Thinkcentre 8810-CTO BIOS

Hi Guys, I was looking everywhere but cannot find it. Got a second hand motherboard for one of the Thinkcentres but the BIOS is in Dutch. Looking for a BIOS update for it - in English. I looked at EOL models too no joy. Anyone anything?
MTM 8810-CTO, Product ID 8810WCG.
Thanks in advance

Just take generic one (just "8810"). They should have the same BIOS.
There is BIOS for models with AMT and without AMT.
What CPU do you have?

  • ThinkCentre A63 BIOS

The Lenovo Support tool is attempting (and failing) to download BIOS version 1.38A (5ojy38usa.exe) instead of 1.39 (5OJY39USA.exe) as is on the website for a ThinkCentre A63 6674A13.

If you read this forum, you will see that more recent systems, not long out of warranty, have been bricked by a BIOS update. In which case due caution is advised. Your company's systems are probably all under warranty, so there is little risk other than downtime waiting for a replacement motherboard.

  • T410 2516-CTO Memory

    I have a T410 2516-CTO, Bios Ver 1.34, and Windows 7 64bit.
I would like to expand my memory. I currently have 2gigs, and would like to expand up to 6 or 8. What I can't seem to find an answer to is the max supported memory for my model.
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-55644#t
This link is displaying that the T410 model's maximum memory is 8gigs, however searching other sources online I keep reading about how they max out at 6gigs.
Hoping someone with this model has some experience with this and can tell me what the max is.
If you need any other information about my system please ask and I will update as I can

Your 2nd dimm slot will be tucked underneath the keyboard.
Take out the 1 other screw inside that back panel, flip over the unit and slide the keyboard forwards and pull the bottom side up.  (You may need to gently pry it up with a small screw driver)
You'll see your extra slot right front of your nose but hiding underneath some black film.

  • T400 Screen turns Black/Gray and System Freezes.

My screen turns black or gray and the system freezes.
The only way to fix it is to restart the system by opening all forms of power supply (adaptor and the battery).
Sometimes it works fine for a day or two, sometimes only for a few hours.
I think the problem has something do with my graphics drivers or some other driver from Lenovo.
I have used Lenovo Thinkvantage Toolbox to check for hardware errors and it shows that everything is working fine.
I have updated all drivers but still the problem is there.
I still have warrenty period left.
I bought my system 2 years ago and have never had any problem untill this one.
My system specifications are given below.
Model: Lenovo Thinkpad T400 2764 CTO
    BIOS version (Latest?): 3.18 (latest)
OS loaded (ex. Win 7 64bit): Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Lenovo default OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Basic 32-bit
    Updates from TVSU completed? Yes.
    Updates from Windows Update? Yes.
    Power Manager Version: 3.25
    RAM installed (brand and 1 x 4gb, 1 x 2gb, 2 x 2gb?) 2 x 2 GB
Model of discrete card: ATI Mobility Radeon 3400
    Any error notification? No
3rd party application installed for the graphic card? No.
Any particular application which is running on the time this issue arises? No.
Running on battery? AC? Docked on station? Error occurs in any state.
    Any solutions?
    Anyone had similar problems?
    Thanks.

My problem seems to be similar. Sometimes my screen also turns black unexpectedly and the notebook freezes completely! In some cases I see a bluescreen of death and in some very few cases it restarts automatically. If it does not restart automatically I have to hold down the power button for some seconds to turn the notebook completely off (so that the "power on led" left to the "battery led" is not illuminated any more). Thereafter it is possible to start the notebook again. So unlike user 400 I do not have to remove any connected power sources.
The issue seems to occur out of nowere and seems not to be related to the use of a specific software. My system is up to date with lenovo drivers and windows update, exept the BIOS, which I updated the system two times since the problem exists since more than half a year!!
I also give my system specifications below:
    Model: Lenovo Thinkpad T400 2767 WC8
    BIOS version: 3.16
    OS: Windows 7 Professional x64
Updates from TVSU completed? Yes. (exept newest BIOS)
    Updates from Windows Update? Yes.
    Power Manager Version: 3.25
RAM installed  2 x 2 GB (bought and placed by loenovo reseller)
Model of discrete card and integrated card: ATI Mobility Radeon 3400 and intel mobility 4 chip
Any error notification? yes, entry for bsod or kernel-power-issue in the system protocol (but no specific error)
3rd party application installed for the graphic card? No.
Any particular application which is running on the time this issue arises? No.
I use my notebook with AC connected, with battery and most of the time in the advanced mini dock! Since a few days the error never happened when the notebook was docked! So I thought it is a power issue or has something to do with the graphics card.
But now I found out, that the issue might be related to the wlan card! This is because I never had a wireless lan connection when the notebook was docked, since I use a LAN cable. But a few days before I had to use the wlan while my notebook was docked and the error occured after some time. Furthermore, as far as I remember the issue never occured when the wireless lan was switched off and not docked, but I will check that again.
The issue also never occured when I booted windows in safe mode.
    @400
Maybe you can check if it is the same for you with your wlan? Maybe together we can find out what the exact problem is. I want to find out what is the problem to get it fixed by lenovo. Until now they alwas said, that they had never experienced such an error.
    Please keep on reporting.
    Thanks for any help

