Thin Black Border on Video in Interactive PDF (Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional)

Hi
I am having issues with embedded video in an interactive pdf (currently using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional).
I have placed my media mp4 file in the pdf. I would like the video to have no border, so I proceeded to Multimedia Properties to edit the Appearance and set the Border Type to Invisible Rectangle. I also editted the Playback settings for the Rendition to keep the player open "Forever once activated." But every time I view pages in my interactive pdf with video there is still a thin black border surrounding the videos on initial play. If I have already viewed the video and come back to the page, the border dissapears.
Is there a way to ensure the thin black border/outline never appears in the pdf, even when first opening and viewing the file? Does this have to do with the Acrobat 8 in particular? Please let me know if you are also encountering this problem or have a solution.

Thank you so much for your help.
I am now working in Adobe Acrobat X Pro and have embedded the same video. The borders have disappeared.
I have set the video activation settings to enable when "The page containing the content is opened". When the page is opened, I am now seeing a grey box (the size of the video) flash before the video is played. Do you know of a way to not have the grey box appear before the video plays? Or is there even a way to edit the color of this box so it is a less noticeable transition in my documet? I assume this is some sort of default setting to be displayed when the video loads. Any suggestions regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • Super thin black border showing around video when I zoom out or pan the video...

    Hi all,
I have a video I'm making in Adobe Premier Pro CS5.5. I am using 2 video slots in Premiere Pro's sequence area. A white image is in "Video 1" spot and a video is in"Video 2" spot.
The white image in "Video 1" slot is the exact same color as the background color of the video in "Video 2" slot.
The reason for this is when I zoom the video out or pan it slightly off the screen I just want it to look like the video is moving (and I don't want anyone to be able to see the black backdrop that is normal background color on a Premiere Pro video).
After I go to effects control, and change the position and scale of the video; the video scales out and pans over fine ...however, the border of the video shows slightly ...even flickers a little. Is there a way to get rid of this thin black border line? ..So no one can tell where the video (in "video 2" slot) ends and where that white background I have in "video 1" is ...by removing this flickering border?
Here's a Screencast of the issue. I point at that thin border I'm talking about when I pan the video over (which reveals the white backdrop):http: Screencast.com/t/45xp0bQ82f
Thank you so much for any help you can provide. I appreciate it.

  • Print TIF document shows thin black border

    Hi,
when opening an archived document in the ECL Viewer 6.0 patch level 4, it shows a thin black border around the document. This border is not intentionally, it is drawn by the viewer.
I've verified this by opening the appropriate .tif file from the TEMP folder in an alternate viewer. This means this black border is visible on the print-out, too, which is really annoying.
I noticed when zooming the document on screen to get the border out of sight and print afterwards, the border disappears (on the paper) as well. So I assume that the viewer is responsible for drawing this box around and as a result sends it to the printer, too.
Can I somehow switch off this behavior in the viewer?
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
I opened the TIF file in ECL Viewer 6.0, selected 'Viewer' -> 'Print'
from the available menu options. Then in the dialog box that shows the
print details, I switched to tab 'Print Layout' and under the section
'Quality' in that window, I set the quality of the print image to
High Definition/Low Speed and then printed the TIF. I was able to get
the TIF printed in Microsoft Document Imager in good quality.
Few other customers had already reported this issue. On checking this
with the ECL Viewer vendor, Siemens PLM, they came back to us stating
that this cannot be set as standard by a fix as such. However, once you
set the print quality to 'High', it will remain so. I am sorry that
there is no other solution available for this. Please change the print
quality manually to High once and it will remain the same.
    Best regards,
    Christoph

  • Interactive PDF crashes Acrobat 9

Has anyone experienced interactive PDFs causing Acrobat 9 to crash? The PDF was created using the Interactive PDF preset in InDesign CS5. The file contains buttons, SWF animations, and videos. The file is about 300MB, mostly from the embedded videos.
The PDF file opens without incident on most of our machines. On about half of the machines, Acrobat 9 crashes when opening the file. The error in the event log refers to an error in drvdx9.x3d.
    OS: Windows XP SP3
    Acrobat version: 9.0, 9.2, 9.4.1
The troubleshooting steps we have already tried include
updated chipset/display drivers on Rick’s laptop
copied the drvdx9.x3d file from my machine to his
    updated DirectX
    uninstalled/reinstalled/patched Acrobat
    disabled hardware acceleration in Flash

I have checked and unchecked every single option in the preferences just to see what the result would be.
When comparing the preferences of PDFmaker 8 and PDFmaker 9 the differences are pretty obvious.
PDFmaker 8 will have 1 option more then PDFmaker 9. Its that option that will make the links in the index work.
I dont think posting screendumps will work, since our system is dutch and everything will be in dutch.
We have AA9.3, we always keep things updated.
Repairing Acrobat wont solve it. We only have 1 workstation with AA8 and its that station that has this option. All other AA9.x station dont.
I dont believe the option is removed completely, but probably moved to some other place to be checked or unchecked. I just dont know where..
    Any more suggestions are welcome!

