There is an "add on" called BrowseFox that is driving me nuts.

How do I get rid of it? I've tried SpyBot but that doesn't help.

  • Things that are driving me nuts in Lion

There are numerous little things that are driving me nuts in Lion and I decided to list them all in this one annoying thread rather than start a bunch of annoying threads. Maybe some of you have found solutions, maybe some of these things bug only me, but here they are. Feel free to chime in with your own items that are driving you nuts...
WIth multiple tabs open in Safari, clicking on a tab causes the page to reload from scratch instead of the page being cached
I really miss having double scroll arrows on the top and bottom of windows
Downloaded installers do not automatically launch and mount as in previous OS X versions
Can't find a way to specify where to download a file to on the fly when clicking on a link in Safari. other than the downloads folder or another default folder
Scrolling in general has become more difficult and less precise. I literally could not scroll down my list of mail messages to find an email I was looking for earlier
ICO (custom web page icons) disappear and revert to generic
That's all I can think of off the top of my head, I know there's more. I know some of this stuff will just take getting used to, but some of it sure seems like a step backwards......

Yes I've had a few little things annoy me too - but the MOST annoying thing (so far... 24 hours in!) is that itunes now seems to stop streaming to my express as soon as my screen saver comes on - ie: I have itunes going all day usually, just streaming to my speakers in another room that are connected to an airport express. This is all this AE is for... and under Snow Leopard there was never any stopping of music because my imac went to sleep, but now, even as soon as a screen saver comes on, the music stops. I don't *really* want to disable screensaver and get the imac to be 'awake' all the time, but I can't seem to find a workaround - anyone else?

  • Hi, i have downloaded firefox 7. I was informed that there was an add on called SEO for firefox. However after searching the add ons i can't find it. can someone tell me where it is please ?

or if it has been updated and called something new, what that is please ? I tried to add on SEOquake thinking that might be it but after installing it, i can't seem to get it to work. Also it looks nothing like the form settings SEO for firefox had, and in the description it said it was an extension so i don't know if it incorporates the original material, and so i don't know if it is the right one. Can someone help me please ?
ive got windows vista by the way
I'm looking for something with the seo for firefox features to analyse basic seo like pagerank and number of backlinks (yahoo page links) so if you could recommend me something with those on if seo for firefox is not available then that would be good, but basically i'd rather just have seo for firefox, thanks

  • NVIDIA Tools now not working with PS CC, is there any other add-on besides NVIDIA that will open .DDS files in photoshop?

I had no problems with CS6 PS, but since I upgraded to PS CC, NVIDIA Tools is now not working and crashes when I try to reinstall the plug-in into PS CC. I checked NVIDIA's forums and found ZIP from them about this problem. So I am asking in here, is there another plug-in that will open .DDS files in PS? I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 for the OS, and I know the PS CC is 32 bit. Until I can resolve this issue, I am unable to do repaints of PMDG aircraft for my VA. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar issue but i solved it following the instructions explained here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bu … l.2FNVIDIA.
I also reccomend you to install the bbswitch package which disables NVIDIA discrete graphics card when isn't used.

  • A buffering problem that is driving me nuts!

Hello everyone. First of all I should thank all those who help me in solving this problem. I've updated my flash player to the latest one but have some annotying problems with it. When I pause a video, the buffer goes on and there's no problem; however, as soon as I hit the Play button, the buffer stops, and the time bar sooner orlater catches up with the buffer bar and the result is a disappoiting stop and choppiness in the course of video streaming. I tried the following measures but achieved no result:
    1. Reinstalling the latest flash player
    2. Deleting all the caches including the browser cach, internet cach, and flash player cach
    3. Increasing the virtual memory to the upmost extent possible (1024 MB)
    4. Isolating the stream from any other bandwith usage
    5. Increasing the size of buffer to "unlimited"
    6. Disabling hardware enhancement
    7. Decreasing the video size
Please note that I've tried different browsers and different sites and always got the same result.I use win8 pof. 64x. My internet download speed is about 300 kb/s.
    I highly appreciate your guidlines.
    Thank You

    Hi people
Regarding the afore-mentioned issue, I tried two solutions and got the desirable result. First, for those users who have to use proxies (Like me! from Iran), try to change your proxy server since some servers are not compatible with online streaming. Second, (Idon't know if it's related!), install the latest version of Java along with Adobe Flash plugin. It's done the trick for me.

  • Stupid little problem that is driving me nuts

All I did was to change the normal colour of a link. In iWeb it displays properly, but publish it and it shows as the old normal colour. Checked file attributes of the file in my publish folder and they're as they should be. Visit the site via iWeb on the local drive or uploaded to my site and it still shows the old normal colour. Only in iWeb does it display the new colour.
All other modifications are there and working. Other link colour changes have not been a problem.
www.hooked4life.ca -- it's the link at the very bottom of the home.html page. It should be the same orange as the mailto: link, instead of grey.

    Thanks for the reply.
I had already used the link > format to change the colour of this and other links.
Emptying the browser cache made no difference on my system, nor did reloading the page, nor did visiting the published page inside of iWeb. Grey everywhere. Other orange links work just fine, but not this one.
I'll check on my XP machine after waiting for the 15 minute bootup.

