  • HP DV6748us - Factory restore problem

I upgraded (?) from Vista to Win7.  Have had nothing but problems, and thought I would run a factory restore.  I tried to use the 3 discs that I had copied my HP discs to, but that wouldn't work at all, so used the HP discs I had ordered.  All was going fine until approx. 10% through reformat and reload, and it stopped with an error message (which I stupidly did not write down - sorry) and now I cannot get it to boot to the restore discs at all.  It will only go to F10, which doesn't help.  However, I did get it to F2, I think, and ran the HD testing, which was all fine.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

bro i also experienced the same problem with this.
on trying to factory restore my t400 windows vista 64bit, i get this message>>>

  • Apple TV 1st gen Factory Restore Problems

I have an Apple TV 1st generation that I tried to do a factory restore on.  I did not unplug durring the progress bar.  It then started up with the apple, then the opening video with all the tv screens.  It asked me for the language, I selected English, then had me choose the correct internet connection so I typed in the password for our Wi-Fi, then it came up with the code to connect to our home computer and started flashing a new code every 2 seconds.  I unplugged the Apple TV and waited about a minute then plugged back in.  It again had the normal start up, but then after the opening video it began flashing between a screen with the apple then a blank black screen then to a menu screen and cycling through each screen about every 1-2 seconds.  I unplugged again and waited about 10 minutes but then had the same results.  Is there anyway I can do another system restore as I cant get it to stop flashing.

I FIXED IT!!!  So here is how to fix your Apple TV 1st generation if you are having the problems listed above.  I am listing it step by step as I have not found the solution to my problem ANYWHERE and I have been looking all day and figured it out myself.  Here we go:
If you have done a FACTORY RESTORE and it is now flashing different through different screens I recomend doing a FORCED RESTART from the totally awesome guys at MethodShop, here is the link: http://methodshop.com/gadgets/tutorials/appletv-fix/
If their instructions do not fix your problem here is what I figured out (assuming the diagonstic test says that your Apple TV is working correctly).
Keep your Apple TV plugged in, and allow it to go to sleep.  It can take up to 45 minutes.  Once it has gone to sleep (the screen will have photos scrolling on the TV) press the MENU button on the remote to wake it up.  The Apple TV will wake up on the MENU screen.  Scroll down to SETTINGS then select SYSTEM UPDATE.  Follow all instructions to update the system to the current update.
WARNING: If you take too long once you have woken up the Apple TV it will start freaking out again and you will have to let it go to sleep again.
I have tried this twice now to make sure the first time was not a fluke and its working perfect now.
    Hope this helps someone else!

  • Think Vantage Access Connections - problem

I have a ThinkPad X61 Tablet, which I bought in 2009 with Windows XP. Lately, i.e., last 15 days, whenever I try to use the Think Vantage Access Connections to access my wireless connections the window of the program opens up but I see only the upper part/line. I cannot restore it to full size or any size at all and the only action I am allowed to do is close it. Any ideas how to fix it?

    hey dxirouch,
i would suggest uninstalling the software, then go to http://support.lenovo.com ; download the latest version and reinstall.

  • Think vantage system update problem

I just installed the think vantage toolbox and the think vantage system update on my Z560, Windows 7 laptop......  but when i run the system update for lenovo updates, it gets to only  16% complete and  then tells me "there are no applicable packages found for your system".   My computer was purchased in January 2011 and I know from looking at the driver download page that there are all kinds of updates for my machine released in February 2011 which I  haven't downloaded yet.  So what should I do to get the system update working properly?????  I had thought that the system update tool was a godsend, because I am computer shy and somewhat afraid of completely messing up my machine by doing the wrong thing. So, I'd really like to get it working.
And, if I can't do that, does it hurt to download any potentially relevant driver update (those noted as being for Z560s, that is)????   Thanks for any advice.

  • T60p factory restore problems

When I try to factory restore a message saying "The Product Recovery function has been removed from the system" Is there any way to fix it?

When updating or restoring some iPods (but not the iPod Classic) via a usb connection, it needs to be plugged into power via the charger to complete the process, and this is why you see this icon displayed.
It's also why older iPods that required this step were supplied with a power adaptor as standard.
Try resetting it whilst it's plugged into the adaptor.
    See this.

