There is no search bar when I open Firefox.

there is no search bar when I open Firefox. I've been having to use Safari to type in a web address. This started just today

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.
*View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the menu bar)
Use Toolbar Layout (Customize) to open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
*check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar setup

I have used Firefox forever. (I also use Thunderbird.) When I opened Firefox all I get now in the menu bar is the word "Firefox" with the "About Firefox," "Preferences," etc. list. Nothing else. I cannot open Firefox and I cannot quit it, either. I can do nothing with it at all. How can I get it back. I need my hundreds of bookmarks.

  • Why freezes the Adress-Bar and the Search-Bar when I open a PDF in Firefox 4?

The Problem is, when I open a PDF in Firefox 4 (with the Adobe Reader 10 Plug-In) you cannot type anything in the adress-bar or in the Search-Bar! Also when i press the "back"-Button or open another Tab, the Adress-Bar and Search-Bar is frozen! When i press my Home Button and leave the PDF-Site it works fine again! Is this a problem of the Plug-In or a Firefox-Problem?
    Greetings from Germany,
    Patrick

It seems to be a problem with Adobe Reader X Plug-in. Visit adobe.com to download and install Adobe Reader X (even if you already have it). I did this and it said "installing updated patch". Went back to Firefox to check and problem solved! :)
ps. did not need to disable any previous plug-in or even close Firefox.

  • Why does Google come up in my type in bar when I open Firefox?

When I open the web page using Firefox the type in bar is listed as Google??? Why, Is Firefox not my web browser???

Google is a search engine, not a "web browser". Firefox features Google as the default search engine, but you can easily use any search engine you so desire by changing the search engine in the search bar.

  • On my laptop, there is no location bar when I use firefox.

There is no location bar to type in web addresses on any firefox screen. I cannot use the web unless the address is in my bookmarks or I go to google with the website and then choose the website from there.

    Hi pkeoughan,
It sounds like the navigation bar was just accidentally turned off. Don't worry, it's an easy fix. Take a look at [[Back and forward or other toolbar items are missing]] for details. You can also go to ''View > Toolbars'' and enable the ''Navigation tollbar'' and the ''Bookmarks toolbar''.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • When I open Firefox there is absolutely no toolbar at the top. No 'File' 'Edit' 'View' 'Favorites' 'Tools' 'Help' buttons, no anything. Any idea's??

When I open Firefox there is no toolbar at all. I have tried deleting and then re-downloading it, but when I click on the icon on my desktop, all that comes up is a page that says "Widgets, Gadgets, RSS feeds, and more." There is no search box to surf the web, there is nothing.

  • When I open Firefox, there is no place to type in a web address! What happened to it?

When I open Firefox, the tab to type in the web address is not there, nor anywhere else--Where did it go?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.
• When I opened Firefox, Why cursor blinking in address bar?

When I opened Firefox, Why cursor blinking in address bar? It should be on the Google search box. so that i can start searching fastly without clicking on the search box of google.

Hi, you should receive suggestions in the address bar, so please go to Options (cog wheel) - in the 3-bar menu unless you've moved it, > Search tab, and make sure that 'Provide search suggestions' is ticked/checked. Also go to the Privacy tab (Location Bar), and tick/check your preferred options.

  • I have a lot of tabs saved so they open when I open Firefox, but the first tab always changes into my homepage, Google. Is there any way to stop this?

I have 20+ tabs always open on Firefox and it's set to remember them. However, when I open Firefox the first tab changes from what I had open there into my homepage, Google. I can use the "go backward" thing to get to the page I had there, but since it goes back to Google every time I restart the browser that gets tedious.
The only way to solve this that I've found is to just stop trying to use the first tab and let it be Google. However, I'd like some actual solution that stops this from happening if possible.

Thanks for the reply, it seems to have solved my issue.
My tabs are normal and unpinned, I just have Firefox set to open all my current tabs. Safe Mode didn't seem to have this issue, so I disabled Classic Theme Restorer. Several restarts didn't have problems, so I enabled it again and now this isn't happening anymore. Hopefully it stays gone for good and didn't just stop momentarily.
Edit. So as soon as I posted this, it started happening again. More testing definitely points to Classic Theme Restorer as the cause, so I'll have to investigate solutions on that end.

  • When I open firefox, it starts not on my homepage, but on a search page I've never willingly downloaded, and have uninstalled from my computer. Why?

Today, I've had quite some trouble with my computer. I think it was attacked by something sneaky, but I managed to stop it and fix everything. Everything but this one thing.
When I open the firefox browser, it does not automatically go to my homepage, despite having followed every instruction for this to happen. Instead, it opens in a search engine called "awesomehp" which I have, previously to this, never heard of, and never installed. WHen I click the "home"-button, it goes to my actual homepage, and everything is ok.
I have tried to uninstall this...."awesomehp" search engine, but it STILL shows up automatically when I open FireFox. Why? And this is even after I've reset FireFox to its default settings once.
Why does this happen, and what can I do to fix it?