  • Windows 7 future re-installation on ThinkPad Edge

I have recently bought a ThinkPad Edge 15 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 pre-installed.  Mindful of potential future hard drive faults, or the OS screwing itself up (I've had both of these over the years), I have
made an image of the drive using the Toolbox, and that image now resides as drive Q
burned a Rescue & Recovery Disk to CD
I found the Product Key ok, under the battery...
    Questions
Will there now be a version of the pre-installed version of Windows 7 on either of these, because having tried to have a look using Explorer, it is not obvious that there is?
The Rescue & Recovery CD has a preboot and a boot folder, but does it have Windows 7 on there?
If not, is there a way to make a copy of the pre-installed Windows 7?
Thanks for any info on this.

Unless things have changed since I got my T400:
    1.  There should be an image of the machine as delivered in Q already.  As Duck3 said, it is available at boot time using the "Think" button.  (Or whatever it's called on an Edge)
    2. If you only burned an rescue CD, you have only the bootable Rescue and Recovery tool.  There should be an option somewhere - start menu or R&R advanced screen - to make a recovery media set.  That will include the rescue CD again, and probably two DVDs.  It will contain a factory image like  the one in Q.  The optical media guards against total drive failure where you can't boot to R&R on the HD.
[edit] The option to burn a recovery set may also be available by clicking (right click?) on the Q partition in windows explorer.
    3.  See 2.  You can also make backups (as you have I think) of the as-running system.  These can be on external HD or burned to DVDs.  It takes a lot of DVDs...

  • SimpleTap on new W520

    Hi,
I just took delivery on a new W520. It came with SimpleTap preinstalled. I can start it by double tapping the touchpad. I can not get it to work by touching the tiles via the latop screen. Is there something wrong or is this how it is suppose to work with this model of laptop?

  • W520 UEFI boot order changes not persistent

I have had a W520 for the entire summer.  I have always double or triple booted my laptops because of the nature of my work, but this is the first system I have ever owned with UEFI.
The problem: the W520 BIOS/Firmware/UEFI or whatever you want to call it does not keep the GPT boot order of the OS's that I attempt to save.  When I reboot and go back to the BIOS after saving it, it is in the same order that I started, which is in fact, the order that I installed the operating systems that, starting with the last one that I installed, first.  I called up Lenovo tech support and very quickly they conveyed to me that Lenovo only supports single boot of the operating system that came bundled with the installation.
I thought a later BIOS would help.  No such luck.
As much as I have read about UEFI, I know that the boot order is stored in the UEFI NVRAM.  There are some third-party utils that can edit the NVRAM configuration, but I was not able to find a cookbook guide clear enough wear I was OK messing with the health of my well populated analysis workstation.  If anyone has any experience with a step-by-step solution, I would be interested in hearing, and even paying, for your expertise as needed.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
It doesn't change the boot order, it create a new item "boot from file".
Are you using a virtual machine or physical machine?
If you are using a virtual machine, you can change the boot order from hyper-v settings.
If you are using a physical machine, you need to change the boot order manually.

  • Two bugs with 27++ battery behaviour

    Bug 1:
55++ and 27++ batteries are both connected.  However, the 27++ "lock switch" is not on, and the message "Important information about the slick battery"..."To use the slice battery, the battery must be locked" will appear (this is expected).  The system in this case will start discharging the 55++ (this is expected).  However, when the 55++ battery drops to 0%, the system then start discharging from the 27++ battery...even when then "lock switch" is off.  (This is unexpected)
So, is the popup message incorrect?  Or is the behaviour incorrect?
    Bug 2:
Power manager's battery icon considers the total amount of charge of both batteries even when the lock switch is off on the 27++.  Relating back to bug 1, when the 55++ battery discharges to a warning level (3% is what I've set mine to), the alarm and events will kick in (this is correct, because even though the 27++ is at 100% charge, the switch is off, and the system should only consider the 55++ as functional).  However, the battery indicator icon (on the taskbar) of Power Manager and the "Total remaining battery" time & percentage considers BOTH the 55++ and 27++ batteries.  So, rather than displaying 3% and around 4 minutes, Power Manager displays 52% and 6 hours (this is unexpected).
Lenovo, please fix this.  The user's experience should be consistent.
    System: 4282-CTO
    BIOS: 1.36
    OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit
    Power Manager: 3.66
    PM Driver: 1.64

