Things to consider in preparing a WM questionnaire

Hi Experts,
We have got a project in WM.
Now as a begining we are planning to prepare a questionnaire. Since I have just started to learn WM dont have much idea in the WM questionnaire part.
Hence if anyone can provide all the valuable inputs & useful SAP links (such as what are things to be included or which are the areas to be covered etc in WM) for the same will be highly appreciated.
Does SAP provides any Sample questionnaire as such on WM??
Will the links such as help.sap or service.sap will solve my purpose.
Thanks & Regards,

Hi
I know that the following is cut and paste but it is a long time since I have used it.
I remember that there was a Q & A database in their which gave a list of questions that you asked the business and as you fed in the answers it produced some documents.
It is quite good as I remenber.
The ASAP solution was developed to ensure the successful, on-time delivery of a project. SAP delivers the AcceleratedSAP (ASAP) methodology for project management and system implementation.
Developed by SAP to optimize the success of implementing the SAP Business Suite, ASAP streamlines the implementation by providing templates, methods, tools, and accelerators that have been built on the success of thousands of previous SAP implementations.
Project quality is verified near the completion of each project phase. Using existing ASAP checklists, these quality checks ensure that all tasks for the phase have been completed properly, that all relevant documentation has been kept, and that all tasks required to commence the next phase of the project have been completed.
I hope that this helps

  • Things to consider when removing from AD domain a SQL Server 2008 which includes Reporting Services

Do any one have a link to a list of things to consider when removing from AD domain a SQL Server 2008 which includes Reporting Services, Analysis Services and Integration Services?
I am taking from an Active Directory domain several servers with SQL 2008 and Reporting Services, Analysis Services and Integration Services. The server will stay on its own without association to any domain, the server will keep its IP address and
the server will not change names.
I have done some research and I got the basic steps including, removing the user accounts from the domain, changing the services accounts, changing jobs and databases from being owned by users from the domain. But...
Are there other things in Reporting Services, Analysis Services and Integration Services internal databases that have an association with the domain AND that will fail after no longer being in the domain?
I've heard of Reporting Services subscriptions failing when the domain user account is no longer there...Are there any other got ya's that any one has encountered?
    Please advice.
Note: I am posting in this forum basically because of what I heard on Reporting Services, but it may be a better idea to post into a more broad forum such as SQL Server Migration section.
    Thanks beforehand

  • Things to consider before shutting down the Server

    Hi,
What are all the things to consider before shutting down the Essbase Server?
Just we need to close the applications and Agent process or do we need to take care any other things also.
    Thanks in Advance

In order to make sure of a soft shut down, I normally would
    - Disconnect all users
    - Prevent connections
    - Unlock all objects
    - Shut down all databases and applications
    - Shut down the Server Agent

  • Key things to consider upgrading RMS v9.0 to ORMS v13.0

    Hi All,
My client is currently using RMS v9.0 and are thinking about migrating to ORMS v13.0. We are trying to put together a deck with things to consider for migration. Does anyone have any experience with the migration? Any sort of input will help us.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh,
You are going to face a lot of challenges in that project!
I doubt you'll be able to get specific advice on what to look out for. You need to handle this like any other large software replacement / redevelopment project. Make sure you do not underplay the analysis that will be required as this is less of a 'migration' project and more of an implentation of a new system. There is no upgrade path from 9 to 13.
As mentioned above, there are wholesale differences in the data models, however I don’t think it’s worth performing an exhaustive data mapping exercise – that’s useful for data migration perhaps, but it's too low level to tell you what the differences are between the systems. You need to understand what has changed functionally and how this impacts on the business processes – this is where the greatest cost for the client will be.
Anyone still on v9 has probably had the software heavily customised and may have custom integration to non-Retek suite products. You'll have the additional challenge of very little Oracle Retail support / expertise so it may be tricky to identify what is base and what is a mod – hopefully in-house support is good?
On top of the functional / gap analysis you will need to give a decent amount of attention to the process change that will be introduced, this includes training requirements.
Ideally integration will need a complete overhaul, but to save time and money the client may expect you to 'make RMS v13 output data as per the current v9 solution' –this may be possible to a certain extent but you'll probably lose some of the new functionality and will borrow trouble for the future.
I've worked with a company that have started a very similar project countless times, only to panic at the scale of change involved and bury their head in the sand again.
Good luck and please keep us informed of your progress / challenges and so on! We can offer better advice if you have more info about the environment (Is other Retek software involved? Is this being replaced as well?)

