There isn't enough bandwidth to maintain the chat (brand new iMac)

When trying to do a video link with another Mac user over AIM I often get the "There isn't enough bandwidth to maintain the chat" message." Both of us are on broadband. A few times I got a connection but it was all pixalated. IM text works fine. Video... not at all.
This iMac is only 2 days old and so far everything is great. I DID migrate from Tiger on a Mini so maybe I got some old system file somewhere?

Aim and iChat Video are compatible.
iChat can potentially send a pic of 640 X 480 pixels (0.3Mp) at 30 Frames a sec.
That's the same as trying to send a 10Mp pic every second.
(As a rough guide, a .jpg of twice the dimensions is about 500kb = about 250kb for the same size = 75kbps
Or a 22sec movie I have is rated at 135kbps)
The quality of Skype is a lot less than this which is why it tends to work but still be jerky as the Satellite end is at it's limit.
Yes, Skype uses a different Video protocol to that used by iChat and AIM (or even MSN or Yahoo or GoogleTalk)

It means you do not have enough Space on your Device and need to create More Space on Your Device by Deleting some items off your device.

Not enough bandwidth to maintain connection

Okay here is my problem- I'm a college student living in an off campus type of dorm sharing an internet connection with many other people. My sister and I have tried to have video chat's using ichat. We both have macbooks however it seems like each time we try it says there is not enough bandwidth to maintain the connection. This applies to audio chats too. We also have our setting to bandwidth limit as being none. The next thing I am curious about is that on ichat certain people have three layers representing their video and audio chat capabilities. I know I should have three layers since I have all those capabilities but I don't. Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Because the total bandwidth is being shared among lots of people, your connection speed is likely to suffer, especially at peak periods. Have you tried at different times of the day to see if there's any improvement?
You could check the QuickTime streaming speed:
System preferences>QuickTime>Streaming
If it's set to Automatic, change it to 1.5 Mbps.
Also, set the iChat bandwidth limit to 'none' (iChat> Preferences> video).
If that fails, try the video version of Skype instead:

I'm a noobie to Macs and am getting the error -
"There is insufficant bandwidth to maintain the confrence...??"
I'm gussing I dont have a big enough bandwidth...! Ok cool But, what sort of bandwidth do I need??
I am currently running on a ADSL 256k/64k connection. Is this fast enough?? or am I doing something wrong?

There answer is not that straight forward.
The quotes Minimum for iChat is 100kbps Up and Down.
The absolute Min is 50kbps throughput in real time before the Error message appaears.
Testing your connection speed may confirm that you are getting about 80% of the quoted figure (about 51kbps). iChat will use about 80% of what is left (about 40kbps).
So you are going to need an Uplink of at least 256Kbps (based on the next step down is likely to be 128).
I know that this can be difficult to get is Australia.
Some people in OZ do manage with a 128k upload.

I have an ipod touch 5th generation, bought a new laptop and authorised it. when i try to sync it says it's not possible because there isn't enough space to hold everything in the itunes library.it won't give me the option of choosing what i want to sync.

I already know that i can't fit everything on my ipod but when using my old laptop i was able to choose what i wanted to sync. Thanks but I think it has something to do with the 'restore'. in the newest iTunes 11, when I click on the tab "iphone", it redirects me to the "welcome to your new iphone" page and asks about doing a 'restore'. I already did a 'restore', but it went to the original factory settings and I want to 'restore' to my lastest back up as of April 12. When I choose that option, it says my iphone doesn't have enough space. I don't know how much I need to delete in order to make it work. I've deleted lots, but it only has 4.1 GB available. I'm not sure why this isn't enough to do a 'restore'. I don't want to delete all my photos and videos, but maybe I will have to?...7.7GB is used up for that. I can't sync or do ANYTHING...

Does anyone else think that the AppleMac group of products are marketed in a greedy way? I have MacBook Pro 10.5.8 and am now told that I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard to sync my new iPad. Of course there isn't enough memory on the MacBook? I'm angry!

I have MacBook Pro 10.5.8 with Leopard and am now told that I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard so that my system can download the relevant iTunes upgrade to sync my new iPad and get my audiobooks (which don't appear anywhere on the device right now). Of course there isn't enough memory on the MacBook and Snow Leopard costs more also? I don't have financial resources to pay for all the new memory requirement and related upgrades they say I need just to sync my iPad with my purchases.

Thanks for the reply but I already knew this. $20 for Snow Leopard which asks for 5gb free memory. I can only see that I have 4 gb (which I feel is rather a pathetic amount of available memory for any computer). To upgrade this computer's memory will cost another fee (I haven't researched this yet but gather it's more than $20). Apart from that:
Illustrator CS5 cannot use more than 3 GB of RAM, no matter how much is installed. OS 10.9 causes all kinds of problem even with newer versions of Illustrator.

Look at the USB stick in Disk Utility and check whether it may be partitioned or have other software on it taking up space.

MS Access 2013 - There isn't enough free memory to update the display

Did the error message pop-up with the special Access database or the some other databases?
If it only happened with the special Access database, it might be caused by the database damaged. Please try to Compact and Repair feature mentioned in the following article:

For resolving your issue, you are able to do as the followings :
1.Close any SkyDrive related process
2.Open a command prompt (not PowerShell), and change to the directory where Microsoft Office 2013 is installed by typing the command below:
cd C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\
3.Then type “groove.exe /clean /all” to clear all SkyDrive Pro cache and settings, setting it back to default again

My iTunes Library is on my computer, I have done a backup manually, and all of my music is on an external hard drive (as well as my iTunes library).

Thanks a lot Recycle bin is empty, I will move some files from the C drive to an external hard drive, then do the update, and then move the files back. Any files you recommend not moving to the external hard drive at all?
