They can't hear me when I call a landline in Saint...

I called a landline in Saint Vincent & The Grenadines for years without any problem. My husband is from there and that's his family. Since December, when we call it, we can hear perfectly the person on the other side, but he/she can't hear us at all. We've tried with Skype from my PC, my laptop and my smartphone. My daughter tried from her skype account and her iPad, with the same results. Why?
Thanks in advance for any help on the above
Li

Same here. I'm about to cancel my Skype subscription because of it. I did hear though, that Lime and Digicel are abusing their broadband monopoly and blocking VOIP services.

It would be nice to get a Skype technician to verify these claims.

I can't hear anything when making calls no dailing tone or anything but when I try and audioface time it works fine please help

    Hi Nfrith1,
Please take a look at the article referenced below, the same as in my original reply.  The receiver on the iPhone does not have anything to do with the speakers on the bottom of the phone nor your microphone.
    Clear the receiver
The iPhone receiver won't work properly if it's blocked or dirty. Here's where the receiver is:
Follow these steps, testing after each:
Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver, such as a case or film.
If you have a new iPhone, remove the plastic film on the front and back of the device.
Check the receiver opening to see if it's blocked or dirty. If necessary, clean the receiver opening with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
While you're on a call, turn on speakerphone. If you still can't hear, then your network or reception could be the issue. Try calling again later or from a different location.
    Restart and update
Restart your iPhone and test again.
If there's still no sound or poor sound quality, update to the latest version of iOS.

  • Problem with my iphone 4s, i can't hear anything when making calls

I can only hear when i turn the speaker on, but as soon as the speaker is turned off, it went mute. the person on the other side of the line can hear me perfectly. it also works fine when i plug in the earphone. this is really annoying.
and the most annoying thing is that i bought this new iphone4s in Canada and brought it all the way back to China. if i was to return it , it would take a painfully long time.  what do i do?

  • They can't hear me when I make a call or when I'm being called

when I make a phone call the other person cannot hear me, same thing when they call me, help?

While I've not tried it myself, I'e read that if you plug in the headphones, start a track on iPod and unplug the headphones while the track is playing and verify that it is playing through the speakers. While it is playing through the speakers, then turn the iPod off. It says then that the earpiece should work. Try this and see if it works. If not, then try powering the phone off, next step if that doesn't work is reset (sleep/wake key and home key held until Apple appears), next step is restore, and finally call Apple or stop at Apple store after making an appointment.
    Hope this helps you.

  • I am having multiple problems with my iphone 4s, people can't hear me when I call, text messages don't always send, calls go straight to voice mail. I have all bars, have hard rest 3 times. I have called apple 4 times and gone to a store. No help.

I have had the 3g, 3gs, 4 and little if any problems. I made a major mistake buying the 4s. What a horrible phone. I must say, apple service is at best, BAD. Here are the basics. I am on the same network, I call the same people, I use the same text messages as I did with the 4. With the 4s, I will call someone and they will not be able to hear me. I have to hang up and recall. Or the phone just does nothing when I press call. Text messages acts like they send but when I go back the have been sent. Sometimes the calls go direct to voice mail.
Here's what I have done. Reset, did not help. Called apple, advisor said she would call me back in 5 minutes, after waiting for 5 days for the call, I recalled, they walked me through the same things I had already done, then said to take it to a store. So they set up an appointment for the only day I could get to it, 1 1/2 hours away, on my grand son's birthday. That was okay if they fixed it. So they hard reset it, we had to setup 4 email accounts, they would not allow me to restore because they said it was a software problem. So I had to download all the apps, lost a lot of data. No fun. But if it worked! So Monday back at work, guess what, same thing. When home and did another hard reset. Still no lick. Called apple again. They said they would replace my phone, all they needed was to put a hold on a credit card for $899 or drive a 1 1/2 hours to a store.
So anyone know a good andriod phone.
PS I got a email asking about the service each time and each time I told them what a horrible phone it was and how bad service was. I have yet to hear back. I guess they do not read them!

  • I have an iPhone 4, and the other person can not hear me when i call, any ideas?

I am originally from SD, but i was in boulder, colorado this weekend and my iPhone 4 worked fine on Saturday. I got up on Sunday and when i would make a call, the person on the other end could not hear me. I thought it might have been something with the service, but once i got back to SD, the same thing happened. I took it into AT&T and they said it was probably something with the microphone, well today i tried facetiming someone and they could hear me. Anyone know any solutions or what may be wrong?
    Thanks!

  • When i called someone they can barely hear me

Hi please tell me why they can barely hear me when i called them?

    Hey marcelofromtustin,
I found the following recommended steps for when the person you're talking to claims that you sound muffled or not loud enough:
Check the volume setting on your iPhone. You can adjust the volume by pressing the volume up and down buttons on the left side of the iPhone.
If you are using a third-party iPhone case, make sure it is not covering the speaker, microphone, or top microphone. Try making some calls without the case to see if a caller can now hear you more clearly or play music to see if the speaker's volume is better.
If you have not removed the plastic display film used for protection during shipment, either ensure that the microphone and speaker are not covered or remove the film completely.
Check that the speaker, microphone mesh covers, and top microphone hole are not clogged with lint or other debris.
If the speaker, microphone mesh, or top microphone (iPhone 4 only) appear clogged, please use a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush to clean them. To do this follow these instructions:
Use the brush to carefully and gently brush the speaker and microphone mesh.
Brush away from the 30-pin dock connector to avoid getting any debris into the dock connector.

  • Calls have been dropping out mid-call (after initially working) with full reception since upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS5 (can hear them but they can't hear me).

Calls have been dropping out mid-call (after initially working) with full reception since upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS5 (can hear them but they can't hear me). The call initially works but then after a minute or so, they stop hearing me, even though I can hear them. Sometimes it goes the other way and I can't hear them.
Please advise how to remedy ASAP.

PS: I have had full reception bars when this has occured on a 3G network in Sydney, Australia (3 Mobile).

  • When I make a call, I can hear the person on the other end but they can't hear me. It's not the mic, I use the voice recorder all the time and I have no problems w FaceTime. My headphones and Bluetooth do the same thing as far as not being able to be hea

When I make a call, I can hear the person on the other end but they can't hear me. It's not the mic bc face time or voice recorder are not affected. I can't even use my headphones or Bluetooth to get around the problem. This has stumped 2 geniuses, they just try to swap it out for $150.

I am having the same issue with my iPhone 4. I can hear everyone but they can't hear me. Visited Apple Store and they said speakers were out, both bottom mic and top one for speaker phone. Said they were busted. Reloaded all software and didn't work. Got in parking lot and worked for 1 call. Now it's out again. Wanted $150 for new phone, haven't done it yet. don't know what to do.

I can hear caller but they can not hear me except when using speaker phone

First of all,  make sure that your iPhone as the most recent iOS available. Check in "Settings>General>Software Update".
One other problem could be your microphone. Does it work for anything else other than a call?
    Good-Luck!
