Thinkcentre E73 HDMI

anyone knows how to connect this PC through a HD tv via HDMI? and oh, Thinkcentre e73 haven't had any HDMI port. thanks

After the system partition was backuped, i was able to play around with some drivers and
finally got it working.  No more exclamation mark in device manager.
But only when i put an USB stick in an usb port, it detects the usb stick very slow.
(think about one minute)  Another Lenovo does the same thing in just seconds,
Device manager shows usb 3.0 ports.
Any suggestion what is wrong?

  • Lenovo ThinkCentre E73 10AS Dual monitors

I just purchased a Lenovo ThinkCentre E73 10AS. The spec says it supports 2 monitors but it only has 1 VGA port. Any advice on how to set up the second monitor greatly appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The other video port is a DisplayPort (DP.) If by chance your monitor supports DP (a few do), you can DP cable it direct. Else, you will need a DP (passive) adapter to DVI or HDMI (or VGA if your monitor does not support those -- VGA being analog is not as good as the digital of the other two.)
Lenovo sells it's re-branded DP adapters (possibly StarTech from what I can tell), but I generally suggest buying an AMD approved adapter:
    http://support.amd.com/en-us/recommended/eyefinity-adapters
You want a Passive adapter, and not Mini-DP.   And possibly check the E73 User Manual and Lenovo documentation for more information.

  • Dual monitors on E73

Just bought the Thinkcentre E73 (Win 7 Pro)... but I'm having problems to connect my displays.
The first screen has a DVI and VGA-slot, the second has DVI, VGA and HDMI.
I want to use the two screens separatily (fe. left screen = spreadsheets, right screen =  databases).
    Thinkcentre only has 1 VGA-slot  + 1 displayport... .
The store where I bought the E73 recommended me an Y-splitter VGA Cable: result --> I have two identical screens...
Does any one know how I can solve this problem?
    Solved!

You would want one of these, or Display port to DVI or whatever you prefer.

  • ThinkCentre M73's Recovery

    Hello,
We've just purchased 14 ThinkCentre M73's and want to know if we need to create recovery media for each PC or will one set of DVDs created on one of them be OK for recovering all the PCs if needed?  This is in case the in-built recovery cannot be used or gets wiped.
    Thank you,

    Hi ovann86
Try download and install this new driver from Intel to see if a new version of driver resolves this.

  • E73 Win7 Driver Pack

Is there or will there be a driver pack for E73 Thinkstations ? Thanks

Hi, The E73 should have no problems running W7, however if you do need additional drivers, you can download them at www.lenovo.com/support Below the link that will bring you directly to the E73 support page. Select your Windows version and all the drivers you need will be shown. http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/desktops-and-all-in-ones/thinkcentre-e-series-desktops/thinkcentre-e73 Hope this helps.

  • E73 function keys need to be swapped

I have purchase several Lenovo ThinkCentre E73 desktop computers for use in a work enviroment. The keyboard supplied has the function keys default set to multimedia instead of the standard F1-F12 operation. This does not work here, I have searched multiple different ways both in the computer and here online and cannot find a way to change this to the standard default, I can use some other keyboard and the f keys work proplerly. How can I fix this?

Do not worry about this, I kept hunting and finally found something close that I used as a guide to hunt in the computer and found a place to fix. I thought that in 4 hours I would have had some kind of a response but I guees no one is interested in helping a person out.

  • T430 Performance

I bought my T430 (core i5, 4gb, win7 64-bit) a little over 2 years ago. The machine slowed down quiet a bit. So I wiped the hard-drive clean, re-installed the OS and only installed a few additional apps. I feel the performance has slightly improved, but not much.
Does anyone have ideas on what I can do to improve performance? Would increasing the RAM to 8GB make a big difference?

    Hi balak27
    1. You could follow through this Knowledge Base to speed up your system.
    2. Defrag your hard disk drive with Defraggler.

