There's a small (tiny) grey dot on my screen.

Any idea on how to fix this - i think something's happened to the led lights (or whatever they're called). Would this be covered by the guarantee?

Hello:
I suggest you take it in to an Apple store or call Applecare with a warranty problem.

  • Why there is a small black blinking dot got on FLV video??

I have 11 FLV videos in my captivate file and when i published it  there is a small black blinking dot on all my videos. Does anybody have the same problem? I checked the original videos and the dot is not there.

I don't have experience with FLV doing that, but that sounds similar to what happens when the slide quality is not high enough to support the graphic objects on a slide.
Have you tried increasing the image quality for the slides with video to 'high' or 'optimized?'

  • Strange white, grey dots after editing time and date

Hi, I have a strange problem with iWork Pages (and Numbers as well). When I use the "edit date & time" option or double click on the selected date in my file... Well, each time I use it, one white dot appears on my screen. The dot is more like a very small white square with grey stroke. After using "edit date & time" there many of these squares. Only thing I can do to make them dissappear is to quit Pages (or Numbers) whit Cmd+Q and start it again. The screen is clear then until I use the time editing button again.
Does anyone have a clue what's happening?
I use a 13" MacBook Pro 2010 whit Mountain Lion.
I didn't such problems some time ago. I dont' think it is because of Mountain Lion, I think that it started some time ago on Snow Leopard after one of the iWork updates, but I'm not sure.
P.s. I'm attaching a screenshot of this issue. What on earth are those grey dots above the date???

Sadly, it didn't help. I've reinstalled iWork from my DVD. Twice.
First time with your script, reinstalled, updated from App Store. Same ugly dots again.
Second time I've removed manually iWork09 folder in the apps directory, then deleted Library->Application Support->iWork '09 and User->Library->Application Support->iWork '09 as well.
What I also did this time was to skip update process and check if the DVD version works fine, but... it doesn't.
Maybe it is something wrong with Mountain Lion? What could those dots be anyway?

  • ITunes "Other" Problem & My Music Won't Sync It Only Shows Up In A Grey Dotted Circle. Why ?

On my iTunes "other" section it takes up way too much space and idk what it actually is in the "other" files that have it like that. When I try to put songs on there, it won't download to my phone. It only shows a grey dotted circle next to the songs and they're all grey as well. I've deleted songs from iTunes as well as my iPhone & still the same issues. Can someone help me with this?

I had this exact problem, but I think I've figured it out. Here's what i did step by step
    - connect iphone with usb cord
    - go to music tab under device, and uncheck sync music and apply changes
( at this point there was no music on my phone)
    - go to summary and check off manually manage music and videos
-drag the playlists i want to the sidebar under device (a green plus sign came up)
this worked after trying countless suggestions and my music synced right away.

  • Grey Dots on Display

I have a 6 month old MBP. About 2 months ago I noticed a large grey dot about 2 mm in diameter on the bottom of the screen. Would have taken it in but I am in Europe until next month.
Today I noticed 4 - 6 more in the vicinity of the larger dot. It seems they are multiplying.
Is this what a dead pixel looks like on an LED?
Anyone know Apple's policy on this?
Does there have to be a certain number of pixels dead or defective before they replace it?

Hey, I bought my MBP in Jan 07 and by May I started to notice grey spots on my screen and also what looked like a hair in my screen. Well what looked like a hair might have actually been a hair and eventually disappeared at the bottom of the screen. Once I got out of school i took my MBP to a mac store and they replaced the screen. I was only without my laptop for about 4 days.
I have started noticing grey dots again on my replacement screen starting last month, and will be bringing in my MBP tomorrow...

  • I have flashing grey dots in my calendar and the battery is draining very fast

    Hi,
My battery has started to drain very quickly in the last couple of days. it now only lasts about 3 hours after a full charge. After playing with it for hours, I can only find one strange thing. The grey dots in my calender (that show when you have an appt) are constantly blinking. I believe this may be draining the battery. Does anyone know why these are blinking and how to stop them.

You can't downgrade IOS - there is already an ongoing discussion re: battery see link below

  • Grey dotted circle deleted half of my library

I tried to sync about 25 songs and there was a grey dotted circle, so I searched how to fix it.  After syncing and unsyncing all music and doing several things requested by people, about half of my library is now gray and dotted. This includes music that I purchased from iTunes, downloaded from a different website, and copied from a CD. It started with 25 and now I am missing about 400 songs that were on my phone about an hour ago.

Worse yet, when it says its done syncing the items are listed in the phone, but if you click them, it scrolls through at light speed until it hits the next track that actually exists on the device.    And the missing songs are completely random..   From uploaded CDs it will be a random track in the middle of the album missing.
Same for itunes store purchases.    ***!!!!