    Dave

  • Things to consider while designing an interface

    Hi friends,
I've got an opportunity to design (functional design) the first outbound interface of my career. I'm little confused with the data mapping part of it with the legacy team. I want to follow a structured method to avoid missing out things and bother the legacy team again and again with silly question. Can anyone provide me a structured method and the important things that I should know and discuss with the legacy team?
I'm new to SDN and I'm not aware of all the protocols of the forum. Please excuse me if I've put accross a wrong question.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

    Hi,
When you working on design what kind of design??
Like have you got functional requirements from functional Team?? or you involving in gathering functional Requirement??
    Functional Design:
Nothing to do with your Interface design, try to understand the business requirement, and identify the source data and target data, and what system is going to be source and target.
then identify the is there any business data validations and data mapping between source and data, for this you have maintain one excel sheet for data mapping, define source and target structures and business logic involved in mapping.
in this phase you have to develop functional document, which gives the high-level business requirement and graphical representation of data flow between source and target system(MSVisio diagram).
    Technical Design:
Technical design will talk about how youu2019re going to achieve your functional requirement using PI.
First analyze the requirement, like source and target systems and which adapters will full fill your requirement to retrieve/send data to source/target systems.
Then identify which type of interface it is Synchronous or asynchronous.
Then you have to identify mapping logic, refer functional data mapping document and identify which mapping will be required(Message ,JAVA,XSLT and ABAP ),if your requirement can be achieved using message mapping then well and good.
Identify the best approach to implement your business requirement using SAP PI, prepare design document, if you donu2019t have much experience in SAP PI, then refer senior recourse about design, he will help you if anything needed to be changed in your design approach.
Now you are clear with requirement, mapping logic and ready with design.
Start development refer naming convention document before starting your requirement and follow the valid naming standards and complete your development and mean time complete technical specification document for your interface.

Adding to what others have said create an index and check execution plan whether it is being used by optimizer or not if it is used and query runs fast that index can be kept
You should also take help of DMV
sys.dm_index_usage_stats to see whether index is being utilized or not. refer to user seek user update and user scan col. If Update is very much greater that seek/scan index is probably not utilized , you can consider removing it

  • Buying a new mac pro, new things to consider?

    Hello all,
Below is the question I posted in may along with someone's response. I'm wondering if I should still go with the response I received considering the new release of the mac pro 12 core. Did anything change that I need to note in my purchase or is the below response suitable? THANKS!!!!!
    my question:
I need some help in choosing the right specs for my mac pro. I am looking for a computer that will help me in running my small business and keep my art portfolio organized. I'll probably be running several programs at a time (ex. mozilla, itunes, adobe bridge, dreamweaver, illustrator, and photoshop). More specifics below
What i'll be using it for:
    building a few websites
    managing my small business
    large photo file editing
keeping business files, artist receipts, etc
cataloging my art portfolio (large photo files)
storing photos, music, and short videos
    graphic design
    infrequent film editing
    infrequent sound editing
    what programs i'll be using:
CS5 (mostly photoshop, illustrator, bridge, dreamweaver)
    iphoto
    itunes
    maybe minimal finalcut/soundtrack pro
    maybe minimal aftereffects
    Advice?
My concerns are that it needs to run pretty smoothly with multiple programs open, no overheating, plenty of space for file storage and application support.
    Hello washleyill,
My advice would be to buy the standard configuration 2.66GHz Quad Core (i.e. 3 x 1GB RAM, 640GB hard drive) from the Apple store, with the exception of the graphics card which you can buy as a CTO option for $200.00. It is well worth the upgrade from the GT120 - I know, because I upgraded myself last November after using a GT120 for 4 months.
With regard to the memory, if you can afford it now, buy 4 x 4GB from OWC now. If not, I would suggest that you buy 2 x 4GB now, and then add another 2 x 4GB in the future. 16GB of RAM is a much better option than 8GB for your requirements. You can sell the 3 x 1GB RAM to OWC in "part exchange", and there would be little difference in price for 2 x 4GB to the CTO option of 4 x 2GB.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Mac-Pro-Memory#1066-memory
Instead of buying 2 x 1TB hard drives as a CTO option, you could purchase 2 x 1.5TB or 2 x 2TB HDDs for less money, and you would still have the 640GB. Spare drives are always useful. I use my original 640GB as a spare emergency system boot drive (OS and applications) in an external enclosure.
Another alternative is to wait a few more weeks, in case the rumours of the introduction of a new Mac Pro range in June have any foundation.
    Regards,
    Bill

