ThinkCentre USFF M57P 9071-A8U: I Want to Upgrade The Graphic Video Card

Hello guys. I currently own an IBM Lenovo ThinkCentre M57p 9071A8U ultra small factor form. I already upgrade the CPU bios to 2RKT64BUS (01/08/14), an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz Quad-Core, 4GB PC2-6400 memory ram and Windows 8.1. The integrated Intel Q35 Express video Chipset is great but I want to upgrade it. The system comes with a PCI-Express slot and a PCI slot riser on it. I actually changed the riser to a PCI/ADD2-R Riser V3.1 Adapter Card PCI-E:
Link to image 1
I had to do some adaptations to make this riser fit, but the system accepted the riser and all drivers were properly installed. This riser allows to install a PCIE x1 card. I bought a Lenovo 41T2725 ATI X1600 Pro 256MB Video Graphics Card (GV-RX16PIU-RH LVK-X1600):
Link to image 2
ATI does not support Windows 8 for this graphic card but I used Windows 7 64 bit drivers and software for this. I connect my monitor to the X1600 VGA port. The problem is that the computer boots until the Windows 8 logging screen and after that the screen gets black only showing the mouse cursor. At that particular point, if I unplug my monitor from the X1600 VGA port and plug it to the M57P VGA port, I can see and use Windows normally. But if I leave the computer plugged to the M57P VGA port, I would not see the ThinkCentre bios screen nor the Windows 8 logging screen. The screen is black until the Windows operating system screen. The Intel Q35 integrated video does the opposite of the X1600. This very confusing. I have tried playing with the bios video section but nothing has changed.
I really would like to upgrade my video card on my system. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanking you in advance,

I noticed that there is an ATI Video BIOS Flash Utility for ATI Radeon X1600 Pro graphics adapters which will upate ATI Radeon X1600 graphics adapters to video BIOS S3A67621.109. :

This is for Windows XP (32-bit) only. I am using Windows 8.1. Would by any chance be an ATI video Bios flash for this X1600 Pro card for a 64 bit operating system??

The reason for it is because I want to use final cut x on it, is it possible to upgrade and what card should I upgrade to?

The Apple version of the 5x70 cards should work.

  • I want to upgrade my graphics card, what's the restrictions?

Hello. My MacBook description is 13" Late 2011. I want to upgrade the graphics card. It's currently Intel HD 3000. I want to play games like Guild Wars and Sims City once my finals are over. So probably nVidia something?
However, is there a restriction? Can the MacBook support it?
Also what is the price we're talking about. I called a repair centre a few minutes ago, and they said 1300 SGD! A little obscene! Is it really that price range?

    only practical way for you:

i have a mac mini mid 2011, this device have; 2,3GHz and 2 Gb Memmory.I want to upgrade the memory and i need the list of supported memory modules. i am from turkey.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The Mid 2011 Mac mini supports 8 GB of memory officially, but you can install up to 16 GB of RAM, so you can use 2, 4 and 8 GB modules. You can buy more RAM from OWC or Crucial.
If you are looking for memory at a local shop, make sure you buy 1333 MHz DDR3 memory. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4432?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

  • I want to upgrade the HDD on Satellite L10

    HI
I am new to the forum, I purchased a satellite l10 two years ago and was looking at upgrading my hard drive, looking at toshiba accessories It recommends I purchase an external hd, but this just means extra items to carry, can anyone advise or help me

    Hi
Of course you can upgrade the HDD.
If you want to upgrade the HDD you have buy one which is compatible and supported by BIOS.
Not every HDD size is supported by BIOS. There is a limitation and bigger HDDs could be not recognized.
The Sat L10 supports an enhanced IDE (ATA-6) interface and some units were delivered with the 40GB HDD.
I think a 60GB HDD should be compatible. Maybe also a 80GB HDD but Im not 100% sure about this HDD size.
If you want you can test it.

I am on an iMac6,1 and on OS 10.5.8 and I want to upgrade the OS. Can I load Lion on my machine, and how do I go about doing it.. I have everything backed up.

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
OS 10.6 Snow Leopard is once again available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

  • I want to upgrade the 500gb HDD to an SSD on an S230u with windows 8 but want clone the drive

I want to upgrade the 500gb HDD to an SSD on an Thinkpad Twist S230u with windows 8 but don't want to lose the data and programs installed on the drive and have to start over. I tried to clone it but no software could do it. I tried acronis and EasyToDo. I was able to clone it with a duplicator but it wasn't bootable. Am I to assume that what I need to do is the following - 1- Create the recovery media on a 32gb usb stick. 2- back up the drive using Acronis (or other) 3- Physically replace the drive 4- boot to the USB Recovery Media and bring the system back to it's original state out of the box but with the SSD Drive. 5- Use Acronis (or other) to restore back up made of the 500gb prior to removal. Thanks in advance! Scott Fischer

Before you start cloning your HDD with acronis, you have to prepare the SSD:
at first: connect your SSD with USB to your notebook and
     1. Start CMD.EXE as Admin
     2. type: "diskpart"
     3. type: "select disk x " x = Letter of your SSD
     4.  type: "list partition" the drive should be unformatted
     5.  type: "create partition primary align=1024"
     6. type: "active"
     7. type: "format fs=ntfs" --> wait some minutes
     8. type: "assign letter=x" --> For example "x"
     9. type: "exit"
Start acronis true image 2013 (trial version)
    select "Backup" without empty sectors
you can select any partitions, so also the the invisible lenovo backup paritions
The Backup can be "Restore"-d to the SSD, incl.  GPT (MBR like in UEFI Systems)
After all, the SSD is ready to use. Booting on USB gives here a blue screen. I tought it was my fault. It isnt. You can build in the SSD into your SATA Port and Windows 8 will boot very well.
    Sorry for my bad english

I have a rather old iMac 20" (mid 2007) and I want to upgrade the Hard drive. How do I change it? How do I transfer all my applications? May I just copy the old hd into the new one? Thanks.