  • Grey dotted circle itunes

    Hi
I updated my Itunes to latest on 11/07/13.  When I attempted to sync my ipad retina display manually selecting playlists and albums, i see some tracks with grey dotted line next to them in playlists under the devices. These are my own creations, not bought, not downloaded from some site.  I have synced these songs hundreds of times over past several years without any problem.
Looks like it is due to a new bug in the latest itunes update.  Apple: this needs immediate attention.almost Ll remedies suggested in the forums are not applicable since this problem was never there earlier.

    same frustration here...
itunes wont sync my large (~5k songs) library to my ipad .  i have gone through the sync process many times. it seems apps are properly syncing... i only have a few books and those seem fine too.. strange thing is the songs appear as if they are on the ipad.. however when i select them to play the file must be missing because it just skips the song to the next song and displays a red square surrounded by a red circle. (by the way... what's with all the apple hieroglyphics these days.. what's a dotted circle? whats a red square surrounded by a red circle?)
i recently wiped my computer hard drive and reinstalled a windows. after reinstalling itunes i copied the the itunes library files back to their rightful places and itunes seems to work fine with all my original library, playlists, etc.
when i sync to my ipad... the music doesn't transfer... lots of dotted circles...
i tried the idea of wiping all the music off the ipad (by deselecting 'sync music' in itunes). hasnt' worked... itunes thinks there is No music on the ipad... and yet all the music still 'appears' on the ipad, many of the songs don't play, yet several do play. makes no sense.
This process was a whole lot better in the past when itunes actually showed you want was happening during the sync process... now it's just a black hole of 'waiting for changes to be applied' and 'waiting for items to copy'.

Hello This circle thing has been bugging me for days I have been making ringtones from my libary of music which is very easy to do. The difficult bit is when i add them to tones to sync with my phone they appear as shaded out with a tick in the box with a small dotted grey circle. I have tried everything and been very unsucessful but yesterday i managed to get my tones synced with my phone but it took me for ever so I would suggest if you are going to make ringtones do a few alltogether and then do it.
The only way I could get it to work was take the tick out of the box in the summary tab manually manage music, which in turn when i connected my i phone it took all my music and tones off my i phone 5 I then had to sync all the libary back to my phone whilst it was doing this click on the tones tab and tick the boxes of the new tones you want to add and press sync while  the libary is still updating and hey presto all new tones were on my phone along with all my music again. As soon as this is done please tick the box in summary to manage music manually as the next time you connect your phone it will take all your music and data off. I know this is a long way round the proplem having to take your entire content off and put it all back on but its the only thing that worked for me. Oh by the way after you have done this do a back up either to your computer or to i cloud so no data is lost.
    Hope this helps
    This honestly works xxx

  • About every 10 photos in my iPhoto library I get a grey dotted box.  wheres the photo?

about every 10 photos in my iPhoto library I get a grey dotted box.  wheres the photo?

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff: What version of iPhoto. What version of the Operating System. Details. What were you doing when the problem arose? Did it ever work properly? Step-by-step descriptions of how you got to this issue. If something doesn't work, are there error messages? What happens when you try to do this thing? And what steps have you tried already to solve the issue. With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that a helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • There's a soft white dot on the screen of my new MacBook Pro Retnia

There's a soft white dot on the screen of my new MacBook Pro Retnia That is visible especially when the background is light. It isn't a sharp dot but rather a soft blurred looking dot. Does anybody else have something like this or does anyone know what it is? I'm thinking its s dead pixel but it doesn't look like one that i've seen on other lcd displays.
I set my desktop background to a 50% grey and that's how I found it. Now that I did, i can't stop looking at it. I tried to take a pic of it its in the center of the photo. Its not easy to see on the photo but, its very easy to see on the display. Oh and its not dirt or something on the surface. Not sure if i should go to the genius bar on it. I am worried that it may get worse. Any input is appreciated.

I also had this problem, same make and model and specifications as you have. Brought it into Apple and also called them about. They stated they have not heard of this yet although I find that hard to believe with the # of cases on this being reported. Must have been a bad lot or batch of Retina MBP's that were made and this got by quality control. But they were okay with giving me a new one on the spot.
As you said, doesn't show on darks but on whites; oh boy it sure does and it is annoying on photo editing and documents where white is all you see; about 1.5mm x 1mm big and bright like a little star. Very hard to detect at first unless you have the white background up as wallpaper.
I sent my MBP back for a replacement and told them I did not want a repair on a computer that was less than 3 weeks old. Stuff happens and no one is perfect so long as Apple and their resellers stand by and make amends by issuing new MBP's. I did not buy mine via Apple direct this time, but rather used a authorized Apple reseller and fortunately they agreed to issue a new one. Keeping fingers crossed.