Interesting questions you have posed here.
I am thinking about upgrading from my MB to a MBP and I too intend to run a similar set of programs, and with large RAW photo files in Aperture. I find my MB is struggling and I dont want to invest any money in upgrading it, I will use it as a back up. I like the MBP and the 13" screen version is so handy and portable.
Have you made your decision yet...or are you still sitting on the fence like myself..?

  • When Mail Comes Back Up - Things to Consider

I'm one of the people affected by the iCloud Mail outage.  On the other hand, I've been with Apple since 1984 and specifically has used dotMac, MobileMe and now iCloud.
Because of that long history, I long ago came to the conclusion never to reply on Apple's supplied email as either your only email account or else it if's mission-critical email--such as the main contact address for a business.
About 14 years ago I purchased a domain name (based on my family's surname) stictly for email use.  It's linked to a plain POP3 account from Network Solutions.  It's been completely reliable during that time.  My address associated with that domain name as always been my primary email address.  However, iCloud IMAP is nice.  When things are working, I've got my POP3 account set to automatically foward all mail to my iCloud account.  When iCloud is not working, I turn off forwarding--like I did yesterday.  My mistake yesterday was to wait too long to turn off the forwarding, thinking that iCloud email problems would be short-term.
I always send important email via my POP3 account so that the address associated with that account is the one that's in the outside world.  I also have a rule set up to sweep sent email from my POP3 account to my iCloud account so that those sent messages are available on all of my devices.
Yes, it costs a small amount to keep my domain name each year and it costs another small amount for the POP3 accounts for my wife and I.  But I do like iCloud syncing and do like the IMAP email that's always available on all of my Apple devices.  I think this setup works pretty well.  Every time I think about canceling my POP3 account, something like this happens.
Don't flame me.  There are many messages in the various threads in this forum describing situations where someone's iCloud mail is not working and that email account is critical for that person.  There are obviously other approaches, including canceling iCloud.  My approach is just one of many.

To be honest, a domain name and a full featured hosting account, with IMAP email typically can be had for under $200 (or even under $100, depending on the features you want or need) per year.
I have my own domains as well (use different ones for different purposes) and even owning multiple domain names my total hosting bill is about $153.00/year.  For that I can host multiple web sites, have up to 2000 IMAP mail inboxes each with a unique email address, get something like 200GB of mass storage (not sure actually what the limit is now, it keeps growing each year), have blacklisting and whitelisting on the emails.  And, I get 24/7 uptime and support - in the last 5 years, my email has only been down once, and that was for an announced scheduled downtime late at night.
If you need mission critical email, then get a service that fits the bill - it is cheap relative to what you've already spent in computer hardware and other costs of creating and running a business.  None of the free services, not one of them, promises anything about uptime, and all of them have terms of service that explicitly obsolve them of any responsibility for loss or damages due to downtimes.

  • Things to consider while copying a seeded package.procedure?

    Hi,
I was trying to do some customization as part of my project in PO_APPROVALLIST_S1.rebuild_approval_list. I copied the procedure and put it in my package after renaming it and done some code changes. The syntax errors were corrected and the package got compiled successfully.
But when I did testing in Requisition Approval -Forward Action where I customized, the workflow is erroring out in Exception. Retry also not working. It is again going to exception
Failed Activity: Update Approval List Response
    Activity Type: Function
    Error Name: -6512
    Error Message: ORA-06512: at line
    Error Stack : Wf_Engine_Util.Function_Call(PO_APPROVAL_LIST_WF1S.UPDATE_APP_LIST_RESP_SUCCESS, REQAPPRV, 23371461-562932, 968804, RUN)
How can i identify at which point it errs out? Is there any problem if we are using seeded procedures in custom packages?
Please help me to proceed further..
    thanks,
    Nish

Hi, since you've modified a package that is tied to the workflow, it would be a good idea to stop/restart workflows because original code is probably in memory and your modification are not considered but the state has changed.

