There is no sound coming from my phone. Only "Headphones" showing on screen

I am no longer getting any sound from my iPhone 6 speaker or phone speaker. When I try and raise the volume it shows "Headphones" not "Speaker" on screen. The phone is not set to vibrate only using the side witch. I have rebooted and reset all settings. I am running iOS 8.1.1. Any help is appreciated.

Clean out the headphone port.

I put a Griffin case on my daughter's iPod Touch 5 and now there is no sound coming from the speaker.  There is sound when we use the headphones.  Is there a mute function that I may have switched on and if so how do I turn it off?
It was a gift bought by her Godparents in January and I live in the islands so I can't just drive it back to the store to have them look @ it!

    HELP!!!!!!!

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • There is no sound coming from my ipod!!

Hi, I am using an itouch 2nd gen. and there is no sound coming from it when i attach my ear phones to it. I have reset the settings, restored it, switched it off many times, still nothing. The earphones are working just fine. Some help would be great!! Thanks!

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you tried resetting the PMU?
I'm not optimistic that this will help any more than the procedures you've already tried, but it won't hurt to try.
Do you still have your OS 9 installation? If so, try booting into OS 9 and see if the problems with the audio are happening there, too. If so, you can bet it's a hardware problem.
How big is your hard drive and how much space remains available on it? If you don't have your OS 9 installation in order to check out whether it's a hardware problem and you have enough available hard drive space, you may want to try an Archive and Install of the OS in order to make sure it isn't an OS X system-wide problem. If that doesn't do it, you could back up your hard drive and restore your software.
All of this may just be spinning your wheels, but it's all stuff you can try before shelling out a lot of money for repairs.

  • Sound coming from both speakers and headphones at the same time in probook 4440s

I have a Probook 4440s with windows 8 pro(64 bit) with IDT high definition codec installed. Yesterday when i was playing some songs i noticed that the sound was coming from both headphones and speakers even when my headphones are plugeed in and my lappy was having no such problems a few hours earliers while i was watching a movie. Please help..

It may be because you have both the internal speakers and headphones enabled at the sametime on your laptop. This might just happen automatically when you plug your headphones in. You need to manage your audio devices on your laptop.
Go to Control Panel> Hardware and Sounds> Manage Audio Devices> Playback Tab (which should already be selected)
In the playback tab there should be a list of all the audio devices you are using on your computer. Right click on the one you don't want to use and click disable. This should stop the sound coming from that audio device.
Remember: You will need to enable that audio device if you want to listen to sound through it again. Your internal speakers won't work once you enable them again. This might also be the case with your headphones. You may also have to do this every time your plug in a device or once you restart your computer.
Another note: Sometimes disabled devices will not show up on the audio device list so once you disable a device it will dissappear. This is an easy fix too. Just right click on an audio device and make sure show disabled devices and show disconnected devices is checked.
    I hope this helps.
(I was using a computer with Windows XP to explain the instructions but it should be similar with your Windows Operating System. You may however have to play around a little on your computer because it may be slightly different)

  • I just bought my macbook and ever 15 minutes there like bubble sound coming from my macbook which is very annoying and I don't know where this sound coming from?

every once in a whiel, randomly, my macbook retnia display which I just purcheased will make a weird bubble sound. it's not the sound that it makes when you send a text message, it's some other sound.
but it happens randomly. i can't figure out what's triggering it. and nothing happens when it makes this sound. the screen doesn't turn back on, i get no notification, no text, no email, no messages from anything, nothing from any of my apps
i have no idea what this random sound is. does anyone have any idea what this is or what it means?

If you just purchaed it, you are still under warranty, (for 1 year) take it in and have it checked out. This is probably just a setting, but your desciption is difficult to follow.
You are still under warranty, take advantage of it!
Do you have any reminders set?

  • There is not sound coming from my ipod.

I have an ipod classic 30G Video. I have tried resetting, restoring, trying different headphones... nothing working so far.

If a restore to factory settings did not resolve the issue, it's likely hardware related as a restore would eliminate the possibility of a software error or data corruption.  And you have already ruled out a bad set of headphones. You'll need to either take or send your iPod in for repair either via Apple or a third party service.

  • Suddenly no sound coming from HP Pavilion 500-339 Desktop

I've had this computer less than a month without any issues. From a couple days ago there is no sound coming from any source (various speakers, headphone jack directly into computer).
I have checked everything, i.e., checked all the external cables, used the Windows diagnostics and checked all sound devices, volume settings, checked for mute etc. No issues have been detected with the audio hardware and drivers.
I've also done a system restore, removed recent Windows updates (within the week), uninstalled and reinstalled the IDT high-def audio drivers and still nothing.  Every time I do a diagnostic it says the audio is working properly yet no sound comes out for anything.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello @Brian13,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that your audio on your HP Pavilion 500-339 Desktop PC is not working. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8), which you can use to restore your computer back to a point in time where your sound worked correctly.
If the Microsoft System Restore does not resolve your sound issue I would like you to use the HP Support document: Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8) to put the original audio driver back in your computer. As this is the driver that came with your computer it should work correctly.
If the above steps do not fix your sound issue I think we should try a backup and recovery of your computer. To backup your personal information and ensure that it is not lost I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), which will ensure your personal files are up to date.
***WARNING!! If you want to keep any emails or bookmarks/favorites you will want to back those up as well as I do not believe they are backed up in the HP Backup process.
Next, I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8), which will you through recovering your computer back to factory settings.
*** IMPORTANT - Your personal files such as libraries, personalization settings, user accounts, and desktop themes are permanently removed. As well the computer settings are returned to the defaults (the way it was when it came from the factory). All apps and software that were installed on the computer when it came from the factory are reinstalled, and their settings are reset to the defaults. Additionally, software, apps, programs, and everything that you have installed or saved on the computer are permanently removed.

  • Why isn't sound coming from my ipod nano?

I recieved a brand new 7th generation ipod nano. no matter what I plug into the device to listen to my music (headphones, earbuds, speakers), there is no sound coming from the device. even when I attempt to use only the built- in speakers, i can hear nothing. video works fine.

First, ipod nano 7th gen does not have a built-in speaker. Second, a brand new nano jack is sometimes ifficult to insert, make sure it is fully inserted or flushed to the ipod body. Cheers!

  • Every time I scroll, there's a clicking sound coming from the top left corner of my macbook

Similar to the clicking sound of my hard drive, every time I scroll, or whenever there is any sort of animation on my screen, there's a similar clicking sound coming from the top left corner on my , around the area where the microphone is. I know the hard drive is at the bottom right corner, so is this a graphics card issue or am I overlooking the issue?

It is better to take the MBP to the Apple store for evaluation.
They have the diagnostic tools to make sure that there is no problem with the computer.
