Thinkcentre M93P Win 7 (64) Will Not Blank Display

Brand new M93P will not blank the display. I have a DP-DVI Cable, Samsung monitor. I try all different settings in power manager, Win7, and can not get the display to blank after xx minutes. Ideas? Thanks

Well, that's the "answer". If you are not even getting the screen saver to come on, then there's no way the power-save mode (i.e. putting the monitor to sleep, so that its power LED changes color and the screen goes dark) will EVER kick in! The second stage (i.e. power-save mode after some specified period of time of system inactivity) is dependent on the first stage first, where the screen saver kicks in after some specified period of system inactivity. It's only when the period of system inactivity exceeds the screensaver time limit and now reaches the power-save time limit that the monitor will be put to sleep.
So... something is running in your system which is convincing Windows that it is "active". Normally this would require human interface activities, like mouse or keyboard, but it sounds like in your system some task is running in the background which is "keeping the system active", as if you yourself were touching the mouse or keyboard.
I'd investigate using Task Manager, to see what's running. It might not be a bad idea to run a "cocktail" of anti-malware elimination steps (as detailed in this "recipe") on the off-chance something malicious has insinuated itself on your system that you're not aware of.
Excellent observation, about the screen saver never kicking in. That's the "giant clue" that something is running on your system which is simulating a human interface, in my opinion. Without first getting the screen saver as you should, you will NEVER get the power-save second stage as you want.

When opening those files I have the same problem in Camera Raw dailogue and even in Photoshop eventually.
I tried to open the same same pictures on another computer with the same version of Bridge and Photoshop but the problem remains the same.
It seems like the files itselves are still ok, because if you open an explorer window the previews of the pictures are all ok. And the pictures' sizes remain the same.
I tried to clear the cache in both programs but it didn't help.
Has anyone an idea????

First see if a reboot of your PC helps. If not,
Resets may be in order:
Photoshop: Press and hold Control - Shift - Alt immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop. If you get the keys down quickly enough - and you have to be VERY quick - it will prompt you to confirm deletion of your established preferences, which will lead to them all being set to defaults.
Bridge: Start Adobe Bridge and immediately press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) until the Reset Settings dialog box appears. Select all three options--Reset Preferences, Reset Standard Workspaces, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and then click OK.
Outdated graphics drivers can also cause display problems. Go to your GPU maker's website and be sure you have the latest drivers for your card model.

You could try updating your apple TV and then restarting it. Bit of a guess.

Upgrade Windows 8.1 computer without key when Win 10 will not activate

I understand that activation of Windows 10 is not necessary but concerned about production build not activating. My Win 10 Enterprise install shows not activated and will not activate even after keying new activation key found on these pages.
My concern is the target computer is a Dell 660s that I bought for cheap off the shelf at Best Buy. Purchased with Win 8 installed and shortly after upgraded to 8.1 with no activation problem. The computer does not have a label on it with the original
Win 8 key on it. I assume it is a legitimate copy of Windows given where it was bought and showed no activation problem with 8.0 or 8.1. I bought the computer just as a Windows 8 learning tool, so was anxious to use the Win 10 Technical Preview
on it. I have had many problems with the computer not rebooting after updates to the Preview have been installed. Just blank screen with no Post. Sometimes boots after many retries - usually with a message that the previous boot did not make
it past a certain checkpoint. It does seem to boot with 1 or 2 tries if I open the computer and use the jumper to clear CMOS. Tried that mostly due to the no Post messages. Maybe coincidence that it takes less tries to boot after the CMOS
clear. Don't know if the problem is due to Windows 10 or a glitch developed in the Dell computer itself. Suspect the later because I tested by replacing the hard disk with an empty formatted one and tried booting Win 10 and Win 8 boot images from
the DVD drive with no success.
But to repeat after rambling on, my main concern is whether Win 10 will activate when the production version is released and not having the label on my computer to enter the previous Win 8 key and past the Dell support time period.
Note: I tried to thank both responders at this point; but the 2nd person response gave 'unexpected error' when I tried to submit. Problem has been solved. 5/1/15

Ordinarily there should not need to be a key needed.
I am running the pro version on an old netbook and enterprise in a virtual machine
neither asked for a serial to install and updates have been smooth lately, but I have had to make clean installs of both since the original preview was released

I have a similar question to the one Brendan posted a day or two ago. My wife's MacBook Pro will find my library for home sharing, but my ACER will not even display the home sharing icon. Home sharing on, latest version on iTunes.