  • How to embed a mp4 video into a pdf with acrobat pro XI?

I'm  trying to embed a mp4 video into a pdf using Acrobat Pro XI.  When I try to play the video, all I see is a black box. The video is H.264 codec. I've tried on a PC and Mac and get the same results.

Video playback in the Acrobat Family uses Flash Player, so if it works in FP (loaded via an HTML page) then it should work in your PDF. First suggestion is to use the free MediaInfo tool to check exactly what the internal structure reports as.

  • Printing Problems with PDF - Adobe Acrobat

    Printer - HP Deskjet 3070A
Laptop - Asus Zenbook running Windows 7 Home Premium
Issue: Printing problems with PDF (Adobe Acrobat Reader)
    Dear All,
    Please help!
My printer was working absolutely perfectly until my brother in law recently needed to borrow my printer. He plugged in his laptop running Windows 8 (awful thing that is). Since he did this to print his own PDF, I cannot print mine.
Although all the text will appear on the page perfectly both in the document view and on actual printing, it appears that some of the transparent formatting stuff on a PDF - such as boxes you have to fill in and transparent areas (such as you find on glorious tax forms) are omitted completely. In fact, in their place I was getting a single black dot. Now, after uninstalling and re-installing updates for the printer, windows 7, adobe acrobat reader, etc.etc. I get squat. Just all the text laid out but none of the shading or boxes.
I have tried fiddling with the printer settings; the  print as 'photo' option, dpi settings, greyscale - as much as I can think of and I am thoroughly stumped.
In a desperate attempt, I even installed the Universal Printer Drivers - thinking it might have been that. No. All I got was a page of gobbledygook. Consequently, I uninstalled and reinstalled the normal drivers again.
If there are any wonderful people out there with any fabulous ideas about how I can get my shading and boxes back; I'd  very much appreciate it. Sadly I have a tax return to fill out (which is already fabulously late) and need my printer to work!
    Much appreciation in advance x

    Hey there @Reverie!
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
I can see that the printer is no longer printing in the correct format after it was plugged into the Windows 8 computer!  You mentioned you have run the updates and uninstalled/re-installed the printer software.  Have you uninstalled and re-installed the Adobe software? Are you getting the same issue from other programs as well? Are you getting the same issues if you are logged in as a different user on the computer?
I have located the HP Update Software Utility that may be able to help.  You can download an run the utility.  It may be able to locate any other updates for the printer.
I would also recommend running a disk cleanup on the computer to clear any temporary files and junk files that may be causing some performance or software issues. If you do not know how to run a disk cleanup on the computer please follow this document regarding Delete files using Disk Cleanup.  It is recommended to restart the computer after a disk cleanup. After the restart try the print job again!
Let me know if that helped and thanks again for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Problem in creating PDF of Website using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.

I am trying to create PDF file of full website using "Create PDF from Web Page..." option, in Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.
It is creating PDF but the page alignments/text/images alignments are lost and doesn't look good.
Can any one help to create the PDF same as webpage look and feel.
    Thanks.

Acrobat 8's HTML->PDF engine is quite old and doesn't work well with modern web pages. I'd recommend trying the same page using Acrobat X (trial available) where the engine has been replaced and modernized.

  • Please Help!! Links to other PDF documents in my PDF document open in Adobe Acrobat Professional but NOT Adobe Reader XI

    Hi everyone,
I really hope someone can help me with this problem. I work for a software company and we have a release coming up. Every release requires me to create a 'menu' which is what users see when they insert the release CD. I create this menu in Adobe Acrobat Professional, and add links to all the PDF manuals we have for our products. When I open the Menu in Acrobat Professional, all links open fine. When just attempting to open the links using the default Adobe Reader (which i'm guessing most of our customers will use), nothing happens, not even an error is generated. I'm ensuring I link to the documents that reside in the same folder on my directory as the menu. Is this something to do with relative/absolute links? Something to do with Reader XI, as I don't remember having this problem for our last release? Foxit also seems to work in opening the links.
    Thanks

I’m using version 11.0.10. So where the Menu resides in a folder ready to be burnt on to a CD, that same folder is where the links point to.
    Thanks

  • HT4356 Fillable pdf in Adobe Acrobat Professional X but when I try to use the Airprint feature the form print minus the field data, have anyone been able to resolve this issue?

I have developed a fillable pdf in Adobe Acrobat Professional X but when I try to use the Airprint feature the form print minus the field data, have anyone been able to resolve this issue?

    Hi,
I had a similar problem and found help for it. Go to the "Advanced" menu and select Extend features in Adobe Reader. That will enable rights which may resolve your problem. If that doesn't work, there is a really helpful guy in here, Robert Levine. You may want to ask him directly.

  • Printing PDF Adobe Acrobat Documents

I receive emails from my job and the attachments are PDF Adobe Acrobat Documents and I get an error message when I try to print them.  The error message is:  PROP Res DLL Not Loaded.  I have talked to a computer tech to see why I could not print those attachments and they said that I needed to download the Adobe Flash Player.  I have done that just recently and I was given the notification that it did download.  I went to try to print those documents and I get the same error message: Prop Res DLL Not Loaded.  What do I have to do to be able to print those documents?

