There is already installed mavericks on my macbook pro retina 15 inch but ı want to create recovery disk
Hey guys ı really need your help. I bought macbook pro retina 15 inch 2 weeks ago and it came with installed mavericks of course but ı want to create a recovery disk and to do that ı need to download mavericks installer from app store but when i click to download mavericks from appstore purchased part ı get a message says " Your purchasing process couldn't complete. OS X Mavericks cant be installed to this computer." How can ı solve this problem!??
One way around tis is to borrow a Mac that can run Mavericks and then the download will work. You can use these instructions:
http://www.macworld.com/article/1167857/how_to_make_a_bootable_mountain_lion_ins tall_drive.html
Though they are for Mt. Lion, the same steps will work.
Ciao.

I'm not satisfied with OS X Mavericks and I'd like to go back to OS X Lion! How do I do this as easy as possible?
Erase your hard drive and install your Lion system backup. If you don't have a Lion backup, the you can do an Internet Recovery:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer. -
After installing Maverick on my macbook pro, imessage on my ipad and Iphone stopped working properly.
What I get is a RED exclamation and "Not Delivered". It happens even if i resend it over and over.
I have made sure that the 3 devices all have the same settins in iMessage.
I have made sure to try doing it from the same network and from the cell provider network.
I have tried rebooting all three devices.
The only way to get it to work on my iphone and iPad is to dissable it in Mavericks on my MacBook Pro.
Is this a "feature" of the new OS?Hi,
On the iOS devices remove the Apple ID.
Set the device in to Airplane Mode (this breaks with the server)
Start with the iPhone to add back the Apple ID - only after you see the iPhone Number is Verified.
The Restart the Mac Version
Accept the pops ups that state what the iPhone is using.
Do same on iPad.

hello everyone! i have a new macbook pro and i want to download aperture. my app store says it is already installed (on my old macbook pro). how do i install aperture from the app store in this instance please?
Are yoy sure that Apeture is not in the Applications folder of the new system? If it is move it to the trash and the App Store will let you download Aperture from it.
You will need to make sure you use the same Apple ID you used to purchase it in the past.

Since installing Mavericks on my MacBook Pro, I have many documents, but not all, that cannot be opened in either Pages 5 or in Pages '09. The names show in my document lists, but are greyed out. They do not show any extensions, but I'm sure at seast some of them are PDFs. As I cannot open them, I am unable to try to experiment with any solutions - I am not tech savvy, but can sometimes fix things by trial and error. I have no issues with sharing documents as I have no other devices. I just want to be able to open my saved documents! Also, the documents I can open have to be persistently coaxed to open to a point that it is extremely aggravating. I am not so happy with this recent "upgrade." Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You use Finder to find stuff. It is what you use to look at where your files are kept and to rename, move or trash them. If you double click on a file in Finder it finds the right software to open it for you.
To open particular files you use the right software for each type. Usually, but not always, the software that made the file.
Pages opens files ending in .pages. Also .txt, .rtf, and doc.
Pages 5 is the latest (but certainly not the greatest) version of Pages. It has trouble opening all sorts of files including the older Pages '09 files but it will still do it.
Unfortunately Apple has chosen for Pages 5 to also save its files as exactly the same file extension .pages despite it being a different format that can not be opened by the older Pages '09.
As we all know Apple is wise and great beyond belief and would not do something that on the face of it looks extraordinarily stupid and shortsighted. Therefore we know that it must be our fault and we are not holding the software right. Because we are bad users, we must be punished, by either having to use Pages 5 or jump through hoops to avoid using Pages 5.
If you have installed Pages 5 any .pages file (old or new) will be opened by Pages 5. If you then save the file, Pages 5 will change the file format. So don't open your files with Pages 5 and don't save them if you do.
To stop Pages 5 opening and resaving your old files, you need to drag it to the trash and empty it.
When it is no longer around to annoy you, you can go back to using Pages 09.

I've just installed Mavericks on my Macbook Pro, which took forever to install, and everything appears to be fine except for iPhoto. When I try and open iPhoto I get a popup saying its not supported by this OS. Anyone have any ideas??? Help please.
Click App Store from your Apple menu drop down menu then select Updates from the App Store menu bar.

I bought 2 new memory card to 4 grams each - replace them in your MacBook Pro 13-inch but it will not turn on - If you are installing a card for 2 and one for 4 d all works - tell me what could be the problem
I assume that you have installed new RAM in your MBP.
It would be helpful if you indicated the EXACT model/year MBP that you have.
What the the RAM specifications that you are trying to install?

Is there a maximum RAM capacity for a Macbook Pro 13 inch Mid 2009?
My questions is essentially, is there a maximum RAM capacity for a Macbook Pro 13 inch Mid 2009? I'm aware there are two RAM slots in my machine, but in past experiences with other laptops/desktop computers (not Apple) there was a default maximum which couldn't be overidden despite how much RAM was inserted.
You can upgrade up to 8GB using 2 x 4GB 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 modules. That's the maximum (unlike 2011 and later models which Apple tells you can only hold 8GB but can actually run 16GB).
If you do order RAM, order from a Mac memory specialist - Crucial, OWC, Corsair, etc.
Good luck,
Clinton -
Installed Yosemite update on MacBook Pro retina late 2013 will not boot flashing folder with ?
I just Installed Yosemite update on MacBook Pro retina late 2013 will not boot flashing folder with ?
dunno, Lynn--maybe Etrecheck. trying running disk utility to verify the status of your hard drive. That may give you a basic idea. Perhaps tech tool pro. As for it running hot, I can't say for sure. try shutting it down and using a vacuum clearner +crevice tool around the back of it. It's been my experience that hard drives usually fail without a lot of warning, luckily you have a backup. Afterwards you can say "Yup, that went bad". I've done a little research and found out that your MacBook Pro doesn't come with a conventional hard drive as such, but an SSD (solid state device) . It's upgradeable (up to 1 TB ) but not cheaply
go here for more info (OWC) :http://eshop.macsales.com. For right now, I'd recommend resetting the SMC/PMU, maybe zapping the pram . to do that, reboot, hold down Apple+Option, P+R keys while rebooting. Hold down for 3 chimes, let go and let it boot. as for the SMC thing....
I'm assuming your battery isn't removeable-shut down computer, plug in MagSafe cable . On built in keyboard, on left side, press Shift-Control-Option and power button at the same time. release all the keys and the power button. press power button again to turn on computer
that is all

After installing mavericks on my macbook pro my laptop keeps rebooting
How can I find out what might be happening to cause this behaviour?
Is anyone else seeing this odd behaviour?
I didn't have a booting issue before installing Mavericks, since installing I have had at least 4 random reboots. After logging in, I get a message that the system booted unexpectedly and I uploaded the info to Apple. One time it showed the reboot occured during the wakup from sleep.
As a side question, how can I tell the system to NOT relaunch all applications that where running before.
Mike P.Hi Clinton (and original poster/responders)
I have been having the same problem, with random reboots after installing Mavericks. Sometimes, it goes into a loop of restarting for a while before successfully launching (even rebooting when I click on my user id to log in to OS) . Thanks, and,
Here are the results from using EtreCheck: (P.S.: I use an external usb harddrive for TimeMachine, and it hasn't been connected during these restarts)
