There is no "find my iPhone" option in the system preferences iCloud window on my iMac.

It is turned on (as are location services) on my iPhone? and there is a "find my mac" option in the iCloud system preferences window but no "find my iPhone"? All is up to date! All is turned on! Thanks.

There is no Find my... app for Mac. The "Find my Mac" service allows your Mac to be found, but is not actually an app. To view the location of your devices, you have to go to http://icloud.com. This is the computer equivalent of Find my iPhone.

  • IPhone not connected to server for find my iPhone option on the cloud?

I have my new iPhone verified by the AT&T store twice and now the message is Unable to conncet to server when I press accept terms and conditions to set up the iCloud to activate Find my iPhone option. What should I do?

What email provider are you using? If you know your password to the email the easiest and quickest way to get that mail working again is to delete it and then re-add it
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1624 what if I don't have the view option in the System preferences, how do I activate Spaces?

    ...

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
When you open , System Preferences, Personal, is there an Exposé & Spaces listed?
If so, you need to click the blue Spaces button near the top to set preferences, including enabling Spaces and, showing it in the top menu bar if desired. Once enabled, F8 is the default key to enable Spaces, as shown below.

  • I can't find icloud setting in my internet and wireless options in the system preferences though help pages assure me I can. how do I do this ?

How do I set up icloud on my macand my ipad ?

Your signature says you are running 10.6.5: this is not compatible with iCloud. The minimum requirement is Lion 10.7.2; the preference pane does not appear on earlier systems.
You can set up iCloud on your iPad as long as it's running iOS5 or 6:
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html
You are severely limited in what you can do in Snow Leopard: you should update to 10.6.8, and then the situation is described in this page:

  • I cannot bypass basss code lock and not able to restore due to find my iphone option is on?

Unfortuntly I missed my pass code and accordingly had my iphone disabled. I've tried to solve vide apple but all I received was an email but wifi not enabled. I'm stucked now because restoring the backup from itunes requested to disable find my iphone option from the phone first which is not applicable offcourse.
Is there any way to resolve this situation without loosing my data?  If not, how to reset my iphone agin?
    Thanks for help, in advance.
    Regards,

    Hey,
Unfortunately you will not be able to do anything but erase data or ask for Apple's support, sorry. This is an unfixable problem, unless you know someone who can hack back into it, but it's worth just reporting it to Apple for an exchange or erasing your iPhone.
Or you can follow these instructions and fix your problem.
Connect the device to the computer with which you normally sync and open iTunes.
Note: If iTunes asks you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer" section below.
If the device is still disabled, or if iTunes does not automatically sync your device, sync the device with iTunes.
If you have chosen to encrypt your backup, it will contain the passcode. Disable backup encryption before restoring from backup.

  • TS3988 I am using mountain lion.  iCloud works fine with my iMac iPads and iPhone with one annoying exception.  I cannot use the systems preferences on my iMac because I cannot log in.  When entering my apple id and password I get a window saying "You can

I cannot log into systems preferences for icloud on my imac.  icloud works on all devices including the imac, but I get the window "You can't sign in at this time" when using system preferences on the imac.  I am using mountain lion, but it didn't work on lion either.  Help

You may wish to try the following:
    1. Sign out of your account
(If you are unable to do this because System Preferences has frozen, Force Quit System Preferences and try again)
    2. When prompted, opt to delete, contacts, calendars etc from your Mac.
(You are only deleting this data from your Mac, not from iCloud, the data will be reinstated when you log back in. If you need to check that the data is in iCloud before deleting it go to iCloud.com and check each section for data)
    3. Having logged out, check that the iCloud accounts along with their data have disappeared from the Mail, Address Book and iCal Applications.
(If necessary, delete the iCloud accounts from each of these application separately from each Applications Preferences)
    4. At this point it may be worth trying to log into iCloud from the System Preferences iCloud settings again, if this works, all well and good, if it doesn't continue to step 5.
    5. Open your User Library folder in the Finder. (When in the Finder, go to the Go menu, hold down the option key (alt) and choose Library when it appears in the Go menu)
    6. Navigate to Library > Application Support > iCloud and drag the iCloud folder to your desktop. (This action only copies the folder and will provide you with a back up)
    7. Select the iCloud folder again in Library > Application Support and drag it to the trash, enter your administrators password when prompted.
    8. Restart your computer.
    9. You should now be able to enter your ID and Password in system Preferences > iCloud and log into your account. Check the services you wish to use and once you are satisfied it's working as it should, trashh the iCloud folder you copied to your desktop earlier.

  • Network option missing in system preferences

I have .mac and the sharing options in the system preferences window but no network option. Also when I select "open network preferences" on my airport list it doesn't open anything. I may of deleted the option but I am unsure. Can anyone help me out? I am not using time machine yet I need to get a external hard drive before I can lol
    Anyone help me please!

When you open the Network dialog, be sure Airport is turned on and check Ask to join new networks.
Also check "Show Airport status in menu bar" for convenience.
If you click A"Advanced" you should see your list of Preferred Networks unless you lost them.
Be sure under the TCP/IP tab you have selected "Using DHCP" and nothing else.
If your Airport system is encrypted, you either need the password and encryption type/level or you can turn off the encryption as a test (but don't leave it off).

  • Can I stop the iPhone from surfing the internet and still use the "find my iPhone" option?

Hi. Can I use my iPhone without causing internet-costs? I have got a prepaid-card and my iPhone uses the internet all the time - that costs a lot of money. So can I stop the iPhone from surfing the internet and still use the "find my iPhone" option?

Find My Phone REQUIRES an internet connection in order to work. Either WiFi or Cellular Data. So, if you turn off Cellular data, you're defeating Find My Phone.

  • I didnt set find my iphone app in the phone, is there any other way to locate it?

I didnt install the: FIND MY IPHONE APP in the iphone, I just downloaded it on my computer, is the any other way to locate it?

The app is only used to find other devices.  It does not turn on the service, which is done by going to Settings>iCloud, turn on Find My iPhone.
If you didn't do that, there's no way to locate a lost device.  Sorry.

No. It functions when connected to the Internet.

  • Is there a reason Find my iPhone is not working for either iPhone or iPad (iOS5)?

Neither of my Apple mobile products can be seen by Find My iPhone.  They show up as either "No Location Available" on the iPhone (it can't see itself or the iPad) or as "offline" on the computer iCloud app.

Since you have iCloud on your iOS devices, it should be available on your Mac now.
Open System Preferences > iCloud and select: Find My Mac
If your Mac is lost or stolen, follow the instructions here >  What to do if your iOS device is lost or stolen

What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:
