Things disappearing

Hi everyone... This problem is driving me crazy...
I use 3 different browsers, Safari, Firefox and Opera.
Whenever I shutdown my computer and start it up later all my browsers are switched back to their original homepage.
I switch Safari's homepage to Yahoo, but when I restart it's
back to the "apple"home page" This applies to Opera and Firefox as well.
Also all my passwords are gone. I downloaded over 100 photos
and cant find them anywhere, they were in a "pictures folder" but now the "picture folder" looks different and the music folder no longer has a music note on it and my pics are gone.
Please, please help me!!!

What diagnostic or repair procedures have you implemented?
Here is what I suggest:
1. Repair Disk Permissions from internal HDD.
2. Boot from install disk and Repair Disk.
3. If Disk Repair reports disk needs no repairs, OK. If not, I suggest running Disk Warrior.
Take a look at Dr. Smoke's Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption and follow suggestions.
I am not sure what maintenance procedures you run, and how often. Mac OS X System Maintenance has a number of good suggestions with links to resources.

HELP! - Things disappear from Indesign files!!! (images, boxes, lines, logos etc)

Things disappear from my indesign files!!!!
Images, boxes, lines logos, other design elemtents will be missing from a page when I open indesign. I restore the same file from time machine yesterday! and all the elements are on the page (it is fine).
The only thing I have done to the file the morning is to copy and paste a line of text from excel on to a different page of the file.
Please help!

I have found another indesign file with the same problem!!!!
Its a text box this time!
Luckily its just a spread with a couple of words saying what needs to go on the spread when I come to design it.

Why are things disappearing from the screen?

Hi, I've been having a weird issue where things will randomly disappear from the screen. Sometimes it's a giant rectangular shaped hunk of content right in the middle of an application, particularly Safari and Adobe Illustrator- other times individual interface items simply disappear. In Illustrator zooming in and out usually brings it back. In Safari sometimes reloading the page helps, but not always, and sometimes it continues to show content from another tab or from previously visited pages in the area where content is missing. In the attached screen shot of the Photoshop interface all of the control handles and labels on the contextual tool bar have disappeared. If I can reproduce the problem in Safari or Illustrator I'll upload a screenshot of that too.
This happens regardless of which monitor the app is on, and regardless of whether another display is connected or not.

I'm going to try wiping and going back to Mountain Lion because of this and another on-going issue with wifi that has yet to be resolved

ok, so I didn't go back to mountain lion. I couldn't seem to locate the time machine backup for it and Apple won't let me roll back through their systems. So I'm back on a fresh install of Mavericks and the issue seems to be continuing, at least in Safari. I tried to get a screenshot but let go too early and as soon as it took the screen shot the missing block of content returned to normal.

Strange things, disappearing data....

Okay, people, i have a somewhat strange problem...
I've got a new 80 GB vid-iPod, and yesterday, i put something over 45 GB of music and video's on it.
It worked superb, but, when i later on synchronised again, a lot of numbers (which are still displayed in iTunes AND on the iPod)just won't play, the iPod can't find them. (iTunes can btw). So i looked at info, and my free space on the iPod is 64 GB! But it also says that i used 45...
So what i basically have, is around 25 GB of 'ghost'-music, it's listed, but it isn't there anymore...
Can someone tell me what this might be?

Well, let me give you some more info... It basically skips through the songs untill a song does play, and that is once in every ten songs or so...
Plus, in iTunes, no exclamations or outgreying is present, it all looks very healthy...
(and all files copying again takes me 48 hours or so, i hope you have a nice solution! ;))

HT1386 My iphone 4S is not syncing properly. Some things that were on my iphone calendar are no long there but are still on my entourage calendar. I cannot get them to go back to my phone. Other things move ok, but not all. What is happening and wht c

Something has changed with my iphone syncing and I don't know what. I use entourage exclusively for my calendar and contacts on my Mac computer.
My calendars were syncing fine using itunes, both with wifi and connected. Then some things disappeared from my calendar, and I can't get them back. New events sync fine, but my computer has events that will not go over at all. I even tried to replace all my phone calendar with everything from my entourage calendar, and again the same things did not move. What could I be doing wrong.
Now, I have a bunch of stuff on my Mac entourage calendar double. There is sooooo much work to get that back to normal. I am starting to think that my phone and calendar syncing is tooooo much work. I don't have the time for this.

