Thin edges adobe cs 4

I used the pen tool to trace an outline of an image and clicked on stroke path using the pencil tool 1px and the edges are came out jagged and thin.
When I zoom out, you can barely see the outline.

The only true view in photoshop 100% view, as other % views use image interpolation
and may not show accurate results. In other words if the image looks good at 100%, then
there's nothing to change. Try viewing %'s of 25 and 50 which might show solid lines, but
check any editing you've done at 100% view before saving.
You can do a test print and see the lines will probably print fine.
If you use the zoom tool to zoom in or out, you can see the viewing % at the top left of the
document window or tab.

  • Thin App - Adobe Photoshop Elements 9

    Hi,
I appear to be unable to thin app Adobe Photoshop Elements 9. The thin capture installation goes well and is registered.
Once the Thin app is applied to the view machine, the application appears not to be registered. Anyway round this?
    Thank you

This question does not appear to be related to Acrobat. I suggest you try the PhotoShop Elements forum. You can  just backup to the Adobe Community (just below the Adobe icon on the page) and from the forums options go down to PhotoShop Elements.

  • Rolling credits "flickering"

My rolling credits are "flickering" -- does anyone know why this is happening, and how to fix?*

    Some other ideas:
Are you using a Serif font?  The thin edges of the font can cause flickering.  It's best to always use a Sans Serif font.
Does the frame size of the title match the frame size of the sequence?

  • New iMac won't recognize my external monitor.

I just upgraded my workplace computer to a late-2012 iMac (with the thin edges) from the previous older model.
I have an external monitor that I use as a secondary screen - a Samsung SyncMaster BX2440 - that worked great on my older machine using the DVI adapter.
When I plug the same adapter into my newer machine, it won't recongize the external monitor.
I tried resetting the PRAM, but no dice.
Is this a Thunderbolt issue, and if so, how easy is it to resolve? Do I just need to get a newer DVI adapter?

Loner: I looked at that and it only shows the main iMac display. Doesn't show the other device.
The model I'm using is a Thunderbolt machine (has the lightning bolt arrow icon).  The previous machine was a DisplayPort model.
The adapter is the Apple-issued DVI adapter, but I'm guessing that even though TB and DP use the same physical plug interface, the adapters are not compatible?
(The adapter has the standard monitor icons on it - box with vertical lines on either side).

  • Replacing W701 SSD primary drive

It's 3 and a half years old but there were problems with it since it was about 8 months old. It has finally gotten to the point where it needs to be replaced. From the Lenovo site this appears to be a drive that would work. http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-73173
Unfortunately it has been amazingly difficult to even find out the price of it and another drive I'm considering. It's taken about 8 phone calls so far. Out of the last 3 (after going through the menu options), 2 disconnected and the third one finally said 'I'm sorry, your call did not go through. Please try again.'
I have a preference for a Samsung drive anyway, this one: http://www.staples.ca/en/Samsung-840-PRO-256GB-25-SATA3-Internal-SSD/product_167664_2-CA_1_20001 (That one is from staples.ca in Canada, but they probably have it State side as well.)
It has a 5 year warranty compared to 90 days from Lenovo, and a decent name. The problem is that if you look at the first drive I linked to, it has thin edges, and the carriage, caddy, or holder for it looks like mine. The Samsung drive wouldn't fit it.
I've been Googling and read stories of people making duct tape (or whatever) bumpers and spacers to hold drives in place, and they have worked. I guess I'll try that as a last resort, but I wondered if anyone here had something that might work. Even if it's not a complete solution, it might spark another idea.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Just thought I'd post the happy ending to this. I did replace the SSD with a 7 mm Samsung SSD, and it's working beautifully. It has a 3 year warranty. The rubber pieces from the Lenovo drive didn't exactly fit, but with a bit of muscle they did the job.
I'm really glad this worked out. It's my favorite computer again. I don't think they even make 16:10 screens any more, and I appreciate that. Hope everything else holds up and I get to use this for a few years to come.

  • Degraded image quality on export

I have placed images in the timeline and images that are
brought in using XML. The images have text on them and when I
export the swf it is distorting the text in the image. It looks
fine when I export as a JPG and it looks fine when I place it in
the timeline. I have tried everything i think for export options
such as JPEG quality and compression but nothing works. This is the
first time I've had this problem because I normally design with
text in Flash, but I need it to be in the image for efficiency in
updating with XML. Has anyone else had this issue?

