There's No Camera Connected - OS X Mountain Lion

Please help! I've been searching for the solution why my built in camera doesn't recognized after some updated just a few days ago. I have a macbook air mid 2012 and my operating system is OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5. Will my mac camera work again if I upgrade it to mavericks? Please give me solution. Thanks!
-Sarah

The upgrade to 10.9 is not a cure for your issue.  Use Apple's troubleshooting article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 to be certain your problem is not application or user specific.
If your problem is the same with both Apple and third party camera apps in every user account you test, use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions and then download and apply the latest Combo Update.  For your Mac OS 10.8.5, the current Combo is at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1676.
Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart that completes the Combo update.
Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes correct software problems, but, if your trouble remains after using the latest combo update, Reinstall OS X Mountain Lion.

  • I Bought a Macbook Ae1811 and it keeps saying there is no camera connected

I bought a macbook ae1811 and i've had it for two days. When I go to open photobooth or try to use any app that requires the camera it says there is no camera connected. I have restarted it, I updated it to Yosemite I even opened Terminal and copy pasted "sudo killall VDCAssistant" as many have requested and still it says there is no camera connected. What do I do?

i ended up reseting the smc yesterday and nothing happened. at all. i think this is a common problem i guess but the solution that others use with copy pasting ""sudo killall VDCAssistant" into terminal didn't work for me. and im not sure why.

  • IChat AV 3 in OS 10.6.2 - There Is No Camera Connected ...

iMac8,1 has been chatting with built in camera for months. Today the camera icon was replaced with the audio chat icon in iChat. Clicking the icon gave the message "There is No Camera Connected ..." (I cannot remember the rest of the message) Built-in cam worked with all other applications.
    Rebooted
    Zapped my PRAM
    Reset the SMC
All to no avail. The workaround I used to get the cam recognized was to power down the system without iChat auto-launching on login. When the system re-logged confirmed again that iChat was not running. Then I launched Photo Booth. After Photo Booth registered my cam I launched iChat, which immediately recognized my cam.
    Fixed for tonight.

Also try the BAndwidth at 200kbps at both ends.
If this smooths things out Open the Connection Doctor (Video menu) as this shows the Bit rate changes as you increase the Setting.
Change one end to 500 kbps and wait 'til the Connection Doctor has settled before trying to adjust the other end.

  • What I.Link wire is used to connect my Sony Handy Cam to my iMac Mountain Lion?

What I.Link wire is used to connect my Sony Handy Cam to my iMac Mountain Lion?

    Hi,
If I remember correctly it is some while since Sony used iLink (Firewire) which would mean it is Firewire 400.
This would be the smaller 6 pin at the camera end and a 400 9 pin one at the "computer" end.
However we would now be looking at needing a 400 to 800 adaptor/link cable for newer computers.

  • There is no camera connected after i upgraded the software from apple

There is no camera connected when i open facetime and photo booth...I've tried to reset the PRAM using cmd+alt+P+R, but the problem still remains...

If you went from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2 and haven't picked this one up yet, there is also a supplemental update which might fix it: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1600

  • Problems with connection to the Mountain Lion

Someone is having problems with connection on Mac Mountain Lion? I did a clean install and the connection is unstable.

Have you tried to reset your network settings ?
What I would do is delete the connection, and then retry the set up of that connection.
System Preferences>Network, select Wi-Fi on the left and then click on the 'minus' button

Is there a way of using IE7 with Mountain Lion? There used to be this facility using Safari "Develop" with Lion, but this doesn't seem to work with ML

Thank you for this, and to Caleb.
I've tried using Caleb's approach (which is the same as I used with Lion), but the programme doesn't respond now that I have installed Mountain Lion.
My problem is that I do not want to use IE7 but that a programme I need regular access to will only allow IE7 and I've been told by the developers that it is too expensive to upgrade this programme to allow it to be used by other browsers.
So, my puzzle remains the same. I could access IE7 and use the programme using Caleb's solution with Lion. I can't do the same with Mountain Lion. I do (I think!) understand your point about the programme requiring IE7 specifically, but if it worked on Lion, why isn't it working on Mountain Lion? Or was I just lucky before?
I'll try mende1's approach, though I doubt I'm technical enough to virtualise anything!
Thanks again. Any further thoughts welcome.

  • Why does photo booth say that there is no camera connected?

When i open photobooth or Facetime, or any other programe to use my inbuilt camera it comes up with "no camera connected".
One day it was working, i had no accidents that i recall that would have caused this to happen and there are no other issues just this!

