There's a click sound (akin to a cowbell) each time I release a piano key..

Hi, I'm new to GarageBand.
I'm having a problem that I can't figure out how to resolve:
*There's a tick/click sound (akin to a cowbell) each time I release a piano key (Yamaha Clavinova).*
No problems with instruments (they play fine) and no problem with recording tracks. But for the life of me I can't get rid of that clicking (which is often louder than the instrument itself), therefore unable to focus on recording.
I appreciate any help.

Can you play the song in iTunes?
If you can't the song file is probably corrupt and needs to be replaced.

  • Every time I scroll, there's a clicking sound coming from the top left corner of my macbook

Similar to the clicking sound of my hard drive, every time I scroll, or whenever there is any sort of animation on my screen, there's a similar clicking sound coming from the top left corner on my , around the area where the microphone is. I know the hard drive is at the bottom right corner, so is this a graphics card issue or am I overlooking the issue?

It is better to take the MBP to the Apple store for evaluation.
They have the diagnostic tools to make sure that there is no problem with the computer.

  • There are no clicker sounds

in internet explorer, when i click on something, there will be some clicking sound. when i type something in the yahoo or google search, there will also be some clicking sound. but there are no clicking sounds in firefox.

In general, this is by design. Click sound is a bit disturbing, but if you really want it back, try this addon: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1030/ Navigational Sounds]

  • Pup up sound each time changing application or using key pad

Pup up sound each time changing application or using key pad

The problem is obviously due to the replacement ribbon and not something we can help you with here. Only thing I can suggest is to bring it back to the repair shop that replaced the ribbon and get them to sort it out.

  • Is there a way to annotate a PDF by adding a text box any where on the screen rather than having to click on the text box Icon each time? It was like this before I downloaded Yosemite.

I use the Preview app to annotate my notes for class. It use to be where I could add text where ever I wanted on the screen just by double clicking. Now since I downloaded Yosemite I have to click on the text box icon at the top each time and it adds the text box in the middle and I have to move it to where I want it. This is very inconvenient for class. Any suggestions on how to get the old preview back or fix this problem?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • "non-responsive script" -- appears on screen/ extreme slows down or freeze/field can appear as many as 7 times each time i click on stop "non-responsive script"/each time the field returns immediately on screen.Frustrating!I dislike freeze or slow...

I researched the net and a lot of people are having the same problem, but did not find answers.
    1. I turn on the PC and experience very slow to open firefox.
    2. Then a field pops up "Non-responsive script may be what is slowing down your computer". There is computer language written in the field. In this field are 2 small fields to click on: "continue" or "stop script". I can click on stop or continue numerous times and no reaction. Then I click on close no reaction. Then finally it goes away only to pop back up as many as 6 or 7 times. It can occasionally take as long as 20 min. to open the browser. Other times the computer is just slowed down.
    3. There appears to be no pattern as to when this "non-responsive script" field can appear. Even when I first turn on the PC and have not opened the browser yet it can appear in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
    4. Any suggestions or help you could provide would be appreciated.

  • Odd clicking sound from the speakers

There's a clicking sound from the speakers all the time, even when I'm not playing music. My PowerBook is only 1 week old, and I haven't dropped it or anything. Does anyone know what this is? Whenever I plug in my earphones or speakers, the sound stops.

I wish I knew. Having the same problem. Comes and goes. Presently it's happening and it BUGS. In the past I've tried disabling some of my extra scripts and software (especially extra preference panes), but you're probably not in the same boat there, having such a new machine.
Here's hoping someone has a solution!

  • Powerbook making clicking sound and running slow

I have had my powerbook for 3 years. Just recently it started running very slow and spinning beach ball comes up alot. There is a clicking sound coming from the top left corner of the keyboard by the speaker. When the clicking starts is when the beach ball comes up. It doesn't happen all the time. This occurs about every couple of minutes and then goes away. Once the clicking noise goes away the computer runs fine. I have ran disk utility, onyx and techtools (no errors have come up). Nothing has seemed to fix the problem. Can anyone give me some advice on what might be the problem. Thanks for your help.

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
That sounds like a hard drive possibly beginning to fail. However, it's located on the left side under the palm rest. In the upper left corner of the keyboard, the only moving part is a fan, however, if that were doing something odd it shouldn't cause the beachball to come up, which leads me to think it's a hard drive issue. Next time you hear the ticking, see if it could be coming from under the left palm rest area.
So, ensure that your important data is backed up, and do it regularly, if not doing that already. Assuming it is your hard drive, you can either live with it, or replace the hard drive. (Don't know if you have Applecare, since you said your system is 3 years old). You may have a 4200rpm drive in there today, with 5400rpm being mainstream today, and 7200rpm the faster option. Sizes go up to 160GB in 5400rpm and 100GB in 7200rpm. Seagates come with a 5 year warranty versus 3 year for most other drives.
If you're handy, you can do the replacment yourself or an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple can do it. If Apple or AASP does the replacement, make sure they write on the service order that you want your old hard drive returned to you. Recently, there was a person who was surprised to find that Apple may retain the drive as a trade in on the replacement drive. Also, if it were me, I would specify I want a new drive and not a refurbished drive.

  • How to turn of the "new tab/window" click sound in Firefox 4?

I have just installed Firefox 4.0.1 on Gentoo Linux.
Any time I open a new tab or window, there is a "click" sound. It sounds deliberate, like a notification.
The sound persists even when turning all addons off.
How can I disable that sound?

