There is a space in text that I type?

As you can see, there is a weird space when I type in my indesign CS6. I have it set at 11pt font yet the cursor is clearly much bigger than the text it is writing. How do I remove that large space? Thanks a lot!

I suppose that you have a single sign in this line with different size, probably the return sign.
Go to the paragraph style you are using and click by holding the alt key on it. It will delete all overrides to your paragraph style.

The only element that's different in your example is the the text layer would be animated to move up, probably with Hold keyframes.

People want to paste text into the form fields but they don't want to have to change the font before they paste it and they would like it to change to a consistent font.

And if Drew's excellent reply doesn't do it for you, here's some text I prepared earlier (in best Blue Peter stylee for those of you in the UK... ;-))
The process is this:
1) create your menu background with all of the graphics in a single layer - make it look like you want the menu to be when no button is selected. Add all text, etc for the buttons. Flatten it and save as a pict file, 24bit colour.
2) add a layer to this photoshop image and just add the highlights that you want - a tick, arrow, underline, etc. Hide the background layer and convert this new layer to grayscale (you will need to flatten the image), then save it as a .pict file, 4 bit max - 2 bit could do it, too (You might now want to use the history tool to undo certain steps and save the file as a psd file so that you can make changes if you need to).
3) import both .pict files into DVDSP and set one as the background and the other as the overlay into your menu. In the menu editor, click and drag the mouse over the places where the buttons need to be. Click in one of those button hotspots and look in the property inspector under the 'color' tab. Use the sliders there to adjust what you want the highlights to be in each button state - remember that you are using a simple overlay in gray scale.

Most space-efficient codec that will edit smoothly?

I have several MPG files (actually they're MOD/MOI files from a Canon camera), which have the usual problems in Premiere Elements -- jerky, out-of-sync, etc. playback.
I've read some posts about converting them to AVI, but I don't know what codec to use.
My main goal is to edit smoothly in Premiere Elements -- to get rid of the MPG quirks.
My secondary goals are quick conversion and space-efficiency.
1.) Which codec will be the simplest/quickest conversion from MPG (I use MediaConverter or Super(C), and occasionally VirtualDub).
2.) Which codec will give me the smallest filesize in an AVI format that Premiere can work with natively? I don't want to waste hundreds of gigabytes of space by puffing up MPGs to gigantic DV AVI files -- is there a more space-efficient codec that won't cause glitches when the files are edited in Premiere Elements?

Upgrading will get you more "features," but the workflow with later versions will be the same. They are still built around a DV-AVI Type II format w/ the DV CODEC. You are best to convert your MPEG footage to this format/CODEC, as Steve suggests.
Unfortunately, there is only one MPEG (Intra-frame, and it's just coming out in some high-end cameras and on PrPro CS4.2) format, that is meant to be edited. Everything else is a compromise, because of something called GOP (Group of Pictures), which use a real, full frame only about every 15 "frames." An editing program needs to "create" actual "Frames" to edit, so conversion must take place somewhere.
I use a program, DigitalMedia Converter (not freeware) to do this outside of my NLE (Non Linear Editor) program, and then Import the converted files. I choose DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio as the conversion format w/ the DV CODEC. This works fine. There are freeware converters, and some get very high marks, but I do not use them, so cannot make a rec. for you on which ones work, and which ones do not.

Is there any plug-ins that will show the missing text that couldn't be fitted in the created text box?

I often work with long pieces of text that are too long to be fitted inside a pre-determined text box.
I want to know how much text is not appearing inside of my text box without having to change the size of the text box. Is there any way of doing that? Perhaps via plug-in?

If there is more text than will fit inside an area text object, the out port of the object will show as a red + sign. Select the object with the Selection tool. Click on the red + and the pointer becomes a "loaded text" icon. Click and drag on an empty space of the artboard, creating a new text object containing the overflow text. It may be necessary to resize the new text object to view all remaining text.

Via a paragraph style sheet, I need to apply character styles to text that is enclosed in space characters.
For example:
The cat <<thinspace>> sat <<thinspace>> on the <<enspace>>mat<<enspace>>
In the above, "Sat" would have one character style while "Mat" will have another.
What's the best way of doing this?
I know Indesign has GREP styles but that doesn't seem to work to text enclosed in space characters.
Also the only reason I am using space characters is because they are invisible when printed.
Is there any other method for wrapping text to mark it out as needing to be tagged with a style?