  • NVIDIA and external monitor

    W520, Windows 7 (64 bit), NVIDIA Quadro 1000M 2GB DDR3, purchased November 2011.
    Problems (related?):
-External monitor remains unrecognized when connected to W520.
-NVIDIA not recognized or working.   Maybe reason external monitor not recognized?
Tried to connect this computer to an HP2511x external monitor (via VGA direct to the computer or through docking station) but the monitor is not recognized.  Last made this connection about a year ago and it worked fine at that time: plugged the VGA cable into the W520 and the external monitor connected automatically, in duplicate mode.  The HP usually is connected to another computer and works fine, and the VGA cable was tested recently and is good. Tried the options at Fn/F7 and windows key/P:  the HP monitor remains black.
Studied the external monitor issue in forums and learned about the NVIDIA comments.   In follow up, I learned that the NVIDIA device is not listed in my Device Manager, under Display Adapters or elsewhere.  Right-clicking the desktop does no bring up the NVIDIA Control Panel.
When I do a search for the NVIDIA Control Panel, this message appears:
“NVIDIA display settings are not available.   You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA  GPU.”  This appears whether VGA connected to the external monitor or not.
I attempted, several times, to download the NVIDIA driver from the NVIDIA site via auto detection.  The auto detect page instructed me to download Java, but Java is already loaded and current.  So I entered the NVIDIA info manually, which eventually lead to this message:
    “NVIDIA Installer failed”
HD Audio Driver – Not Installed
    NVIDIA WMI – Not Installed
    nView – Not Installed
    Graphics Driver – Failed
3D Vision Driver – Not Installed
So, I went to the Lenovo website and downloaded:
“NVIDIA Optimus Display Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit) - ThinkPad”
After a restart, right clicking the desktop still does not show the NVIDIA Control Panel.
    The Device Manager shows:
    -Intel(R) HD Graphic Family
    -Unknown device
I clicked on the Unknown device and read:
    -Device type: Display adapters
    Manufacturer: Unknown
Location: PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0
Device status: Reinstall the driver for this device. (Code 18)
Then I clicked the Reinstall Driver button, which lead to this message:
“Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.  Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.  NVIDIA Quadro 1000M”
I went through the above processes several times to be certain that I did not miss something.
There is a GeForce shortcut on the desktop and when clicked, leads to this message:
“GeForce Experience encountered an error and must close.”
    Tried rebooting to BIOS:
    BIOS>Config>Display: the options are:
-Boot Display Device (ThinkPad LCD) default
    -Graphic Device (NVIDIA Optimus)
-OS Detection for NVIDIA Optimus (enabled)
Changed display to Graphic Device, tapped F10 to save and exit, then save, before computer goes into normal mode.
Try Fn/F7, duplicate, then extend, then projector and in all cases the HP monitor remains black, unrecognized.  Message on W520 screen:
“Unable to connect to a computer.
    No projector was detected.”
So, back to reboot> BIOS>Config>Display were I find that the setup reverted to the default.  Changed display to OS Detection for NVIDIA Optimus disabled.  Save, reboot, Fn/F7 and again no recognition of the HP monitor.  Reboot, BIOS etc, and the display option is back to the original default.
What do I need to do to get NVIDIA and the external monitor working on this W520?
    Thank you.

    Hi RR
    1. Ensure your BIOS is set to NVIDIA Optimus for multiple monitor connectivity.
    2. Download and update your Intel and NVIDIA driver from it's official website. Clicking Intel and NVIDIA will link directly to the download page for latest driver.
    3. If the 2 above succeed, but Fn+F7 still can't display your external monitor. Try right click Desktop > NVIDIA Control Panel > Display > Set up multiple displays. (The only workable method for W520 - Windows 8.1)

  • Dolby Home Theater V4 changed to Dolby Digital Plus after Realtek Audio Driver update Windows 8.1

Hi,I'm now using Ideapad Z510. After upgraded to Windows 8.1. I'd went to the Lenovo website searching for new driver update.
But, after i install the "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.7023", the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is not running(audio sound not playing through). And, the "Dolby Digital Plus" is running instead of "Dolby Home Theater V4".
Then, when I try to reinstall the older version "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.6954" from Lenovo website, the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is running again.
Truly, the "Dolby Digital Plus"'s sound is crisper and louder than "Dolby Home Theater V4". But the sound of "Dolby Home Theater V4" has more bass and more function (like Graphic Equalizer, more Intelligent Equalizer etc.).
Is this an update or what?
What should I choose? The newer driver (for Windows 8.1) or older driver (for Dolby Home Theater V4)?  Thanks. (confused now) @@

    Hi all
Could you try out DAA or DHTLightweight from my link and just install the Dolby software without overriding your Realtek Driver? I am not sure whether would it work, but worth a try. I have tried on Y460, W520 and G560 with great experience.
If the older Dolby software does not work with your existing Realtek driver, you could install the DAA or DHTLightweight with their driver to overwrite and see how it goes.
    Thank You

  • Software not talking...

