ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse buttons stop working

I'm back using a USB mouse since my Lenovo Win 8.1 mouse stopped left clicking.
New batteries and the following:
I have tried a second Lenovo Bluetooth mouse new out of the box with similar results.
And I have done the delete device and add device, uninstall software, reinstall all to no effect.
Am I doomed to having a cable on my desktop or a dongle occupying a USB port?
The problem just seemed to happen in the middle of using the mouse.
I also did a Win Reset without success.

Hello,
I've been using a Lenovo N700 Mouse with my W530 and while it took a little getting used to compared to my old mouse (Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000), it's working quite well for me.

  • ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse button hardware issue

I love my mouse, but the left button has recently been loosing its sensitivity, i.e. I need to click it several times before it responds. The issue is the same on several computers running different operating systems, so I strongly suspect this is an issue with the mouse itself. Does anyone know about cleaning techniques or other ways to troubleshoot the possibility of dust or dirt under the buttons?

    From further investigation:
    100% Reproducible Failure
When I opened Firefox 11.0 with only a single tab, the window control icons (Minimize, Maximize, Close) would highlight properly on mouseover and work properly when clicked. When I then opened or switched to another tab, there was no highlighting on mouseover and they no longer responded to clicks. Other mouse actions did work properly, including window control icons in other applications I tested.
I uninstalled and then reinstalled Firefox 11.0, set it to a new empty profile, but the problem persisted. I checked for other reports of this problem in Firefox, and while I did find a (very) few similar reports, I found nothing to indicate a general problem in Firefox.
    Successful Fix
I uninstalled ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse, Lenovo Mouse Suite, ThinkPad UltraNav Utility, ThinkPad UltraNav Driver, and rebooted, which installed just the TrackPoint with the Microsoft PS/2 Compatible Driver, and the problem did not recur. I think installed the two UltraNav packages with System Update, and then the Lenovo Mouse Suite with the ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse, and the problem still did not recur. It continues to work properly.
    My Assessment
My assessment is that something subtle had gotten screwed up in Lenovo UltraNav and/or Mouse Suite, which was corrected by uninstalling and then reinstalling everything. I do not think this is a problem in Firefox.
    Hope that helps,
    John

  • Thinkpad bluetooth laser mouse won't scroll in VMware

    Hi,
I have the Thinkpad bluetooth laser mouse, which I really love, and use extensively VMware on my T500.
Unfortunately the scroll wheel doesn't work in my VMware marchine (it's a XP pro VM)
when I plug a very old usb IBM mouse the wheel does work however.
I tried to install the Lenovo Mouse suite on the VM itself but it didn't pick the mouse, which I believe is normal since VMware is already providing the driver for the mouse.
When I look in the hardware tab of the mouse properties in control panel, it list 3 devices:
    VMware Pointing Device
    HID compliant mouse
    HID compliant mouse
Has anyone a clue on how to enable the laser mouse wheel?
likewise, the scroll on the touchpad won't work neither.
I tried to play with the hardware option but nothing came successful.
some collegues have hogitech mice and the wheel works fine.
    Thanks in advance

I have the same problem. The mice work fine mostly with host system regardless to operation system(XP/W7/Ubuntu), but the scroll doesn't work in vmware. I don't think it is related to virtual system because any other mouse work fine in the same virtual OS. I think Lenovo should to investigate it and change the behavior of scroll wheel because it seems to be different to other mouse. I like the feature that the scroll wheel is working in current window where the pointer is, but maybe the feature cause the problem, the scroll wheel is out of work in vmware.

  • Lenovo ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse 0A36407 battery life

I am wondering what is the real battery life of Lenovo ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse (0A36407) ? Connected to Windows 8.1 machine. Lenovo advertises 4 to 6 months but I'd like to know the real value

It depends on the user scenario(How many hours you will use and if you will turn off the mouse at night). Based on my experience, it is about 6 months or more.

Stumbled across it on the Lenovo website recently and I'd be curious to know how it performs.

Don't forget that using a BT mouse you will be cutting down your battery life by a good bit... BT is also not 100% secure should someone be snooping.

  • Thinkpad Bluetooth Laser Mouse connection

My new bluetooth laser mouse will not connect. The green light on the mouse comes on when I turn it on, but goes off within seconds. While still on, it does not connect to my thinkpad T500. Yes, the slider button on left front edge is turned on (green square). Tech support call back is loooooog been awaited. Any suggestions?

