonal selections tab.
Press enter and then select open items to be cleared and then save.
Now SAP will display all open invoices against the customers. Activate the invoices that must be cleared. Simulate document. Now enter the payment amount and press enter.
Enter once again in the next screen then press save. Now you will get a message saying that document got posted with no.xxxx in co.code
I hope it will resolve your issue else revert us with your query.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • I got a big red X on my iPod that won't go away! Help!

So yes, l do have this big red X on my iPod (l'm thinking this is like red ring on an Xbox 360), and no matter how many times i reset it, it won't go away.
I'm thinking this time is no trick, it's messed up. What can i do?
    - l did try and connect it to my computer, but it resets, and shows the red X again. It's not even showing up on iTunes, so i can't restore it.
    What should i do?!
    - It also shows the website "www.apple.com/support/ipod", and when i go there,
    it does nothing for me.

  • TS1382 My ipod won't reset, tried ALL the steps several times. The 'red cross' always appears, any suggestions?

I have tried to restore this to disc mode as suggested in the apple help section but it doesn't work.
The red cross inside a red circle, with the apple web address at the bottom, keeps returning.
Anything else I can try, or is it a costly repair shop I need?

    That symbol,
is also known as the Fatal Red X, which mean that your iPod Hardisk is dying, cannot be booted up or dead. There is nothing much  we can suggest here except read this Apple support Article or  to send your iPod in to Apple Store or any 3rd Party iPod Repair vendor, for a replacement.

  • Satellite C660D-1GD: no sound and Red Cross over speaker

Just turned on my Laptop, Satellite C660D - 1GD and my sound isn't working.
There is a red cross over the speaker and the diagnosis didn't help at all.
Tried a system restore, nothing - no change at all. Tried going through the system drivers and there is no driver for sound :o. Ok, came to this site, downloaded the correct driver, installed and restarted and nothing again :s .
Updated the BIOS and then went into and checked the BIOS, and even checked for simple sound to just have my time wasted. Any help would be great.
    Thanks in advance.

    _Firstly:_
Did you check if mute isnt enabled?
Press FN + ESC to enable or disable mute
    _Secondly:_
Go to control panel -> sound -> Playback tab
Check if the devices in the playback tab are activated and set as default device
Additionally click right to ensure that options are marked like; show hidden devices, show disabled devices
    _Thirdly:_
The sound card is from Realtek.
So you can download the Realtek HD audio driver from Realtek driver page
Before installing new driver, uninstall installed Realtek driver from control panel -> programs & features

  • The applet fails to load. with 'red cross' screen JVM 1.6.19 and above

After updating the JVM to one of the latest version 1.6 builds, our users started to experience a problem with opening java applets.
All the users have JVM versions 1.6.0_19 – 1.6.0_26 on Windows 7/2008. The browser is IE8. On the server usually there is IIS7, with ‘Integrated Windows authentication’
on applet’s virtual folder. Applet’s classes are packaged into a signed JAR file. Both the client and the server are located in the same local area network with no proxy or firewall between them.
The applet’s website usually belongs to the trusted security zone. When loaded, the applet establishes HTTP connection to the server to get the necessary data.
When the user tries to open an HTML page containing the applet, there can be the following scenarios:
    1.     The applet fails to load. We’re getting a ‘red cross’ screen. All the HTML elements except of the applet are loaded OK.
From the IIS log we can see that the loading of the JAR file failed with the error code 401, the user name field in the log for the JAR is empty.
    2.     The java asks for the user name and password showing a popup ‘Authentication required’. At this moment we can see the following message in the Java console:
    network: Firewall authentication: site=/XX.XX.XX.XX:XX, protocol=http, prompt=, scheme=ntlm
If the user enters the correct credentials, the applet loads OK. Even if the user checks the ‘Save the password in your password list’ checkbox, Java continues to ask for credentials
on every page reload. It’s worth to note that the company’s external firewall doesn’t get any requests from the applet.
The problems happen even when the client and the server are located on the same machine, but never happens when we use localhost as the server name in the page URL.
During investigations we found out the following workarounds:
    1.     Enabling anonymous authentication on the virtual folder always solves the problem.
    2.     Sometimes, changing security zone from ‘Trusted’ to ‘Local intranet’ solves the scenario 2 (‘Authentication required’ popup) problem.
It’s worth to note that changing the security zone never helps if the page URL contains dots (for example, uses IP address instead the server name).
    3.     Upgrading to IE9 solves the scenario 2 problem partly: Java asks for the credentials only once.

I have the same issue. I use single sign-on with IIS 7 and Integrated Window authentication on the tomcat virtual folder. The applet jar file is on the root directory of the web application (the same level of index.html). So I use '.' as the code_base to call the applet from javascript.
So when I launch my web application into a browser, the auto-connection is successfully performed (single sign-on through Upstream, kerberos, remote_user, ...). But when I want to launch the applet in the web application, a new authentication panel (red panel with "authentication required") occurs in order to set credentials (login, password, domain) with the message in the java applet console:
    "network: Firewall authentication: site=myApplicationUrl, protocol=http, prompt=, scheme=ntlm"
So why the applet doesn't inherit previous credentials in this case ??
Have you solved this problem ?
    Thanks

