Form yo description it seems like a problem with the display/screen
What model iPod do you have?
I ask because in the earlier one the top screen/digitizer is separate from the LCD display.

It's normal for links to open in the same tab as you browse if you left-click. You can Ctrl+click or middle click to open a link in a new tab. Are either of those broken?
Some sites let you use a regular left click to open a link in a new tab (example: Google search settings), and some add-ons may change link behavior. Can you check whether one of your add-ons has been disabled?
Tools > Add-ons > Extensions
Also, if you use the Ask toolbar, try disabling it and see whether that makes any difference.

After updating to Firefox 5 on a Windows 7 PC the bookmarks icon won't stay on the toolbar and I can't click it to get a bookmarks column on the left side of the screen, how do I fix it?

There was no bookmarks icon on the toolbar. I used View > Toolbars> customise to put various icons on the toolbar all of which were visible using "customise". On going back to Firefox all the other icons remained visible but the Bookmarks Icon disappeared leaving no means of getting a bookmarks column on the left of the screen when using Firefox.

Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar<br />
If the menu bar is hidden then press F10 or hold down the Alt key, that should make the "Menu Bar" appear
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

If a reset or restore of the device does not resolve the issue, your iPod likely needs servicing as the LCD screen may be damaged.

A website that used to appear normal on my screen now has shrunk and is at the upper left corner of the screen. It is too small for me to use. How do I get the website to appear normal size again? To use a larger window on a REAL computer, adjust the Window's size to suit your needs. Do not use "Full Screen".

Did you try a reset yet?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't revive the iPad, you could try restoring the device next.

I typically don't like to recommend something like this, but I have read on these forums where some users state that smacking the iPad on the back can jog the screen into working again. The fall seems to have caused the problem and I imagine that the logic behind this suggestion is that if the impact caused the problem, another impact could help to fix it. Firefox is leaving bits of its menus all over the screen--how do I fix it?

Any graphic or menu that exceeds the boundaries of the Firefox window may leave bits behind. Example:

Over at the right side, you can see that not only did the bookmark display not get cleaned up _outside_ the window, but it even made the window controls disappear.
Refreshing the display will clear the mess outside the window; minimizing and re-expanding the Firefox window will clear it inside. But it just keeps happening.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
In Firefox 4 [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

I deleted skyfire and then all of a sudden the diagnostic and setup functions for the IPad became icons. I don't know if this is a problem and I don't know how to make it go back to normal. Can someone help?

First, check Settings-Brightness & Wallpaper to see if the icons are actually embedded in the background.
Then try resetting (rebooting) the iPad. Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow. The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes. Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.
