There is a function in Firefox that is resizing my images automatically. How do I turn it off?

When my high speed internet provider no longer allowed the use of Internet Explorer 9 on there @optonline.net web site I had a choice of Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. I chose to use Mozilla Firefox. I immediately noticed that my pictures were being cropped and that's outgoing and incoming pictures and my screesaver picture was also cropped.
This is very annoying and it makes it difficult to communicate. I was told by my high speed internet provider Optimum looked up the issue and she told me there was nothing she could fix because it had to do with an automatic "resizing" feature of Mozilla Firefox.
This past Weds. Internet Explorer was allowed back on the Optimum site and after fixing all of the features that I needed to communicate I saw that the Firefox resizing issue went over to Internet Explorer also. Please, does anyone know how to turn off this Firefox automatic picture resizing? I know it must be simple but it's got me baffled.

What does that mean? Are you viewing standalone images, images on a regular web page, images in a webmail site like Outlook, or something else? Attach a screenshot of the problem.

Is your page zoom level set very low? Hold down '''Ctrl''' and press '''0''' (that's zero) to reset it.

  • Firefox comes up in "safe" mode. How do I turn it off. I can't use the program this way.

About two weeks ago some virus (?) got in my computer. I lost everything and had to reload everything.
When I reloaded Firefox it came up 'locked'. Nothing would react to my mouse.
I discovered it came up in "safe" mode. I removed the program and reloaded it again. It came up in safe mode again. When I hit start and look at programs Firefox is there and under it is another Firefox program with safe mode in parenthesis. I can't use it this way. How do I turn safe mode off?

See [[Firefox is stuck in Safe Mode]], the last option seems to be the most likely in your case.

  • Why is Firefox 17.0 now using SmearType, and how do I turn it off?

I updated to 17.0 today, and suddenly ClearType (what a joke!) is forced on, and I see no way to get rid of it. Seriously, ClearType is ugly and it makes it much harder to read webpages. This is the entire reason I refuse to install IE 9.0. Help?
    OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
    Browser: Firefox 17.0 32-bit
    Auto-updated 11/21/2012
ClearType was off in 16.0 and earlier. If it can't be turned I will have to revert.

We have a patch in the works. It seems to be an azure issue. setting gfx.content.azure.enabled = False seems to work in the meantime. We aren't sure if the patch will be part of a chemspill or wait until 18. Thanks for being patient!

  • If I set Firefox to refrain from loading images automatically, how can I view a single image, or a single page's images, without having to enter the site in the Exceptions list, only to go back and remove it when I'm done?

I was hoping for a hotkey option or button on the toolbar to load images for a single page for a single session at a time. Turning off images really saves bandwidth and speeds load time on websites, but sometimes I'd like to view the images on a page, but only for this session. Is that possible, or do I have to go to the Exceptions page and allow a specific domain or page to load images and then go back and remove that domain or page when I'm done?

  • Firefox is running in the back ground, how can I turn it off to reinstall it?

I tried to get into the save mode but Firefox still will not come up. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled and still I can not get Firefox to come up on the screen. But when I shut down my computer it says it is running. It must e running the back ground. Please help me get Firefox working again. I think this is a Mozilla Problem because I did not install addons, etc.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • "This connection is untrusted" shows up CONSTNATLY!!! and I cannot move the page down to get to the bottem of I understand the risks to override it. How do I do that or how do I TURN IT OFF!!!

Even sending this message gets the" This connection is untrusted"!!!!!How is that for stupid!!! How do I turn it off or do I have to use some other site and wipe firefox off my computer.

Just got this warning for facebook, Amazon, and Google, I have just told my clients to stop using firefox until the problem is fixed, it is a support nightmare because you have inexperienced users calling in convinced that they have a virus on their computer, and that they need to unplug the internet to prevent anything bad from happening.
I had one customer call in and say, "it says get me out of here, Oh my God what have I done I should never have gone online"
You know what can we have a better more accurate statement, on that warning, like Hi, thanks for stopping by this website may be sharing a security certificate with a parent organization, it may not really be a bad thing we just wanted you to know about it before you go on your merry way. Oh and by the way were going to make you jump through hoops and clicks check boxes and do this and do that before we let you go on your merry way, wait, " Are you really sure that you want to be doing this?" Do you know what your doing, perhaps you should call your ISP for advice, and get support from someone who has nothing to do with this issue.
Thanks Guys, appreciate all the calls, perhaps I should give them your email address. $%^$%#$

  • Is there a Metro version of Firefox that works for Non-Touch computers with Windows 8.1?

