Thinkpad Battery Recall Status

My battery recently died (FRU: 92P1131) on July 23, 2013.  Upon checking the
recall status located here:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=BATT-LENOVO
I ended up running the automated checker located here:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/lenovobatteryprogram.exe
The application informed me that my battery was included in the recall notice
and I submitted my shipping information.
I received an email that same day (July 23, 2013) with the following information: From: <[email protected]>
To: <ME>
Subject: Battery replacement confirmation
Date sent: Tue, 23 Jul 2013 10:26:34 -0500
Priority: normal
This is a machine-generated email; please do not respond.
We have received your request for a replacement battery. Your confirmation number is 22622096. Please save this number for future reference.
More information about the battery recall, including instructions for removing your battery, may be found at www.lenovo.com/batteryprogram.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
I tried to contact Lenovo customer support over the phone on August 13, 2013
but was continually shuffled into different departments without getting any
answers and eventually was hung up on.
Once again I tried to contact Lenovo customer support via the telephone onSeptember 4, 2013 and once again was shuffled through no less than fourdepartments and hung up on again.
43 days have passed with no update status whatsoever.  I cannot contact anyone
via telephone or email that can help me.  This is a recall and should be
considered top priority.  I know that recall is still ongoing as the
application accepted my information and sent me a email.  Furthermore, it has
come to my attention that another user has had the same battery replacement
last year.
Where do I go from here?

hello
I recently found a friend's laptop ThinkPad T60
The notebook battery is not working.
The laptop is made at a time when the batteries recall.
All parts inside the notebook indicate that it was made in September 2006.
After inserting the battery the laptop can freeze at any time. But without batteries - can work 24/7.
The automatically solution show that I do not need to be replaced. Why?

We have some batteries with the batteries error (see http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=BATT-LENOVO). We have recalled the affected batteries and get a confirmation number that was in November 2007. Since this time point we wait or the replacement battery
We tried to connect the support center at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-4HWSE3, but they know nothing about battery recall program and can not help.
Now, I don't know which service number I can call or mail address, which is responsible for this battery program. Does anyone know a contact for this battery program? Have I any chance to get new batteries?

    Guten Tag Ewa,
I just went to the following link:  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?doctypeind=100&template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FhotNewsLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo
put in the information about my machine, and went to the Product Recalls page, and there they talk about the battery recall program (which you can get in German if you like).
I needed to have the battery replaced in two machines, and it did take a while, but I kept after it and got them eventually.  Good luck.  Post again if you don't get results.

  • Bluetooth Mouse battery Power Status

    Re:
    ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse
How to check remaining power and set low power notification for Bluetooth keyboard and mouse
With Windows 7x64 running on a T420s, Control Panel > Mouse has a Bluetooth tab that shows battery Power Status.
However, with Windows 8.1x64 on a T450s, there is no Bluetooth tab or any other battery power status that I can find.
    Has this functionality been lost?
    Hope that helps,

Alkaline batteries will give you the longest life in the mice, but, you have to dispose of them properly, and, buy new ones.... (bad).
Apple sells the Apple Battery charger, that has 6 high capacity NiMH batteries for $30.00
They won't last as long as alkaline, but, simply put the pair of extra (charged of course), into the mouse, the old ones to be charged... Supposed to last over 1000 chargers.

    haole,
Would you send me a PM with your details, including the barcode number?   I'll follow up on Monday and let's take a deeper look in your case.
The barcodes and part numbers represent the batteries which could be affected, but not all with those part numbers are actually affected.  We list them for purposes of helping customers who potentially could have an affected battery to run the check tool.
It may just be that your battery is not affected, but I think it is worthwhile going through a few of these to make sure and to see what updates to the messaging might be made to make things more clear.
    Thanks!

Hi moneytoo, welcome to the forums,
    the part number is used to identify the batteries which need to be and should be checked using one of the methods described in the bulletin. It does not mean that all batteries with the listed part numbers will require recalling / replacing.  Please also see the following post which has some more information about the part numbers;

  • X61 Battery recall mail, is it genuine?

Unfortunately I'm victim of Battery recall for my Lenovo Thinkpad laptop. I used battery diagnosis tool which is available on below page and it verified that my laptop is considered for replacement(for FREE). After submitting all the information (mailing address etc) I got below email but it says contact [email protected]; is this mail genuine?