  • USB keyboards and Live CDs - an inconsistency that is driving me nuts

Hello. I tried to boot up my iMac from the LINUX FROM SCRATCH LiveCD to see if I could install that system. When I tried to, it got to the "boot:" prompt but my USB keyboard would not get recognized whenever I tried to boot (yes, I rebooted a few times). I don't have rEFIt on, and Boot Camp didn't partition yet - but with rEFIt and Boot Camp the keyboard would work SOME of the time. Does anyone know what's going on? I thought Apple EFI handled this when it came down to BIOS emulation.
PS - Has anyone ever tried to boot up the Plan 9 from Bell Labs install CD from the iMac? If so, is the fact that it froze after the second text line related to this?

Hello? This is a problem for me! Does anyone have any information?

  • Is there an add-in for FF that will direct files based on the type? i.e. put graphic files in a folder called graphics, program files in a folder called exe etc?

I would like FF to be able to sort my downloads into categories, to put program files into a folder called exe, to put graphic files into a folder called pics ,etc. Can this be done?

The Firefox download manager isn't set up to do that, but I understand there are a few external download managers that offer a feature like that.

  • Is there an iCal add-in that will accommodate different time zones?

I am a former Windows/Outlook guy, now living in an all-Apple world (iMac on my desktop; iPhone, iPad and/or MacBook Air when I travel, which I frequently do.)
Here is my challenge (something that was easy, easy, easy to do in Outlook):
I want to be able to create events in iCal that will occur in some other time zone without having to do the mental math.
For example, I am sitting at my desk in my home time zone (Eastern Time) and book a flight from Washington to Los Angeles for sometime next month.  What I WANT to do is create an event with a start time of 8:30 am Eastern and an end time of 11:30 am Pacific.  To do that now, I have to mentally say "That's really 8:30 Eastern to 2:30 pm Eastern". Hope I got the conversion right.  If I did, all is good.  The event will show up properly in my iPhone at departure time in DC.  When I fire up my iPhone on landing in LA, the internal clock adjusts, and everything is good. If I make a mental mistake (for example, add hours rather than subtract), I might miss my flight.
I have another trip already on the books to Dallas.  I get an email from a colleague setting up a meeting while I am there.  Regardless of whether I am sitting at my iMac in DC or looking at my MacBook in a hotel room in LA, what I want to is be able to enter the appointment as "2 o'clock Central Time" and be assured it will show up in the proper time in my calendar, regardless of where (or when) in the world I happen to be the next time I look at iCal.
Most of the comments on this forum suggest work arounds. "Just work it out in your head". But I am not talking about doing this occasionally with one or two events.  I do it constantly with literally scores of events occuring in multiple time zones. And there is nothing worse than setting an alarm clock for 3 in the morning in Paris so you can get up to catch that 8 pm Eastern board of directors conference call only to discover you missed the call because you screwed up the math when you entered the call in your calendar.
Like I said. Outlook in Windows does this flawlessly.  But setting up Outlook on my home Mac (in a Windows partition) defeats the purpose of my trying to do it on the software, platform and hardware I prefer to use.
Which is a long winded explanation to get back to my simple question:  is there an iCal add-in or standalone app that plays well with iCal that will let me designate the time zone for start and end times when I create an iCal entry?

It sounds like 1Password may do what you're looking for.

  • Is there an "insert all links" type of feature or add-on for Firefox that works with Thunderbird?

    Hello Firefoxies,
Is there an "insert all links" type of feature or add-on for Firefox that works with Thunderbird or any email app? I want to be able to insert all the links from a Firefox bookmarks folder automatically in to an outgoing email and include the names that I have given to those saved links / bookmarks.
I searched for this add-on on the Firefox and the Thunderbird sites, but I don’t think the one that I found is for what I am thinking of.
What I would like to do is to be able to add all the links in a saved tabs folder, or any bookmarks folder, from Firefox in to the body of an outgoing email preferably in Thunderbird, or any email app... so I could just click and all the links and hopefully all the names that I have given to those links will then appear in the body of an outgoing email automatically, ready for me to then write what I want, plug in an address, and send.
When I did a search of add-ons on the Firefox and Thunderbird sites, I found something called “Open all links 0.3.1” on the Thunderbird site that I think is for the opposite of my description... I think this add-on is to automatically open all the links in an email that is received... '''which IS NOT what I want to do'''... I want to place all the links that I have in a Firefox bookmarks folder in to an outgoing email... the URL to the “Open all links 0.3.1” add-on is below for you to look at just in case I am reading this wrong...

Otherwise, I could not find any add-on that fits my description.

  • There is am add-on that lets you stop over a word and it will give you the opitions of looking uo futher info but I can't find it.

I have an account but it's not accepting my pass word so I had to re-register. That's not my problem though. I don't have a real problem I love Fire Fox but my system crashed and I'm starting all over again. There is an add-on that let's you stop over a word on any page and it will give you the option of looking up more info on that subject ( I think from Wikipedia, but not sure?). It will give you a little box like a comic strip person talking and then you can go to the box. You can then click on the box to get more info. I can't find this anywhere, can anyone help? Thank you.

What you want is APTURE HIGHLIGHTS but unfortunately it is buggy as I found out: [[https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/786091|see thread here ]]

If it happens again the make sure that you aren't suppressing website colors.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

what is the best virus remover and protector for 10.5.8 version of mac os x???  I  have this thing called macprotector that keeps popping up and trying to get into my computer.  I have heard of a maleware remover...

First you do NOT I repeat DO NOT have a virus, currently there are no virus's for OS X.  This means you do not need antivirus software, if you insist on installing antivirus software then I'd recommend ClamXav. You have what is called a Trojan, the primary difference between the two is the user has to give permission for a Trojan to download and install itself. The one you got is going around right now however the good news it's quite easy to get rid of. Please read the following article for instructions.