First thing that comes to mind is to make sure that bluetooth is turned on.  The F5 key allows you to turn on/off wireless and bluetooth.  Also, I'm assuming you went through the steps to pair the mouse with the computer.
A problem that I was having at one time is that my bluetooth would just stop working for some reason.  The solution was the steps listed below.  They were copied from another post.  If you want to read the entire thing it's in this post - http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-B-V-and-Z-series/Y550P-Bluetooth-connection-drops/m-p/193192
Go to device manager (under my computer)
    Open 'Bluetooth radios'
Right click on 'bluetooth module' NOT enumerator
    Select 'properties'
    Go to 'power management' tab
Uncheck the 'allow computer to shut device off to save power' box
Hope some of this helps.  Good luck.

I tried to install the bluetooth laser mouse on my X300 + Vista 32 system. Due to some reason I installed it once and then neededto reinstall it. The driver software asked me to unistall the previous installation so I did.
Now, when I try to install the driver again, the software tells me that a newer version is already installen on my system and I need to remove it (there is no way to continue the installation, it abborts). However, since I have already uninstalled the previous driver I can not locate any unistall programm.
The version of the driver is: 6.23
The mouse model No is: 45K1281

  • [SOLVED] Mouse buttons stopped working

I have a Logitech Marble Mouse (connected via a USB to PS/2 adapter).  It has no scrollwheel, so I set up the small "extra" pair of buttons to toggle "scroll mode" in certain applications (like Firefox & Chrome).  When activated, moving the trackball scrolls the page up/down/left/right instead of moving the pointer.
It's been working fine for months, but a week or so ago, the scroll buttons suddenly stopped working.  The settings are contained at the very bottom of the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.org, and the only other file in that directory matches "ThinkPad HDAPS acceleromer data", so shouldn't affect the mouse settings.
(The buttons that don't work are "B" and "C", which both activated scroll mode:)

I've tried playing around with the button-mapping, even jumbling 4 5 6 7 to 5 4 7 6 (which, I thought, should invert the movement of the pointer), but none of this has any effect.  I've checked /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and I don't seem to have any mouse-related settings there... and I've read the wiki, but I can't see what I'm doing wrong!
    Can anyone help? :-)

I don't think, that evdev has something to do with the xf86-input-mouse. But I belive, this is a real issue, because my good old configuration stopped working (buttons aren't customized) today as well. Looks like the reason is hidden somewhere in yesterdays pacman -Syu .

  • Mouse buttons stopped working

Hi, I'm running the 64-bit version of Arch on a desktop (custom-built from components), with a Radeon HD 4670 graphics card using the catalyst-total package.
Everything was running fine until earlier today, when I plugged in my phone to download pictures. It's worked fine before and hasn't caused any problems (it has a micro-SD card that acts as a mass storage device in file managers). This time, after plugging it in, my mouse (wireless, USB) lost the ability to send button presses (or the x-server lost the ability to receive them, or to process them, or something). Moving the mouse works to change the cursor position on the screen, hovering it over different items makes the cursor change appropriately, wbar expands like normal, and tooltips show up. But clicking/scrolling does nothing.
I've tried rebooting, a full system update, and reinstalling different packages that would be related to the problem. (xorg-server, xorg-input-mouse, catalyst-total...) Any ideas on how to get my mouse working again? It's a bit hard to edit photos, etc.
    Thanks!

  • Synaptics TouchPad V6.3 PS/2 Mouse buttons stopped working HDX 16 Notebook

This is the third time that the mouse has died. The first machine I got from HP lasted a month then the mouse died. The replacement machine lasted 3 months before it died. I used an external mouse for 1.75 years before I sent it in for repair on the $200 extended warantee that I purchased because I didn't get it fixed under the standard warantee.
The repair was done in August of 2011 so a little more than a year and 1/2 later seems like another failed mouse.
Does anybody know if it's the mouse that fails or the motherboard. HP sells the top cover with the mouse integrated into it?
I can't remember what was replaced the last time. I think it took a motherboard and top cover with integrated mouse pad.
Notebook:  HDX 16, Product Number NK133AV  also known at Model 1200 series. Vista 64bit Home Premium
Discharged the power in the machine as per other posts I've read. Uninstalled and reinstalled the Synapics Driver and nothing has changed the buttons still don't work.
The touchpad seems to have all it's functionality it's just the 2 mouse buttons that have died.
The device manger shows that the mouse is working properly as a Synaptics and as a Standard HID compliant mouse.
Anybody have any ideas for a solution to this problem.  Is there anyway to test the ps/2 port on the motherboad and /or to test the mousepad itself?
My old Dell still had a working mouse when it was retired after 6 years for an upgrade to this machine.
    Thanks for any help

