Thermocouples with USB-6210 DAQ, readings show big variations from true temp.

I have several type T and type K thermocouples connected to a USB-6210 DAQ. In VI logger, I have set up a thermocouple task, selecting CJC source as constant. Is it correct that software takes care of the CJC, as the connection diagram shows just the thermocouple connected directly into the device? With the CJC value of 18 (room temp), the values start off OK, but over ten minutes they drift to about 40 degrees, and seem to increase and decrease randomly. Do I need additional hardware, and/or what is going wrong? Thank you.

You are correct that the software will account for the CJC value which you set as constant when computing the returned temperature value from the voltage reading. One thing I would suggest trying would be to see if touching the thermocouple or otherwise providing a path to ground for the thermocouple makes the signal return back to a value within the valid range. When measuring a floating source such as a thermocouple in differential mode, it is necessary to provide a path from the instrumentation amplifier inputs to the instrumentation amplifier ground, which can be accomplished through the use of bias resistors being placed between the inputs and AIGND. For more information on bias resistors and properly connecting signals, please refer to the Field Wiring and Noise Considerations for Analog Signals tutorial. There is also more information about the problem you are seeing in "Appendix B: Troubleshooting" of the NI USB-621x User Manual (page B-1). On this page, you will see a topic titled "I am using my device in differential analog input ground-reference mode and I have connected a differential input signal, but my readings are random and drift rapidly. Mountain Lion 10.8.2 not showing big folders from External HDD, please help ?

Hello guys,
The problem appeared after I did a clean install of Mountain Lion 10.8.2. The OS works nicely except it does not show my big Movie (around 200 GB) folder from my External HDD. This Movie folder is not related to any Apple software such as iTunes etc.. What's funny is that my LG TV shows the folder, and I can access it to open any movie. But when I mount the HDD to my MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion now, all folders are shown except this one. The HDD is NTFS and had no problems with Snow Leopard (my previous OS).
I tried defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE and I see hidden folders in External HDD, but the Movie folder is still not shown.
Is this issue related to the size of this folder ? any help & ideas are greatly appreciated, thanks!

I see its been 2 months since the last post. Did someone find the solution? I have the same problem with 10.8.2 update. Macbook pro mid 2010 with Crucial 256 m4 ssd (latest firmware 010G). Since yesterday my mac refuses to start.
What I did so far:
1. Impossible to start os x 10.8.2, stuck at spinning circle below the apple logo at startup. Disk check ok, permissions ok. Startup in "safe mode" stucks on spinning wheel as well.
2. Impossible to format the drive for a new clean install. What I find strange is that I cannot format the ssd with any utility. So far I tried with windows, linux and with disk utility on os x. I put the ssd in a usb casing and I am able to read it as an external drive, can copy some smaller files from it but cannot change anything on it (no permissions).
3. Did a clean install on original hd of my mac. Data transfer (1 user) from time machine or the ssd goes through 85-95% then stops. And now impossible to format the original drive with the 10.8.2 installed to downgrade to 10.7.
4. Pram reset
Does anyone have any idea what to do now?

Using timer/counter with PCI-6221/USB-6210 to control timed-loop VI

Dear all,
I need to ask about two devices and one of their functionalities, PCI-6221 and USB-6210. For our NI-based system, we need to control some timings in a Timed-Loop vi, for that currently we are using PCI-6221 and we give external TTL signal (at 1 kHz) to it,
recenntly we need to make some changes and for that we found USB 6210 DAQ to be more suitable, but we need to clear ourselves on some specific things.
Can the counter/timers functions available in the either PCI 6221 or USB 6210 can be used to control the Timed-loop VI by giving external clock or by using their own internal clock source?
Although we are using external clock with the PCI 6221 but we want to know about the usage of their internal clock, also are controlling timed-loop also possible for USB-6210
Also... What if we use the RTOS, are they still able to control the timed-loop VI without giving any 'EXTERNAL CLOCK' and using the internal clock sources of the DAQs

I having read previous email which I send earlier with general overview, we discussed in more detail within our team and I am giviing the specific answers.
Please check in RED the most recent answers. Blue are the questions/suggestions by your side.
1.    Using Internal hardware clock of PCI-6221 would enable us get rid of external clock, but how to divert the internal hardware clock to the current settings. Any idea (can you provide us with some reference manul for otherwise). I mean is there some flag-bit etc. or VI
2.       Is it also meant that with the installation of RTOS the timed-loop can directly get the timing source from the internal hardware clock PCI-6221? --- How???
3.       In order to make desktop to work as RT system, what is the hardware (motherboard, processor, etc..) requirement? What are the LabVIEW modules (specific name) that needed to be installed? Our platform is LabVIEW 8.6. (Currently we have windows-7 with i7 core processor)
What kind of application are you intending for this system? ---- high-speed laser scanning system.
Are you most concerned about accuracy, speed, or responsiveness? To control the laser mirror scanner to move at 1 kHz or 2 kHz speed. On the other hands, using PCI-5105 (128 MB memory) as a DAQ for real-time/on-the-fly data processing.

