If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged after the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
For example, if the problem is a slow startup taking three minutes, post the messages timestamped within three minutes after the boot time, not before. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the beginning of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

I've tried holding down top button and round button which makes it go off but as soon as you push top button again it comes back and again its frozen.

I thought about booting it from a disc but now I have a disk stuck in my MAB superdrive that I can't get out since at this stage it will not eject... it is a mess...

Installed Acrobat Reader for Mac. Rebooted and get apple logo, grey screen and perpetual blue screen, no further. I have dual systems installed and can boot Windows XP Pro with no problem so it appears to be a Mac OS problem, not hardware. Awaiting help.

i was in the middle on sync wit my laptop to update v4.2 wen my usb cable was accidentally disconnect frm the port and nw my iphone is jammed wit the apple loga appeared on the screen.. i tried pressing all the button that is available like the home button the on,off button but to no respond frm my iphone.. plz in need of help real badly....

I had the same thing that my iphone 3gs jammed with the loge on the screen. None of the buttons responded. I just waited till the battery was empty. But the battery wasn't laoding. I waited 48h while my iphone was plugged in. After the 48 hours he just started. The battery was still empty but it started loading.

When I power up my ipad air the apple logo comes up like it should then the lock screen only comes up for a second or less so I can't swipe it fast enough.

When I power up my iPad Air the Apple Logo comes up like it should then the lock screen only comes up for a second or less so I can't swipe it fast enough to get to the home page. The lock screen just disappears. I have to hit the sleep/wake or home button to bring the lock screen back up so I can swipe it. Have others found this situation with the iPad Air. I have an iPad 2 and it does not happen at all. The Apple store checked it out. One rep said to me this is unusual and had a tech check it out and they said this is normal. If the iPad is suppose to be user friendly, why this extra step to get to the lock screen? Are other owners of the iPad Air having the same problem? If so, what have you done to correct it?

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

Try restoring the device using iTunes. Connect the iPad to your computer and when iTunes opens, select your device on the left side, then click on the summary tab, then click on Restore.
After the device is restored you will have an opportunity to restore from your backup. Restore from the backup when you are done and then sync with iTunes.
if that doesn't work, try recovery mode.

The way I did it was I got the free app sync:stream from the App Store and then added my ipod to my ps3's Bluetooth devices. Then went to audio settings and set output and input to 'Skaggs iPod' you then open the app and it will be listed under music as a media service. You then go to all tracks and click copy (press triangle) it will then begin to copy all of your songs onto your ps3 via Bluetooth. I haven't tried but I assume the same can be done with photos. It would help to know whether it ever did work, or is this a new iPad for you? If new, you need to connect it to a Mac/PC that's running iTunes in order to register and initialize it. If it used to work, try doing a reset.

The startup disk may need repairing ...
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys.
From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to repair the disk and restore OS X using OS X Recovery

Startup your Mac while holding down the Option key. That should prompt the Startup Manager window where you can select the startup disk.

The ? mark on boot can mean several things. One, your Mac can't find a system folder to boot from, hence booting while holding down the Option key, or the startup disk needs repairing.