But once again, I do not want to lose my other texts, app progress, and photos. I could sync the photos but i would still lose the app progress and texts. I would only restore if it was the only option left, but the other space, as already stated, isnt the main concern. The main concern is those 'deleted' texts. If they go, then a good size chunk of the other space goes. I know you CAN delete texts for good. It worked fine before. All i want to know is why its not working for me now, and how to fix it.
I also know that when you delete texts on your iphone, they get marked for deletion, however they stay on your device (thats why they show up when you search for them.) then when you sync your device with itunes, the texts marked for deletion should disappear. When i synced they didnt disappear. Thats what i need an explanation/solution for. Why the texts marked for deletion didnt get fully deleted after the sync.

I cannot get the toggle link to the business email to stay up long enough to click it. The same thing happens when I try to hit the toggle reply "to sender" or "to all" dropdown on the side of the "reply" button. What can I do to fix this?

Clicking on my e-mail link, [email protected], loads the business side link right underneath. I click on my e-mail address, the business side flashes on the screen, but again when I try to click it, the whole thing disappears.
The same thing is happening with the "reply" button drop down menu for "reply to sender" and "reply to all" menu items.

It seems like you already have an old installation of Story.
You will have to remove it first before installing the latest one.
So the steps would be:
- Open 'Applications' folder in finder and move 'Adobe Story' app to Trash. Remove it from Trash too.
- Search 'Adobe Story' in Spotlight to make sure that this application is not installed on a different drive. If installed then remove that version too.
- Now download the latest version and install it. ( you can download the installer directly from: https://story.adobe.com/AIR/AdobeStory.air )

Disappearing Start Items

I have a Start Button problem with a Windows 7 SP-1 computer.
When I click Start / All Programs, the list of programs duly appears but when I then left-click on any folder in the resultant list (e.g. the "Microsoft Office" folder), although the folder correctly expands to show
the short-cuts contained (Excel, Word etc in this example), they only stay in view fleetingly. The whole thing disappears a split-second later, long before I can click on one of the short-cuts to run it.
Right-clicking on the same folder works fine. E.g., When I click Start / All Programs, right-click on the Microsoft Office folder and select "open", a Windows Explorer window correctly displays the contents of C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start
Menu\Programs\Microsoft Office. All of the Office shortcuts are there and I can double-click on them in the normal way.
The above problem only happens with folders. Items in the Start / All Programs list which are individual shortcuts (e.g. the shortcut to Internet Explorer) work just fine.

Did the issue occur recently, if is, you can try run system restore to the point when it work normal.
Start>type system restore in the search box>choose system restore and follow the wizard to restore your computer.
If not, please first run Microsoft safety scanner to see if it is infected by virus.

If it is not the issue, it is probably the issue that the related folders are hidden.
go to control panel>folder options>click view >check the box show hidden files.
go to c:\program data/microsoft/windows/start menu. if start menu folder is like clear. right click properties>general>uncheck hidden>ok.

Events disappear from calendar on iPad/iphone4s

Events on my iPad randomly disappear and also on iPhone. Is it an iCloud issue or a device issue? Can't figure out why things disappear.

OK Chris, my problem is this. I use my iPad calendar through google, so I can have it sync between my iPhone and my iPad. I am able to look back on the calendar of my iPhone since the I started using my iPhone BUT on my iPad, I can only look back one month. All of my appointments are gone, except for birthday and holidays. If i go to settings in my iPad, then MAIL, CONTACTS AND CALENDAR, I can't find where to tell it NOT to delete events. Maybe you could explain better how to NOT delete events. Thanks!

