There's no left arrow at top to return to preceeding page.

After downloading the latest version of Firefox, there now is no left arrow at the top left of the page to return to the preceding page of any web site I go to. Before, there was a left and right arrow at the upper left of the page of a website that could be used for going back to preceding pages of a site without leaving that site. Now I have to either leave the site by closing it out, then go back into it from the start, or look under "history" and click on the next to last site that is shown to get to previous page. (When using Internet Explorer, the left and right arrows are at the upper left of the web sites). Please help with Firefox.

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
* If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
* If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

You might try creating a bookmark backup and restoring that as opposed to renaming/deleting the places.sqlite file that was be a last resort where you lose all of your browser history.

  • You used to be able to scroll through the history of one tab by using an arrow on the left of the screen to see all the pages you visited on that tab and now it's missing. You can't select one page that was maybe 12 clicks back now.

If I'm on one site and click through several links on the page, I want to be able to look at the history of my clicks and return to an earlier click - like the second or third one instead of hitting the arrow button 12 times. You used to be able to get a drop-down history of all the clicks on one tab - it's now gone and it's really annoying.

There is a left arrow ("back button"). Click and hold down and after a second, you'll have a history list for the tab. You can then select the page you want from there.

  • Remove Cmd-Left Arrow mapping on OSX

On OSX, the default mapping for "place cursor on beginning of line" (home) and "place cursor at end of line" (end) is Cmd-Left Arrow and Cmd-Right Arrow. However, when editing in a form within Firefox, pressing Cmd-Left Arrow will make Firefox load the previous page, which makes you loose all your hard editing work.
This is very frustrating and counter productive in my daily work. Apart from some outdated Add-ons and old forum posts from 2004 I could not find a solution for the current version of Firefox (24.0). I've searched online, and also the add-on store in Firefox, and the Firefox help files.
Can somebody *please* add a keyboard shortcut configuration menu to the Firefox preferences pane, or at least disable these two key bindings from the OSX version of Firefox?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rolf

    Hello Rolf,
I am sorry that you are so frustrated with this shortcut. The best place to ask for a change to this would be on [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ Bugzilla] (the developers don't usually check this forum).
I have set up [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?format=guided#h=dupes|Firefox| a form for you]. Please click the link and enter in the information when prompted.

  • What are the boxes that appear when I scroll over them at the top and bottom of a Pages document, and how do I get rid of them?

While types a blank document on pages, there are "invisible" boxes at the top and bottom of each page, and they only appear when I scroll over them. Does anyone know what these boxes are, and how i can get rid of them from my paper?

Those are the Header and Footer spaces. You remove them using the Document Inspector. Uncheck the "Headers" and "Footers" checkboxes shown checked here:

  • Cannot access my email folders on iPad mini - the arrow in top left hand corner is not available anymore

arrow in top left hand corner is not available anymore. Can anyone help?

You should be able to contact Verizon with the account login information, unless you can get the SIM Card back from whoever you gave it to.  The SIM Card tray is on the top left edge of the device.  There is a SIM Card Tray pin that is advisable to use to get the tray to release.  Once it is out, you can swap it.  If you don't have access to your previous iPad, then you should contact Verizon as the data plan may still be active on the previous device.  This is the first iPad I have had with cellular data option included, but that is the way I understand the situation based on having to exchange my new ipad at the Apple Store.  The Genuis swapped the SIM Cards and my data plan was instantly (after a restart) active on the new one.

  • How can I return to previous page? There used to be an arrow in upper left side of screen that would allow this, but it has disappeared.

