There is a web app...

That lets you send free SMS texts.
It's on the apple.com web apps page, listed as Krypton I believe. Has anyone tried this? If it's really free and works, this is a must have!

i tried it, to myself...
you have to know the other person's carrier...its a bit slow...the other party would see a bunch of 1s & 0s as the number texting...when i replied back, i never got the reply...
stick with regular texting!

Right way to use Web Apps on iPhone?

I'm not sure I'm doing right way using Web Apps on my iPhone.
Mostly I find the necessary Web Apps. on my Mac.
And type the url address on iPhone.
Then, if there is "view Web Apps" icon under the description of the Web apps, click to go and add it to home screen.
Or if there is no "view Web Apps" icon, just click the url of the Web App name.
Is this right way to add Web Apps I like?

When I find a web app I like in Safari I size the screen to what I want my homescreen icon to look like and click the + button. This adds a weblink icon to my homescreen making it easier to access than opening up safari and looking for a bookmarked page.

Office Web Apps don't open documents stored on Sharepoint server

We have Sharepoint Server 2013 installed on a AD domain controller and Office Web Apps installed on a machine in the same domain and configured for internal-http WOPI zone. Discovery XML works fine. When opening a MS Office document, Office Web Apps show
its label for a minute or two, and then display the message "Sorry, Web App can't open this document because the service is busy. Please try again later" or the message "Web App cannot open this document due to an unknown error."
Network logs show repeated requests to Docdatahandler.ashx to which Web Apps server each time responds with some XML saying it's busy, and to Reshandler.ashx to which the server each time responds with 404 status.

Have you checked that by using normal user account or system account? Check by using normal user account,if error is still there then Office Web App server may not be configured properly,plz check the link for one of the causes of the issue

Liquid: How to filter on specific items in a web app collection

I am trying to write some logic in Liquid that will show/hide certain html based on the value of a specific property of the webapp.
I am trying to limit users to being able to create only one item of each type based on this filter.
So in this case, the user has the option to create a 1 Bedroom Cabin, 2 Bedroom Cabin, 3 Bedroom Cabin or a 4+ Bedroom Cabin. I want them to be able to create only one of each type of cabin. I am pretty sure if/else statements are not a good way to check for this as I would be checking not only if the certain cabin type exists, but also for each situation of if say they have created a 1 Bedroom Cabin and a 4+ Bedroom Cabin. The way I am currently trying to accomplish it, I would have to write a ton of If/Else statements to check for all of these possibilities.
Also, I notice that this code only checks if the type exists. So, if there are 4 web app items, all of these if/then statements below will evaluate to true. This is not the behavior I am looking for.
Is there a different filter in Liquid to accomplish what I am trying to do? It seems as though my ability to iterate and do custom logic on collections is a bit limited right now in the current system. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If I understand your intent, I’d loop once over listingsApp.items, setting a boolean to represent the ‘already used’ state of each accommodation type. Then I could use those to control the options:

Custom module templates for Web Apps

Just wanting to see if there's anyone out there who knows if the custom module templates from the September release are available for Web Apps? I can't seem to get them to work.
When placing {module_webapps,8168,a template=”/custom/wap-contract.tpl”} I get a "No Items Found" response. I would appreciate help as this would be very useful in building Web Apps and I can't find documentation on it

They do work with Web Apps, I've been able to use it successfully. Here is the only documentation I can find on it so far:

Curious though, when you get "No items found" that means there are no web app items to show. So we don't really know if your custom template worked or not. If you can get some items to show up and they use the default layout, then we know something is wrong.

Heeeeeeeeeeeelp! sorry i'm angry, how come on the web apps page it says you can simply press the + button at the bottom of the page on any web app, and select 'add to homepage' and it will appear on your homepage? all it says on my itouch is add bookmark I don't want a F**n bookmark. Please excuse my language. can anyone help me?

Well, a web app is just that - a WEB app, meaning the code for the application resides on a server somewhere, and when you run that web app you are connecting to that server, (and what is that but a (expletive here) bookmark?). Basically, that's the way web apps work - they need to be a link on your home screen to the location of the app +on the Web+.

Web apps and content holders after upload

I purchased the uguru photography template from business catalyst into which I have inserted my own content worked on in dreamweaver and tested on my trail site. I transfered the whole of the new version successfully to my live site at http://www.misskikisalon.co.uk/. Have checked all files and everything is successfully there. The problem is that none of the web apps and content holders are now working and the interface tells me there are no web apps on the site although all the files have uploaded. The html pages say 'No Items Found' where the web apps should be working and the content holders should be - on product pages it says no product found or item out of stock. Please can you help?
Also on the trial site interface under site manager there are 12 items and under web apps all the associated web apps for the template whereas in my live site in site manager there are 2 items listed under site manager - web forms and system emails and no apps - why the difference?

I purchased the template which places it in the trial site worked on it locally using dreamweaver and then sftp site from dreamweaver to live site.
How can I then use the template from the trial site and the version I have developed in dreamweaver and make this live on my live site. I want my currently live site to use this template and all the development I work since purchasing the template.

Apple Web apps versus 3rd party Web apps

There would appear to be some confusion regarding the use of Web apps on the iPhone; specifically, whether the iPhone warranty is voided if a Web app not currently offered on the Apple site at: http://www.apple.com/webapps/, is used on the iPhone. The issue came to light when a poster suggested using the iPhone Pixel Fix Web app (http://www.ebaspace.com/iphone-app/#_home), intended to resolve issues with stuck or dead pixels on the screen.
My understanding is that the use of any Web app that is not Apple approved automatically voids the iPhone warranty, no matter how innocuous it may seem or be. However, it may be that some users consider 3rd party Web apps, such as iPhone Pixel Fix, to be "allowed", as they run on locked/legal iPhones, and are not downloaded onto the phone.
As usual, I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong. May I have your thoughts, advice etc.?

