Thinking about getting the iPhone, any reviews?

I am hoping to get the iPhone for either my birthday or Christmas. I know quite a few people who have the iPhone 3G and greatly enjoy it, but I have been reading over some discussion boards and I am not very sure any more!
Could anyone give me their opinion on the iPhone 3G?
Thanks,
Hailey

it depends on what you really want it for but these are my opinions ive not had many major problems like people have on this forum just usual things i dont like
good points
if its for music/video/internet/email on the go then i cant fault the device never really had any major issues with the iphone i use it everyday for this stuff i get my mail delivered i can check the net whereever i am etc
as a phone i hate it!
u can only customize the ring tone
sms/email tones you cant change and sometime just about hear
you get a lag sometimes when you txt a reboot solves this
you cant txt sideways
no sms count on how many letters you have used
you cant forward sms messages
no mms (carrying a second phone resolves this) and no using email is not really a good alternative)
i hate the way sms messages are all within a single window like a streaming conversation i would like to have a new window for every txt message and be able to save txt messages i want to folders
i get a lag when i view txt messages i only have 3 in my box and takes about 3/4 seconds from time i click sms button on the phone to when i get a listing of messages.
would i get one ever again no chance no unless it acts more like a phone.

  • Thinking about getting first iPhone (the iPhone 5s).

Thinking about getting the iPhone 5s, this will be my first iPhone (always have been a Android user).
Can a bunch of you guys be OBJECTIVE PLEASE and tell me why I should get the iPhone 5s over the HTC One or the Samsung Galaxy 4s?
I have a iMac desktop. This is my main reason for getting the iPhone (beacuse of iCloud)...but I would like more information about the phone and how it compares with the other phones I mentioned.
                                                            Thank you.

Like all devices, it has its little glitches from time to time, but overall its seems to work great...and I have the original iPhone...never had a real problem that couldnt be fixed by simply turning it off and on...
As for payment questions, you may want to contact Optus, Telstra or Vodafone...looks like they are the carriers in Australia.

  • Thinking about getting an Iphone 3g

Hey guys, just have a couple questions concerning the iphone 3g
    Thinking about getting, two questions?
I've heard some negative press about the actual phone feature ironically. Has the call drop issue been resolved, or is that issue mainly due to your service area now?
Also, does the phone have a tendency to slow down massively if it gets close to capacity?
My old ipods have never really worked correctly in that regard.
Little skeptical b/c of these issues, any advice is appreciated.

Why you are thinking of buying 3G phone?
if you run a business and you need to access your emails on the go?
while talking on the phone? and while updating your website and you want to talk to your IT department? do online trading?
do you wanot make a multimedia call? (does ATT support this feature?) ive lived in Bahrain and that was one the first country to have 3G cellular network up and running around 5 years ago)
if these are not your primary usage then don't expect anything from a 3G phone as its just a 2 radio device which drains battery quick and you are okay with that too go ahead and buy iPhone 3G what i hate is people who don't understand what a 3G phone can do and what are its limitation come here or for that matter on any forum and whine whine whine till i feel like brk my leg by kicking their butt so hard

  • Thinking About Getting An iPhone??

I'm thinking about getting one but im not quite sure if it is for me.
I was just wondering if you can answer these questions for me:
Does the touchscreen ever stuff up?? Like go all funny like i no other touch phones do.
(this might be a stupid question to u) But how do you like pay for ringing and texting people. Is it like a normal phone where you use prepaid vouchers or does it only have credit card payment?
Thanks and im in Australia if that matters.

  • My wife and I have a family account at Verizon and are thinking of getting the IPhone 4S.  My question is can we both use the functions of Icloud on the same account at Verizon or do we have to have separate accounts to be able to use all the features

My wife and I have a family account at Verizon and are thinking of both getting the IPhone 4S.  My question is can we both use all of the features of Icloud with one account at Verizon or do we need to have separate accounts?

If Mail in Mavericks is the same as earlier versions you can select accounts in the sidebar, so that you can either display the inboxes for individual accounts, or the contents of all the account inboxes. (If the accounts don't show click the disclosure triangle next to 'INBOX'). The layout may have changed since the version I have - Snow Leopard - but you should be able to do the same thing.

