"There has been a network or file permission error. The network connection may have been lost

Hi,
While trying to save an Excel or (less frequently) Word document, employees at my company have been seeing the error, "There has been a network or
file permission error. The network connection may have been lost."  This is more common when they are connected through the VPN, but it also occurs locally.
The employees all have Win 7 Pro laptops and the file server is Win Server 2008 R2.  I have found suggestions that a Windows update is the cause, but the articles on that all limit it to Server 2003.  Others have suggested setting the program to
save a local copy of remote files; however, while the setting exists in Word, it does not exist in Excel.
If anybody has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

This is a known issue, might try the workaround is a better chooses .

  • There has been a network or file permission error. The network connection..

    hello,
there has been a network or file permission error. The network connection may be lost.
this is the error my client gets sometimes when he wants to save a word document.
when i go in the finder i have no problem accessing that network share, and when i look up the file and check the permissions there is no reason why this error should occure.
    situation :
    1 os 10.3.9 server
    7 os 10.5.5 clients
    1 os 10.3.9 client
office 2004 for mac (version 11.50)
there are 2 10.5.5 clients (emacs) with this problem on a regular base (3-5 times a week). One imac 17" 10.5.5 has this once a month.
it is a wired cat5 network.
any idea what could cause this problem?
    thanks
    Marco

I found a logical explanation on the following site : http://www.makemacwork.com/office-2004-wont-save-to-server.htm , I am gonna try the steps they describe and post back the result.

  • Network of file permission error.

"There has been a network of file permission error. The network connection may be lost."
This is happening only in the afternoon (after 12 noon) on someones machine with Word.
We got him a brand new machine, deleted and recreated his user account on the server but it still happens when he re-opens and saves a document. He can only save it to his desktop and then drag it to the server.
We used Migration assistant to transfer files. Haven't tried a new user account on his actual machine yet, but it's very strange. Others using Word are not having this problem.
We have an Apple RAID server and a Windows server and he can't save to either one directly after about noon cst?

I'm having the same problem with an Intel iMac. The user has a network account and has been having several strange account/permission issues like this. And we have deleted and recreated her account to no avail.
Any luck figuring out what's going on or what the solution is?

    Hi There!
I have created one package (1) to import data from Flatfile(csv), (2)Clean It  then (3)send clean rows to SQL Database.
This package was working fine before. Since I have decided to deploy this package to automate this process, I have no clue what went wrong but this doesn't run anymore. Flatfile and Database are on same windows box. We are running SQL 2008.I
have attached some screenshot to make this conversation more concise.

    Hi All
I have searched to forum for similar issues, but none seem to apply to the errors I get in the CDS log.
When try-ing to view the Orgchart, in the Orgchart Console I get the following message "Cannot find the root of your orgchart. The orgchart box may have been deleted or incorrectly specified."

    Hi Spike,
There could be a number of reasons why the PositionEmpHierarchy table has not been created. My advice is to run an extract and then run each line of your join statements in your DB. This will highlight where the problem lies.
    Good luck!

  • Java.lang.SecurityException: The SunJCE provider may have been tampered.

    Hello all,
I am getting this exception :
java.lang.SecurityException: The SunJCE provider may have been tampered.
         at com.sun.crypto.provider.DESedeKeyFactory.<init>(DashoA6275)
while running a java application (not written by me), which apparently is trying to encrypt a byte array at this point.
Does this ring a bell for any one ?
I am using j2sdk1.4.2_08, after having to uninstall j2sdk1.4.2_10 due to some other problems with this release.
    Thank you,
    Vince

Using JDK1.6 you should not need to have sunjce_provider.jar or jce1_2_2.jar in the lib directory. The Sun provider comes as part of JDK1.6 and ALL applications pick it up automatically.

    No.
Uninstall the app and write a review of your experience with it. Be specific, including the developer's apparent disinterest in addressing your concerns. Reviews are the only means by which prospective purchasers can evaluate an app.
There are likely to be plenty of better ones available.
My gut says something is on my phone and they interfere in my everyday life.
Other than the app itself, that's unlikely. The app itself is probably junk. If you believe the app is inappropriate for whatever reason, consider bringing it to Apple's attention. To do that read how to report a problem with your purchase.
Social networking apps including dating apps are by far the most common means of extracting personal information from you, to be used for any conceivable purpose. There is no guarantee some of them might not simply get it wrong, either intentionally or otherwise.

I got error 8 File permission error while building executable for a RT. It happened always after build, I mean new startup.rtexe and startup.alias files have been created. At the build properties, it was set use default .alias file.

    Hi DanielAllis,
Like mentioned earlier, there is most likely an application on the internet that you can find and use where you can see what processes are calling specific files or folders to see if that specific file is being used by anything else.  It doesn't sound like this is the root of your problem, but it couldn't hurt to check.  Also, I have seen a similar problem to this with someone who was using the software Subversion and Tortoise with their application.  I am not familiar with this software in particular, but I have attached a link below that goes through the steps that this other person took to try and fix the same error when having this software on their computer.  Let me know if any of this helps!

    Hi Wendy Fu,
Thanks for your feed back. I could see Microsoft.ReportViewer.ProcessingObjectModel.dll to add as reference to my project. Actually I can open generated rdlc in designer, at run time I get error. I could not make out where is the exact mistake out of three
    options flashed.

My web config has following references
    <add assembly="Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845DCD8080CC91"/>
    <add assembly="Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845DCD8080CC91"/>
May be I have to change these versions to 9 or 10.
    First I will try adding Microsoft.ReportViewer.ProcessingObjectModel.dll .
    Once thanks for your reply.

  • I have an Iphone 4s which I bought used, its unlocked and i put it on T-mobile. I see that the person who was using it before may have been Chinese, my computer is not recognizing it and itunes either. What can i do?

I want to Delete everything in it, but since it cannot be recognized by my computer and doesn't show on Itunes, I cannot do it. It has some a jailbreak which the last user put into it, might be Redsnow, and most of the app's and other stuff on the phone I cannot use it only says loading after I press it and then dissappears. The last user may have been Chinese, in which he put a chinese jailbreak and since i changed the language etc. of the iphone some things show up as little squares instead of normal english format. Please Help, Ive been looking all over google etc. and tried to fix it myself but nothing has worked.

I have the same problem with my 4S too, if the slider won't even let you slide, the it's most likely that the WiFi module inside the phone is broken
Take your phone to a Apple store and let them see if I'm correct
This is a common issue found only on 4S, Apple gave me a new 4S because of this

  • Error: Data may have been lost

    Hi All,
I have a typically issue with the crystal reports 8.5.
    Below is details :
I have application which is built using ms access and crystal reports 8.5
When i run the application and download the reports in the form of excel,  i get a error saying that data may have been lost when i open the excel file. This happens only when i open the excel file in excel 2003 service pack 3, when contacted microsoft they said that this is a issue with the crystal report and not with the excel.
So does any one have a idea how this issue can me resolved.
    Thanks in advance.

How many records (rows) and columns are you exporting to Excel?
Excel does have limits on both.....AND if you check the supported platforms document for CR8.5 you will notice that Excel 2003 is not supported.  May be time to move up to a newer version of CR.
