  • My iPhone 4 froze when I was using the Facebook app. The only thing moving is the indicator at the top spinning to show its "thinking." Its been like this for about an hour, I can't even turn it off. Any ideas (other than letting the battery go dead)?

Thank you, I've tried that but it won't work either, the logo never comes up. It just stays on the FB app screen. I tried connecting to iTunes to see if I can fix something from there and it freezes iTunes. Also tried disconnecting the wifi (I don't know how I thought that would help but worth a try) and plugging it into the charger but still nothing. I think I'll have to visit the store tomorrow. I appreciate it, though!

  • IPhone 4s Battery thinks it's dead when it isn't

I've had my iPhone 4s for almost a year and it's been great. Today it has shut off on me twice and told me that the battery was dead. When I plugged it in to charge it both times it turned back on right away and said it still had more than 3/4 of the battery left. The last time I updated it was whenever the iOs 6.01 came out, I believe a month or two ago and I had no problems then. Last week it could go 2 or 3 days before dying on me and then all of a sudden today it's freaking out. Anybody else had this happen or know how to make it stop happening?

First, try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and homebutton for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not work, try to set it up as new device:

If still no luck, get your battery checked by Apple, your battery has one year warranty:
    iPhone Owners
Your one-year warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery. You can extend your coverage to two years from the date of your iPhone purchase with the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone. During the plan’s coverage period, Apple will replace the battery if it drops below 50% of its original capacity. If it is out of warranty, Apple offers a battery replacement for $79, plus $6.95 shipping, subject to local tax. Apple disposes of your battery in an environmentally friendly manner

  • Refurbished tablet (4 mo old) battery is dead. HP tells me to buy a new tablet for $385. Help?

Took tablet to computer repair shop.  Was told internal battery is dead and needs to be sent back to HP for replacement.  HP says to buy new Tablet at $385.  I asked what it will cost for replacement battery and twice was told to purchase new tablet.
This tablet is a refurbished one sent to be by HP 4 mo ago after I sent back my original tablet that wasn't working.  A month after the 90 day warranty was up the battery went dead.  HP told me they were sending me a 'new' tablet and when I questined that they said 'refurbished.'  I asked for my money back and was told 'no.'  Now they expect me to purchase another tablet?  I don't think so.  So I'm out my original tablet and the replacement refurbished 4 mo old tablet isn't working and HP won't even offer any type of repair.  GREAT customer service!

    Hi,
I'm not working for HP or any vendor. All of them will be out of business if they replaced all machines out of warranty. Do you own/have any business ?
    Hope this makes sense.

  • New MacBook, battery alread dead?

    I have the following problems:
    1. The laptop dies if I disconnect the power cable, which indicates that the battery is dead (surprise because the laptop is 7 months old).
    2. The battery indicator on the top right corner has a cross, rather than a % indicating how much power is still left.
    3. The fan is always on.
    Otherwise, the laptop works well.
    Any views?

If you remove the battery and power cable then hold the power button down for at least 5 seconds, then replace the battery and power cable, reboot, and the fan still runs full blast cold, I would tend to think there is a hardware problem.

  • MacBook Battery seems dead

Got an Intel based MacBook (black) on 11/2006. Always worked very fine, no problem.
10 days ago, while working on the Windows XP side through BootCamp, the battery came to a sudden end. I shut down the computer and forgot about it since I've been traveling ever since.
2 days ago I got the magsafe charger connected, but the light would stick to green and no battery charge whatsoever happened. The Macbook works only when connected to the power source through the magsafe.
I tried all suggestions I could find on the Apple support blog. No success. I believe the battery is dead.
Still it looks quite strange: no warning came before the battery died. The Mac just suddenly quit working, after which I just closed the lid and left it alone for more than a week.
Any idea anybody? I'm convinced I gotta get a new battery. I have no Apple Care service, so think I'll have to buy one myself.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Just started having this problem with my girlfriends 1.5 yr old MacBook (purchased Jan 07). X in the menu, battery not recognized. Must be a dead battery because it works when I use the battery from my Macbook. Don't believe it when people tell you that apple will replace your battery for free. She was on the phone for about 1.5 hrs getting double talk from apple. Apple will not replace the battery for free but they will sell her one. Looks like they cost $129 from apple. Found a better deal for $89 at http://www.brilliantstore.com/applelaptop_batteries_dekcell_bl_5870_whitereplacement.html
Needless to say she is upset with apple and talking about going back to using a PC. Her 5 yr old Toshiba laptop still has a working battery. So much for apple products being superior.

  • Hi, my MacBook Air is not working anymore if it's not connected with the power cable. It's pretty new so I can't imagine that the battery is dead already. Why can't I use my MacBook Air without the power cable even though I charged it for hours?

Did you try to charge it using the adapter or your computer?
If you can, let it charge for about 15min, then connect in recovery mode, described in this article:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
If still not luck, your battery might have to be replaced:

  • My battery went dead and I had to plug it in. after several hours I went back to it and it is has an icon that is saying plug in and itunes.  It won't do anything else- nothing. I can't turn it off or or on and I have no access to my phone.

my battery went dead- I plugged in it.  several hours later I went back to it and it wasn't on. instead the only thing on the screen was a picture of the plug in and the icon itunes on top of it.  I have no idea what that means.  My phone will not turn on even after I hold both buttons. i was told a while back that the i7 program can mess this up and to hold both buttons down to reboot the phone.  I tried this but even this isn't working.  Any ideas?

My sister has the same ipod as me and has no problems charging hers on our computer. Please Help me!!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

i have a c6 phone and it has a major sickness not even key shortcuts can turn it on so can anybody tell me if i were able to take my battery out of my phone while charging will it die like it wont be able to work at all like its dead because i took my battery while charging? Cause i tried charging it for several hours but still it wont turn on and when i took it off from charging my phone wont vibrate whenever i turn it on. So does this mean my phone doesnt have a problem or is it just my battery being dead already so does that me do i need to change my battery? please help me nokia agents and nokia users please i really need urgent HELP. Thank YOU!

As a replacement battery is so cheap it is probably worth trying this before seeking service and at the very least you have a new spare, although I doubt that this is the underlying issue upon C6-00.

You may have to do this several times.
Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