    someotherguy wrote:
The switch should be in the locked position whenever the slice battery is attached.  If it is not, Power Manager will warn you, but it won't let your system die just because you forgot to flip a switch.  That would be a terrible design.
Sorry you are disappointed with the way the slice battery fits.
Yes, that I totally agree with.  In which case, it prompts the question of "Is there any electronic reasoning for the existance of the lock switch?".  The other two purposes of the lock swich I can see are:
    1. It changes the order of dischange between the 27++ and the 55++.
    2. It "locks" the battery in.
So, the 27++ battery actually "functions" as a fully functional battery regardless of the lock switch's state.  Isn't it?  This conficts with the popup message prompt.
Then the next thing is, Windows would report 0% as soon as the 55++ is dischanged...but the system would continue to use the 27++...which, IMO, is a conflict of information presented to the user.  While the battery indicator is a Windows feature, I believe Lenovo should remedy this difference in the reported capacity.
Another question...is there a UX QA department somewhere?

  • OCZ Vertex 4 512GB SSD on W520 guaranteed BSOD--BEWARE!

Just wanted to make a quick post to let prospective W520 upgraders know about Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) problems that occurrs when using a the 512GB Vertex 4.  This is an issue that affects more than just Lenovos (Alienware in particular). When resuming from sleep, the W520 will BSOD 100% of the time.  I have posted on the OCX forums along with others.  I went ahead and returned the Vertex 4 after I bought it from Amazon, since no amount of troubleshooting would fix it.  I am replacing it with the Samsung 512GB since there are many people on the forum who have had success with that.
Bottom line: don't buy a Vertex 4 until Lenovo or OCZ come out with a fix, unless you don't mind testing manufacturer's stuff for free!
    W520 CTO BIOS rev 1.37. Core i7-2760QM, 32GB PC3-10600, NVidia Quadro 1000M, Samsung 830 512GB, SanDisk pSSD-S2 32GB, x64 tri-boot: Win2k8R2, Fedora 17, Ubuntu 12.04

I would go with Intel for reliability:
    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-reliability-failure-rate,2923-9.html
My next machine, which will be 17" Ivy Bridge/Kepler w/120Hz 3D display, will have dual Intel SSDs in RAID0, with probably an mSATA SSD for backup. And if you keep data/docs on a separate partition from the system partition, then you seldom need to backup the system (I dump my data/docs to a NAS each day, which itself is backed up).
The problem with less reliable SSDs is that SSDs tend to fail completely and with no warning, unlike hard drives. So, if avoiding downtime is important to you, then you want one of the more reliable SSDs. Overall, the more reliable SSDs (the orange line & dotted line in the chart, which should include the Intel 520-series SSDs) now appear to be more reliable than hard drives, under heavy use, according to that article.
But, as with any computer-related product nowadays, I would make sure that users say that the current firmware/drivers are stable with your computer, before buying.

When I have been able to test sites previously against this site's list for various models, the current drivers have matched those at the HP Driver list for the selected Operating System.
BIOS drivers at top of the list.

  • Thinkcentre M57 dead after changing settings in BIOS

    Hello,
I have am M57 tower that has been running great for many years but now all of a sudden after changing a few settings in BIOS (I did not upgrade the bios) all I can get the machine to do is power cycle over and over again with fans at full speed. I attempted the steps here http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/A-M-and-Edge-Series-ThinkCentre/M57-BIOS-Update-Failure/td-p/55840 but no luck. I did not change any hardware recently. I have also removed the descrete video card in it but there is no difference. When I attempt to recover the BIOS via a usb desette drive it beeps once then reads the disk for about 5 to 10 seconds with the fans at full speed. Any help would be appreshiated. I never knew you could brick a system by changing settings.

Odd that you followed procedure and that still didn't do it. Change the coin battery on the motherboard, restart pressing F1. Once into the BIOs with a new battery installed, go to the last page and select Load Default Settings, and then select F10 to Save Changes and exit. If all this was caused by a weak battery, this should fix it.
You can find coin batteries (CR2032) at Home Depot or even Walmart.