Hello jbarsanti.  I understand your mouse's buttons aren't working properly.
What is the product number for your notebook?  This will allow me to find information regarding your specific version of the notebook.  This document can show you where the product number is located.
Have you opened the notebook to verify that the keyboard's connection to the motherboard is secure?
If the connection is secure I would suggest performing a Microsoft System Restore to restore the notebook to a point prior to the issue.  If this doesn't resolve the issue then you may want to consider a recovery.  The recovery will take your notebook back to factory conditions.  If the issue persists after a recovery you can say with 99% certainty that the issue is hardware related.  However, all data that you do not back up prior to the recovery will be lost.  This document covers the recovery process.
If the issue persists after a recovery you'll likely need to replace that top cover which contains the buttons.  In order to locate the proper information and parts I'll need the product number that I asked for above.  Once I have that information I'll go ahead and provide you with information regarding the repair in case you need to go that route.
If you have any questions let me know.  I hope you have a great day!
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.

You're not the only one. There's no real solution yet, but you might want to track

    and
    https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26213
Also, maybe add your weight to the bug report. I don't think we've really been noticed yet.

  • ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse won't reconnect

    Hello,
I have a ThinkPad R500 running Windows 7, and am using a ThinkPad Laser Bluetooth Mouse. I also have a Kensington Micro USB Bluetooth adapter.
Previously this combination worked great.  Mouse worked fine and would stay paired with laptop, even after putting the computer into sleep mode (or if the mouse turned off after a period of inactivity).
Within the last few days, however, I have found that the mouse will lose its Bluetooth connection to the laptop whenever the computer goes into sleep mode (or after a long period of inactivity).  The only way to fix this (that I have found) is to remove the mouse from the Bluetooth devices, and then re-add the device.
I have updated drivers all around.  I have also seen the often-recommended solution on other message boards that I should go into Device Manager and, under the Power Management tab for the appropriate Bluetooth radio, uncheck the checkbox for "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power."  However, I do not have a Power Management tab for my bluetooth radio.  (I am using the Generic Bluetooth Radio provided with Microsoft Windows.)
Any help on this is much appreciated!  I am willing to buy a new Bluetooth adapter if need be, although I don't see why that should be necessary -- as mentioned, the entire setup described here was working perfectly as recently as last week.
    Thank you!
    Craig

I have the same problem. The mice work fine mostly with host system regardless to operation system(XP/W7/Ubuntu), but the scroll doesn't work in vmware. I don't think it is related to virtual system because any other mouse work fine in the same virtual OS. I think Lenovo should to investigate it and change the behavior of scroll wheel because it seems to be different to other mouse. I like the feature that the scroll wheel is working in current window where the pointer is, but maybe the feature cause the problem, the scroll wheel is out of work in vmware.

  • Something nice to say...about my bluetooth laser mouse, &c.

I would like to take a break from my rants over on "New and Improved Shipping Thread" and say something nice about a piece of equipment I received as part of my T400 order.
My new little bluetooth laser mouse really is the bomb, and I truly enjoy using it. I have never been a mouse kinda guy, preferring keyboard shortcuts all these years. However, I find this mouse to be wonderfully complementary to the T41 I use now, and look forward to including it in my T400 kit, once it arrives. I appreciate the roller wheel tilt (new school for "alt+back arrow"), and its general feel in use. Its upper surface is covered in same/similar lid material as TPads.
The tilt wheel, finish and feel in hand, these are some of the small reasons why I have stuck with IBM/Lenovo. Does anyone recall the little flip out legs on the backside of earlier laptops. I do, and always looked at the thoughtfulness given to the design of these machines as beyond compare. The spring loaded CD trap door on the Aptivas? A bit weird, but this feature gave really clean lines to that machine. ThinkLight? Shlt, when you have to take notes in a darkened lecture hall because the department cannot afford an expensive high-lumen projector, pretty much screwed when you can't touch type. ThinkLight!
    Just my two cents.