  • DV6-3122us/ after and during Factory restore problems

This is a DV6-3122us 64 bit notebook, 500GB hard drive, 4 GB ram, Windows 7 Home Premium OS. I restored it from the Factory purchased recovery discs, and I had a problem with that, had to do it 3 times kept locking up at 9% on the restore part. It finally went through then said couldn't install, turned it off, and it was installed. This is Windows 7 Home Premium. Now I have lock ups when updating. The HP assistant  loads but says it has errors at the very top, and doesn't show the system information at the bottom. The hard drive only shows 80 GB allocated, and 397 unallocated. This is all the original hardware, which has been tested and has passed, memory has passed. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Right click on the partition ( C:\ ) you want to Extend into the now unallocated partition and click on Extend Volume.
    2. Click on Next for the Welcome to the Extend Volume Wizard window
    3. Select the amount of space in MB you want to use from the unallocated partition to use to Extend this partition
    4. Select all of the available space .
    5. Click on Next.
    6. Click on Finish in the Completing Extend window
You will now see the Disk Management console with the new extended partition volume ready to be used.
    7. Close Computer Management.

  • How to restore an Apple TV first generation if it does not factory restore in recovery mode?

The other day, while watching a movie, my Apple TV 1st gen just froze and became unresponsive to any remote control inputs. My intital attempts to just remove power and startup again failed and resulted in repeated crashes and renewed startups. On the discussions here ( Re: Apple TV 1st gen Factory Restore Problems ) I found out how to force restart by holding down the 'menu' key and the ' - ' key simultaneously. This brought me to the Recovery Menu.
Restart from there didn't work, only resulted in coming back to the recovery menu.
Diagnostics showed my Apple TV to be working normally.
Factory Restore immediately brought up a failure message that factory restore was not possible!
I tried this several times but always the same result. My trusted Apple TV first generation had mysteriously turned itself into a brick.
After searching the web and trying all kinds of things, I figured out how to save it. Here's how:
for reference, have a look at this webpage, but keep reading below: http://www.tweaking4all.com/home-theatre/appletv/restore-appletv-os-after-erasin g-disk/
you need a good size USB stick, mine was 4GB
the first method described didn't work for me, is time consuming, and you need an ethernet internet connection
however the second method described (no network needed) worked, but not with the file posted on the website (had wrong size)
download the disk image with the Apple OS from here: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=Restoring_the_Apple_OS
I downloaded the Apple OS v3.0.2 file, this proved to be working
If you're on a Mac, download and install the ApplePi-Baker application from here: http://www.tweaking4all.com/hardware/raspberry-pi/macosx-apple-pi-baker/
If you're not on a Mac, follow the instructions in the thread posted in 1.
Using the ApplePi-Baker, or the other methods, restore the disk image to the USB stick; be patient, this may take a while
Unpower your Apple TV, plug in the USB stick, power up your Apple TV
Your Apple TV will now boot up from the USB stick and will install the latest OS on its harddrive
When completed, remove power, remove USB stick, power up and hold down the 'menu' and ' - ' keys simulatenously, this will bring your Apple TV into Recovery mode
    Select Factory Restore
Your Apple TV will now factory restore to OS v 3.0.2
Note: This worked for me right away, but if not you may want to try the earlier OS version, see notes on the OpenElec Wiki page.
Good luck, and keep enjoying your Apple TV first gen!

Based on your suggestions, I've posted an additional article on how to do this ...
    http://www.tweaking4all.com/home-theatre/appletv/restore-appletv-os-offline-1stg en/
Also note that I fixed the issue with the corrupted IMG files .... the files on Tweaking4All.com now work as they are supposed to.
    Thanks again James!

  • Think Centre M92z factory restore discs

Just purchased my first Lenovo product. Question is: Although the C: backup partition appears to contains the factory restore data, can I simply restore to factory, if needed, from these files or do I need to create backup media (discs) from this partition discs as a source and use those instead. Clealry, in the event of a total failure of the backup partition on the C: drive, it would be a safer bet to be able to boot from and use discs to to restore, but, being optimistic,  is there a path to restore to factory settings just by direct use of the backup partition data?
If so, how would I trigger such a process?
    Thanks
    Dave

The OEM hard disk was 640 GB (5400 RPM).
Yes, If you replace the 320 GB hard disk with a new 640 GB hard disk it should work.

