There is no "organize bookmarks" in the bookmark menu?

I am trying to import bookmarks from google chrome and followed your instructions on exporting bookmarks to a file in "My Documents". The file (google bookmarks) is there. When I try the second part of your instructions and click on bookmarks in Firefox there is no "organize bookemarks" in the drop down menu.

"Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in the bookmarks menu.

How do I save and import my bookmarks from another hard drive? When I try to open the installed Firefox on the old drive, it (obviously) opens a browser from the new main drive, free of bookmarks. Is there a way I can save the bookmarks on the old drive without opening a browser?
The guts of my computer were rearranged and I got a new main hard drive. My old one is still in there and I can get stuff from it, but when I go to the Mozilla folder on the old one, I can't figure out if there's anything I can do to get all my bookmarks from that drive to my new one, where Firefox is newly installed.

If you open Firefox then Firefox will always use the default profile folder as found via profiles.ini on your system drive.
You either need to import the file in your current default profile or copy the file to your current profile folder while Firefox is closed.
Firefox 3 stores the bookmarks and the browser history in places.sqlite and no longer creates an HTML backup by default.
There are also (five) JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder within the Firefox profile folder.
You can either copy the file places.sqlite to your Firefox Profile Folder or import the most recent JSON backup from the bookmarkbackups folder of that old profile.

"Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
Go to: Control Panel > Folder Options > "View" tab > under "Hidden files and folders", select "Show hidden files and folders".
You may want to un-check the box "Hide extensions for known file types" to see the file extensions of all files.

• There is not Import link on the Archive-menu where I can import bookmarks från IE.

I want to import bookmarks from IE, but there is no import link in the Achive menu!

Hi,
Please also try this: Bookmarks (Alt + B) > Show All Bookmarks > Import and Backup.

• Using Firefox 3.6.13 for Mac: the Bookmarks menu has stopped showing new bookmarks, although the Bookmark This Page seems to work - is there a limit to the number of bookmarks that Firefox can show?

Using Firefox 3.6.13 for Mac (OS X 10.4.11)

Did you place the new bookmarks in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder?
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/how-do-i-use-bookmarks
If new bookmarks do not show then a possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

• How do I add a bookmark to the Bookmark toolbar permanently and delete it from the Recntly Bookmarked list?

It seems to me that in a previous version of Firefox that one could add a bookmark to the Bookmarks Toolbar and have it stay there.
I like to keep things neat and tidy. Now when I delete this bookmark from the Recently Bookmarked list (or the Unsorted Bookmarks list), Firefox insists only deleting it from the Bookmarks Toolbar as well.
How do I add a bookmark to the Bookmarks toolbar and keep it there? Am I required to keep it in the Recently Bookmarked and/or Unsorted Bookmarks list in order to have it remain on the Bookmarks Toolbar?

* "Most Visited" and "Recently Bookmarked" and "Recent Tags" are examples of so called Smart Bookmarks folders and are not real existing folders.
* Smart folders show a list created by a query of the places.sqlite database that stores bookmarks and history in Firefox.
* Smart folder lists show a maximum of 10 entries by default.
* Bookmarks and history items that show up in a smart folder list are stored elsewhere in another folder and any changes made are applied to the real bookmark or history item.
* If you remove an entry then the list is shifted up and a new entry that wasn't shown previously is added to show 10 entries.
* If you add a new bookmark or visit a website then a new item is added at the top and the entry at the bottom disappears from that list.

• Can you still drag a bookmark onto the bookmark toolbar

Okay i've searched all over the net and have finally given up so i have to ask. From what i understand the site icons are no longer shown in the url bar you now see a security lock/key whatever. From what I've found this is a security feature and was meant to happen. But what I want to be able to do is drag a bookmark onto the bookmark bar as you use to be able to by grabbing the websites display url picture. Is there anyway to do this? I swear I have drug from everywhere and can not figure it out if there is an easy way. Is the only choice now to download a button package and then make your own buttons? I feel as if I am missing something very easy and can also not find a package that will let me use a websites actual buttons.
Thank you for any answers I'm sure this has been asked before and I am just not able to locate what I'm looking for. Also using windows XP and Firefox version 28

To be on the same page with you, when you say, <blockquote>From what i understand the site icons are no longer shown in the url bar you now see a security lock/key whateve</blockquote>
I'm assuming you are talking about this? (see link below)

Site icons are now visible on the tab that page is on (see image below)) (You can also drag that tab into the bookmarks bar) however that security lock means that the site is protected by SSL and is more secure than HTTP
*See The Difference between HTTP and HTTPS
Yes, you are still able to drag that lock icon to your Bookmarks toolbar (if it is hidden, go to Firefox >Options > and click on Bookmarks toolbar (if it's not checked) to enable it. Then simply drag the lock down into the new bar.

Why does the Right-click -> "t" delete a bookmark on the bookmark toolbar, when Right-click -> "t" opens a new tab elsewhere in Firefox. The bookmark toolbar use Right-click -> "w" to open in a new tab. Please change this to "t" to... I keep deleting all my bookmark because you don't make the commands consistent!

If you have accidentally removed bookmarks then use "Organize > Undo" in the bookmarks manager (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks) to get them back.<br />
The Organize button is the first of the three buttons on the toolbar in the Library (Bookmarks Manager).<br />
That only works if you haven't closed Firefox.

Hi guys
I cannot create any bookmarks in the bookmarks toolbar panel. When ever I add a website to the bookmark toolbar panel, it is not displayed in the bookmarks toolbar panel. Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.
*Firefox menu button > Options
*View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the menu bar)
*Right-click empty toolbar area
Use Toolbar Layout (Customize) to open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
*check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar setup

• Firefox changes bookmarks in the bookmark toolbar when resetting windows

As the title states, every single time I reset my Windows PC, the bookmarks in the bookmark toolbar change order, but always to the same position, not randomly (as others have stated). Sometimes, after turning on my PC and trying to start up Firefox, it gives me the option of Safe Mode.
I have read that I should delete my profile, but that would require a lot of time to download every addon again, is there any other way?
I will add the troubleshooting information in case that helps.
Thanks in advance for your time :)

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox
FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link}
FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your
Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more.
In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild
your saved files individually into installable .xpi files.
It will also make backup of files that you choose.

• Rightclick a bookmark on the Bookmarks Tool Bar and click Properties

If I right click a bookmark on the Bookmarks Tool Bar and click properties Firefox freezes and I don't get the properties. Is this a known issue?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See:
* Basic Troubleshooting&#58; Make a new profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

• I have two versions of my bookmarks under the bookmarks menu

I have 2 versions of my bookmarks in the bookmarks window - one after the other, but I can only access the first one in "show all bookmarks" Unfortunately, the second one is the one that is being updated when I save new sites. How can I get rid of the first version that shows up when I try to access bookmarks from the bookmarks menu?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

• On windows 7 pro, how do i add firefox bookmarks to the start menu?

On Windows 7 professional, how do I add firefox bookmarks to the start menu so I can access my bookmarks without opening firefox first?

Only Favorites can be displayed as a submenu of the Start Menu. You can convert your Firefox bookmarks to IE favorites as follows:
# Export your bookmarks to an HTML file.
# Import the bookmarks in Internet Explorer.
# In Firefox, install the PlainOldFavorites extension. This will allow you to create and manage favorites from Firefox.
# Alternatively, if you use both browsers, you can keep bookmarks and favorites synchronized with an extension like Xmarks Sync.