Acquistion avec un thermocouple type K et NI USB 6210

Dans le cadre de mon stage, je suis amené à utiliser une carte d'acquisition NI USB 6210.
Avec ce matériel, je dois acquérir des températures avec des thermocouples de type K.
J'utilise la tache température comme indiqué dans MAX. Cependant, la valeur varie relativement fortement (+ ou - 5°C) et au bout de quelques minutes dérive complètement vers des valeurs incohérentes (par exemple valeur négative).
J'ai donc plusieurs questions :
La carte NI USB 6210 convient t-elle pour une mesure de température avec un thermocouple?
Pourquoi mon signal dérive de la sorte?
Y a-t-il une autre méthode d'acquisition pour ce type de mesure (thermocouple)

La carte USB 6210 n'ai pas faite pour faire des mesures sur thermocouples, mais vu la sensibilité et la précision de la carte, vous pouvez quand même le faire.
Par contre attention cette carte ne calcul pas automatiquement la température de soudure froide, donc la valeur de votre thermocouple sera une différence de température uniquement (entre la sonde de votre thermocouple et le raccordement de votre thermocouple).
Pour améliorer la précision, j'ai modifié quelques trucs dans votre vi, vous le trouverez ci-joint :

Problem with nokia E5 modem connected with usb cab...

hi .. I have E5 and i use it for internet on my pc with usb cable. I have data plan from my operator. The problem comes now, whenever i connect my mobile to my pc with usb cable,it shows connected in pc suit mode, but whenever i try to establish a net connection through one touch access, it says that "the device connected is not found". Same occurs when i try from ovi suit. Its irritating... I checked everything, Reinstalled pc suit and ovi suit, system restore,blah blah... Ohh god... Some one help me out... Same occurs with nokia 6303 classic.
I used it before,the connections were easy to deal,but now its not happening at all...!!

How to transfer contacts from LGENV2 (maybe with USB)?

We recently purchased smart phones for our daughters. They were very quick to get their phones out of the boxes and activate their phones. Well, they hadn't backed up their contacts (or anything on their phones) before activating their new phones. We now can't find a way to use Backup Assistant from the old phones (all are LGENV2s). We do have the USB cable to connect the phones to our PC. We'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

You can actually use Bluetooth to transfer contacts! Just make sure they are paired together.

There are a couple of options for you to get your SCXI system up and running. You will need either a M-Series or an E-Series card to connect to your SCXI system or you could look into the NI SCXI-1600 which is a controller for your SCXI chassis and would allow you to connect your laptop to the controller through a USB cable. This controller is going to operate similar to the E-Series Cards and the M-Series Cards.
We also offer a couple of PCMCIA cards that would allow you to integrate the SCXI system with your laptop. These are the NI DAQCard-6036E and the NI DAQCard-6062E. Unfortunately, your NI USB-6210 is unable to be used as the Data Acquisition device for your SCXI chassis. The list of DAQ cards that are possible for use with your system can be found here under the "Controller" tab.

How do I run a J-type thermocouple to the usb-6363 DAQ and program labview to measure temperature?

I have a usb-6363 DAQ and a J-type non-contact thermocouple that I am looking to connect and measure temperature through. However, the DAQ does not have any T/C inputs, which is needed to measure in the thermocouple temperature. I am connecting the thermouple to an analog input (+/-) and I am not looking to buy an amplifier, converter or any other hardware. I believe there is a way to program labview to read in the voltages of the thermocouple and convert it into accurate temperature readings. Any help/ideas?

At first glance, the 6363 you're using should have enough resolution to acquire usable data from a thermocouple- if you attempt reading raw voltages be sure that the acquisition range is configured for +/- 0.1V, though.

USB 6009 DAQ to use in Simulink at External mode with DAQ toolbox

Currently I am using usb 6009 daq board for data acquisition in using simulink. I have created a model with taking analog input from data acquisition toolbox. Then when i want to run in external mode and try to connet to target, the following error is coming up:
Could not execute target data map file 'untitled_rtwin_win32\untitled_targ_data_map' or it does not exist. Stop the target, delete the untitled executable, rebuild the code,and try again. Note that execution of external mode requires the build directory to be present...
How can I solve this problem? For your info, I am using 32-bit matlab, version: 2012a

You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup. If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup. You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone. However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

When its in the upper right hand corner and you click on it all you get is a done button, when it's in the side bar right click and your only option is eject, left click has no effect. If I go to "file">devices it's as if there are no devices connected.

After 2 years of faithful service, playbook only works with charger or USB cable despite batter showing 100% charge. As soon as the cable/charger is unplugged, it just switches off. When cable is plugged in again, and start button pressed, it reboots. I have reinstalled sftwer from scrathc via Desktop Manager, but the problem persists. I saw this problem raised in the fora several times, but never any explanation why it happens. Any ideas?

A high resistance between battery lead and motherboard would allow trickle charge but not power discharge.
If you want to risk it, prise off the back of the playbook using an old credit card, locate the two screws holding on the battery lead, remove, clean up, then replace. replace back carefully as the antennae connectors are pressure pads.

Laser operation with a USB 6008 DAQ

I'm wondering how I go about using the USB 6008 DAQ in conjuction with labView to turn on and off ths laser:

The laser must be turned on using 3V which isn't possible with this DAQ. I was thinking of usinga BC 109 transistor, then have the laser connected to an external power supply which is supplying 3V to the laser. then have the laser connected to the collector of the transistor.
I set this up and it didn't exactly work out as the laser was drawing to high a current and not working correctly.
Can anyone help me?

OK. The problem is that you need to supply about 30 mA to the laser to get it to work. The digital outputs of the USB-9008 are limited to 8.5 mA or less. Furthermore, a laser diode is a current operated device. If you apply a fixed voltage the current will vary depending on the exact doping used when the device was manufactured and on it instantaneous temperature. The curretn rises exponentially with voltage as in any diode. The link you posted does not have any real data about the electrical characteristics of that diode.
Typically a current regulating circuit is used to drive laser diodes. The simplest circuit is a resistor in series with the diode connected to a power supply with a voltage higher than 3 V. The value of the resistor depends on the power supply voltage, the voltage drop across thes witching transistor, and how much current you want to run through the diode. If you have applied 12 V to that laser from a source which can provide substantial current (>50 mA), you have probably destroyed it.