Win xp will not do complete install

I use Bootcamp to partition HD, then use win xp to partition and format HD but cannot get out of these two operations. When I reboot Mac, it will not open in windows, only back to the windows formatting or partitioning.
Instructions call for ejecting Win disk and installing Mac Snow Lep. disk to update drivers. Since it will not open into Windows, I cannot do disk change.
If I open in Win partition or from CD, it goes back to partition or formatting screens in windows.

Bear with me, I'm not familiar with all the itinerations of Windows. Are you saying that later (than 7) versions of Windows cannot run XP? Or is that just a "No comment?"
Latest findings: After screwing around trying to install XP I quit everything and was going to do a final backup. The backup would not start. Then I noticed that the backup drive was no longer on my desktop. After poking around I found a 32 gb partition on my backup HD. I assume that somehow I partitioned the backup drive instead of my main drive. Cannot figure it out because Bootcamp Installer should not have allowed me to partition an external drive.
Anyway, I could not find a way to delete the partition so I have erased my backup drive and am in the process of doing an initial backup, estimated time = 8 hours.
After full backup is accomplished I'll try installing XP again on my OS10.6.8. Hopefully it will actually be on my main HD.
Since it will now be back on topic, I'll try to update on what happens.

Hi Rachel,
As far as I know, seem it's not possible bu bypass the prompt window of gated check in. But it allows you to do batched gated builds. With batched gated build, you can specify a build definition to build more than one queued build at a time. Check this

LR 6 Win update will not install

My install fails with an error code 6
it shows two problems neither fatal but still will not install
1 It wants Visual C++ 2012 and Microsoft says it may cause other programs to fail. Currently I run Visual C++ 2010.
2 vcredist_64.exe failed with exit code 2147942750
Microsoft says to talk to Adobe.

LR 6 installs 3 versions of Visual C++ but not the one that cause the problem. Each time I run install it go to completion almost seems to die at 99% completion. So I decided to check what if anything was installed. I found the directory.
For the first time it is not listed as Lightroom X.0 as all previous version have but simple at Lightroom. After looking at the files and finding "Setup" and the "Lightroom.exe" I decided to see if it would load. sure enough it loaded and runs fine.
I tested it on an unimportant catalog first and everything seems fine so now I am running it with my current catalog. I have added a shortcut to my desktop so am good to go.
I was able to talk to an Adobe tech, Rakesh Sarawat, but he was unhelpful and hung up when he got stuck. Thanks for your ideas and information. It nice to have someone to talk with.

Win XP will not install on K9N4 Ultra based system, please help!

Hello, i was hoping some1 could help me with a problem ive been trying to sort out for the past week or so. After buying and building a new system i havent been able to get Windows XP to install, the setup formats and copies the initial files correctly then restarts the computer for the first time, the Windows logo then displays on the screen but after that the screen goes blank and nothing happens, the HD led flashes regularly but nothing else happens. Ive tried installing with both XP home and pro, neither worked, installing Vista works without any problems. I have tried using the Sata drivers from the motherboard CD and from MSI website but that doesnt make any difference, ive also checked the CPU temp which at idle is 25C. Ive tried pretty much everything i can think of without buying extra components to try which i am reluctant to do. On one occasion XP did install but at the time i was trying to install to the second hard drive with a failed install still on the first hard drive, thinking that whatever was causing the problem had been solved i then formatted both drives to do reinstall so that i wouldnt have to screw around with the boot record manually, ive since tried recreating this situation but it hasnt worked when i tried it a second time. Ive tried installing with only one hard drive installed with a freshly made partition and full format and it still did not work.
My specs are:
MSI K9N4 Ultra-F
AMD AM2 X2 3800+
Corsair DDR2 667Mhz 2 DIMMS 1Gb each
MSI Geforce 7300GT 256Mb
Seagate Barracude 7200.9 Sata2 hard disks (2) 250Gb each
450W Win Power PSU
There is also a Creative Sound blaster audigy sound card and a samsung DVD RW, nothing else is connected.
The only thing that i could think might be a problem is the PSU which is a pretty cheap one, also only has 20 pin and 4 pin connecters (both are connected) but i was under the impression that this would be ok.
If anyone has any ideas or knows something i dont about why this isnt working with XP please let me know.