Would non-joiner characters surrounding target words work for you? In the GREP style dialog box in the paragraph style panel, the non-joiner is under the @button > Other. Non-joiners take no space and do not print.
If there's a collection of words that need a specific character style for specific words, you could define each GREP action with @Locations > word boundary before and after the word. If there are many words in the collection, with many GREP style clauses, performance could slow.

Everytime I try to send a message to a person that does not have an Apple product ( Iphone or Ipad ) it comes up saying contact is not registered for iMessage and wont send it. I can only send them a message from my iPhone 4 instead. Do I have to install a new App from the App store to send these non iMessage cell users a message?

Can I Turn off iMessage in a group text with multiple people with different devices? There's 1 person in the group text that doesn't use iPhone anymore and they can't see any messages that are sent unless we send as regular text individually.

Is there a way to turn off iMessage for a group text that includes multiple people with different non-apple devices? When a message is sent, only the iPhone users can see the iMessage. Those without them cannot see the texts unless we send individual Text Messages or turn off iMessage completely.

Has anyone out there been charged for texts that were hung up and sent thousands of times?

I just wanted to know how many others out there may have had text/billing issues like mine, and then had to fight the useless battle of trying to get help from Verizon's Customer Service group. Let me tell you my story. One evening I came home, and sent a text to a friend who was visiting a dying friend. I sent the text ONE time. Then later in the evening, I tried to send more texts and phone calls, but I kept getting a message that I wasn't connected to the network. For most of the night, I was unable to place a call or send another text. I did manage to get/send (don't remember which) one call, then it started all over again. When I wen to bed that night after shutting it down several times, my phone was still useless. The next am my friend sends me a text that he had gotten the text about 250+ times. I shut the phone down for a while, but then he sent another one saying he had gotten it around 3000 times. Well, I get my bill for the month and low and behold they charged me over $150.00 EXTRA for all these texts. I only had 1500 on my plan. Of course, it my history with Verizon, i had never sent over 3000 texts before, so they can clearly see my volume history. I placed a call to get this resolved and was told that, of course, no supervisor was available, but he saw what happened, assured me that he would get this taken care of, but just needed to get with his supervisor and would call me the next day. NEVER GOT A RETURN call. I placed yet another call and spoke to a guy named Dwayne. He did call me back, but just to leave me a voice mail letting me know that they deemed the charges to be valid and they would NOT be issuing a credit. TWO more calls later, I have spoken to 3 different reps-1 who claimed to be a supervisor. I was promised 2 more times that I would get a call back by the next day and of course have still not received calls back from any of these people. In the meantime, I paid the portion of my bill that was VAILID. After wasting ALL MY TIME trying to get this resolved, what did I get today? A text warning me to pay my bill to avoid interuption!
Anyone else had this problem? I just filed a complaint with the FCC and I urge anyone else that has had this problem to do the same!!! Verizon needs to hear that people are sick of this poor service and shady billing practices!

I haven't seen any one reported issues like this but have you checked that your device isn't part of the issue because I have ran into a issue with my message saying it wasn't sent but it did but never the number of times you have experienced..
Now as for the billing situation this may be a little bit hard to give you a solution, I know this may not be the solution you want but you may have to simply keep trying to see if you can get a workable solution for your situation.

I believe that system has a hall sensor on it to detect when the lid is closed so it can put the system to sleep and/or disable the monitor so it can be used with an external monitor only. If the sensor is marginal or has a bad cable, it may intermittently cut the monitor on and off, and may likewise put the system to sleep. One way to check would be to plug in an external monitor and if the laptop's screen cuts off or doesn't show up, start using the trackpad and press on a non-typing key like the shift key. If the external display suddenly pops and becomes active while the laptop display remains black, it's probably a problem with the sensor or the cable/connection. You might be able to fool the sensor into kicking on and off by moving a magnet over it. It's located on the left had side of the base with the unit opened up, and right over the audio output plug.
I know of some people that put a small magnet right over the hall sensor's location so the laptop display turns off and they use the system with an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. If fooling with magnets, make sure they're small and don't get them close to the hard drive because a strong magnet can wipe them out.
I don't know if this will help you much, but it might.

No - it is with the FAT format on the USB that has a very limited number of root tems - select the phtoos in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder (see the user tip on exporting for the options available) then using the finder drag that folder to the mounted, unlocked USG drive
