Do you honestly think random strangers from the Internet are going to know the password for a wireless network that's apparently encrypted and located somewhere in an unidentified building?
Whoever comes up with the right answer for this one, I would sincerely like to know the powerball numbers for next week.

You cannot use windows without opening SMB to some strange port and this is going to mess with security.. you also need a static ip address from your ISP.. most private net users do not have this.
You can do it via vpn.. you will need to buy a vpn router and bridge the TC to it.

If all is pink (but you see the desktop), then normally one colour cable is broken - I think blue is off.
In your case (laptop) the connection to the display seems to be damaged, so the blue information is lost.
Normally you can test it when you twist the connection between pc and monitor. But I don't know if this works with a laptop.

My ipad has been a little glitchy for the last couple of weeks....not able to load pages because of DNS lookup failure and really slow loading...some of which has to do with the DSL service I have, but I followed the directions on one of the Apple wi-fi issues pages to reset network all connections..which I did, and now the Ipad cannot connect to WiFi because it will not accept (or cannot resolve..or??) password. I am sure I am typing the password correctly and have tried it on several routers..and it cannot cannect to any router properly even with the correct password. My laptop is connected just fine and it accepts the password and I have confirmed the password with the ISP and tried other routers.
So the question is what should I do if I am entering the right password and the Ipad can't sign itself on to the Wifi network?Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

I was using my ipod at night then all of a sudden on the sceen it said ipod has been locked then it said my phone number and it said call me or the police will. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I’ve worked in both pure tech companies and in tech teams in the banking industry and we’ve always had some form of name resolution for our devices. Normally using internal DNS but worse case scenario is a hosts file on the NMS.
Trying to retain IP addresses for anything more than a handful of devices is just tiresome, especially if you are in a fault situation. I think most network teams out there with the support of some decent network management infrastructure or experience would consider it vital and take it for granted.
Having said that, I’m a little pedantic when it comes to name resolution and have forward and reverse resolution for almost every numbered interface in our (not insubstantial) network, it makes traceroutes all the more powerful. -
When trying to download firefox 3.6.12.dmg to my Mac, OS 10.4, no matter what site I download it from, it will not install. There is always some error message. I'm trying to download it again now, and I know it will be the same thing again and again. Can anyone open a window for me, since the door is constantly being slamed in my face?

The error window is titled 'Update failed" and I quoted the message in the window in my question. I don't know what software is trying to update or why this message appears. I contacted my ISP and they told me to contact Mozilla. Thanks for any help.
This issue can be caused by the presence of leftover files in the Firefox program folder (defaults\pref) like a file firefox.js that overrides the update URL with a wrong link.
Do a clean reinstall and be sure to remove the Firefox program folder.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
