350 meteres of high capacity phone cable was stolen on a road which is normally very busy O__o
I feel sorry for the area is served as its literally just over the river from me and I take that route to work every day in the morning and evening. Today 4 openreach guys where there putting new cables in, 2 at each end all day today

toekneem posted something like this a few months ago where it happened in a different area, people stealing copper wire the only conclusion is that people were selling it off in a scrap yard or something.

I just bought two MD818ZM/AB oem lightning cables that are IDed as unauthentic under IOS7

I bought 2 Apple Iphone5 oem charging cables. They came in the Apple OEM packaging and are model number

Before I installed IOS7 I had no problem with these cables. Now that IOS7 is installed I get a message saying they are not
authentic and they may not work properly. So far they are charging my Iphone5 ok but it's disconcerting to receive this message
after spending the extra money for authentic cables.

I have an old ethernet CAT5 cable. I see they sell ethernet cables in the store. Will one of these cables they sell in the Apple Store give me a better connection, especially since my ethernet cable is pretty much destroyed.

I have a ethernet cable that is at least 10 years old, and I use it all the time. Nevertheless, if you want to buy one, just order the cheapest one you can find. I don't think the Apple Store sells ethernet cables that are somehow better than any other ones.
Of course, they make the best smartphone out there!

I assume you meant iCal rather than iTunes? Yes, iCal the time zone is correct. The delayed alarms only happen sporadically. Since I posted this message, the problem stopped happening every day at the same time, but it still happens occasionally with no rhyme or reason as to when. It's gotten so that I can't depend on my iCal alarms anymore.

If you want to see what is in a file that is backed up by time machine then you have to restore the entire file. Having said that I have had good experience with Time Machine and individual files... if the file is there then all of it's components are almost for sure there. A way to get around this in Aperture would be to use referenced images. The images then still exist as individual files and can be backed up and restored individually. You would have to do so on a file by file basis though and your album information would still only be saved within the Aperture library.

Gotcha.
Back-ups are what they are: a safety copy. If you feel you don't need them, you can trash them. They could be of a previous System if you upgraded, or something else. You wont get the full picture from looking at system profiler.
You may want to look into getting an external drive and offloading some stuff to it.

I really thought "urxvt" could be used as an alias or, what we called in Debian, an alternative, to the rxvt-unicode-256color command. I guess not? I'm still trying to set up "vi" to be Vim as well, and I'll read more of the Wiki to figure that stuff out with Arch.
So in the tty interface I can start zsh again just fine. That's old news. I removed the TERM setting and placed the resource in my .Xresources that derhamster said. Thanks.
I also replaced the line in my Openbox rc.xml and menu.xml for terminal opening commands (can I use $TERM for those?)
Now when I start Xorg (with Openbox running) I tried both urxvt-unicode-256color and urxvt but none of them work with Openbox. No terminal emulator pops up and no errors show that I can see.

Only after I bought a UK unlimited subscription, do I find out that it does not include UK 'shared cost' numbers - ie Royal Mail, and the Gas and Electricity companies, and I will need to buy extra credit to contact these numbers. This is very sneaky, and I am disappointed in Skype.

Calls to UK "shared cost" #s are very expensive - too expensive to be included in a Call Plan.
I will raise the issue of making it clear on our webpages that calls to UK "non-geographic" landlines are not included in Call Plans.