Web apps were available even before Apple posted the web apps directory. The information about each web app in the web apps directory is supplied by the submitter which is usually the author. Being included in the web apps directory does not indicate endorsement, recommendation, etc on the part of Apple, it is a directory of available web apps.
No web app should be able to void your warranty, regardless of the site it is posted to, unless it were to exploit a known or unknown security hole. For example, there was a web app that would exploit a security hole to "jailbreak" the iPhone. That was fixed in a previous update to the iPhone.
The Pixel fix web app cycles the colors on the iPhone screen several times using Javascript. It does not install anything on the screen. Essentially it tries to do the opposite of screen burn in. Whether or not it will work, I do not know.
However, using a web-based application that does not overwrite system files or modify the file system, does not void your warranty.
Installing third-party native applications or files that require you to crack the iPhone file system could potentially cause damage to the iPhone's firmware, and would void your warranty.

Is there a way I can have Business Catalyst automatically import product content from Amazon? (e.g. a Web App I could build, perhaps?)

I'm currently building a site using Drupal that is basically a huge book database and book review site. In order to acquire basic information about certain books I'm using an Amazon module that automatically pulls information into my Drupal database (such as author name, page count, publication date, etc.) based on any ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) I enter. It's a pretty nice arrangement. Also, people can click on a link that leads them to the item on Amazon so that they can purchase it and I can collect a puny affiliate commission. Yay Internet!
But I'd like to use Muse and Business Catalyst instead. I was able to create a Web App version of my database but I can't figure out how to 1) automatically import based on ASIN and 2) automatically link each book record in the database to its page on Amazon. Honestly, if I could just get the info into the database alone I'd be happy.
I'm afraid that Adobe would have to create some sort of connection on their end that interfaces with the Amazon API - and therefore there is no way to create such a website now using Muse. But, of course, I don't know everything so I ask you all: is there a way this can happen now?

To do stuff like that will always need custom coding and things like API work. You will never be able to use Muse for that, its a basic site design tool that can hook up to BC modules. You will need to use coding software and have custom API work done for things like this.

Thanks for your help with this. I had a look at both posts, the URL works fine from the WAC server and I am not using a System account to test docs.
Also, this is a production site that is accessible over the Internet, so we are using https therefore the WOPIZone is external-https.
Issue #3 in the above blog link does not reflect the same error I see on my servers.

Problem: You receive a "Sorry, there was a problem and we can't open this document" error when you try to view an Office document in Office Web Apps.
If you added domains to the Allow List by using the
New-OfficeWebAppsHost cmdlet, make sure you’re accessing Office Web Apps from a host domain that’s in the Allow List. To view the host domains in the Allow List, on the Office Web Apps Server open the Windows PowerShell prompt as an administrator and run
the Get-OfficeWebAppsHost cmdlet. To add a domain to the Allow List, use the
New-OfficeWebAppsHost cmdlet.
I have not added any domains to the Allow list so this did not help either. Should I add the domain?

Is there a way for users to add products in the front-end using a Web-App?

I am racking my brains trying to figure out a way to let users add products to the front-end on their own.
I am building a site for a client who needs users to be able to create there own storefront, kind of like ebay. Here is exactly the functionality I want: Supplier Frontend Products Upload - Magento Connect
There HAS to be a way to do this with a web app even if it means writing in some code...can anyone suggest a way to do this?

In short, out of box no, but is possible.
Solution 1: Hosted on BC, external interface that interfaces with BC API, requires external hosted server.
Solution 2: Wait until v3 of the API comes out... no timeline from Adobe given. This would remove the need for the external API server.
Can do both solutions for you but solution 2 wont work until adobe allows it.

Create Project Web App Instance - Failed to find Project Site object. Are there any database mounted?

New Installation. Sharepoint 2013, Project Server 2013 and SQL Server 2008 SP1 (another box).
When I try to create Project Web App Instance, I get
Provisioning 'PWA': Post provisioning setup failed. Exception 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: Failed to find Project Site object. Are there any database mounted?
Followed by:
Failed to provision site PWA with error: Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: Failed to find Project Site object. Are there any database mounted?
Already tried reinstalling the whole farm to no avail. Farm Admin account is used to do everything within this process.

According to your description, my understanding is that you failed to open the word file using office web app.
Please open the word file using office web app in other SharePoint sites and test whether this issue occurs. Also, please test whether all words have this issue.
Please reset IIS on the OWA server.
Please disconnect the SharePoint Farm from Office Web Apps and reconnect it. Then check the WOPIZone and TMG server.
Please created certificate for your PC and update mappings of IP addresses.

Is there a way to search for state in a web app then show results ?

So what i am trying to do is search my web app data, first step is i ask a question like I am after 4 machines or less, then i ask i am after 5 machines or more, then what i want to do is group the results by state/province then the total number where it be 2, 4, 5 ect click the number then show the results for the state selected.
Basically is there way to create your own search for a web app or are you basically left with what the system does ...
Any help would be appreciated.

What Anjaneai also means to say is that Adobe has neglected to provide a Usage button for variables as they have for Advanced Actions and Library objects so that you can see exactly where they are used. This is a BIG problem when you have a lot of variables and AAs to search through.
By all means log an enhancement request and add your voice asking for this VERY necessary feature.