Just a little heads up for those that use the W540 as a real Workstation with the newer "State of the Art" software that sees designed for dumb terminals.
Adobe Acrobat works great, and communicates to the user what is happening while doing housekeeping.
Unfortunately, Adobe has gone CC, and into the cloud.  There are serious cloud issues too long to address here. So I'm testing out ABBYY Transformer+ before going to their PDF FineReader.  The New issues:
The new ABBYY interface does not tell the user when writing a file, deleting pages (particularly annoying when doing  ^tag multiple pages to delete), the save icon or performed action barely shows a slight outline that something is happening often sowing nothing but a stalled/locked screen.  The screen is ALWAYS locked, and if trying to perform another task within the application, it remains locked, and sometimes a [Not responding] sign appears and the user never knows when the next step can be done or if the buffer is clear.
This is not just a software issue, but really a hardware failure of not telling the user that the computer is busy performing a task.  I'm working with 500meg to 800meg PDF files (color), so there are long lags where I know not what is happening and the program is either locked or crashed.  This is NOT ACCEPTABLE from a Workstation AND as far as I can tell there are no workarounds.
There needs to be a dialog of the system to the user.  I do not see in the specifications of the W540 replacement any mention of a HD light.  Maybe a workaround?  There are 4 wasted keys to the upper right... more than enough room for an LED to show activity and a hard WiFi disconnect. At least going back to a real trackpad/buttons is a move in the correct direction, but more needs to be done to.  Software issues I can handle, hardware ?? ....

    Hi Bauden
    1. What is the power plan configured? If it's power saving, definitely performance would be slow. If you are running on AC and need performance, set the power plan to maximum performance.
    2. You could try update your system driver with Lenovo System Update. Often, outdated driver may cause issues or less optimal experience.
    3. Do you have any other ThinkPad running the same software, but run your application well?

  • W540 Questions & Issues

    Hi Folks,
    Questions & Issues:
    1.  Where is the Break key on the W540?
    2.  My W540 locks up about once every two days - there does not appear to be any common task that causes this.  When it lock nothing works, not Ctrl+Alt+Del, I must power off with the power button.  Any comments or suggestions?
    Observations:
I'm not a fan of the new keyboard.  For example, the F1..F12 keys are difficult to read (the F parts, not the pictures) and the off center feel leads to difficult typing (at least for me).
    TIA

    Hi SD
    1. Try Fn+B for Break
Refer to this post for more information.
    1.2.
    2. Go to Start > Lenovo > System Update. Install all Critical and Recommended Updates.
    3. If No.2 does not work, go to Task Manager > Startup > Try uncheck a few which is optional. Do not uncheck Lenovo Stuffs and Antivirus.

  • W540 Graphics Card Clarification

I had one clarification regarding the graphics card I chose for W540 which was "W540 NVIDIA Quadro K2100M 2GB" but when I got my spec confirmed it was changed some thing like "NVN15P-Q3Opt(K2000Mfollowon) Graphic Card".
Are both these represent the same thing or the one I got is something different.

    Hi gaugeta123
If I am not wrong. NVN15P-Q3Opt(K2000Mfollowon) is just a codename for NVIDIA Quadro K2100M 2GB. So, technically both are the same.

  • All Windows versions past 7 uses 100% my HDD

Hello, I have an old Lenovo B560 bought in February 2011. I had Windows 7 installed and it used to work well until Windows 8 was released and i couldn't stop myself upgrade my OS. Since then i have troubles with my HDD usage which is 100% most of the time and if i go to task manager ->performance ->disk in use, the average response time is sometimes more than 10000ms. Thats causing serious problems of slowness on my PC. Since then, i've installed Windows 8.1 and WIndows 10. These days i've disabled the service called BITS and my HDD usage is about 10% most of the time, but there are still many situations when my PC become extremely slow due to high HDD usage. Today i've opened task manager and analyze all those proceses and i've discovered about 40 proceses that are related to services. Did any of you had this situation and managed to overpass it?
    Sorry for my bad english.
    Thanks in advice,
    Andrei Savescu.

    Welcome andrei
    1. I am not sure about Windows 10 Technical Preview, I wouldn't recommend if you are using on your main machine.
    2. Have you installed the latest BIOS and drivers for your B560 when running Windows 8.1? At times, Windows default driver may not work well on some hardware.

  • W520 running Windows 8.1 not connecting to internet after sleep

Hey everybody, really need the help!
I have a w520 that suddenly stopped connecting to the internet after waking up from sleep. I will connect to the network and show others but the connection to the Internet times out. Once I restart I can access the Internet but as soon as it goes to sleep the problem happens again.  I have tried on many different networks and at the beginning of the week this was not an issue.
    Things I have tried:
    different browser
    different networks
reinstalling the drivers for the card
What else could be causing this sudden issue?

  • X230: what is expected temperature during heavy CPU load?

    Hello all,
after few seconds of heavy CPU usage on my x230 termal sensors show temperature slightly above 100 degrees celsius. I think it's way to high and probably should call the service to replace the fan, clean the heatsink etc, but wanted to make sure.
For comparison, my previous machine (x201) did not ever go above 85 degrees during similar tasks.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Welcome morgwai
Probably your heatsink is clogged with dusk or the thermal paste between your heatsink and Intel CPU dried up, causing poor heat transfer. Even in full load, the CPU temp should not exceed 90C.
I suggest that you contact Tech Support to replace the fan.
