Thinkpad 570 battery

I have a really nice 570 with charger and external floppy drive but unfortunately it has a dead battery. Might anyone know where I can get a good battery? I am afraid of the ones being sold on eBay.
Thanks,
Tom

I feel your pain. it's been years since I've had a 570/E with any type of working battery, and I absolutely love these machines.
eBay, as always, is a hit or miss. You might get lucky and find NOS (new old stock) ones once in a blue, but you have to keep looking. And, with NOS batteries, life is questionable. But I'd take that over any refurbed or no-name brand.
Good luck.

George

  • ThinkPad E455 Battery Reduced to 80% when Power Off in One Week

Previously, I have a problem with my relatively new ThinkPad E455 battery. The battery drains when the laptop is powered off (see https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-11e-Windows-E-and-Edge/ThinkPad-E455-Excessive-Battery-Drains-When-Power-Off/m-p/2105732 ). I have updated my BIOS and power manager to overcome the problem.
Recently, I was on a holiday and I turned off my laptop for one week. Before I turned off my laptop, the battery gauge shows 100% of battery capacity. Today, when I turn on my laptop, the battery gauge shows 80% of battery capacity, even though I did not use the laptop for seven consecutive days. The power drains is not as excessive as the previous one as I described in https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-11e-Windows-E-and-Edge/ThinkPad-E455-Excessive-Battery-Drains-When-Power-Off/m-p/2105732 but this problem really bothers me. Is there something wrong with the battery? Or perhaps some other configuration? FYI, I have updated the BIOS to the latest version.

At this point I have to assume one of very few possibilities: 1. The 1.17 BIOS fix for power to the USB ports doesn't work, 2. The Computrace code in the BIOS is waking the laptop up daily to call its manufacturer's server, or 3. Something else on the motherboard remains powered and causes the leakage. Our E555 isn't left powered off for long so we haven't noticed the problem. To eliminate the above possibilities, you could try removing the battery after switching the E455 off and replacing it when you need to switch the laptop back on. This would tell you if the battery discharges even when removed from the laptop. If it does, the battery is probably faulty, lithium batteries are usually good at retaining their charge.I hope that the newer BIOS version will be released soon. As for number 2, what does "The Computrace code in the BIOS is waking up the laptop..." mean? Can I disable it? It will be good if nothing is waking up my laptop when it is off.
I am considering to remove the built-in battery (ThinkPad E455 only has one battery, and it is built-in), but the user manual says that the battery removal should be done by a technician. I am afraid that removing the battery myself can cause a damage and violating the warranty (my laptop is less than 6 months old). If there is a user manual or videos or anything helpful about removing the built-in battery for ThinkPad E455, perhaps I will try it.

  • Satellite A100-570: Battery exchange program utility doesn't load page

I've read in the latest issue of computeractive that some notebook batteries malfunctions and mine was one of those mentioned.
I downloaded the piece of software from Toshiba website to check the battery and indeed it told me my battery was affected. I wanted to put in an exchange application to which I clicked yes.
However, when the page loads up it is unknown. I have a A100-570 and am quite concerned about this matter but trying to get any info from Toshiba is quite difficult by email.
    Can anybody help?

    Hi
I found on the Toshiba European page a detailed description how to use this tool.
You can find this document here:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com -> Support & Download -> Product Updates -> Product Update: Toshiba Voluntary Battery Exchange program
In the section Battery Pack identification you will find a link to the Battery Pack Identification manual and to the Toshiba support bulletin document about Battery Pack Voluntary Replacement Program.
Furthermore I would recommend reinstalling this tool and please check the internet option like Privacy and security in the Internet explorer.

  • Thinkpad X230 Battery issues

It's been about 5 months since I started to use my Thinkpad  X230.  Only three days ago it could work for 5-6 hours without charging.  I could charge it at home, bring it to school and use it without charging.  But suddenly the battery started to die in a short amount of time.  Then I explored the battery settings a little bit.  I found out it says "Battery Condition: poor" and "Your battery can 47% of its original full charge capacity."
It has warranty until 2015. So can Lenovo send me a new battery if I want so? Or is it a problem that warranty doesn't cover? Please help!!

If you are running WIndows 7 on your X230, go into Power Manager and find the Battery Maintenance function.  Then run a Reset cycle on the battery and see how it comes up.
The microprocessor in the battery can get out of sync with the battery capacity the X230 think should be available and that can cretae the sort of issue you have described.  Resetting the battery will resync the on board micrprocessor in eth battery with the expected battery capacity in Power Manager.

  • Thinkpad W530 Battery Problem

    Hi everyone,
The little latch on my thinkpad W530 is broken, resulting the battery to be loose sometimes. My thinkpad warranty is still active, and I want to know if lenovo can provide me with a new battery.
Here is a picture of the battery.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Chances are if you don't have accidental warranty, they won't replace it.
I broke the same latch on my W520, and it doesn't seem to cause issues other than the battery being a little bit loose. I just used a bit of tape to attach the battery to the machine.

  • Lenovo Thinkpad T510 Battery?

I recently (about 2 months ago) purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad T510 laptop. Ever since I got it, I have the brightness on 50%, and only use it to surf the internet. My battery life is 2:50 at the maximum.
I have a warrenty for the laptop, could I call in and get another battery for free?
It is quite inconvienent to have to charge and recharge at least twice every day. It makes portability almost impossible.
    Solved!