I have a 64-bit Windows 8.1 computer of which doesn't support Touch features. Is there a Metro version of Firefox that works on 64-bit Windows 8.1 computers that don't support touch? If so, how can I get it?

Okay, thanks. Tbh the only advantage I thought of was the ability for it to open in a Windows 8 mode. Basically like how IE 10 does when opened from the start menu.

  • On my own website vdha.us, I am now getting many words that are purple and when you mouse over them, a new spamming window opens trying to sell something. IE-9 does not do this. How do I turn this off in firefox?

    Sirs,
The below URL came up immediately when I tried to access our Newfangled website this morning http://vdha.us :
    http://surveyprizecenter.com/survey/claimgift-GT-kw-7b.php?t202kw=Vdha.us&trimmedKeyword=Vdha.us
I prefer to use Firefox and very seldom use IE-9. but now I might be forced to remove Firefox 4.0.1 and resort to using IE-9 because of this situation.
I don’t know how spammers can use our website to exploit their spamming, but I can only imagine the complaints I am going to get from our Board of Directors and members about this.
Can you make them stop, or at least explain how it is that anyone can do this without our permission.
We have never allowed advertisement on our website and don’t plan on starting now.
I am now also getting many words that are purple with two lines under them, and when you mouse over them, a new spamming window opens automatically trying to sell something. How do I turn this off?
I would appreciate any expediency in the return of an answer that you can provide.

The "MySearchDial" app needs to be removed in 4 places.
    1) Go to "add / remove programs" in your windows control panel select mysearchdial and remove it.
    2) Open your Firefox browser then click the Firefox tab at the top left and select options. You will need to change the start page settings back to your preferred start page.
    3) Again under the Firefox tab select "add-ons". In the add-ons manager you will need to remove mysearchdial from both "plugins" and "extensions"
    4) In your search bar (top right of address bar" use the drop down menu and select "manage search engines". You can restore your preferred search engine and remove mysearchdial from the menu.
This should remove all the components of the nuisance hijacker and restore your browser back to your preferred settings. If you are comfortable with a more in depth removal I would also suggest going to your "programs" folder within the "C" drive of your machine and deleting the "MySearchDial" folder altogether. However, only do this AFTER you have uninstalled it from your system and if you are familiar with this type of removal.

  • I quit multiple tabs Firefox sent the warning prompt. As I was going to click save and quit I accidentally pressed the "save these settings". Now I jsut wonder, how do I turn it off, so that Fireox sends the prompt whenever I try to close multiple tabs?

This might sound stupid, but once when I was about to quit Firefox, I got the warning prompt if I wanted to close multiple tabs.. As I was going to click save and quit I accidentally pressed the "save these settings". Now I jsut wonder, how do I turn it off, so that Fireox sends the prompt whenever I try to close multiple tabs? I'm running 3.6.6 with OS X Snow Leopard.

You can reset the ''warn'' prefs on the '''about:config''' page via the right-click context menu.
    browser.tabs.warnOnClose , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/About%3Aconfig_entries
    browser.warnOnQuit , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnQuit
    browser.warnOnRestart , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnRestart
To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
In Firefox 3 you do not get the "Save & Quit" pop-up dialog if you choose Firefox > Preferences > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time".
To get the "Save & Quit" pop-up dialog you have to select one of the other choices (Show my home page,Show a blank page).

Is there a need to turn off my Apple TV when I'm not using it? If so, how do I turn it off?

    Kappy,
I know you said that my Apple TV shuts itself off after about an hours idle time but mine only shuts itself off radomly maybe one every two days even when the TV has been off and the iMack has been off over night. My wife and I both have iPhones and she has an iPad which may be causing the Apple to stay on. Don't know. Incidentally, my Apple TV  shows my iMack iPhoto pictures and albums great. Still a little concerned that it doesn't shut off after some idle time.

I have the exact same problem trying to use the Remote app on both my iPhone 3gs and iPad 2 with either my Mac or ATV2.  My Remote app used to work on my phone - I can't recall if I ever actually used it with my iPad, but when I tried today, I got all the same results as you did (on both iPad, and then iPhone).  I  was using my ATV2 to play music from iTunes on my Mac and wanted to use the Remote app, but it would not connect to either device no matter what I did.