    We apologize for any inconvenience.

    ==================
why mail is not from lenovo.com domain? are these third party vendor who supply battery replacement?.
I contacted lenovo support but they say they dont know anything about it.
If this is mail is genuine then how much time does it takes to get the battery. thanks for helping me.

Unsure of, I had my lenovo X61 battery recalled, which was like 3 years ago when X61 first came out. I hope lenovo learnt from the lesson.
Anyway, the new battery is mailed to me (no payment needed, just my office address), then put in the old battery and hand over to the delivery guy. that's it.
So be your own judge, follow the mail...but there should be no payment needed....if they need serial/delivery address, that could be right. If not, the next best thing is to ask them why non lenovo.com email and ask for reference to a lenovo staff to verify

  • The battery recall exchange

If you signed up to do the battery recall exchange and had received the email confirmation of your "order", but haven't actually had the battery show up yet (after 9-10 weeks?), is there any way to find out the status? How long have some people had to wait before getting theirs?
I live in a building where the postal people like to leave packages in the main downstairs lobby without even buzzing the apartment to see if someone is home first, as well as problems with DHL and packages that don't need to be signed for (being given to the wrong apartments and such). I have had many packages go missing, UPS seems to be the only really trustable carrier to deliver here (and it helps that I am friends with the regular driver).
So how long should I wait before I try to call and find out where it is/when it will be here? And what happens if someone else in my building managed to snag it? Will Apple start to call or write me about me not having sent in the old battery for the exchange after a certain amount of time? Will they charge me for it? I am starting to worry and get a little paranoid about it now, I usually can track and expect when a package is going to show up and then I can also keep an eye out for stuff that way, but with a time window of 2-4 months or so, it makes it much harder to do so.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
I wouldn't wait if I were you. Why not give them a call?

I recently received my replacement Ipod nano for the battery recall earlier this year.  I went to go register it, yada yada and ITune wont recognize the device.  I have no idea what to do now.  I have tried 3 different cords and still nothing.  Any suggestions?  I am totally frustrated.

  • Defective Battery from Battery Recall

To whom it may concern at Apple:
One of my old laptops ( 15" Powerbook G4 ) was one of the thousands affected in the last battery recall incident.
Like many other users I filled out the necessary forms and I got the "non defective" battery replacement on the mail just a few days later. (This was about 4 - 5 months ago).
I then started using the new battery instead of the recalled one. I was supposed to mail the first battery and I never did, I put it in the shipping box and I kept postponing it till I forgot about it.
I'm sure I'm not the first one, but today I am glad I didn't.
A few months ago I got a mac book pro, so I was going to sell my Powerbook, but I noticed that this "new non defective battery" stop re charging, just like that, quick it stopped working, I can't use my computer unless I leave it plugged to the charger or my previous "recalled battery" Now, keep in mind that I had this first battery (the recalled one) since I bought the computer almost 3 years ago (2 years and 10 months to be exact) and the battery still works perfect.
No big deal I thought, the $349 I have spent on the apple care extension program will bring me "peace of mind", so I went to my local Apple Store were after running a test on the battery in question the store technician told me that the battery can't be replaced if its over 300 cycles (this number was never voiced before until he told me that the battery had around 320 cycles.
So just in case, he decided to run a test on my other battery (the recalled one) which I brought to the store with the only intention to show that the computer worked perfect with that battery.
So this test came to the magic number of 500 cycles, and still works perfectly.
    So just to remind you:
    Old recalled battery:
Over 500 cycles: Almost 3 years in use: Working perfectly today.
    New replacement battery:
A bit over 300 Cycles: 4 months of use: Currently not working.
Can someone explain to me how come the number of cycles is so close, yet the actual time of usage is clearly far apart?
Can you even reach 300 cycles in 4 months?
Let me state that I have never dropped the battery, it has not a single scratch on it, it looks brand new.
So now, I have to pay $125 for a battery that I received as a replacement of a "defective battery" (that still works perfectly) to replace this new "non defective battery that died on my in only 4 months, as a loyal Apple customer from many years (since 1995) I feel cheated, I feel abused and I find this to be unfair.
When I first bough the computer in question (brand new at the apple store) it had 1 dead pixel on the screen, 1 month later I realized that, and I took it to the store, they said "you need to have 7 dead pixels in order for us to repair your screen". Computer was under warranty, I bought it brand new, it was clearly a manufacturing mistake, and they said they cant help me, (I bought a refurbished laptop before that, with not a single problem, yet something new at the store (sold at a higher price) comes defective) how can something like this happen? I don't know, but you know what I counted it as my loss, and eat it. But I am tired of being pushed around, always that SKETCHY number (7 pixels, 300 cycles) there is always an excuse for the warranty not to work.
This is not about the money, (remember I have the "so called defective battery" still working perfectly), this is about principle.
My battery is defective you should either fix, it or replace it with one that works, that is what I have my extended warranty for.
    I am extremely disappointed.