FCP can and does produce broadcast quality video on a daily basis all over the world. Your problem is unique to your situation and not indicative of FCP's overall capabilities.
In my opinion the DV codec is not broadcast quality despite the fact that it's often used as such. It's a horrible codec with regards to fine detail, thin edges and graphics in general. Standard def as a format is not kind to thin font types either since there are only 480 horizontal lines of resolution compared to 1080 lines in HD.
Compressor does a better job of downrezzing than FCP because of the fine detail controls it has. It's part of the suite for that reason just like Motion is used for complex compositing even though you can composite in FCP. If you're having a problem with encodes in Compressor, I think THAT might actually be your real problem. You should try googling a program called Compressor Repair. It may be able to help.
If you're determined to stay in FCP, you should try nesting into an Uncompressed 8-bit sequence instead of DV. The Uncompressed codec has a much better chance of handling the fine detail in your HD signal than the DV codec does.

  • Jitter / Judder / degraded image quality on HD to SD downres for broadcast

I work for Australian television and am having jitter/judder issues when HD detail (in my case 1080p25 XDCAM EX) is downresed to SD (DVCPRO50i50) for broadcast.
From the Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 XDCAM sequence I choose Export Quicktime Movie and set it to PAL DV50.
(I don't use Compressor in this step because it consistently throws away about 5% of the pixels on the left and right edges of the image...bizarre!)
At our TV station they play my Quicktime DV50 out to DVCPRO50 tape from FCP without rendering.
I also encode a preview DVD from the same DV50 Quicktime file.
The DV50 Quicktime movie, the tape playout, AND the DVD ALL show a noticeable degree of jitter in fine detail when viewed on broadcast interlace monitors. But it scraped through tech checks.
It's when it's broadcast that it suddenly becomes terrible (I suspect these issues are probably amplified by the compression levels of digital TV here in Australia!)
I'll post a still which I screen captured from the digital broadcast yesterday.
You can see the loss of quality on anything that was sharp - eg. the nearest French Horn and the caption credit.
Detail on both dances like crazy when the film plays on my LCD monitor!
If anybody has any suggestions, please do let me know, as I can't find any other posts on downres issues.
    Thanks!
    Adam

  • Thin Black Border on Video in Interactive PDF (Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional)

    Hi
I am having issues with embedded video in an interactive pdf (currently using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional).
I have placed my media mp4 file in the pdf. I would like the video to have no border, so I proceeded to Multimedia Properties to edit the Appearance and set the Border Type to Invisible Rectangle. I also editted the Playback settings for the Rendition to keep the player open "Forever once activated." But every time I view pages in my interactive pdf with video there is still a thin black border surrounding the videos on initial play. If I have already viewed the video and come back to the page, the border dissapears.
Is there a way to ensure the thin black border/outline never appears in the pdf, even when first opening and viewing the file? Does this have to do with the Acrobat 8 in particular? Please let me know if you are also encountering this problem or have a solution.

Thank you so much for your help.
I am now working in Adobe Acrobat X Pro and have embedded the same video. The borders have disappeared.
I have set the video activation settings to enable when "The page containing the content is opened". When the page is opened, I am now seeing a grey box (the size of the video) flash before the video is played. Do you know of a way to not have the grey box appear before the video plays? Or is there even a way to edit the color of this box so it is a less noticeable transition in my documet? I assume this is some sort of default setting to be displayed when the video loads. Any suggestions regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • Installing Adobe Reader on a Thin Client

I have 27 Thin clients (HP t5639w) to set up in the next day or two... the problem: right out of the box, I am unable to install Adobe Reader on them. I have made room to install by using a flash drive to increase RAM, and Reader appears to have successfully loaded, but each time I try to open after install I get the following error message: "Font Capture: AcroRd32.exe Application Error.... The exception unknown software. Exception (0xc06d007e) occurred in the application at location 0x7c812afb."
I've tried to contact HP customer support - unfortunately, they refer me to the HP website and tell me to download the version there. It's the same version I've tried to install - no luck. I have installed other software on the Thin Clients successfully, but I'm only having an issue with Reader.
Anyone else have a similar issue? Any ideas?