  • Hi! I have been experiencing trouble my mac computer, it spits out CD/DVD's and there is no camera connection

Hi! I have been experiencing trouble my mac computer, it spits out CD/DVD's and there is no camera connection

My mid-2007 iMac's internal optical drive went on the fritz a few weeks ago. Symptoms were a little different (it recognized every disk, CD or DVD, as blank whether they were blank or not). Reason and solution are the same: It's a hardware problem and your choices are to get the internal replaced or repaired, or get an external FireWire or USB drive.
If you're still covered by AppleCare, your internal drive will be repaired/replaced for you at no cost. Just bring it in to your nearest Apple Store after calling for a repair appointment.
If you're not still covered by AppleCare, an internal replacement is more expensive than it's worth. I got a very inexpensive USB CD/DVD reader - less than $20, since I don't need the ability to burn very often and when I do there are plenty of other Macs around here to do the burning. If you feel confident in your ability to muck about with the cramped insides of your Mini, a replacement internal can be had for under $100.

  • Can No Longer Get Camera Photos After Installing Mountain Lion

After installing Mountain Lion, I am no longer am able to see pictures from my digital camera thru the USB port.  This camera has worked for years with my iMac, but not anymore.  Anybody else having this issue after installing the newest system?
    Dick

    Paul_31:
I have not tried to import the photos directly into iPhoto.  However, I did remove the SD card from the camera and plug it into a USB card reader, and my iMac would NOT read the photos that way either.  I took the camera and plugged it into my Win. 7 laptop and the pictures showed up nicely, so I know the camera and the card are Ok.  My iMac has been working strangely since I installed Mountain Lion.  I'm getting lockups using iMovie too.

  • Server App can't connect to a Mountain Lion server

    Hi,
I installed OS X Mountain Lion Server (2.2.1) on a 2012 Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.4. I am able to access all the options using the Server.app on the Mini. Then I installed the Server.app (2.2.1) on a 2010 MacBook Pro running 10.8.4. On trying to configure the Server options on the Mac Mini from the MacBook Pro by providing the correct Mac Mini admin credentials, the password is not validated correctly. This happens when both the systems are on the same network or on different networks.
I am certain that the username / password provided is correct, since using the same credentials I can successfully remote into the Mac Mini using Apple Remote Desktop (3.6.1) when both the systems are on the same network or on different networks.
My situation supersedes the resolution provided in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3960?locale=en_US. Note that the command sudo launchctl list | grep -q com.apple.servermgrd && echo loaded || echo not loaded returns loaded on the Mac Mini.
    Please help!

I am having exactly the same setup and exactly the same problem - nevertheless I would like to add some more information in order to hopefully find / get help from other readers in here.
I am using DynDNS - not a dedicated domain. I do not utilize an AirPort Extreme for port forwarding and else. All the necessary port forwardings were triple checked!
    - First of all "Apple Remote Desktop" is able to connect to my server over the internet (screen sharing) and locally in my LAN. No troubles here.
    - My iOS devices can connect using various VNC clients without any troubles.
    - VNC connections started within Safari (MacBook Pro) do work very well, too.
    - All kinds of WebDAV connections are working like a charme.
    - When connecting with "Server.app" from my MacBook Pro it asks if I would like to trust the self-signed certificate before I can enter name and password. After trusting that certificate it doesn't matter which account information I am entering: none is accepted. It does not make any difference if I am using a local user account or a user network account (both configured as being allowed to administer that server). "Server.app" does not accept any information provided.
I've been following the KB advice, too that c xavier mentioned. "servermgrd" is loaded!
For some odd yet unknown reason neither WAN nor LAN FTP login does work, too. It just gives me a time out, as already mentioned WebDAV is working fine.
Sorry I could not help You, c xavier! I just thought that some additional information could help...

  • There was a problem connecting to the server lion

    Hi.
Just upgraded my macbook pro to LionThere was a problem connecting to the server lion 10.7.1 and suddenly I have this message keep on popping on my screen that say's :  " THERE WAS A PROBLEM CONNECTING TO THE SERVER. URLs with the "type:" are not supported. "
Can you assist me, how can I get rid or fix this problem?
    Thank You.

I found an answer.  It's a problem with time machine.  If you disable it it should stop.  I am manually turning it on when I connect since I don't stay connected to that hd all the time.  I haven't had the message since.

  • Is there any way I can still get Mountain lion 10.8?

I never knew that that Macbook Pros could have iMessage until now. Am I a little to late to get OS Mountain lion 10.8 since OS X Mavericks is out. So is there anyway I can get OS Mountain Lion. Also without OS Mountain Lion 10.8 you can not get OS X Mavericks.

False. You can upgrade to Mavericks from OS X 10.6.8 ( Snow Leopard ) if your Mac supports it.

  • Why is there no Passwords tab in my Safari Mountain Lion Preferences?

I need to remove a stored password from my laptop, but there is no Passwords tab in my Safari Mountain Lion Preferences window. How can I get past this roadblock?

Do you have some other software installed, like a password manager, that is removing the Passwords tab?
Take a look in Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access. Your password may be stored in there. Look in the Login Keychain, Category: Passwords. You can just select the password and delete it.
You could reinstall Safari perhaps to restore the Passwords tab. I don't think you can just download Safari by itself, though. You'd have to reinstall Mountain Lion. Alternatively there's an app called Pacifist that will let you extract the Safari installer package from the ML installer. CharlesSoft — software you always wished someone would write
