"There was a problem installing Photoshop CC (2014)" error for a year

I've been trying to install Photoshop for over a year (haven't really needed it yet, and now I do), and get the same error every time.
It gets through about 45% of the download (always the same percentage, roughly), and then gives up and says "Installation failed--learn more."
When I click on the learn more link, I get a web page saying exactly:
<<
Exit Code: 34
Please see specific errors below for troubleshooting. For example, ERROR:
-------------------------------------- Summary --------------------------------------
- 1 fatal error(s), 0 error(s)
FATAL: Payload 'Camera Profiles Installer_8.3_AdobeCameraRawProfile8.0All 8.0.0.15 {3E2A282C-3E78-44F4-AB5F-021300B2CEE0}' information not found in Media_db.
>>
It's always this same error.
I've had this error since the pre-release, and I suspect it has to do with being part of the pre-release program. (We're an Adobe plug-in developer, a Silver Partner--been developing plugins since before InDesign 1.0 shipped.)
Yes, I've uninstalled the Creative Cloud and re-installed a couple of times, from scratch. I've also tried the Cleaner, which hasn't helped.
I'm now officially stumped.
Can someone from Adobe help fix this?

I do not work for Adobe... you need to contact Adobe... try the chat link I posted

Thank you for the tip. The link you sent me with the optical drive is for my model? Did you installed? We could install the driver as well? If you could ever give me the link to the demonstration of the installation DVD drive was great.

  • Crucial M4 SSD MBP "There was a problem installing Mac OS X" Try Reinstalling

So I have an extra ssd. I decide to put it in my MPB mid or late 2009 to give it some extra life.
I am doing a fresh install from a thumb drive. The macbook find the partition and boots into the installer. about 10 seconds into progress bar this appears: "There was a problem installing mac os x" Try reinstalling.
    The progress bar goes away.
The thumb drive is good... it installed on my mother's laptop just fine.
I have the ssd in the place of the old Hdd until my adapter comes around to put one of them in the opti bay.
Does anyone have any ideas or has seen this before?

I forgot to mention a fresh mountain lion install. The M4 has latest firmware as of today.

  • Installed Photoshop cc 2014 asks for serial # - corrupted Windows file permissions

More of a warning / heads up to all than a question - installing Photoshop cc 2014 [via the CC manager app] caused some Windows file (security) permissions to become corrupt corrupt on my system. Symptoms include cc2014 asking for serial number validation on startup (when, as a cloud version, it should not do so), then being unable to connect to the internet when you press the 'validate serial' button so getting that window into infinite loops, and - a real pain in the *** when trying to fix the above - causing abends of some windows shell functions that in turn cause windows explorer to crash and restart.
Anyhow, digging into this (fortunately, I am a long time Windows SysProg) I discovered that for reasons unknown, either the CC master app or the actual Photoshop cc2014 installer (or both) are changing file access control permissions on a number of files, mostly DLL's. Most of the files affected are in the (normally hidden) Program Data directory on the windows root disk, Some of them are in the Adobe subdirectory - so fair enough if they want to fool around with their own program - but others being changed are in the Common Files and Microsoft subdirectories. I cannot for the life of me figure out why this is necessary nor why Adobe feel the need to touch files that 'do not belong' to them - something dangerous in the extreme as an external app such as Windows Update might replace or 'repair' the files so touched, and if Adobe / CC are relying on file permissions on non-Adobe files, such changes could result in all manner of random and spurious problems / error messages occurring.
Anyhow, if, fellow Photoshop cc 2014 user, you get this happen to you then you can fix the file permissions by opening a console window [also called a "DOS box", or "command prompt" depending on your age and knowledge... 8-) ] and run the windows file checker with the command
"sfc /scannow". Make sure that you use 'run as administrator' to open the console window, or you'll get an error about sfc only being available to administrators. Also a very (very) sensible idea to close all non-essential running applications first to prevent any possibility of weird interactions happening.
Finally, check that the 'hosts' file in [root drive]:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc is valid - for some reason, it looks like the install tried to check or update this file (again, I have no idea why) but the result was a corrupted hosts file, which I assume is the root cause of the 'unable to connect to host' type internet error messages. Copy the file, rename it as 'hosts.txt' and edit it with notepad or wordpad. Look for lines containing garbage strings at the bottom of the file  (any line that starts with a # ignore, it is a comment, and any line that has IP addresses or host names should be ignored - though if they reference a site such as "someserver.adobe.com" you might want to treat them with suspicion if you continue to get internet 'cant connect to site' type errors.
Anyhow, when I fixed these two sets of problems, Photoshop cc 2014 started 'right first time' without all the BS messages about serial numbers etc.
Hope this helps somebody out there in AdobeLand......
    Rick

Update: I tried several times to reproduce the error, actually it dosen't occur. I changed nothing on my system, without reboot it twice. This is what I said in my beginning times: it occurs sometimes but often. I will keep you up to date.

