Think Pad 390 not charging batteries

My 390 is not charging batteries. I tried several known good batteries.
The power supply in the computer 'sings', I can hear it switching. Computer runs OK.
My power adaptor puts out 16 volts, is that correct?
Lowering the DC input voltage to 14 volts and I do not hear the 'singing".....

> The FRU listing for the RTC battery is RTC ASM: 02K 6522. The old battery was a standard CR 1220.
That's correct. See e.g. IBM Thinkpad RTC Battery - 02K6522.
You can buy this battery inexpensively from FocalPrice providing you're willing to wait a couple of weeks for it to arrive from Hong Kong.
A CR2022 (I think that should be CR2032 or CR2016) won't work because the dimensions are different. With CR coin batteries the number iijj means ii = diameter in mm and jj = thickness in mm/10, e.g. 1220 is 12mm dia and 2.0mm thick.

    - Try another cable.
    - Try another charging source

My I-Pad does not charge and does not turn on

My iPad two will not charge from my MacBook Pro, nor will it charge from an older iMac.  It will charge from my Mac Pro and other Mac's I've connected it to.  Tried various cables, different USB ports on MacBook Pro, and I still get "not charging" messing in top right, next to battery icon.  It's an Intel MBP, what's wrong?

  • Why is my i pad 2 not charging

why is my i pad 2 not charging?

You need to give details about what you are doing to charge it because without any info i would say something like 'because it is not plugged in' because I have no clue of the situation.
So what is it plugged to? Computer? Wall? Car? With the original/official charger or a cheap copy? How do you see it's not charging? Is it just off or do you see a not charging sign?

  • HT4060 My original I pad is not charging, there is a not charging sign by top battery indicator, what could be the problem?

Why my original I pad has a sign ... Not charging?

Since it's an iPad 1, the battery may not take a charge anymore.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.

  • I pad will not charge

I have had my I pad for a couple of months now and it will no longer charge. I have read a couple of reviews. I have tried charging it with the wall unit charger it came with, I have tried to sync it with my nearly brand new Mac Book Pro, and several different electrical outlets, etc. Sometimes I can get it to say "Not Charging" and I guess it will charge in sleep mode that way, but i can barely get it to say that, only if I power the whole unit off, and then plug it in, then it says not charging. Any ideas out there??

my Ipad is not charging, it started after the battery died while i was playing a game, when i tried charging its only flashing the apple icon and it switches off again, help PLIIZ

    Not charging
    1. Reset iPad
    2. Try another wall socket
    3. Try another cable (make sure it's an original Apple cable)
    4. Try another charger (make sure it's an original Apple charger)
    5. Clean Lightning port with compress air or new paint brush

  • HT4060 hy i pad is not charging

new ipad will not charge using provided wall adapter are others having problems brand new 32g

Have you tried a reset to see if it charges after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • PB G4 17" 1.33 - will not charge batteries

I have a client with the machine in the subject. He has 2 different batteries, neither will charge with his machine suddenly. Also tried 2 different power adaptors. Tried all Apple troubleshooting, all steps mentioned on this forum as well as elsewhere.
The best I got was a single LED flashing a few times on one of the batteries last time I put it in the machine.
This occured right after he sold the machine to someone. REALLY bad timing for him.
I think Apple needs to be aware of these problems, and all who have come up against this situation need to voice their experience.
If anyone has any NEW suggestions on resolution, please make them known.

    Hi Folks,
I read several issues regarding "Batteries", "Charger
Issues” and "Won't Start" posts. But, I did not find
    anything specific to my problem.
I can plug the adapter into my daughter’s iBook and
it works. If I plug it into the PB 17", "no light" -
green or amber. If I remove the battery... same
thing. I reseated the Ram. Nothing happens. I would
run a Hardware test, but there is no power to test
it. I let the internal battery charge overnight. No
    response. I am very perplexed.
    Any suggestions?
No really, does anyone have a clue about this??

  • My i pad is not charging when i connect to the computer

how can i use whatsapp to my i pad???????

Your iPad is not designed to charge using a USB port on a computer.  It will trickle charge, but that's about it.  To charge an iPad use the 10w or with iPad Air 12w wall charger that came with your iPad.

