There is a view named &gantt chart in this project which cannot be overwritten

Hello,
I'm using Project Server 2007 SP2. While opening a plan, we are getting the following error
"There is a view named &gantt chart in this project which cannot be overwritten"
However, we are not getting the same error for other plan. Is there any changes to be done in the enterprise Global? How to rectify the error? Kindly help.
Thanks!

In addition to Guillaume's excellent answer, you should know that this problem was not caused by the project manager.  The problem was caused solely by the actions of the Project Server administrator.  The Enterprise Global file is reserved for
ONLY enterprise views, tables, filters, and groups.  For example, there is a default enterprise view named Enterprise Gantt Chart and there is a default enterprise table named Enterprise Entry.  The Project Server administrator should NEVER add local
views to the Enterprise Global, such as the Gantt Chart, Resource Sheet, etc.
So, how did the Gantt Chart view end up in the Enterprise Global?  I doubt the Project Server administrator did this intentionally.  Instead, my guess is that he/she applied the regular Gantt Chart view while he/she had the Enterprise Global file
open for editing.  If the Project Server administrator applies any local view (such as the Gantt Chart view) while he/she has the Enterprise Global file open for editing, Microsoft Project COPIES that view and its default table into the Enterprise Global
file.  So, if he/she applies the Gantt Chart view while he/she has the Enterprise Global file open, Microsoft Project copies BOTH the Gantt Chart view AND the Entry table into the Enterprise Global file, thus polluting the Enterprise Global file with
a local view and table.
To clean up the pollution, keep in mind that your Project Server administrator will need to delete all local view AND all local tables as well.  As the article indicates, as cited by Guillaume, the problem you are facing is a common one, so welcome
to the club!  :)
Hope this extra helps.

  • Is there any way to generate Gantt chart by using oracle 9iDS?

Is there any way to generate Gantt chart by using oracle 9i reports builder
Can you please send me the link or more information on oracle 9iDS.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Oracle9iDS itself doesn't support creating Gantt charts. The option oyu have is to use Oracle Graphics 6i, because there is no Graphics in 9i, and configure it to run with Oracle9i Forms. There exist a whitepaper at otn.oracle.com/products/forms that explains how to make Graphics 6i work with Forms 9i.

  • Turning Off Gantt Charts in MS Project For PDF Gen

    hi
we have run into a problem when printing Gantt charts with PDF Gen. They can be extremely slow and on following up with Support they have confirmed that this is an issue with Distiller and there is no fix soon. So to get around the issue we tried disabling Gannt charts in MS Project by un-checking Bars and shapes in Gantt views in 3-D' (Tools > Options, View tab) in MS Project
Now we're finding LC does not always pick up the setting. What we have noticed is that sometimes when printing to PDF with the same file, on the same server via PDF Gen, Gantt charts will appear, and sometimes not. Occasionally, the MS Project file when printing Gantt charts will stall in the Adobe Printer Queue, LC will then start to get Stuck Threads in Weblogic, and basically become unstable.
Upon further investigation we saw that LC will use the WINPROJ.exe if it is running to do the conversion, or start a new WINPROJ.exe process if none is running. Sometimes while starting the process we get the Gantt chart setting picked up, and sometimes not, and there is no particular pattern.
We did a lot of digging with PROCMON to see if we could find if LC was picking up a Windows Registry entry for MS Project perhaps with a different user which did not have the Gannt chart turned off, but could not find one. Our conclusion was that sometimes LC has submitted the job before WINPROJ.exe is fully loaded and somehow the No Gantt charts option gets lost, though this is speculation based on observation of behaviour.
Anyone know what is going on?

    Hi,
We will get this issue reproduced in-house and see if we can provide a patch to address this problem. Prima facie this does not appear to be a bug in the product; rather it appears that MS Project might be "forgetting" this setting in some cases, or a similar setting (inside the file that is being converted) might override the application-wide setting.
We will try to see if we can forcibly set this flag (through MS Project COM APIs) each time a MS Project file gets converted. If this works, we might be able to provide a patch.
Meanwhile, can you let me know exactly what version of MS Office (with the service pack details, if any) that you are using?

  • Date fixing of  Gantt chart in cproject

    Hi,
In cproject 4.0 Gantt chart , can we fix the time line appearance before and after the project schedule for various overviews like week, Month and year.? In current system the empty calender appears with huge period like 2 years incase of year overview, and more than 12 months in case of Month overview, more than 12 Weeks incase of Weeks(approximately).
Pls guide me to solve the issue. Right answers will be awarded.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ramesh

    hi Ramesh,
There is not much felxibility in viewing the Gantt chart like normal non sap planning tools. if you select view - overview then you will be able to see your all project in your window, system will automatically select scale to show you entire project. As per my knowledge there is no such settiing in collabration project to see specific period Gantt chart. But if you print the gantt chart system will give you preview of only specific time in which project operation with respect to view you select.
Please let me know if you get more information about this.
    Regards,
    Pramod
plz award pts if its useful for you.

