There is no tones tab on my itunes

I've looked up how to make the tones tab appear and everybody gives the same answer: you go under preferences, general tab, select ringtones/tones. But I don't even have that option; there is no ringtones/tones box to check. I haven't found any link that says another way to fix this..

The Tones tab across top will appear when you select the iDevice in iTunes.
In order to see Tones on the left side of iTunes, iTunes prefs > General.
You should see this...

Sounds like there is something wrong with the rigntone since it won't properly import to the tones folder and when it was there earlier the Tones sync setting tab still wasn't visible. I suggest you either re-make the ringtone or consider making it using iTunes rather than an app (as described here: Create free ringtones with iTunes 10 video - CNET TV).

Confirm the following before trying to sync the ringtone to your phone:
That it is really a ringtone: right-click on the file in iTunes, select Get Info, on the Summary tab it must say Kind: Ringtone
That the ringtone is 40 seconds or less in length
That you have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos" on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings
That you have a checked the box next each of the ringtones you want to sync to your phone
That you checked "Sync Tones" on the Tones tab of your iTunes sync settings

"Reset using the summary tab".....there IS no summary tab!!!

iTunes keeps telling me to restore the settings on my iPod using the summary tab because it can't read my iPod. There IS no summary tab on my iTunes, and I DO have the latest version. Can someone please help?

the "summary tab" (if you have the lastest version, itunes7) should come up automatically when you connect you ipod to to your computer. if it doesn't try this:
connect you ipod to your computer
if itunes deosn't auotmaticaly open up, open itunes
click on your ipod's name next to the ipod icon
a picture of your ipod should appaer with deatails next to it (the summary page)along with buttons like update and restore
that should be it and i hope my advice wasn't confusing for you
if you have problems getting your ipod to connect to your computer try reading some of the other topics in the forum for more info.

iIn iTunes - click on the Tones tab. Now go to the menu - select "File" - "add file to library" - browse to your file - select it and thats it.

No. Its not possible.
Alternatively, create another user account in your computer. Install iTunes in that account with the library you wish to sync.

They all tell me to go to the DEVICES tab on itunes and select IPAD then sync. YUP seem simple, BUT there is not DEVICES tab listed on my itunes and it does not list IPAD. Years ago I set up my IPOD no problem and that is listed, but not the new IPAD. Can anyone help? I would love to be able to actually watch films on my IPAD!! thanks

If you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the left-hand sidebar on it via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC - when connected (and if your computer's iTunes is up-to-date) your iPad should then appear on that sidebar under a 'Devices' heading :
If you select the iPad on that sidebar you can then use the Movies tab on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to select and sync that film to your iPad's Videos app.

Tones section not working in itunes library and tones tab is missing in i phone ...

1st issue
On mac OS 10.9.2
tones tab is missing in the i phone tab bar
2nd issue
and also ringtones are not getting added to itunes library 11.1.5
i created AAC version file and changed the extension m4r version file and created Tones folder in itunesmedia still cant see in the tones section.
These files are getting added to music section but not tones section.. WHY...

My app downloads are stuck waiting. There is no 'downloads' tab in iTunes. Very aggravating. I sign into iTunes. No download tab. I sign not App Store. No download tab. 2 apps stuck on 'waiting'. Have reset iPad2 - no progress.

Also, I'm unable to delete the 2 apps. So they just sit there taking up space.
I'd like to at least be able to start the downloads or delete the apps. I can't do either.

There is no "Music" tab in "Purchased" in iTunes Store

What country is your iTunes Store set to? Many countries' iTunes Stores do not sell music.
If you want to look at a different country, click the flag at the lower right. A dialog will come up where you can choose the correct country.

Without knowing current status of the iPod:
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