  • There was a problem connecting to the server error

    HELP!
Right, so I upgraded to Lion on my MacBook Pro last night, and have spasmodically gotten the following error:
There was a problem connecting to the server "me409fs02"
    followed by:
There was a problem connecting to server "me35syd08"
Now the weird thing is, me409fs02 and me35syd08 were servers at a company I used to work for 2 years ago. I have no idea why my computer is suddenly trying to log in to these old servers, or how to make it stop.
Here's a screen shot of what's going on in the console at the exact moment that the errors occur:
This is turning out to be a gargantuan pain in the butt and I'd really appreciate any help I can get.
    Thanks in advance,
    Brent.

    G'day mate,
Is this only happening in one user account?  If so, then you should look into the library folder of your user account and your login items (through "Users & Groups Preferences").
Check for any LaunchAgents or LaunchDaemons that could be attempting to connect to the server.
If it's happening for every user, then also check the Library folder at the root of your hard drive (LaunchAgents, LaunchDaemons and StartupItems).
    Cheers,
    Rodney

  • I am trying to install an update for PS which is part of my Photography package.- each time I try to run it I get notification that "There was a problem updating Photoshop CC.  I have just updated Creative Cloud

Can anyone help, I work on a 64 bit HP laptop

I've successfully used Adobe Technical Support Chat several times to solve problems like this.
Go to   http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html   and follow the prompts, until you get the CHAT option. You will be talking online with a very smart and polite person from India, who has everything needed to solve your issue. I recommend you relax and go with the flow of this chat: it may take over an hour to solve your issue, but believe me, they DO actually have what it takes.
    Good luck.

  • Despite English selected, I get "There was a problem installing Lightroom..." while installing 5.3

    Found the announcement and KB-article [1] + other posts on the topic, but my problem is slithgly off;
I see in the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 5.3 12-30-2013.log that the MSI issue happens:
Install MSI payload failed with error: 1624 - Error applying transforms.
Third party payload installer Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi failed with exit code: 1624
My Adobe Creative Cloud app has "English (International)" set as the app language, though.
Any hope for me to complete the upgrade?

Got excellent help from Dilip on Adobe chat!
    Trick was roughtly;
Sign out of and close CC
Empty temp folder (run -> %temp%)
    Sign back in to CC
Restart LR-install, it will fail again. Don't touch
In temp-folder, search for sub-folder called Lightroom_5_CCM_LS1_win6, with the file Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi in it.
Execute install from mentioned file - that works (should work, and did for me) OK
    Sign out and close CC
Sign back in -> now Lightroom 5.3 is listed as installed and up to date!
    Thanks a lot, Dilip!

  • There was a problem installing "Mac OS X" - Try reinstalling

    Hi there,
so, i downloaded Lion and made a copy of the Install pkg to install it on multiple devices.
It worked without any problems on a new Macbook Air, an old aswell as a very old Mac Mini.
However on a 15" MBP i7 with 500GB SSD it completely messed up.
it gave the above error message
    Only option was to reboot.
The system hung for 30 mins after which I shut it down.
I then proceeded to make a "clean install" Disk and Stick to reboot.
After booting I went into Diskutility and erased the Harddisk.
Funnily enough after another reboot the same error message came up.
    Don'T know what to do.
currently restoring from the time capsule...

I forgot to mention a fresh mountain lion install. The M4 has latest firmware as of today.

  • My Apple TV is reading " There was a problem connecting to the network" error - 3906

I have reset all network components and the Apple TV.  I first set up Apple TV and it worked beautifully.  The next time I turned it on it gave me the error message.  I have tried reconnecting to the netwrk multiple times.  I have my laptop and my ipad connected to the network, but the Apple TV will no longer connect.  I am out of solutions.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

I had the same problem. I just solutioned it just by disabling MAC Address filtering in my LinkSys router. This is strange as I did enter the address of my ATV3 in the list of allowed devices in the router configuration software.
The truth is that it now works! I just seems that ATV is not compatible with MAC Address filtering.

  • NAS death causing "There was a problem connecting to the server" error...

    Hi All,
My entire music collection was lost recently, when my Western Digital "MyBook" network drive exploded in a way that gave me no chance of data recovery.
Now, every time I open iTunes, I am shown all the tracks, but upon accessing (or trying to), I see the following message: -
I now have a http://bit.ly/qnap_ts-439-pro-ii running RAID 6, so future data is better protected against drive failure and I'm only using it as backup, as opposed to the actual iTunes store).
What I am trying to figure out, is how I can bin all the tracks which were on the MyBook, while keeping any tracks which I've imported since thje failure.
Please can you guys advise me?
    Cheers,
    ChrisP

OK, so here is what I just did.
I scrolled to the top of my iTunes library, selected the first track, then pressed-and-held the down arrow til \i eventually reached the bottom.  This identified every song as either available, or unavailable (the exclaimation mark within a circle).
Then I sorted the tracks by that field, scrolled to the top of the duds and selected the top track, then scroller to the bbottom track of the duds and while pressing [Shift] I selected the last dud track in the list.  Now, wwith all the duds selected, I right-clicked them and chose delete.
Now that I only have available tracks in my library, I get much less confused and annoyed and as a happy consequence, my iPhone now syncs my music properly ;D
This may not be the most elegant solution, but I'm delighted with it.