I tested this on my coworkers iPhone 5 running iOS8, and it does not occur for him. So it must be a bug. I am posted a bug report. Here is video of the issue happening: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6t7gwmvj0gc3wvh/IMG_3519.MOV?dl=0

  • Click sound when opening/closing cover

I've had the ipad 2 and Apple cover for 2 months.  When I first got it, there was a click sound when opening or closing the cover.  There is no sound anymore when opening/closing.  Did I change a setting somehow which caused this?

On the new iPad, the switch next to the volume rocker has two functions, depending on how you have it set in 'Settings.'  There's a section in General called Use Side Switch to:.  You can either use it to Lock Rotation or Mute.  When it is set to Lock Rotation and the switch is pushed to the left, yes, the rotation is locked, but when it is set to Mute, and the switch is pushed to the left, all sounds are muted, including the sound for when closing the cover.

  • MacBook making a clicking sound

Yesterday I was using my macbook and suddenly it started to make clicking sound. This is the first time I have heard this sound. I called apple and they said it was one of the fans and that it was normal. Has anyone else had this problem. I really think there is something wrong with it because it sort of sounded like a dead hard drive sound. The sound lasted for about 2 minutes and then it went away.
    Please Help

    ...
By the way, did you look at the threads I mention
    above? ...
Anyway, thanks for going to the trouble of onsite
investigative work on this question! Much appreciated.
I looked at the threads, and other than the references to the Apple tech guys claiming these were bad drives, I didn't see anythng beyond my opinions, speculations. Much is opinion based on logic, historical experience based on hard drives of ages past.
In my case, a couple of things. A few years back, I had a Quantum drive die on me and it make a thop sound, but it was loud. There was no denying the sound. But, that drive had a physical presence about itself. And, it was almost impossible to get to the data to be able to grab what I could and back it up. Eventually, I gave up and tossed the drive. The sound was definitely undeniable.
You asked if mine makes the noise. OK, I decided to shut everything in my room OFF. No fans, no TV. Nothing. Not even birds outside chirping. I then realized just how noisy this little computer is. I heard very faint mooooing. Indeed, I had a whole herd of cows in this computer. They stopped mooooing when I booted up Parallels.
I then listened really hard for about five minutes. And I heard it. A thounk/thop sound. There it was. About once a minute. Unpredictable. Not equally spaced at all. Sometimes it would thop a few seconds apart, sometimes a minute apart.
It is exceedingly difficult for me to hear it, but I have 58 year old ears. I called my 14 year old nephew in the room, and after bribing him to remove his ipod ear-buds, had him listen. He listened, stayed still (a miracle by its own right), and listened, and listened. He couldn't hear anything. Maybe he wasn't focused, I dunno.
I'm wondering if it might be page-swapping activity for the virtual memory file? Could it be a thermal cooldown command? At any rate, mine thops. And it moooos.
So, preferring ignorance, I turned the room fan back on, let the birds start chirping, and resumed using my computer.
I'm still leaning to the idea that this is all very normal. My only historical evidence with a failing drive that make thoping noises is data corruption or inaccessible files that have viewable file names, but they are inaccessible. And finally, all those Dells at the lab making thoping noises.
I dunno.... I really would love to see an official paper from Apple, or anyone else on this. I am convinced there is a "good" thop, and a oh, no-so-good "thop".

  • Clicking sound between shots

    HELP!!
I've captured all of my footage into final cut express (camcorder: Sony HDR HC7) and there's an audio problem. I've noticed that final cut captures video in pieces from camcorders. I've taken these pieces, placed some I/O points on them and put them in the timeline. In the canvas, when I play the entire project, there is this 'click' sound between each clip. No matter where the I/O points are, as soon as one clip ends and the slider continues onto the next clip, this clicking sound happens. I've tried exporting the video and it's still there!! When I preview the clips in the viewer and there is no click. Please help me someone!!
    Brendan

    Hi(Bonjour)!
What are clips and sequence properties? (select their icon and use contextual menu to get this info).
    Did you render audio mixdown?

  • Saffire clicking sound when recording

I am having a problem with my Saffire. I just got it in today.
I set it up, connected my mic, played around with it to learn the controls, etc. So I load Logic Pro 7.2, and I record on track 1. I then listened to the track playback in my headphones connected to the Saffire. So no problems recording on track 1.
Having only one mic connected to my saffire, I go to track 2, and set it for input 1. I start to record track 2, and I hear a clicking sound. The audio is recorded to track 2, but the entire time recording, I hear this click sound that wasn't there when I was recording track 1.
I thought I maybe did something wrong, so I started a new song. Recorded on track 1 with no problems. Then went to record track 2, I hear the clicking sound during the recording. Playing back both tracks recorded, there is no clicking sound.
Anyone know why this is so? I'm using a MacBook 2.0GHz Core Duo, 2GB ram, recording on the internal drive. I downloaed the universal binary versions of the plugins and software for the saffire, and have the latest firmware. Running the latest version of Mac OS.
Also, when I'm in the saffire control app, I can't choose Preferences from the menu. It's grayed out. Is this normal?
    Thanks,
    Bryan

It's rythmic clickin.. sounds like a metronome, but I don't have one playing. I even deleted the click track. Also, I created a new song.. and I hear the clicking even recording the first track if I have the playback in my headphones. So if I have my Saffire control panel set to TRACK, I hear the clicking when I'm recording to Logic.
I didn't change the I/O buffer size, I'll have to check to see what it's on.