Have you checked the memory timings in BIOS Setup? At one time MSI used to just get them wrong and I recall having to set DDR CL to 3 (correct for the DIMMs I had), instead of the 2.5 it chose - no idea on DDR2 though but check that your Corsair specs cross-check with what's used. Is the Sound Blaster Audigy installed? If so try taking it out and go into BIOS Setup and Load Optimized Defaults, then disable all the "fluff" which is not absolutely necessary for a basic install, like on-board audio, ethernet, unused IDE/SATA channels, FireWire(?) etc. You want to get down to a minimum required Windows driver set and if that helps, start adding things back one by one. Also check your mbrd seating for shorts and the CPU heatsink seating... does the CPU temp look right in BIOS Setup.

Pasted objects will not properly display.

I have several users at my company who are experiencing the same issue. The issue being, that when they paste objects that were copied from other programs into an Outlook 2010 email or they receive pictures objects in an email, those objects' source formatting
is not displayed. Instead these objects show up as a blank white square within the email. I've attempted to follow several of the previous threads concerning similar issues, but have yet to find a fix for this.
So far I have made sure that the Cut, Copy, and Paste options under the menu Options > Mail > Editor Options > Advanced tab are set to Keep Source Formatting (default). However, this does not prevent this issue from occurring. I've tried recreating
each user's profile as well as re installing one user's Office 2010 suite entirely. I'm starting to think this is caused by a windows update error of some kind. May I please get some assistance with this.

First of all, please make sure the users are editing emails with HTML Format. If it's Rich Text Format or Plain Text Format, when pasting the objects it's easy to lose some original formats.
Did this issue occur suddenly since an update? I haven't heard any report about such issue so far.

I want to install Windows 7 via Boot Camp and using a MacbookPro (about 14 month old).
What I have here is the Install CD of Win 7, Mac OSX Snow Leopard and some Version of Bootcamp.
Here is the first problem, I can`t find the information what version of BootCamp I have. All system updating is done...
I read a few articels that say I need to have the 3.1 Update. So downloading it and finding an .exe file. Ok, read I have to install it in Windows.
So I need an update to install something but can only update after installing?
Downloading the BootCamp Version 3.0 is not possible, it seems not to exist, only updates.
But I tried to install. After the partition it starts with the win 7 disk in the CD-Case. Starting - New Windows - liscensing - and than choosing the path. So i choose the path of BOOTCAMP. But than I can`t go further, its not possible. The option to update is there, but nothing happens. The other option is drift, but it can`t find anything there. I even tried an extern drive where I put the Bootcamp update and the Mac OSX CD on it (as I can`t change a CD while the windows CD is inside), but that doesn`t change anything.
Does anyone have a clue and can help me?

Just partition and boot from Windows 7 DVD (not CD)
When it asks where, the pdf guide tells you to select "BOOTCAMP" partition but also, Advanced Option to change it (format) to NTFS.
Don't worry about versions, just use your Mac OS as is, and when Windows is done installing then insert your OS X DVD and run SETUP.exe which will be BC 3.0. ONLY then can it be updated to 3.1 and finally to 3.2, either manually or through Windows Apple Software Update (part of BC 3.0).
YOU DO NOT NEED 3.1 - or, if you do, it is only that 3.0 came out before Windows 7 shipped (hence buggy).
At this point in time, those should be re-written, as you really need 3.2 update.

Dynamic LOV query will not be displayed

select ename, empno from emp order by 1
then we created a list of values depending on the record group:
We added ename to emp.mgr and empno to null in the LOV
Then we changed the emp.emg item to type CHAR and POPUP list
When we run the form nothing is displayed in the colum of MGR and only 1 record in th tabular form is displayed.

Satellite A100-049 with Vista - Win DVD will not play?

Just bought the above. All seems fine so far (but only had it 2 days) apart from when I try to play a region 2 dvd in the drive. I select WinDVD 8 and it gives the option to open from drive of folder. I select "f" being the drive and the disc spins up. No picture or sound though. The initial screen just stays on. (They will play in media centre so drive seems fine)
Cannot see any setting to change and the drive is set to region 2. Looking in the "getting started" it does say that for the final version of vista it "may" be necessary to download a patch but I cannot find one.
Any help appreciated

Do you try to play the original DVDs?
If your DVD drive was set to another region its possible that you will be not able to play such DVDs.
You can change the region code in the drive properties. But be careful; you can change it only 4 or 5 times (cannot remember)
But if you can play the movies with MCE so I dont think that you need to change the drive region code.
Did you try to install some codex? If not try it!!
