Think password was stolen while purchasing an app on my iPad.

Yesterday I downloaded a drawing app onto my iPad. Shortly thereafter, I got an email stating that my billing and shopping info had been updated. I thought it was odd but dismissed it since I had noticed my billing and shipping info was still my previous address, thinking I might have updated something there while confirming the purchase of the app.
Today I found fraudulent charges to the account I used to purchase the app.  It was over $500 to six flags amusement park.
I immediately reported the card stolen, and then changed my apple Id password.
However, on viewing my shipping and billing info, it appeared as if nothing was changed.
Any thoughts or similar reports from anyone else?
Is it safe to purchase the apps?

same thing happened to me yesterday.  i have not seen any charges yet to my bank account but am considering on cancelling the card

    It does not.  Only Apple knows as to why they chose not to implement such a feature.

    It is easy to remove the passcode, but it requires the user to restore the device to factory settings in iTunes, which would in turn remove all data from the device. It's actually quite difficult to get at data stored on an iPod with the passcode enabled.  You would need to be pretty knowledgeable with the device and how they work in order to obtain any of the data.

    The only thing you can really do is change any and all passwords to accounts you may have used or set up on the device for security reasons.  Other than that, I'm afraid you are out of luck.

    Do you guys even read the "Terms and Conditions" ? There are thousands of words. who know what term I am violating. It works fine before 12/01/2012...I bet they don't even know what caused this problem...They keep asking me to read it without solving the problem...

    You can't reverse the erase.
    Restore from your iTune or iCloud backup.

    Did you download that game, or could somebody else have downloaded it or synced it to your iPad ? And the id that shows in Settings > iTunes & App Store is your id - if not then tap on it to log out of it and then log back in

    Allan was somewhat incomplete in his statement. While technically it would be possible, from a licensing standpoint you need one license for each iPad unless those iPads were all going to be used by the same person (which I think unlikely given your described use). Here are the relevant terms of the iTunes Store agreement (emphasis mine):
    "(ii) If you are a commercial enterprise or educational institution, you may download and sync an App Store Product for use by either (a) a single individual on one or more iOS Devices used by that individual that you own or control or (b) multiple individuals, on a single shared iOS Device you own or control. For example, a single employee may use an App Store Product on both the employee's iPhone and iPad, or multiple students may serially use an App Store Product on a single iPad located at a resource center or library. For the sake of clarity, each iOS Device used serially by multiple users requires a separate license."
    So you would legally need to purchase one copy of the app for each iPad, something which would require an iTunes Store account for each iPad. For normal purchases, each iTunes Store account would need an associated credit card or prepaid iTunes card.
    The Volume Purchase Plan works similarly - you still need one license and one iTunes Store account for each iPad - but the purchasing is centralized so you don't get billed multiple times. You get one recemption code for each license you purchase. See:

    I can't find it at the iTunes app store. If you downloaded the app directly from the app developer's site, you need to contact them.
