You simply cannot have two files with the same name in the same folder. No operating system will allow this. Remove old page1 from folder before you copy & paste the new one.

If you have your PDF open in Adobe Reader, it's easy to select the text and copy it. Just drag to select the text that you want to copy and then choose Copy from the Edit menu. If you can't select the text, it may be that your resume PDF was created from a scanned document.

How I can highlight, copy and paste using magic mouse?

I'm wondering how I can use Magic Mouse to highlight, copy and paste documents. I look at directions in manual and preferences, but could not find the answer.

Just like any mouse. Click down at the start of text you want to highlight, drag to the end of the text. To copy, either use cmd-C, or ctrl-click (hold down the ctrl key and click) or right-click, and click Copy in the popup menu. For paste, cmd-V, or use Paste in the right-click menu.

Why is there no copy and paste in place option in Adobe Captivate?

Although this is a wish list item, I do not understand why the item I am pasting always shifts 10pixels on the x & y scale??

From what I'm reading, it would seem that you are making some assumptions about Captivate. I say that because of your statement:
A simple explanation as to why this feature was removed from this Adobe product would be great!
And here's my simple explanation.
Although Adobe is now the owner of Captivate, it wasn't always so. Prior to Adobe, Macromedia owned it. Prior to Macromedia, eHelp corporation owned it and it was known as RoboDemo. And prior to eHelp corporation, Nexus Concepts owned it and it was known as FlashCam.
Adobe took the simplest route possible when they "removed" the feature. The simplest way was never to have ever added the feature in the first place!

Is there a copy and paste information from Excel with the column headings into a thread and have all the information line up under the column headings?

The short answer is No there isn't... but...
If you wrap the pasted info between code tags you can get close... For example...

5     Hobbs     Cartoon Character
But odds are you'll still need to clean it up in note pad first...

Copy and paste (aka cloning)

Here's my scenario
IDM: ABC
AD: ABC
Notes: [email protected]
This user account changed the accountId so I want to disable the ABC account and clone it and all of its resources. I need to clone IDM, AD and Notes and only change the accountId. Everything else will stay the same. The end result will have 2 accounts in IDM as below
IDM: ABC (*DISABLED*)
AD: ABC
Notes: [email protected]
IDM: 123
AD: 123
Notes: [email protected]
Is there a copy and paste kind of functionality to do this within IDM? I need to do this in a WF for ActiveSync.

Meanwhile, I suggest you check whether you have any third party anti-virus programs installed in your system, some of those software might prevent such copy\paste function, if you have, please temporarily turn off or uninstall them as a test.
Or as
raghuramu mentioned, it is a software restriction in some websites.
By the way, are you able to copy and paste between other application, such as word to word, not IE?

Copy and paste does not work

Hi All,
I have windows vista, adobe master suite collection cS3. I am having trouble using copy and paste and screen grabs in Adobe Photoshop.
Does anyone know what may be cauing this?

I copied website captures fine onto Paint and copied text and screen captures on Microsoft word fine. I am mainly trying to copy and paste website screen grabs. For example I tried copying a website screen grab straight onto Photoshop.
I am using the manual form of copy and pasting through the mouse right click. Strangely when closing and reopening Photoshop the copy and paste tool works temporarily however after a couple of copy and pasting’s the copy and paste function doesn’t work again!

I have recently switched from a PC to a MacBook Pro.
I have a large number of documents and photographs on a multiterrabite external drive, backed up on a second multiterrabite external drive.
Both external drives are formatted for MacIntosh. This has been verified by agents at an Apple store and also at Best Buy in two different cities.
This is the problem:
The MacBook Pro will not allow me to cut-and-paste to and from or to click-and-drag to the external drive. I can copy-and-paste, but then I must send the original to the trash, which doubles the time and effort. Is there any way to cut-and-paste?
Also, the MacBook Pro will not allow me to rename multiple documents or photographs. I can click-and-rename a single one, but this is impossibly time consuming. I can batch-rename in iPhoto, but when I transfer the photographs to the external drive, the rename does not transfer.
I’m reduced to using my wife’s Toshiba to cut-and-past, rename, and transfer documents. It works perfectly. Is there any way to do this on the MacBook Pro?