There are many online tutorials on how to change out the HD on a mid 2007 iMac. One of the originals is from 2007 and is Upgrade your iMac 20" or iMac 24" aluminum (mid 2007) to 1TB Hard Drive and 4 GB RAM - DIY Guide. As far as migrating your system Apple helps out with that in Setup Assistant which automatically starts when you turn on a new Mac for the first time. After you have installed the new HD you will have to format the new HD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then you will have to install OS X. The first time you turn it on Setup Assistant will start. Follow the directions and you will be fine. In order to restore your information you will need to backup what is on the current internal HD first. I'd recommend using Time Machine (Assuming you are using Leopard or later) AND also creating a bootable clone using either SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner.
Please complete your profile so at the very least we know what version of OS X your machine has installed.

  • I have a 15' Macbook Pro, mid 2010 running Mavericks. I want to upgrade the hardware by increasing the RAM to 8GB and replacing the HD for a SDD one. What would be the best way to install mavericks on the new HD? I have the original OS X CD.

I have a 15' Macbook Pro, mid 2010 running Mavericks. I want to upgrade the hardware by increasing the RAM to 8GB and replacing the HD for a SDD one. What would be the best way to install mavericks on the new HD? I have the original OS X CD.
From what I read, I have 2 choices: 1. to install OSX and then upgrade to Mavericks, but I'm not sure if this would be possible (to upgrade directly from OSX to Mavericks); and 2. to use a software called Super Duper.
I wouldn't like to have to use a third party software to do this, so the question is: is there a better way to install directly the Mavericks not having to use a third party software?

Install the new drive in the computer.
Install the old drive in an external USB or Firewire enclosure.
Boot the computer from the Recovery HD on the external drive.
Use Disk Utility to partition and format the new internal drive.
Clone your external drive to the internal drive.
How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop
Step One: Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Step Two: Remove the old drive and install the new drive.  Place the old drive in an external USB enclosure.  You can buy one at OWC who is also a good vendor for drives.
Step Three: Boot from the Recovery HD on the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the Recovery HD then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Step Four: New Hard Drive Preparation
      1. Open Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of
the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive
is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  Otherwise, click on the
Partition tab in the DU main window.
      3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from
the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended
(Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to
GUID  then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and
wait until the process has completed.
      4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the
drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main
          window.
      5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the
Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to
          return to the Erase window.
      6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several
hours depending upon the drive size.
Step Five: Clone the old drive to the new drive
      1. Using Disk Utility still opened.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
      5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Destination entry field.
      6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Source entry field.
      7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.
Step Six: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the new internal volume.  Click on the Restart button.  You should boot from the new drive.  Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.

Yes. Your G4 shouldn't have any difficulty connecting to a Wi-Fi network provided by the latest 802.11ac AirPorts as they support the earlier radio modes that the G4 uses.

CME is part of the IOS, so you can't upgrade the IOS seperately from CME.
That said, if this is a production environment you should proceed with caution and be prepared to roll back as you may find bugs, etc.
You should also look at release notes and make sure your phone firmware will still work or needs to be upgraded too.

    Determination of Prerequisites
    Purpose
As parallel maintenance has been deactivated, you have to implement various measures, depending on how your system has been configured, when you upgrade to release SAP ECC 5.00, Financial Services (EA-FS500). These measures affect release levels SAP ECC 5.0 and SAP ECC 6.0.
    Process Flow
Use the graphic and the subsequent documentation to check which activities are required in your system due to the deactivation of parallel maintenance. The process represented in the graphic is explained in greater detail in the following sections:
           1.      Check whether you use the Real Estate (RE-Classic) solution.
¡        If you do not use the Real Estate (RE-Classic) solution, no additional steps are required.
¡        If you use Real Estate (RE-Classic), additional checks are necessary.
           2.      Check whether, in addition to Real Estate (RE-Classic), you also work with a solution that uses the SAP Business Partner.
¡        If you only use Real Estate (RE-Classic), additional checks are necessary.
For more information about the activities to be processed, see Steps for Exclusive Use of Real Estate.
¡        If, in addition to Real Estate (RE-Classic) you also work with a solution that uses the SAP Business Partner, additional checks are necessary.

If your phone isn't being recognized by your computer, you need to follow the steps in this article to resolve that
Also, some basic isolation needs to be done. Does it show up in itunes on any other computers? do you have other cords you can test with to see if it might be the cord? if the phone doesn't show up on any computers, it's likely your phone has a hardware issue

  • I want to upgrade my graphics card.

I have issues with playing the newest games. I must use the lowest graphics settings. I want to upgrade my graphics card. I have a AMD 5450 PCI 2.0  now in a HPE-560z machine. I want to be able to play games on ultra settings if I can. What card do I buy that will run on my computer. I'm looking for more power, better graphics more memory and so on. But I have no idea what to buy that will just plug and play on what I got now.

Here is what "reading between the lines" sounds like is happening, but it is always better to spell things out...
    1st gen?
    ATI?
    GT120?
Then can I surmise that you have the ATI X1900?
Have you been checking for dust and cleaning it regularly?
I don't know about Softimage, and ATI vs Nvidia drivers.
If you look you will see that the GT120 is not supported. There is still the Nvidia 8800GT (there is one model for yours, and another for the 2008/2009 Mac Pro).
Your most powerful card, if you look at the benchmark tests at Barefeats and OWC/MacSales is the ATI Radeon 4870.