Printer disappearing after reboot

I have several Windows 2008R2 Citrix Xenapp 6.5 servers. I am trying to install a Midmark PDF printer. I can install it fine, but when I reboot the server, it just goes away. Does anybody have any ideas? I have been using the install package from
Midmark, but I also tied it manually, (it uses the Amyuni Doc Converter 400 and the null port.) I can manually add it, but again on reboot, the thing disappears out of Devices and Printers. Midmark doesn't have any suggestions. On ONE citrix server it actually
stays. I am not sure of the difference (if any) between the server where it stays and the others where it disappears on reboot. Anybody have any suggestions?

I assume Midmark PDF is tools to take print out in PDF format from Midmark application ,if so have you contacted midmark tech team ?
Could you please let us know if you have installed any other printer except Midmark PDF and what about your print spool service after restart.
If print services are running fine check event log related to that and share with us ,mean time you may uninstall Mid mark and try ABBYY PDF transformer+ ,By doing this you can come to conclusion if any compatibility problem have .This product
is easy to use and save time due to the some good features and way of doing. If you are using msoffice then I hope you will like the plugin features of ABBYY PDF transformer+(http://download.abbyy.com/pdft_plus/).

List is disappearing

Hi, I am in the process of trying to create a horizontal navigation bar, and I am using an unordered list. The code I am using is OK until I try to apply display:inline to the ul or the li. As soon as I do this, the whole thing disappears. If I try to add display:inline to one individual css rule like I've done for #navhome, it appears. If I then apply it to all rules, then it all disappears again!
Could somebody point out why, please?

Clipping mask making everything just disappear

I am trying to make a gear have that nice mettalic shine using the clipping mask, but everytime I make the command the whole thing just dissapears. I am using the pen tool to make 4 triangles with different shades of grey. I then group the triangles, put a radial blur on them and place them under the gear that I created. I select them all and do the clipping mask command, but instead of it being a gear with that radial shine, the whole thing disappears except for the outline of the triangle. HELP!!! I'M STUCK AND I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING (except the right thing)!!!

Usually when everything dispaears then what you intended to use for a clipping mask, is not what happened. Your top most object in the selection is used for the clipping mask.
I fill my clipping mask with a dummy color, to confirm I have my layering correct, the color goes away after the mask command. You can also clean up your document by putting only what you wnat to mask, along with the clipping mask on a new layer, then hit the round button after the layer name to select all in the layer, and mask.

ITunes app has disappeared. Can you help?

When I turned on my iMac iTunes icon on the desktop had a question mark on it. When I clicked on the icon the whole thing disappeared. I have looked everywhere and iTunes is no longer installed on my computer. I tried to download iTunes again but is says that my system requirements are not correct. Anyone got any ideas on how to get iTunes back without resetting my iMac which is now a few years old and have no idea where the disc is.

Itunes installs then disappears...

I DLed the latest ITunes, installed stand alone QT, then installed ITunes. All seems to go smooth, no error messages. An ITunes Icon appears on the desk top but when I hit "Finish" It disappears.( This actually happens about 5 seconds after the finish screen appears. I don't have to hit finish for everything to disappear). I brought up explorer and tried again. The same thing happens with the ITunes folder and stuff inside it. It shows up during the install, even the files in the folder. But when it finishes, every thing disappears.
I am the admin. I have had this computer for 3 years and everything I have ever installed worked(s) perfectly.I've ran "ewido", turned off anti-virus.

What do you mean by null port? Check the Printing Admin and Operational events. It sounds like something fails enumeration on spooler start up, typically you would see this with stop Print Spooler service, Start Print Spooler service.
It could be a driver component or the port that the printer is set to. Here's some pointers on enabling the events. 2008R2 uses the same evening mechanism as 2012.

Text/image boxes disappearing when printed to PDF [CS2, Win]

Strange things are happening today: Text boxes and image boxes, perfectly visible in InDesign -- are completely disappearing when printed to PDF.
The first time I printed, everything came out fine. Then after I moved some stuff around and reprinted, things disappeared.
Any insight would be much appreciated.