No, this is a philosophical difference between Apple and Microsoft. Apple believes that it's dangerous to cut a file in case the user never pastes it; in that case the file is lost. Microsoft seems to not have this problem (if I remember Windows correctly) because they don't delete the originating file if it's cut but never pasted.
Even though Macs have a lot of keyboard shortcuts, philosophically Macs have traditionally been mouse-first. This applies to file copy operations. In your case, what a Mac user would do is open the source window, open the destination window (on your second drive), and then Command-drag the selected files from the source to destination window. This is because a normal drag would leave the originals behind, while adding the Command modifier key tells OS X that this is a Move, not a Copy, so don't leave the originals behind.
(In addition there are different rules for drag-copying within the same volume or between different volumes. If you drag between two folders on the same volume, the files are moved. If you drag between different volumes, the files are copied unless you hold down Command to delete the copies on the source volume.)

Two problems in this case. First, batch file renaming is not built into OS X unless you build something with Automator. However, there are many utilities that can do batch file renaming which you can find at macupdate.com or on the App Store. Since I work with media I often batch rename using one of the media managers I have lying around like Media Pro or Adobe Bridge (comes with Photoshop).
iPhoto is a database front end designed to shield the file system from the consumer and let them concentrate on creativity and sharing. As such it is often a poor choice for managing files directly. When you "transferred the photographs" chances are you moved the originals, not the ones iPhoto edited which are stored in a hidden folder.

There will not be a way to do it exactly like Windows. As described above, there are ways to do it "the Mac way." If it is possible to remove judgment on which way is "better" you might find the Mac way to be acceptable, but of course sometimes we simply prefer what we're used to.

Can't copy and paste using mouse

Hello all.
It seems that after the installation of patch # 19 for Unix AIX the feature of copy and paste by using the middle button of the mouse doesn't work anymore.
Does anyone confirm this behavior? If so, is there any work around to solve this issue?

I think CUT, COPY, PASTE works like Forms 6i in Windows XP.
I am giving the detail If you feel that it is better then correct me otherwise reply me for more.
1. Goto Form's Object Navigator Property
2. Find Popup Menus Node
3. Doubble Click on it.
4. Menu would appear.
5. Doubble Click on it.
6. Menu Item would appear.
7. Give menu name and goto its property.
8. Goto "menu type item" on Property Platte
9. Select "Magic" from it.
10. Now, goto "magic item" on Property Platte
11. select "cut" from it.
12. Now, goto form and then goto that's item property for which you want to show the menu.
13. Goto "popup menu" on Property Platte.
14. Select defined menu.
15. Now run the form and test it.
I hope it would work in other platforms.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Is there a way to move files from one folder to another without copying and pasting and then going back to delete the original?

Thank you. I have heard of Logic Pro 7, but I have never personally used it. I'm still growing in the world of Composition, and I know that it is something I will be studying in one of my Computer Music classes coming up for my degree. I think it is something I will look into getting once I can justify the price of it. I guess for the time being, I will continue to play and grow in my ability to use and take advantage of GB, and then see what I can do about or with Logic Pro when I'm ready. The thought of spending $1000 for a program is hard to bite, because I've already spent a lot to produce my music, not only electronic music, but also chamber music and so on. I had no idea it would be so expensive to dive deep into the world of composition! lol.

Maybe some one else can pipe up with a solution, but this would literally take 2 seconds to do for a new project. And you can create a "template project" that includes this "text" clip. Save this project and then to a get info and check "stationary pad." When you double click on this file, fcp will open with a copy of this project and you just need to do a save as.
I've been working with computer editing systems for longer than i can remember and at a certain point you just have to adapt your workflow to the limitations of the software.

My lap top wont import pictures from auto play. it keeps saying there is a file error and a device connected to the computer isnt working properly. i have tried going into the internal storage to copy and paste the pictures but this wont work either.

I have decided to dedicate this thread to the wonderful errors of Lion OSX. Each time I find a huge problem with Lion I will make note of it here.
Today I discovered a new treasure of doggie poop in Lion. No Save As......
I repeat. No Save As. In text editor I couldn't save the file with a new extension. I finally accomplished this oh so majorly difficult task (because we all know how difficult it should be to save a file with a new extension) by pressing duplicate and then saving a copy of the file with a new extension. Yet then I had to delete the first copy and send it to trash. And of course then I have to secure empty trash because if I have to do this the rest of my mac's life I will be taking up a quarter of percentage of space with duplicate files. So this is the real reason they got rid of Save As: so that it would garble up some extra GB on the ole hard disk.
So about 20 minutes of my time were wasted while doing my homework and studying for an exam because I had to look up "how to save a file with a new extension in mac Lion" and then wasted time sitting here and ranting on this forum until someone over at Apple wakes up from their OSX-coma.
are you freaking kidding me Apple? I mean REALLY?!!!! who the heck designed this?!!! I want to know. I want his or her name and I want to sit down with them and have a long chat. and then I'd probably splash cold water on their face to wake them up.
I am starting to believe that Apple is Satan.