  • Things to consider while merging two DBs?

    Dear gurus,
We have 2 instances, 1 is prod and other is replica of prod, just 4-5 hours behind prod,
used for queries just to reduce overhead on PROD,(the second instance is not a DSS/warehosuese/OLAP env it is just replica on instance 1) with some additional indexes,
now the management has decided to remove the second instance,
my question is : how do i proceed that the queries running on instance 2 should not create any problem when shifted to instance 1
    thanks

    user548749 wrote:
my question is : how do i proceed that the queries running on instance 2 should not create any problem when shifted to instance 1If an existing query on instance 2 uses an index which is not available on instance 1, there can be a hefty performance impact. Or instance 1 can already be quite busy and unable to handle the additional volume of queries from instance 2. Or the buffer cache on instance 1 may not allow the same level of caching enjoyed by queries on instance 2 (due to production processes that are absent from instance 2).
So there is no simple way to identify problematic queries that worked fine on instance 2 and would be a problem on instance 1. For starters, you will need to parse every single query on both and compare the resulting execution plans simply to determine if there will be a difference.
Also, as instance 1 contains more data than instance 2 (which lags some hours behind), execution plans can quite likely be different in some cases due to the volume of data.
This is not a simple exercise to undertake. There will be execution plan differences - and the difference may not be a bad thing due to the differences of instance 1 compared with instance 2.
What you can do is implement resource profiles on instance 1 for instance 2 queries - and that way attempt to control those queries resource utilisation and thus minimise their impact on instance 1.
Bottom line though - I see this as a lot of manual and hard work to make the replacement of instance 2 with instance 1 a transparent one to the end users that are using instance 2 for queries.

  • Lens shopping help, things to consider.

Because this is a new forum with very few members from the forums I belong to, and one with a lot of questions from people who appear to be fairly new to DSLR’s I thought I’d start a discussion on picking lenses & the flaws in a lot of the internet advice out there. There is a lot more to buying the right lens than just buying the one with the best Image Quality (IQ) when tested by one of the major review sites. Fixed focal length (primes) will almost always get the higher rating when compared to zooms, and in general the more expensive lenses will get the higher rankings. That’s all well & good but very few of us have the required skill set & technique to get even close to to the last few percent of IQ they can deliver while hand holding. If you’re strictly a tripod shooter, you may get close, but that’s not likely the case when shooting without it. Very high shutter speeds help, but you can’t rely on being able to use them for the majority of your shooting.
Relying on user reviews is helpful but that also has it’s flaws because many users don’t have good enough technique to properly evaluate their lens. Many only shoot in Auto or Program mode, and they don’t hold their camera / lens steady enough for the shutter speed the camera selects. Many don’t even know the proper way to hold a long lens, and the longer (more MM’s it covers) the more important it becomes to both hold it steady & use a higher shutter speed.
So what does this mean? I’m suggesting that far too many are trying to pick lenses that don’t fit the job at hand which is getting the shot. Zooms although lower in IQ are more versatile & offer a lot more opportunities than a sharper prime, but more importantly most of us, myself included, will be hard pressed to see that difference in our photos. That doesn’t mean you buy the cheapest version of a lens that has the range you’re shopping for, it means that you should buy the best you can afford and learn how to use it to it’s potential. Putting the purchase off until you can afford the very best in class will cost you a lot of missed photos, & some of those could have been your best work to date.
I’m sure there are other opinions on this & hopefully others will add their thoughts & experiences. I’ve gone through a lot of lenses over the last few years trying to find the very best for my needs, which aren’t mainstream, & I’ve settled on lenses many say aren’t worth buying. It’s a very good thing I didn’t give up & found out who to believe when reading user reviews at different sites.
"A skill is developed through constant practice with a passion to improve, not bought."

Image Stabalizers are a very desirable feature , especially for older people like myself. Each lens maker has a different name for it but the idea is the same BUT most consumer grade lenses don't have a setting that allows you to use it while panning (tracking a moving target. IS (AKA OS, VC or VR) is primarily designed to help reduce camera shake while hand holding & shooting a stationary subject. It should be turned off when using a tripod or panning unless it has a panning mode. If it isn't turned off you'll get soft (or slightly fuzzy) images that look a little out of focus. Imagine how many bad user reviews that switch has caused. If the lens does have a panning mode switch don't forget to set it to match your intended use. With Canon lenses Mode 1 is for stationary subjects & Mode 2 is the panning mode. If your lens only has an ON / OFF switch turn IS off to pan.