Hi, Miguel. You make a pretty good argument for yourself, but Apple isn't going to read it here. These are user-to-user forums, not user-to-Apple forums. You need to take this up with Applecare, and keep asking to have it escalated to the next level, if you're going to get anywhere with it.
It does seem highly improbable — but not impossible — that your new battery went through 300 charge cycles in 4 months. That would be about 2-1/2 cycles per day.

  • Battery menubar status not updating

    Hello,
My battery menubar status indicator does not change while my powerbook is plugged in. It will stay at the same charge % and the time remaining stays on "calculating".
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you

I had the same issue, here are a few fixes:
If you are using a non-native screen resolution on your machine, the software may refuse to run or identify your machine incorrectly. Please select your batteries maximum capacity manually in the Preferences window.
Move"com.apple.PowerManagement.plist," located in Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration to the trash. After removing this file, restart the machine.
Mine came back, its out of whack right now... I will run it down and see if it is accurate after a full recharge.

  • Battery Recall / New Battery is horrible!!!

I signed up for the battery recall for the MacBook Pro 15" and received the replacement battery the next day. The old battery would give me a charge for about 2.5 - 3 hours. On a full charge the new battery only gives me about 1:17 average. What can I do about this?
The only difference is that I upped the RAM from 1 GB to 2 GB.

Interesting to read so many mentions of problems with battery serial numbers.
According to Apple my fairly new MBP is entitled to a new battery as the Bat serial number ends with 75B.
When I fill in the on-line form I am told that my battery serial number is either in error or does not need replacement.
Does this mean that some batteries ending in 75B (and the others mentioned by Apple) do not need replacing.
My MPB has a battery life of only about 2 hours - which is about the same as my Xp laptop I have cursed for so long.
My former ivory iBook had a useful battery life of over 5 hours so what we now gain in speed and hype we lose in lap time.
    Anyone else had similar probs?

Sounds like your battery is not functioning properly. I would first run a battery calibration on your laptop. ProBook Battery Calibration. If this does not solve the issue then most likely the battery needs replaced. Are you still in warranty?

  • Battery Recall & Stored Contacts Info

I am new to cell phones. I have had my first one
for several months, a Nokia model 1112.
The just-announced battery recall for the 1112 and
many other Nokia models brings up some questions:
    1) Is there any reason why I would want to have the
info for my Contacts stored either: on the phone or on
the SIMS card? (The two options given to me by my phone.)
    2) Is there some reason why I get a message stating:
Selected Memory Empty -- no matter whether I try to
change the Contacts from the Phone to the SIMS card or
vice-versa (from the SIMS card to the Phone)?
    3) Will removing the battery to get the ID number from
it in order to put the number into the Battery Recall form
on the Nokia website result in my Contacts info being lost?
    4) And finally, Nokia says only some batteries have
the overheating problem. Does anyone know anything
about this aspect of the recall?
    Thanks a lot, Sunny

1: The SIM card can only hold simple name-number pairs, and fewer contact records in total (usually 250 with today's SIM cards, I think). In phone memory you can have more contacts, and with more complex structure (postal addresses, business addresses, multiple numbers, web and email addresses, etc.).
2: I don't know. One or the other is presumably empty, or the phone has a software glitch if it thinks so incorrectly.
3: No. Contacts on SIM or in phone memory are stored in non-volatile storage (and an empty or removed battery will not have an effect).
4: All that's announces is on the website:
    http://www.nokia.com/batteryreplacement/en/