  • Yooooooooooooooo, Thinking about getting the K7N2

                                           --Rob--

    Hi !
I installed it this weekend with my old CPU, and have a few notes about it  :D
First of all the pleasant setup:
No problems setting up the board with the old installation of Win XP (yes I know.. you should not do that, but I did not have the time for reinstallation)
Only driver I had to install was the very debated IDE driver.
The things that comes to mind compared to 420D:
    - Very crisp sound - even better (and who have thougt that was possible)
    - Faster Windows boot
    - In general better speed & stability.
The only benchmarks I had time to complete was 3D mark 2001:
    MSI GeForce 4 MX440 8X
    http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=5264530
    MSI GeForce 4 Ti4200 8X
    http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=5271508
This should be OK with an old Win XP installation.
However the lack of SATA, RAID & Firewire is pulling me to "The Dark side" unless of course the new boards in January have theese features and a good pricing.
    My old setup:
    nForce 420D o/b graphics
    Athlon XP1700+
    2X Samsung 256MB PC2100 DDR
My new setup: (for now at least)
    K7N2-L
    Athlon XP1700+
    256MB Buffalo PC3200 DDR
    MSI GF4 Ti4200 8X

  • Thinking about getting an iPhone when released in UK

    hey guys,
hoped you could answer a few questions before i shelled out a fortune getting one of these phones:
    * is the 2mega pixel camera sufficient? The mobile i've got is 3.2mega pixel and images are pretty clear. I'm weary about 'downspecing'
    * can i bluetooth images and notes to my mates with bluetooth enabled phones? does the bluetooth stay on continuously?
    * how does the memory work? is there a memory card or is it internal memory? if so how big (MB?)
    * does it play realplayer and mpeg4 video files?
    * is software added to via downloads when the phone is hooked up to a PC?
    * can you get satnav on the phone?
sorry for the barage of questions but hey i'm keen
    thanks
    Starkey

is the 2mega pixel camera sufficient? The mobile i've got is 3.2mega pixel and images are pretty clear. I'm weary about 'downspecing'
You're right to be. The iPhone's camera is not bad, and is certainly capable of taking good pictures, but is not all that sensitive so when the shape of the thing is taken into account, it makes taking clear pictures in indoor settings rather difficult, and with the ease of smudging, bright images can also be blurry. Keep it clean and steady and it's OK, but not great. I use it as a way to document patch panels and data cabs, and it's fine for that, but in other situations it's just useful because I have a camera handy, not because it's good.
can i bluetooth images and notes to my mates with bluetooth enabled phones? does the bluetooth stay on continuously?
It isn't possible to use BT to move data. It is only for connecting to handsfree systems or headsets.
how does the memory work? is there a memory card or is it internal memory? if so how big (MB?)
It has fixed internal memory of 8Gb capacity (of which 7.7Gb is available for use).
does it play realplayer and mpeg4 video files?
Mpeg4, via iTunes. It won't play Real media or Windows Media files.
is software added to via downloads when the phone is hooked up to a PC?
No, you can't add software at this time, the platform is designed to prevent third-party application installation. There are many apps via web2.0/safari of course.
can you get satnav on the phone?
    No.

  • Nervous about getting the iPhone

I need to switch and get a phone with better service coverage. I have been hearing alot of complaints about no service after the new update..so Im not sure what to do

I have 2 iPhones and was planning a third, but have not decided to move back to Nokia. My reasons might interest you.
    1. The battery life on the iPhone is very limited compared to Nokia business series phones. I have been saved several times by being able to use a cellphone while stuck in an airport to book new flights or hotels, or just find myself away from a place to charge for a couple of days. This is not possible with the iPhone, as the battery - your mileage may vary - barely gets me through a single day. Even though I have 2, I also keep a Nokia phone handy for communication with clients by mail and chat.
    2. And this is possibly the biggest reason for you to consider something other than the iPhone. Sometimes - often in my experience - the iPhone does not receive telephone calls. It is unclear why this happens, speculation has been that the iPhone has no way of interrupting the edge radio. In addition to this you cannot rely on the new voicemail system that Apple created. It seems like it was not setup to handle the volume of calls. So - and I have tested and REPORTED this - sometimes the voicemail does not pick up and the phone just rings and rings and rings. If voice mail does pick-up the messages, for me, are never delivered in under 10 minutes.
I am not sure of the stats anymore.. I wrote somewhere on this group that out of 14 or so calls made to my own iPhone less than 3 or 4 actually connected.
The iPhone is cool toy.. but it sounds like reliable service is important to you, if so, I would definitely consider one of the more mature cellphone companies.
A new wrinkle and perhaps one of the reasons Apple dropped the price by 200USD is that applications beyond those supplied by Apple are not allowed on the iPhone. This differs greatly from the Nokia Series phones, that have a great variety of applications available. It may be that the release of Apples new OS, due sometime in October, will improve the capability of the iPhone but with Apple's silence on those matters it is a big if, and in the meantime you will be tied to a 2 year contract - a minimum of 1439.76USD - plus the cost of the phone currently 399.99 + tax. So about 1800.00USD. About the cost of iMac with a decent spec and a three year warranty.
    That is my perspective.

  • Need to ask a question about getting the iPhone 5 without an upgrade available.