  • Update Exchange 2010 - Things to Consider?

I also like to run BPA and check the event logs and system resources before installing any Exchange updates. If the VM has been up for a while, give it a reboot first. I usually check the release notes too: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3049853

We haven't updated our exchange 2010 server in a long time.
In the Update queue is 'Update Rollup 10 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 3'
Anything to consider or watch out for before pulling the trigger?
It's running on Server 2012 standard as a VM.
    Thanks for all input!

  • Things to consider while making a class singleton?

sometimes i need to share the state of object across application.I get confused should i declare it singleton or declare state vaiables as static.
As per mythoughts, if intention is just to share the state of object across application i should go for static variables. Is this right?
My understanding about when we should go about singleton is below
We should declare the class as singleton when we need only one instance across jvm. But i am not unable to find any practical scenario
when we where we may need singleton . Any help here will be appreciated. Everywhere on different sites i get to see the example of logger
class where the reason is generally given as so that single log file is created not multiple log files.
But again this could have been achieved with declaring the file variable as static in logger file?
So actual reason is for declaring the logger as singleton is becuase we need the single log file with issues avoiding concurrent writing
which wont be possible if we make the separate instance of logger for each write..
Is the above reasoning correct so that i can proceed in right direction?

How will declaring its state as static accomplish that objective? With declaring variables as class variable instead of instance variables, there will be a single copy of each variable. In each instance (in this case logger if we dont declare it singleton) we can check if file is already created or not. I mean it will be visible across all instances.
No, because the file name isn't the only state. There is also the output stream/writer, its current position, its charset, the log level, the logger name, its filters, its formatters, ...Agreed. I just wanted to convey the point. As you said there will be other parameters,in that case we can declare all of them as static.
A configuration file holder is a good example: there is only one configuration file so there should only be one holder instance. Thanks for pointing it out. Configuration file is used mainly to read the properties. we usually dont update the values there. So even if we dont make it singleton it may be correct. The advantage i can think of making it singleton is that if configuration file is used frequently then we dont have create the object again and again.
So actual reason is for declaring the logger as singleton is becuase we need the single log file with issues avoiding concurrent writing
No it isn't, and that doesn't follow from anything you said previously so the 'so' part is meaningless.I want to say here is that t to have single log file should not be the only reason behind making the logger file as singleton, other reasons can be handling of concurrent writing too.
Have a look at the Wikipedia article on the Singleton pattern, or buy the booki have gone through the singleton pattern in headfirst book and some of the articles on net. But they mainly describe how the make the class as singleton and the reason that We should declare the class as singleton when we need only one instance. But looking for actual scenarios where we need singleton. So i took the examplle of logger file which is used in many project and trying to understand it is constructed as singleton so that i can use in my project if required.

  • Things to consider when moving from Motorola Dual G5 to Intel Core Duo G5

    OK dear forum readers,
I am planning on upgrading my PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0 to the Intel Core Duo platform. I have no idea where to start. So I am looking for suggestions/short list of what I need to do once I have both computers sitting next to each other. Do I need a cable? Do I need to buy additional software? Just as an FYI I do not backup to .Mac or anything. Though I do regularly do a PSyncX backup to an external hard-drive.
    Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Max
    Power MAC G5 Dual 2.0, 30" ACD, RADEON X8000XT card   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   I also have a IMAC G5

You can totally bring your Intel to its knees if you merge PPC code, files, caches and such over.
CoreDuo sounds like iMac (not Mac Pro) so you can't just pull the drive and plug it in. There are SATA cases with FW and SATA interface of course. If you are selling the G5, I'd keep the drive and keep my files. I'd use your backup drive and Migration Assistant .... very caustiously... and reinstall applications.
Cache folders, drivers, anything that goes into the top level Library and System/Library should not be reinstalled.
Not all programs that are PPC work under Rosetta.
MacIntouch and Macfixit have lists of what is compatible or is in UB native format.
