  • I cannot access the PRIVACY menu from the Tools-Options menu to make changes to cookies and history. I can access every other menu on that page (General, Tabs, Content, Applications, Security, and Advanced. But Not PRIVACY. Please help.

I need to reset/change/clear my cookies, probably clear my cache, and change my history preferences. When I use the Tools-Options choice to bring up the appropriate menu (General, Tabs, Content, Applications, Privacy, Security, and Advanced) all allow me access to make changes (or not), the PRIVACY tab does not open up. It does no allow access to any info contained there in. It is like it doesn't exist or isn't even there. Also, in the Tools menu on the Firefox toolbar, both "Stop Private Browsing" and "Clear Recent History" are grayed out. What gives? Thank you for your help.

This can be caused by in incompatible/malfunctioning add-on. To test if this is the case follow the procedure in the [[troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article.

  • Firefox only keeps 2 days history. I want to keep the last 50 days. I tell Firefox in the Tools:options menu, but still, only 2 days.

Cannot seem to change Firefox so that it keeps more than 2 days history.

You can look at these prefs on the about:config page to make sure that you keep history.
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.history_expire_days (180) (also affects saved form data)
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.history_expire_days_min (90)
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

  • There used to be a special feature on the previouse versions of Firefox. when you close the firefox with multiple tabs opened it displays an option of saving it or closing without saving. but this version specially the 7th doesnot have that.

specially version 3.6 is good on saving the tabs before closing the firefox. but the latest versions should have had more that just this but it doesnt support the saving tabs or may be i didnt see it there. please if it has this feature let me know.
the other thing is the norton toolbar 2011.7.1.3 is incompatible with firefox 7.

Firefox 4 and later versions save the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.<br />
Use "File > Exit" or "Firefox > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox") if you want to restore multiple windows.<br />
You can use "History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.<br />
You may need to click the orange/gray Firefox button to see History.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.
Using the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" setting is a more reliable way to restore session data.

  • A Multirow tabs issue. (Firefox 4 RC1)

Hi. I have a problem when turning on Multirow tabs in any plugin like Tab Mix Plus or Tab Utilities. The tabs just start flashing changing size when a new row should appear. It started with an update from 7 march when tabs scrolling buttons were applied. Was OK before that. Unfortunately there is no native multirow functionality in Firefox and it's much more useful than scrolling imho.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you. Tried this. Seems that it's working, but only with default theme. In others new rows are hiding beside the address bar.
And anyway Tab Mix Plus was good some time ago, but for now the best tab setting add-on is Tab Utilities, imho, cause it combines some more addons like link drag and so on. And it doesn't work, but worked perfectly before update with scroll buttons with any theme.
Frankly speaking, I can't understand why there's no native tab settings in Firefox, just a couple of checkboxes... Scrolling, imho, is very unhandy.

  • Can you change note colors in Stickies and, if not, why is there a Show Color tab in Stickies?

I'd like to change the colors in Stickies as I have them hanging around on my display for a while. Can you do this? If not, why is there a "Show Color" tab in Stickies under the Font menu?
    Any help would be appreciated.

In Mavericks, click on any sticky and then from the Sticky menu, choose color and set it. Stickies will only remain on your display as long as the application itself is running. You might consider dragging /Application/Stickies to your Dock. Right click on the Stickies Dock icon and you will notice Options.
You can make Stickies an open at login item (this is enabled in System Preferences > Users & Groups> Login Items). Each time you startup your Mac, your stickies will appear on your display. You may also wish to select Keep In Dock. Any time that you want the Stickies off your display, you simply right-click on its Dock icon and select Quit. You can choose whether they float over other windows, and can also arrange them in specific order.
The Show Colors menu item brings up the colors palette that allows you to change the font color in selected Sticky note text.

  • No Sync button in Tools/Options, so cannot sync this new PC

Have established a Firefox Sync Key account using my iMac, and am trying to sync my PC, using the sync key. Unfortunately, there is no sync button in the Tools, Options menu after the Advanced button, so there is no opportunity to be able to sync my PC (Win 7 64 bit).

If you did have Firefox 6.0.2 the Sync menu item would be in the Options window. Plus the UserAgent of the browser you used to post here is for Firefox 3.6.3.
Take a look at Help > Troubleshooting Information -> Application Basics > Version and see which version it says that you have installed.

Same problem also happens with Content>Load Images>Exceptions and Privacy>Accept Cookies>Exceptions...

    Hi,
You may have to disable '''Site Preferences''' in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options''' > '''Privacy''' > '''Settings'''..., if it is enabled (ticked).

  • There is no manage account button on my firefox sync tab on windows 7 or xp or ipod

I set up a Firefox sync account on my windows 7 machine, with user name, password and code (which I still have).
Then I set it up on my Windows XP machine.
    The two synced.
Then I set it up on my iPod. The device picked up the then current sync.
Now, if I try to get to my Sync acct via Firefox>Options>Options>Sync there is no "Manage Account" button.
None of my units will sync, and I cannot even follow the instructions to rest the code -- because there is no "Manage Account" button.
This has been going on for at least a week or more.
Can someone advise on what is happening and how to make sync -- sync? Or work?
    Thank you.

When I go to the Firefox button>Options>Options>
I see the Sync Tab which asks me to set up Firefox Sync (which I've already done). The image depicting this is "opening_screen_sync.jpg"
If I click on "Set Up firefox Sync" I see "second_screen_sync.jpg"
If I click on "I already have a Firefox Sync account" Connect button then I see the code it gives with the third screen (I've left the code part out).
Nowhere do I see the screen in the FireFox dialogues that lets me access the Manage my account so I can ask for a reset of the code (if that's necessary).
These pictures are from my windows 7 machine.
Do you also want to see the images from my XP? Essentially it's the same thing.
From my iPod Touch 4 using Firefox Home, when I hit the refresh button the tabs, bookmarks and history remain the same even though my Windows 7 Firefox has changed significantly.
No unit picks up changes from any other unit. Even though originally synced.
Is this the information you where asking for? If not, please feel free to guide me into directly what info you are seeking.
Thank you for your time and patience.

  • Every time I open Firefox, a second "Manage Sync" tab automatically opens. Why is this happening?

When I launch Firefox I get a tab that automatically opens bringing me to the "Manage Sync" window. Today when I launched Firefox there were two "Manage Sync" tabs. I dont know if this is an issue with 35.0.1 or not, but I just reinstalled windows on my desktop and laptop, and the tabs are automatically opening on both systems. I'm not seeing an option to stop this from happening.....whats going on?

    Hi stringboi,
What settings are set for your homepage when you open Firefox?
    </blockquote>
My issue has been solved. It was my homepage settings. I must have set Gmail to my homepage while the "Manage Sync" tab was still open and it made both tabs my homepage =)