Alright so I have currently an iPhone 4S and do NOT have an upgrade available. My question is how do i go about buying the 5 then? From what I know, Apple sells "unlocked" phones at around $750 (I want the 32gig version) but wont come out on launch day. Is there a Verizon specific phone that I can get instead of an "unlocked" phone that would cost cheaper and I can get it on launch day? Or do I have to preorder it through verizon's website?
Another thing is...is there certain fee's that I would have to pay to go along with the phone if I can buy it?

Pernoe: I'm no expert, but this is the way I understand unlocked phones. Unlocked phones that use GSM technology can work on either T-Mobile or AT&T networks. Unlocked phones that use CDMA technology can work on either Sprint or Verizon networks. I can't tell you the difference between GSM and CDMA... I just don't really know what it is, just that AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM and Sprint and Verizon use CDMA.
That being said, I purchased (or at least ordered... my credit card has not been charged yet) 2 iPhone 5's from Verizon and opted to pay full price instead of taking the contract discount. You don't need to buy an unlocked phone to pay full price. You just have to select "month-to-month" pricing instead of "2 year contract" pricing when you buy the phone.

  • I am thinking of getting the iphone 4s 16 g.  I am currently using a hp laptop pc running vista 32 bit.  My questions is:  what calender do I use on my PC that will sync with the calenders on My IPHONE and my 16 gb IPAD.  I do not have microsoft outlook

I have a IPHONE 4s 16 gb.  I use a HP notebook PC running Vista 32 bit.  My question is:  What calender do I use on my PC that will sync easity with the IPHONE and the original  IPAD 16 gb.  I do not have outlook express.

Have a look at this article: Syncing contacts and calendars to iPod with iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7
iTunes has the ability to sync1 your contacts and calendars from Microsoft Outlook, and Windows Contacts (formerly Microsoft Address Book) to any iPod with a display screen.
The maximum supported number of contacts varies by iPod model.
Note: iTunes can sync vCards (.vcf) or Windows Contact (.contact) files, but only from one program at a time. If you sync from Outlook and then Windows Contact, your previous contacts will be overwritten. Outlook 2003 or later is required to sync contacts and calendars from Outlook.  Windows 7 does not include Windows Contacts; Windows Contacts can be downloaded as part of Windows Live Essentials.
This article discusses how to sync contacts and calendars to iPod on Windows Vista. To learn how to sync contacts and calendars from Windows XP / 2000, go here.

  • I was thinking about getting the dsl lite ........

Does anyone else use that dsl stuff? I wasn't sure if I had to have a modem for that to work. Can I buy a a cheaper modem from some place else other than Bellsouth and have it still work as good?
    Thanks
    Tony

    Hi, Beazley -
DSL is good - I've been using it for years.
Yes, you do need a modem - the internal modem (if your Mac has one - mine don't, since I ordered them without one) is not usable for DSL. You will need to acquire an external one.
Do not get a USB modem. Broadband (DSL or cable) is a high-speed connection; USB is slow, even USB 2.0. There's no sense paying for speed and then losing it by using USB. Use only ethernet with broadband service.
Which modems you can use depends upon your ISP's approval. To ensure compatibility, I lease mine from my ISP (the local phone company, now part of Windstream). Check with your ISP to get approved models and to get their prices for leasing and buying; then compare those to what your costs might be if you purchase the modem elsewhere.

  • I thinking about getting the Sony Z3v want Advanced Calling 1.0

I saw locked Discussion from Nov. 2014 were a Verizon Official stated that Advanced Calling 1.0 will be available for the Sony Z3v soon. Does anyone know if that is still the plan. I want the phone but I want with Advanced Calling 1.0.

I saw a post on Cult of Mac that the old MacBook Pro configured identically to a MacBook Pro Retina is actually more expensive. The link to the article is below:
    http://www.cultofmac.com/173611/old-macbook-pro-cost-more-than-retina-macbook-pr o-with-same-specs/
Also, in order to take advantage of Mountain Lion features like "Power Nap" you need a flash drive.
I don't plan on upgrading any of the hardware in the new MBP, but I do plan on keeping the unit at least 3 years.
I do have an Airport Extreme, so I'll be able to plug a new external hard drive into that, so that will help.
The reason I like a portable external hard drive is that I can then take it whereever I go.

  • I'm thinking about getting the "complete" student plan for CC ($20). Do premier and After effects come with it?

It just says "photoshop illustrator and more". Does that mean Premier and AE? Thanks.

Which web page are you reading?
You get everything shown on this page providing you've got the operating system and hardware to run Premiere and AE
Explore Adobe desktop apps | Adobe Creative Cloud
Note that they are 64 bit apps so they require a 64 bit operating system.
If you're running Windows 7 or 8 32 bit then you won't be able to install or run them.