This is usually associated with LexMark printers installed under Windows.  A possible fix is given at

  • Playing video in Interactive PDFs

When I embed a video (.mp4, .flv, etc) and export to an interactive PDF in Indesign, I keep getting asked to download the newest version of Flash player (which I already did) and the video won't play. Any suggestions?

Are you playing the video in Acrobat? If so, I'd ask in the Acrobat forums. It's not really an InDesign issue.

  • Embedded Video in Interactive PDF from Indesign (click to activate! grr!)

    Hi guys
I am trying to put together an interactive PDF newsletter which has a video and a small slide show in it.
I am pretty new to this interactive element of indesign.
The video seems to have embedded fine (it is a FLV file), but when I view the PDF and hover over it I get a click to activate message.  While this is useful in telling the user to click on it, I would much rather it was nicely greyed out with the small play triangle in the middle and worked when the user clicked on that.
I guess my issue is a presentational one mainly.  Does this make any sense to anyone?!
    Thanks

The way the PDF plays in Acrobat or Reader (this is what you're using, right?) is nothing InDesign has any control over.
So this really should be posted in the Acrobat forums. However, I don't believe there is any way you can modify this message, I'm afraid.

  • Streaming video in interactive pdf

I have read everything I can on this subject, and although it looks like I should be able to do it, I have so far been unable to make it work!
My dilemma: Creating an Interactive PDF from InDesign CS6, and I would like to include links to various streaming video's throughout the pdf.  I would like them to run within the pdf (as a floating window), not pop out to the users web browser.  I would like people to be able to play them, and then play them again if they need to listen again, aka, loop, I guess.
My attempts: I have created the Play button (to launch the video) in InD and when I exported it to PDF, I tried to set the video up there.  I had minimal success with that route.  I've also tried to do the whole thing directly in InD, including the link to the video, but had no success.
I have downloaded two different replacement Flash players and tried to make both of them work, but with no real success.  However, I fully admit that I am not as technically savy as what they expect, since I really don't get the whole "do this in Java" part.  I tried to copy their script stuff in and replace my info where I saw it fit, but apparently there is other things going on that I am not getting.
Help!  If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.  Or even if there is somewhere you can steer me to learn how to do it, I'll go.  So far, most of the stuff has been programmatically over my head, even though I'm not a new user to the Creative Suite, unfortunately, it's all been print.

First thing to say is that if you want the video to be truly "streaming" it has to be served from an Adobe Media Server platform using the RTMP/RTMPE protocol.
Assuming you have the URL of such a stream, it's easy to create the annotation in Acrobat Pro. If you want a floating window and a 'play' button, this is the simnplest workflow as there's no scripting involved - but you need to create an image that will act as the button.
Use the Add Video tool to draw a region on the page which will be where your 'play' button sits.
In the Insert Video dialog there's a "Select file or insert URL" field at the top - in there, type the full URL of your RTMP stream.
Click "show advanced options" and select "Create poster from file", then open your image of the play button.
Set the playback style to "floating window" and enter the dimensions of the stream.
    Click OK.
If you already have the graphic for the play button as part of the PDF page itself, you can use a different workflow:
Use the Add Video tool to draw a very small region on the page which will be where the video poster sits (it has to exist but you want to hide it somewhere...).
Set the video options as before and click OK.
Use the Add Link tool to create a link region around the play button shape on your page.
Set the link to "Custom Action"
On the Actions tab, set the event to "Multimedia Operation (Acrobat 9 and later)", choose your video from the list, then in the lower area choose Play.

  • Embedded videos in Interactive PDF play sluggish

I have created an Interactive PDF using Indesign CS6. It is a 43 page pdf with a video embedded on 5 of those pages. When the final PDF is played on a PC, the videos seems to play sluggishly after watching a previous video. It seems there is some sort of background process going on once the videos play that hampers the playback of the next video. Has anyone else had this issue?
    Thanks,
    MD

    Thanks for your reply Dave.
The .mp4 videos are imported into InDesign and are controlled using one of the Skin options from the Media tab which allow the user to Play/Stop/Seek/Mute/Vol.
    The video sizes are 677k, 2.7mb, 3.9mb, 13.2mb, and 13.4mb.
Also, when I'm playing a video with audio, if I decide to go to the next page before stopping the video, the audio still plays in the background even though I'm on a different page. It doesn't look like there are too many options to choose from on the Media tab in InDesign so I'm wondering if there is something I'm missing to have more control over the video.
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • How can video of interactive pdf show on Ipad?

Created an interactive pdf in InDesign with a video at the end, H.264 mp4 for Ipad size. THe video will show on the computer but will not show on the Ipad. Downloaded Adobe Reader 10.3 it can see it but will not play. Any ideas of how to get the video to show in the interactive pdf on Ipad?

Adobe Reader 10.3 does not yet support multimedia. None of the free readers I've found support it.
The best PDF reader I've found for the iPad is not free, $US9.99: PDF Expert. It supports multimedia.