  • Display of Assigned Resource Units or % in Gantt chart

Is there a way in P6 to show how many of a particular resource is assigned to a task in the Gantt chart view/layout? For example, a task may have (7) laborers, (2) electricians, (1) operating engineer, and (1) concrete pump truck assigned. The "Resources" column in the Gantt view only shows laborer, electrician, operating engineer, concrete pump truck. It does not show how many of each are needed.

    Go for the workaround.
Create a text User Defined Field (UDF).
Add the numbers in UDF exactly in order of resources view in Gantt Chart.
Add the UDF as bar label next to Resources label.

  • Gantt chart in Graphic layout of project

    Hi,
is it possible to add a column in Gantt chart in cProjects project display? There is a BADI DPR_GANTT method GET_GANTT_PARAMETERS, but it is possible only to delete the columns, while I need to put a new column there. Is that possible?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Unfortunately it's not possible in standard.
You have to enhance class CL_DPR_UI_LOG_GANTT to achieve this.

  • Timescale at the bottom of Gantt Chart

    Hi,
In the old P3 application, we were able to put timescale at the bottom of Bars area, how can we do it with new P6.

    Sharyar ,
As far as I know that is not possible in the current version of P6.
But, you can have a timescale located on the bottom of your screen if:
Option #1: Set up either a "Resource profile or Activity profile" on the bottom section of your screen. I use them regularly and they easily print out displaying the timescale on the bottom of my layouts. But that's not the same as viewing a gantt chart :(
Option #2: If you do not need the timescale to be seen is to change the format of the timescale's shade & text color to "white".
Option #3: Maybe try to build a new report that displays a time phased look with weeks, months or years displayed on the top of each page.
Option #4: (least recommended) Take a screen shot of your schedule and modify the location of your timescale using a type of graphics software.
    Hope this helps,

  • Resource Gantt Chart with Multiple Series (Apex 4.1.1)

    Hi,
I am building a resource gantt and I want to show different types of entry in different colours.
    My series query is:
    select null,
    time_record_id,
    username,
    null,
    to_timestamp(to_char(event_date + (start_time/24),'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI'),'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI') start_date,
    to_timestamp(to_char(event_date + (end_time /24),'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI'),'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI') end_date
    from
    oly_time_record
    where
    work_code = 'OFFICE'
order by 5, 3;which works well to show me the times when a user is going to be in the OFFICE.
I now want to add additional bars to the chart that shows me the times that a user is going to be 'WORKFROMHOME'.
The 'OFFICE' time should show Green bars and the 'WORKFROMHOME' should show Red Bars.
This is quite easy on normal charts, where you can add extra series but the Resource Gantt does not seem to allow more than one series.
Does anyone have any ideas about how I can get what I need?
    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
there are a lot of examples of gantt charts in this forum.

  • Gantt chart wad 7.0

    Hi
I need to show one query data as Gantt chart in WAD.My user will see this report in his portal...My requirement is like this:
In rows panel of query definition I have Project ID....
In columns panel of query definition I have around 10 Restricted keyfigures...
The other customer requirements are:Chart should only show the data that falls in between start date and end date ,I enter through variables...
He should be able to choose which Keyfigures he want to see in the Gantt chart....
Chart should show Todays date as line somewhere in middle of chart....
is it possible to achieve this through WAD...(I am new to WAD...I tried creating one test template...its crashing showing its too much data to handle....I have records on 14 pages when I executed the query in browser)
Do I need to have time characteristic as keyfigure in cube or in query inorder to achieve this....
is there any other tool, where I can easily implement this.............
    Thanks.

    Hi Priya,
    Thanks for your reply.
1.I have read in help.sap.com that special things with Gantt chart is...in the dataprovider we need to use time as keyfigure.Inorder to achieve this,we need to have this time as keyfigure in cube itself.I check my cube and we have some time keyfigures.I tried putting variable on this time keyfigure in query designer but its not working.how can we restrict time keyfigure so user will have an option to give input for which time period he wants the see the Gantt Chart.
2.I have to use this Gantt chart to show projects....When I checked,we have many projects that needs to be shown(you can count more than thousand)...and I am getting error when I tried to implement Gantt chart in WAD saying webitem is too small to show data or something....Is it 'not so good' idea to use Gantt chart to show so many projects....?
3.how to really design this in a web template...
First I dragged a container web item...then I dragged a Gantt chart web item into it having smaller size than Container web item...is it the right way?where can I put the navigation pane webitem as you suggested above?is there any thing more I need to add to get the above requirement?
Thanks for your time and help.
    Regards.