  • Help! Z61t - restore to factory setting problem

I tried to restore my Z61t to factory setting.
I did it from the thinkvantage > rescue & recovery > restore to factory setting
after that the laptop restarted by it shelf.
when it started, It asked me  to put in the Recovery suplemental CD.
I put in my CD recovery which was I created my chelf after I bought this laptop two years ago.
    but, it said 'wrong CD'.
so, click cancel. and the laptop restarted by it shelf again.
and keep asking me to put in the CD Recovery.
Should I buy this CD recovery from IBM?
and I am still wondering, if after I buy the CD. the restoring still not working.
anyone can help or give me advice for this matter?
    many thanks!

    @ denny_chr,
If you are booting using the blue Access IBM / ThinkVantage button you need to select to restore your system and then select factory restore. Do not select to restore from an image, the disc you created will not work.
    Using Discs
Hopefully you created more than one disc; you should have created at least two, maybe three? Boot from the first disc, when it asks for the supplemental disc you need to click on "no", (otherwise you will get the wrong disc message), it will then ask for the first recovery disc; this is when you need to insert the second disc you made.
    Hope this helps

  • X61s - Rescue & Restore - There is no Factory Restore option

I have an X61s with Vista Home Basic, and I want to use ThinkVantage to do a Factory System Restore.
I can boot into the Rescue & Restore utility (via the ThinkVantage button or F11), this is  just fine.
The problem is :   There is no "Factory Restore" option. I'm only given the option to restore from backup.
Any ideas? The fact that I can access the R&R utility but not get that "Factory Restore" option.

    kamszelei, welcome to the forum,
    from a lurker
which version of Think Vantage System Upate do you have installed?
If you have version 3.13.0009 installed please try the following; boot into Windows and run TVSU.  It'll update itself, restart, then update itself again. Hopefully the option to recover to factory content will then be available to you.
Please also check the following registry key; HKLM\Software\Lenovo\TVT Common
If the "System Type" key is 1, change it to 0. If it is already set to 0 don't change anything and let us know.
    Hope this helps

  • How to do a factory restore on iPad?

    Hello,
I have the old 1st gen iPad with 3G and a 64gb hard drive, and have had it for 4-5 years. My problem is, after a crash I was asked to do a reset. I did, and now the iPad will not turn on. The apple logo comes onto the screen and it will stay like that until the iPads battery has died.
I was thinking that a factory restore could fix the problem but I get an error when I plug my iPad into the laptop. "iTunes could not connect to this iPad. An unknown error occurred. (0xE8000012)."
I was thinking that when my iPad crashed, a file may have corrupted. But my question is, how can I fix this problem or at least how can I do a factory restore?
I will be very grateful for any feedback regarding the subject but in all honesty, I do not really care if it does not get fixed. It is an iPad 1st gen, I am just
bothered about the £729 I spent on the device (I bought the case with it).
Feel free to ask for any information I may have missed out.

    Take a look at this.

  • Factory restore error message - "Product Restore %s failed to restore your system"

While doing a factory restore I am getting the error message - "Product Restore %s failed to restore your system".
Not sure what it means ... I am on a Lenovo 3000 N100. I've been having not so much battery won't charge as battery won't stay charged problems.
When starting up with the battery in ... the battery seems to bedrawing so much from the adapter the N100 shuts down.
While shutdown the battery seems to draw from the cmos battery.
When I power up again the cmos battery is drained ... the bios clock has to be reset.
A few times like this and I took the battery out and just ran on the adapter.
Taking the battery out didn't stop the n100 from timing out(read turning off). What did stop it
is going into the memory panel when its off and power is diconnected and shorting the Cmos battery.
Then when powered up it goes straight into loading the recovery package and actually
gets to the point where it is ready to format the disk before it gives me the message - "Product Restore % failed to restore your system".
Last night I actually got it to factory restore ... but then like a complete idiot I put the battery
back in thinking the restoration would have resolved the charging problem ... it didn't.
I know ... I know ... I'm a couple of months too late for a new battery ... but if anybodies got any ideas
how to get around this ""Product Restore %s failed to restore your system"" so I can get back
    to windows I'd appreciate it.

I've had a similar problem when attempting a restore to factory settings on my Lenovo 3000 N200, running Windows XP.  I resolved it by leaving the battery plugged in, but by disconnecting the AC power adapter. Then when the restore was up and running I then plugged in the adapter so the laptop wouldn't run out of power before completing the restore.
