"There's a problem with a previous billing purchase"?????
If I try to update an app it'll say that. What can I do? I have a feeling it's slacker radio be use I used them for like 3 months without paying. I've tried to see if I could pay hem directly but I can't. I have 26 apps that need to be updated but I can't until fix this problem.

Does the name and address on your credit card match exactly the name and address on your iTunes account, and have you checked with your card issuer to see if they are ones who are declining it ? can't download anything from app store or itunes. everytime i try to install an app i get this error "there is a billing problem with a previous purchase. please update ur payment method". i have recently changed my visa debit card and home adress and when i make these changes i still get the same error.
will u please help me out?Are you listing the billing address for the card correctly? The address in the iTunes/MAS account must match the address on your bill exactly.

I am trying to download FREE apps but I can't download any without billing information. Showing up and saying there was a problem with a recent purchase and when I put credit card details it is saying its declined, help? I can't download no apps until this is fixed?
This is happening to me too. I'm looking for anyway to fix this its getting very annoying not being able to update apps.

That can mean that you have an outstanding balance in your account. Have you logged in and viewed your account?

Why won't the App Store let me download things that are free, just because I don't have money on my card sometimes, it's free so I just don't get it??
You can try to make a new account on iTunes Store if you didnt have yet.
I had the same problem with iTunes Store, the only thing you can do is to put some money on that credit card you are using with you account. iTunes Store already keeping some money for the last purchase you made you can see all info on the Account option and then Purchase history ... -

So I recently updated my iPod and it crashed while doing this and made me restore my iPod, which took off all of my apps and music. Once my iPod was restored I tried to dowload my music but then it told me to sign in to view billing information. I checked through it and when I pressed done it told me my payment method was declined, and then earlier today I tried to download a free app and the same thing happened.

I have an Australian card associated with itunes and the App Store. However, I am no longer in Australia and I wish to change my country of residence and card to the UK/English. When I try to change country, it says there's a problem with a previous purchase, meaning I have no money on the Australian card and therefore the previous purchase cannot be billed.
The only way I can pay for the previous purchase is by adding an English card but it won't let me do this.
Does this mean I have to somehow put money on the old Australian card to pay for the previous purchase? Or is there a way I can transfer the bill to an English new card?

ArronYou are right, but how could i send it to Apple? when the phone company first replaced my iphone they had in stock alots of iphones and they just sent mine back to Apple and gave me a new one, so all i did is to give them my phone, but now how could i sent it to Apple? and i cant send it by myself, and the store wont do that, its a lost for them.. so sending it to Apple wasnt an option from the begining.
and for the record, i dont think the store where i bought it is an authorized shop.. its just a store who boughts phone's from Apple in a low price and sells it in much more money.. -

I recieved an error message during the purchase of an album, stating there was a problem with the apple store purchase. It led me to believe that the purchase did not go through, aas it never downloaded. A susequent purchase did go through and downloaded. How dod I retrieve the lost purchase?

They might just be temporary holding charges which will disappear off your card within a few days or so.

For your credit card not being accepted (it is a credit card, not a debit card ?), then is the address on your iTunes account exactly the same (format and spacing etc) as on your credit card bill : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 ? If it is then you could try what it says at the bottom of that page :
If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorisations have the correct information on file.