    Here's the process:
    ·         Download Adobe to USB drive
    ·         Remove write filter – reboot
    ·         Create temporary TEMP and TMP folders on C: drive
    ·         Change Windows TEMP variables (both TEMP and TMP) to a folder on the “Hard Disk” – Reboot (Make a note of values before changing).
    ·         Install Adobe Reader – Reboot
    ·         Run Adobe Reader – If runs reboot
    ·         Replace TEMP and TMP variable entries (Usually Z:\TEMP and Z:\TMP respectively) – Reboot
    ·         Delete temporary TEMP and TMP folders – reboot
    ·         Re-enable write filter
    This worked for me!

  • Line drawings distorted by Adobe Reader's Thin Line Enhancement feature

I am working with InDesign CS6 on an engineering textbook with approximately 1300 line drawings.  When a pdf exported from InDesign is viewed in Adobe Reader XI, the line widths of the drawings are distorted by Reader's Thin Line Enhancement feature.  The default setting for Thin Line Enhancement in Reader is on.  I understand that Reader's user features cannot be controlled by a document.  Is there anything I can do in InDesign to would reduce the effect of Reader's Thin Line Enhancement on the image quality?
(Ironically, the art work drawn in Illustrator in a pdf and exported from InDesign looks fine in Google Chrome, but wretched in Adobe Reader!)

Thank you for your response.  The textbook is to be printed and presented as an ebook. The print version is not a problem nor is the ebook version when viewed in a pdf viewer other than Adobe Reader, or in Adobe Reader in the non-default state with the Thin Line Enhancement feature disabled.
I  attempted to resolve the Adobe Reader Thin Line Enhancement problem by increasing line widths and ensuring that interrupted lines segments were aligned.  Sadly, the overall size of the illustrations limits the the maximum width of the thinnest lines and Thin Line Enhancement problem persisted.
The reason I ask if there is anything which can be done within InDesign to counter the distortion of Reader's Thin Line Enhancement is the following observation.  An MS Word document with the same illustrations embedded as png graphics and saved as a pdf does not suffer the Thin Line Enhancement distortion when viewed in Adobe Reader.  I am hoping that whatever is done when MS Word saves a document as a pdf can be replicated when InDesign exports a pdf.  Unfortunately, I am constrained by my publisher to link rather than embed the graphics.  I have experimented linking eps, Illustrator, and pdf graphics files but they pdfs exported from InDesign were distorted when viewed in the default configuration of Adobe Reader.
I must disagree with your assertion that the only correct way to view the pdf is in Adobe Reader.  Adobe Reader distorts the images unless the user has disabled the Thin Line Enhancement.  I believe that I am a typical user of Adobe Reader in that I was unaware that the feature existed until recently.  I mistakenly presumed that what may have been distorted graphics were simply poor quality graphics.  Given my choice, I would hope that none of the future readers of the text use Adobe Reader, but, unfortunately, I know that many will.  That is why I am attempting to resolve this problem.

  • How do I set the finder column view to always display the "thin" column edges?

Sometimes finder switches to display thick column edges. These screen shots were taken 5 min apart, after a restart.  I would love to know to to make sure it always displays the thin version.
Side note: does anyone know how to open new columns that automatically resize to fit the largest file name.....?    Having to constantly resize columns is really irritating.

it can not display what has not been downloaded, for them to be the same I assume you have chosen to leave messages on the server.
Date: is set by the sender and has nothing to do with a delivery date in Thunderbird. If Thunderbird is displaying the date the message arrived in Thunderbird, what is in the date: header?
Received: is a series of transmission points and following the instructions below will display the latest.
    * Select Tools/Options from the main menu.
    * Click Config Editor.
    * If a warning displays, click “I’ll be careful, I promise!”.
    * Locate the mailnews.customDBHeaders preference, e.g. by typing “dbh” in the Filter field. Double click it, or select and press Enter.
    * If the preference was not set previously, type “Received” and click OK. If some extension has already populated the preference, add “ Received” to the end of the list of headers, separating it with space.
    * Close the Config Editor and restart Thunderbird.