  • Laptop not charging batteries NC6400

I received this laptop as a Christmas gift this past christmas. I was made aware that it was refurbished.
When I frist charged it Inoticed the battery only charged f\or about 1 hour, before the battery light went out, signaling that the battery was completely charged.
When I turned my laptop on, it would only stay on for about 1 hour. Then it would need to be charged again. I figrued it was because the battery was only charged for 1 hour, before being turned on, as opposed to the 8-12 hours that are recommended. So I bought a new battery. Again the same issue.  The initial charge only lasts 1 hour. I read somewhere that sometimes laptops don't recognize certain batteries, so they stop charging after a few minutes. So you have to take the battery out, then put it back in to continue charging it.
I bought a 3rd battery & again it stopped charging after 1 hour. So I took it out then put it back in. the charge light didn't come back on.
So I assume now it's not a battery issue, but more of a laptop issue.
I was in a chat with someone and they more or less said that I can have someone look at it for $89. Which I am not going to do.
So any help would be greatly appreciated. (btw the 3rd battery has not been put to use yet. I haven't done anything but charge it.)

    Hi:
The battery life varies depending on what you are doing. If you get 45 minutes to 1.5 hours out of it, then you are in the normal range, IMO.
I was never happy with the battery life in my nc6400.
I really like the PC otherwise. There were two things I thought were lacking...battery life and a firewire port.
The 6930p's battery life is somewhat better, but no where near what they advertise it to be.
You can try it. If the battery is no longer charging at all, calibrating it won't help.
There could also be an issue with the charger.
If there is an issue with the motherboard, it probably came about during your possession, since you stated the batteries used to charge for an hour or so.
As I stated above, never, ever has my nc6400 ever charged for more than an hour and a half, and never has the battery lasted for more than a continuous hour + or - of use.
And that is surfing the web and reading e-mails, etc. Not watching DVD's or streaming videos. Then you are definitely looking at the 45 minute range.
    Paul

Yes, there are many. First place to look is in power manager where you can make a custom profile that puts the unit in low-power mode when on battery power. You can adjust many things such as the power the cpu uses, brightness of screen, timers to shut down screen and harddrive, etc...    additionally there are many options in bios to disable features. If you aren't using something, then disable it, such as your optical drive. If you don't want it disabled for more then a brief period of time then you can simply remove it. Also things like bluetooth, wwan, wifi and wireless usb can be disabled (soft) by using the onscreen display (fn+f5) or (hard) by going into bios>security>I/O ports, and disable them so they don't get powered on at all. If you have a Penryn class processor (and proper penryn board), T8100, 8300, 9300, 9500, they can go into ultralow power mode where they virtually shut off when not needed. With the older merom CPUs I believe there are 3rd party tools that can help to throttle them down when not needed, but not to the same extent as a penryn. Besides conserving power, this can also reduce heat.
However, if your wanting a laptop to use for extended periods of time on battery power, then a Tseries wouldn't be my choice, they are a performance laptop, something powered by a lesser chip like the Intel Atom would draw much less power, but you might not be happy with the performance. If on the otherhand, you're just trying to maximise your battery time for the seldom times you need to run on battery, then you should find some of this very useful, and I'm sure others will "chime in" with more tips and pointers to help you.
    Hope this helps.
ps. There is also an additional ultrabay battery you can get, but they are poorly designed by most reports. Not only do they have a low charge capacity, but they become the primary battery when installed and get all the wear n tear so don't last long and they are very expensive.

  • A way to Fix the ''not Charging Batteries''

I had this problem for over a week .... I wanted to smash my computer but I searched and searched and nothing that solved my problem, but I saw something about a bug where putting your computer on hibernation can cause a bug that makes the computer to not be able to recognize batteries, then I remember that before my problem came I put my laptop on Hibernation ...
So what I did to fix this problem was:
    1 Unplug your battery
2 Start your computer with only AC power
3 Put your computer on Hibernation
4 Wait until is on Hibernation and Close the lid
    5 Put the battery on
6 If the charging led is not blinking after a minute then is working, just turn on your computer to get out Hibernation
    7 ???

    Sorry for the bad English
Hope this might help for some people
Please bump this if it worked for you

thanks, but as soon as i unplug the ac adapter, the batter drains in less than two minutes.  this is my third battery and second ac adapter.