Do you have discrete graphics? If so, it sounds about right for an untweaked system. There are a few tricks to battery life optimization with the NVidia GPU involving PowerMizer.
    http://somemorebytes.com/wp/index.php/software/nvpmmanager/
Enable PowerMizer, and use Max power save on battery.
Also put your CPU into the lowest speed in Power Manager's advanced mode (battery only; AC should be adaptive).
    Also, defrag.

If the second battery is a *known good* example that charges in another machine, then the charging circuit on the motherboard has been damaged.

  • Thinkpad 390X battery

    Hi.
Is there any way to get 390X battery in Russian Federation from Lenovo distributors ?
Or i have to try to find it from ex-390X owners ?

    Welcome to the forum!
IBM stopped producing batteries for your machine a couple of years ago, so chances of getting a new one from Lenovo are slim to none.
Watch for NOS ( new old stock) units on eBay...and hope that the seller is willing to ship to Russia....

  • Thinkpad E330 battery

    Hi,
i have a Thinkpad e330, which is 2 years old. I wanted to buy a new battery, so I searched for a battery in the Lenovo store. The german lenovo store lists the "0A36290" battery if you choose the e330 in the dropdown list. So I bought a "0A36290" battery, but my laptop does not accept this battery. It says:
"This system may not support batteries that are not genuine Lenovo-made or authorized. The system will continue to boot, but may not charge unauthorized batteries.
Attention: Lenovo has no responsibility for the performance or safety of unauthorized batteries, and provides no warranties for failures or damaging arising out of their use."
Is the battery broken? Or is there a way to use this battery with the e330? Or which battery would work?
    Alexander

    Hi Alexander,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with battery not genuine on your ThinkPad E330.
The FRU number of the battery is correct and it is supported for ThinkPad E330, but it may differ from MTM (Machine Type Model) number.
Can you provide the bar code of the battery so that we can verify it once?
Below is the list of battery Part number.

  • Serious problem of thinkpad T430s' battery!

When I use the battery as the power of my laptop, it always shutdown abnormally before the battery reach the “critical low battery alarm”.For example, I set the power manager to sleep when the battery lower than 10%. However, it will out of power when the battery reaches 12-13%. It wasn’t a normal shut down, it suddenly goes down without any alarm. It seems that the power been cut down by someone. My laptop is a new thinkpad T430s, it seems something wrong with the battery. I try to Perform Reset the battery, but it still not work.

Hello! I'm owning also a t430s with a battery fromPanasonic. My operating system is GNU/Linux (Archlinux, with self compiled kernel 3.6.0-rc5). Are your ThinkPads include a Sanyo or Panasonic battery? I will contact Lenovo support today or tomorrow and ask them to send my a new battery from a differnt manufacturer. I hope this is just a bug in the battery firmware or hardware and not the in the UEFI or hardware of the ThinkPad itself. I opened a bug at bugzilla.kernel.org but now I'm sure this is not a bug in the Linux kernel! Seems like battery beliefs it has 7 % to 10 % more capacity than it really has and reports also to high capacity through "/sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/energy_now". The file "energy_now" reports to me 3500000 mWh (3,5 Wh) at the very moment it losts all power, which should be enough for 20 minutes or more. Further links:https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47851http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=106237http://eniak.info/2012/09/15/lenovo-thinkpad-t430s-mit-linux-arch-linux/   // german  /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/uevent

  • Thinkpad T60 battery sudden drop

    Hey,
I bought a T60 Sep 2007. Recently  I am having a problem with battery life.(My battery is not on the list of recall)
My battery life went down drastically. It used to be a couple of hours, now it's less than half an hour. Power mangment reports a copule of hours remaining, until it gets down to about 85%-90%, and then suddently drop to 5% and a few minutes remaining.
I seldom use battery and most of time use AC. Interstingly, after charging my battery to 20% or 30%, it can last for half an hour or so. So I suspect there is something wrong with software rather than a physical problem.
    Any comments or solutions?

That type of behaviour is typical if one or more cells in the battery are bad. You should look into replacement options.
What condition does Power Manager report for the battery?
    Good luck andlet us know.

  • Thinkpad T540p Battery Manager for Windows 8.1

Hi, I recently bought a Thinkpad 540p and wanted to know a way for stopping the battery from getting charged after a certain level. Its a very common feature to stop a battery from charging say after 80% and run on AC power supply direclty.
Other lenovo laptops do support it, under various apps like Energy Manager, or Power Manager but I am not able to find any such options/app on my laptop?
    Thanks,
    Shashank
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This is almost the correct solution but there are minor things that should be done before fully using Lenovo Power Manager.
As you said, begin by installing power manager in Windows 7 compatibility mode. But then make sure that the following executable
    C:\Program Files (x86)\ThinkPad\Utilities\PWMOSDV.exe
is added to the startup, so that its automatically started when system reboots.
Also open services.msc and change the setting of Lenovo Power Service to automatic.

  • Thinkpad x61s battery spacer

    Dears,
I own a thinkpad x61s since 2009, that came with a 2200mah battery (I'm not sure about the capacity, but I guess it is the one that has the smalest capacity for x61x).
Now that its lasting just 30 minutes on battery, I'm looking for a new one 8 cells battery to buy.
When I was looking for it, I found out that the 8 cells battery needs an extra (small) spacer to match perfectly on x61s chassis. It's a kind of adapter.
My doubt is whats the part number of this adapter, and where I can buy it.
    Thanks,

if you buy it from Lenovo then the spacer is included in the package, otherwise you can get it from ebay for under 10 dollars.