I have the latest version of Firefox, 5.0 installed today, but no arrow in upper left part of screen that previously would let me return to previous page.

can I somehow edit the location of where I can find all the sheets (right now they are on top of the page, and you can't see all of them listed at quick glance but must scroll/arrow through them)
On my machine I just hit shift-command-j (the keyboard shortcut I assigned in System Preferences) and a list of the sheets in the current document pops up:
I type a number from the list and jump immediately to that sheet. The hands never have to leave the keyboard.
(This particular document had a sheet named for each month.  But the sheets in your document automatically will be listed instead.)
This is done via a Jump to Sheet Automator Service (Dropbox download).  To install just doubleclick the .workflow package and (if needed) click 'Download Anyway' in System Preferences > Privacy & Security.
Installation will cause a new item to appear in your Numbers > Services menu.  Then, if you want a keyboard shortcut, go here in System Preferences and add one:
You can rename or remove the service by holding down the option key in Finder and choosing Go > Library > Services. You can also view the AppleScript contaned within the service by opening the .workflow package in Automator.
Note, also, that in Numbers 3 you don't have to use those left-right arrows upper right to slowly scroll left-right to the sheets that are out of view.  Just move your cursor up to the "band" with the "tabs" and drag left or right.  That's much faster than using the arrows.

  • MS Word docs with Right Facing Arrows print as Left Facing on top of next word

    Printer:  M830 Multifunction printer/copier.
    Computer OS:  Win7
Driver:   Both the PCL & PS versions of HP Universal Printing v5.9.0
                               -- HP Universal Printing PCL 6 (v5.9.0)
-- HP Universal Printing PS (v5.9.0)
We have MS Word documents in which we have Right Facing Arrows.  In MS Word they are created by type DASH + DASH + GREATER_THAN (e.g. "- - >" without the spaces.  We use then to instruct users on menu options (e.g., FILE-->OPEN).
When printed they become Left Facing Arrows printed on top of the first letter of the next word -- The letter "O" in the above example would have the Left Arrow printed on top of it.
Don't know whether it's the drivers or the Raster.
    Thanks!

Thank you for the information. The fact that this is a newer computer is a little concerning. I believe upgrading to Windows 8.1 is a could test. If the same issues occur on Windows 8.1, this proves that the hardware isn't functioning the way it should. If this issue is removed when installing Windows 8.1, this proves that something was wrong with the current operating system. I would definitely give this a shot. Windows 8.1 isn't a lot different than Windows 8. The main difference is that Windows 8.1 has a different Start menu then what appears on Windows 7 and older. That's the main difference. I can understand it would be a little uncomfortable, coming from Windows XP. Anyway, please try updating to Windows 8.1 and let me know how it goes. If I find some extra information on this, I will let you know. Have a great day! Mario

  • Double left pointing arrow on top right corner of display!!

Does anyone know what a rewind sign (double arrow pointing left) on the top left corner of the iPod screen means? My iPod has started showing this for a few days now, even when songs are playing or paused.

Mine started doing exactly the same thing a couple of days ago. I reset it this morning. I hope it doesn't come back. The other thing I noticed was that while this icon was displayed, I could not skip forward or back during songs. Its just one of a few minor glitches I have noticed on my lovely new iPod 60gb

  • TS1381 My left arrow does not work on my macbook pro(model A1226).  I have reset nvram, performed a safe boot, pulled the cache to desktop, replaced .globalpreference.plist, test all other keys with keyboard view (all others work)  - HELP!!

My left arrow does not work on my macbook pro(model A1226).
I have reset nvram, performed a safe boot, pulled the cache to desktop, replaced .globalpreference.plist, & tested all other keys with "keyboard viewer" (all other keys work except for the arrow).
In addition, I have gone thru all the recommended checks with universal access and have booted from snow leopard dvd and the left arrow still does not work.
I have tried using the left arrow key in all of applications I use such as: excel, ms word, address book, calendar, iphoto, terminal, & highlighting an icon and using the arrows to move to another selected icon.
Here is the kicker!  In addition, I purchased a logitech solar bluetooth keyboard and the arrows work fine with my ipad but do not work when paired with the macbook pro. All other keys work fine on the macbook pro using the bluetooth keyboard.
I believe this says that the problem is not in my macbook pro keyboard. So where can it be?
Can anyone think of any other rabbit holes I can search?
    thanks and regards

I would also like to add that I've reverted the two cd drive and hard drive mods I did and the laptop is back to factory hardware and there is 0 corrosion or mold visible.