  • New 80GB ipod - red cross with support website

    Hi
I was connecting my new ipod (only 3 weeks old) to my macbook leopard when suddenly a red cross symbol came up on the screen with the address of the mac support website at the bottom. I went to the website and it suggested I put it in disk mode. The apple sign came up as described - but straight after I toggled the hold button not roughly six seconds after holding the select and menu button as it suggested. Next when I tried to switch 'immediately' to the select and play button, it returns to the red cross with the web address - not to the disk mode screen.
I have tried holding them down for different lengths of time, swapping quicker and faster etc but no change. If I repeat holding the select and menu buttons then the apple symbol goes away momentarily and comes back.
Im on holiday at the moment - so if theres nothing to do but send it off to be fixed then it means Im without my ipod for the long traveling hours - the reason I bought it when I did - only 3 weeks ago - I hadnt expected it to break so soon. I also have a macbook and before that had an ibook and they both had early problems. I am always conflicted with apple - they make the best most advanced and creative products but they are always flawed and undurable - quick to break and succumb to errors. I am starting to think that I may just slum it out with pc in future - it may be better in the long term.
Ironically enough Im not even sure if I kept the HMV receipt at home = I really should have learned after past experiences with apple products. If anyone could save me the hassle and money of paying for repair (if I cant find the proof of purchase) by suggesting another way to fix it for the rest of my journey - I would really appreciate it!
    THANKS :)*

Ok researched online and managed to get it in Diagnostics mode.
Ran a test on HDD Specs and HD Smart Data - both resulted in "Error! Diag Halt" flashing across the bottom of the screen.

  • Materialized view showing red cross in front of it in SQL developer

we created a materialized view in oracle database,it works fine, and other views that select on  it return results and work fine too. But it has a red cross in front of it in oracle developer.
I then refresh the view, or recreate the view, it shows green, but after a while when I come back, the red cross show up again.
What does it mean, any error message we can find?

It means your system is working NORMALLY! There is no 'error message' to find because there is no error. What you describe is EXACTLY how MVs are designed to work.
It is NORMAL for MVs to be, and to become, invalid, especially if there refresh setting is ON DEMAND. Don't confuse 'validity' with 'staleness'; they are very different things.
See the section 'Invalidating Materialized Views' in the Data Warehousing Guide'
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28313/advmv.htm#i1007082
    Invalidating Materialized Views
Dependencies related to materialized views are automatically maintained to ensure correct operation. When a materialized view is created, the materialized view depends on the detail tables referenced in its definition. Any DML operation, such as an INSERT, or DELETE, UPDATE, or DDL operation on any dependency in the materialized view will cause it to become invalid. To revalidate a materialized view, use the ALTER MATERIALIZED VIEW COMPILE statement.
A materialized view is automatically revalidated when it is referenced. In many cases, the materialized view will be successfully and transparently revalidated. However, if a column has been dropped in a table referenced by a materialized view or the owner of the materialized view did not have one of the query rewrite privileges and that privilege has now been granted to the owner, you should use the following statement to revalidate the materialized view:
    ALTER MATERIALIZED VIEW mview_name COMPILE;
The state of a materialized view can be checked by querying the data dictionary views USER_MVIEWS or ALL_MVIEWS. The column STALENESS will show one of the values FRESH, STALE, UNUSABLE, UNKNOWN, UNDEFINED, or NEEDS_COMPILE to indicate whether the materialized view can be used. The state is maintained automatically. However, if the staleness of a materialized view is marked as NEEDS_COMPILE, you could issue an ALTER MATERIALIZED VIEW ... COMPILE statement to validate the materialized view and get the correct staleness state. If the state of a materialized view is UNUSABLE, you must perform a complete refresh to bring the materialized view back to the FRESH state. If the materialized view is based on a prebuilt table that you never refresh, you will need to drop and re-create the materialized view.
As the doc states Oracle will normally 'revalidate' an MV when it is referenced. You can do this manually by using 'ALTER . . . COMPILE'. For an ON DEMAND MV compiling it will NOT alter the contents of the MV - it may stil be STALE.
You don't need to REFRESH or recreate the MV to make it valid; just recompile it. If it doesn't become VALID after you compile it then there is usually an issue with one of the dependent objects that you need to resolve.

  • Import Wizard Error: Big Red X

I'm using SQL Server 2012 Management Studio. I'm trying to import a .xlsx file into a database that I full permissions to.  I successfully imported two smaller (~70mb) files and am now working on a larger file of 171mb. When I choose the data source
and hit Next, the wizard sits and hangs for a bit, and then displays an error screen where the "Additional Information" is just a big red X on a white background. This has happened twice.
    Aaron Jarboe

Well I think it is difficult to suggest on the issue without having any issue description.
However my focus will be towards the source field datatypes and destination field datatypes. For instance if you have datetime string field not in proper format and we are trying to import to a SQL column whose datatype is datetime or date, there we may
have errors. Moreover excel file may contain unicode characters which can create additional problem while importing.
Therefore we can try converting the excel format to plain text(tab/csv). Or you may import all the source fields as string datatype and spcifying as string datatype in SQL destination table. Finally you may identify whether it is due to datetime format
    or not.
Make sure that you have enough field size in the destination table.

  • Red Cross and connect to itunes

Red cross appear suddenly yesterday, I did all the tuto : ipod not connected to computer, hold on/off, menu+select, when apple logo appear select+play... then I got the cable image and instructions "connect to itunes to restore". But when I connect cable to my ipod and my computer (MacPro) with itunes open the red cross come back. I tryed to change USB port directly on my Mac, used a brand new cable but nothing change, the red cross come back again and again when I connect my ipod to my computer and itunes don't recognize it.
I read all solutions in support but nothing work, all I can have is the "red cross" screen when i'm connected or the "connect to itunes to restore" screen when i'm not connected.
Sry for my English and please HELP ME.

Its been happening to a LOTTTTT of people, myself included! lol.
Apparently there's something wrong with the new Apple update, however Apple won't respond themsevles!!!
What i did was download and install iTunes on a different computer, then connected my Ipod Touch and restored and updated it. Then when i plugged it back into my own computer, it restored all my apps and music, and that seemed (at the minute lol) to solve the problem.
    Hope that helps?

    please dont say it is!

    please help

That's super odd. It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.