  • Left Arrow "Goto Previous Frame" Not Working in Projects

When trying to navigate around the timeline in a project, I can press the "Right Arrow" key on the keyboard to navigate to the next frame in the timeline from the playhead.  When I try and press the "Left Arrow" key to navigate to the previous frame, the project is de-selected and the selection jumps up to Macintosh HD above the project (or if editing a project on another drive, it jumps up and selects that Drive).  Pressing the left arrow key again collapses that Drive and all the projects on it are hidden.
I can skip 10 frames in either direction just fine by pressing Shift-Left or Shift-Right, but for some reason cannot skip backward frame by frame without the project being de-selected.
If I choose a clip in the Event Library, I am able to navigate frame by frame either direction just fine with the Arrow keys - it only seems to be a problem in an actual project.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

When trying to navigate around the timeline in a project,
Is this really in the timeline, or in the Project Library? It sounds like you're in the Project Library. In there, yes that's the way the arrow keys work. They're used to navigate through projects and folders. Event Library works the same way.
After the drive collapses with the left arrow, you can use the right arrow to open it. If you want to slow play through the project hold K and L. If you want frame by frame inspection, hold the K key and tap the L key. Or open the project into the timeline panel.

  • Double click on the left arrow on the tab bar creates a New Tab at the right hand end.

With Firefox 29.0.1 double clicking on either the left or right hand arrows in the tab bar creates a new tab at the right hand end of the tab bar. This is annoying behaviour that violates standards around UI design single click and double click. A double click should extend the behaviour of the single click rather than doing something completely different (opening a new tab). An example would be , in Word a single click selects a word, a double click selects the sentence and a triple click selects the paragraph. Note that this is a separate issue from double clicking on the tab bar itself to create a new tab.
When there are more tabs on the tab bar than will fit in the viewport the tabs scroll sideways so show the tab in use. I can click the left and right arrows at the ends of the tab bar to scroll the bar in that direction to bring a tab that I want to select into view. I believe that double clicking the left arrow would scroll the bar fully right, exposing the left-most tab. Double clicking the right arrow would scroll the bar fully left exposing the right-most tab.
This is a logical and expected extension of the behaviour of the single click. Single click - scroll once (seems to be about three tab's worth), double click - scroll all the way.
At the moment, if I want to scroll to the left-most tab I have to click the arrow slowly and carefully until I reach it. I used to single click rapidly on the left arrow until the tabs stopped scrolling without having to count how many clicks. It's possible that my rapid single clicks were actually double clicks. Nevertheless, the tab bar would stop scrolling when it reached the end.
Now the behaviour is really annoying and unexpected. A double click on the left arrow scrolls the tabs fully right and then fully left and creates a New Tab at the right hand end. Ditto the right hand arrow in the opposite direction.
While I can (maybe) see that value of a double click on the tab bar itself creating a new tab, double clicking one of the scroll arrows should not produce a new tab.
Double clicks on the tab arrows should scroll the tab bar fully to that end. If the tab bar is already fully scrolled to that end then additional clicks (single, double and triple...) should be ignored.
I like the idea of opening a new tab to the right of the one that currently has focus. This should be a right click context menu option.

That shouldn't happen if you click the scroll buttons on the tab bar.
A double-click should act as page up/down and move a full screen and a triple-click should move to the far left (first tab) or the far right (last) tab.

while playing podcasts, curved arrows at top of page that turn blue when tapped, but nothing else happens.what is their function, how to use them?

These are your shuffle controls. They won't do anything on a single podcast - they are designed for shuffling tracks on an album. If the one on the left is blue the tracks play in order; if the other one they are shuffled.

  • When I command-left arrow to nav to the line/start in large fields, I'm taken to the previous page, loosing hours of work

I use Firefox/mac 3.0.19 to edit my CubeCart based web site. When adding/editing pages, I can be hours into a single page, type command-left arrow in a text field to navigate to the start of the line I am on, and am taken to the previous page. Navigating forward again, leaves me with the page as it was when I began, with no way to recover the sometimes hours of work I've put into the page. If there is no way to teach FF to ignore these keys while in text fields, I would like a way to turn it off command-left arrow all together.
