ThinkPad Configurations Tested?

In the 27 years of the PC era I have never before purchased a computer that did not function for all purchased features. Now that I have my X61's working correctly, we love them. The problem was getting the wireless to work, which one can read in here in many posts has serious problems in certain configurations. First problem in dealing with this was that Lenovo has no technical support for new customers except to pay for support incidents. I did not have to pay as I was very insistent that they would be returned as defective. "Update drivers and call us back if there is still a problem." They did tell me some important facts about the software configuration. I found my own solution, incuding reading all in the forum which apllied.
I worked for IBM for 22.5 years, and 14 of those years in various roles dealing with software including development and architecture. I never knew a product or a product feature, whether hardware or software, that was not tested with every possible parameter and configuration, including rigorous system testing parallelling actual use, before shipment. The configuration on my TP X61 could not possibly have been tested as there are several features which did not work, some of which are now disabled. It's a great product now, but it should never have been shipped.

This forum is good news and bad news. I've decided to take the plunge into a no holds barred (ultra) portable. My wife wants a CD reader built in. OK, I'm prepared to sell a child to buy an X300. But, the good news is that this forum exists. The bad news is that this forum shows that Lenovo seems to have some support problems. And yes, I am mindful that it's not the happy campers who write in to a forum like this. But, I think I'm slowly learning to spell T-o-s-h-i-b-a R500. Pricey, but not the cat's meow. In my opinion, outstanding service should come with the cat's meow.

    Hi,
I am working on PI 7.3, doing a File to Idoc by using the AEX(Advance Adapter Engine Extended). While doing the configuration testing i am getting the below error "
Problem occurred in receiver agreement for sender -BC_XXXXXXX to receiver -BS_XX5_100,urn:XXXX.com:POC:MasterData:Article:ECC:Sender.SI_OA_POC: No receiver agreement found for , BC_xxxxx, , BS_xx5_100, urn:xxxx.com:POC:MasterData:Article:ECC:Sender, SI_OA_POC."
I gone through the SDN but not got usefull links. I tryied to recreating whole scenario, Cache refresh, but no luck. Can you pls let me know where is the problem. Do i need to do any additional configuration other than creating RFC in Java stack for AEX?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Dev

    Hi RK,
            Thanks for your reply.
Yes i have created the Idoc_AAE channel and assigned this channel in my Outbound Processing tab.
What do you mean by java channel in Inbound Processing? My sender is File so i created File channel and assigned in the Inbound processing tab.
    @ Raghu,
I have created the Receiver channel. I no need to create Receiver agreement because i am using the ICO so if i give the Receiver and Inbound interface details that is enough. And one more thing i am doing testing in ID Test confiuration.
    Thanks ,

I have a standard Ant build script for signing a jar file. I import it into my master Ant build files with
    <import file="Sign.xml"/>
and then in my master Ant script I setup the name of the jar file e.g.
    <property name="jar-file" value="${fun}/FunApplet.jar"/>
    and then invoke a target
    <target name="sign-jar" depends="jar, sign">

Since this target (sign-jar) depends on target 'jar' and target 'sign' it executes the 'jar' target and then the 'sign' target that is contained in Sign.xml.

    Hi,
Whenver you generate a Test Report from solman it is blank initially but to generate it you need to open the document and then execute this macro,
    SAP_CREATE_TESTREPORT
Have you executed the same ..........you need to adjust your macro settting for wordpad or the security settings.
    Hope it solves your prb.

  • Configure, Test, and Consume an Enterprise Service in SAP CRM ABAP 6.0

    Hi all,
Can anyone provide me any document on how to Configure, Test, and Consume an Enterprise Service in SAP CRM ABAP 6.0 (2007) ???

    Hi,
there are tons of documents about consuming and producing web services. This question has been also asked on this forum many times. Check for example section eLearning. There are couple of tutorials related to web services. I would start with SAP documentation. The web services are capability of NetWeaver so it does not matter if you have CRM or ERP system. The tools are same.

Yes, "admin" and password "****" are an example about a user created in AD1 with rights enough to create and search objects in AD.
But I thing the problem is not the user. Could it be the password encryption?

  • T42p 2373KYG shown by Thinkpad Configuration as being 2373KZG !?

Hello, the fan of my T42p (3,5 years old)  got louder since 1-2 weeks, about the time of a massive XP update. I tried calling the "System Update" program, to find maybe some newer drivers, but it didn't find any pending updates. I wondered a bit, because my last update was last year, so I searched manually and found some newer updates!
During the search I noticed that the "Thinkpad Configuration" program (v1.55, seems to be the latest?) is showing the type of my machine as being "2373KZG" (this type doesn't even exist), but the label on the bottom of my laptop says "2373KYG". Why would this happen?
And could this be the cause why "System Update" doesn't find any pending updates?
    Thanks in advance,
    Victor

Yes this could prevent System Update from pulling down updates for your machine. My guess is that either the systemboard was replaced and the technician did a finger check while programming the machine type/model, or that it was always like this from the factory. It can be reprogramed using the Hardware Maintenance Diskette (HMD). This is not a disk that is available to the consumer.

  • What happened to Thinkpad Configuration Utility and UltraNav Wizard?

I ran System Update and installed the latest Thinkvantage software -- and two existing utility programs disappeared: Thinkpad Configuration Utility and UltraNav Wizard.  I'm surprised because there was no indication this would happen.  And I'm concerned about losing function.  In particular, I found the Configuration Utility an easy way to configure my laptop.
    I have a W500 running Windows XP.

AFAIK, the ThinkPad Configuration Utility isn't supported for any Thinkpad later than the T60 models..... it may partially work on a W500 but there are almost certainly some things that wont work.
If you are happy running unsupported utilities,  its available here.....

    Hi,
    I'm working on EP12 with VC 6.00.0050.
I can import the BAPI as data service in my VC model. And I can test the simple BAPIs with the "Test Function" given.
But, in one of the BAPI, I'm required to fill in with 2 rows. As VC, by default doesn't give this functionality for testing, how can I configure testing tool for that?
    Thanks and regards,

    Hi Ignacio,
Thanks for the answer...and after your answer I gathered the courage of deploying it to portal and now its working fine.
    Thanks again......

  • Cannot Install Thinkpad Configuration Utility and Cannot Find it on Downloads Site

I uninstalled the Thinkpad Configuration Utility and when I try to reinstall the installation fails.  It no longer seems to be a download option on the Lenovo support site.  Has this utility been withdrawn and if so what replaces it?  This link
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67988
with the latest BIOS update talks about using the utility to determine which version is installed which would seem an odd thing to do if the utility is no longer supported!

  • ISE Fail OPEN configuration/testing

    Greetings,
We will be performing a live test of ISE Fail Open on our production system tomorrow night. When the policy nodes are all unavailable we want the switches to allow open access to all devices on all interfaces.
I have done some testing of this on an individual test switch by routing packets to the ISE policy nodes to null 0 to emulate a failure. It appears to be working well, but was hoping for more input from the community before my Live test tomorrow night.
First, I believe these to be the only commands needed to make this work correctly. Does anyone have any comment on this configuration? Am I missing anything? Do these timers seem OK? I'm wondering if the deadtime should be greater in case the nodes or the network connection are flapping?
    Global Config:
    radius-server dead-criteria time 5 tries 3
    radius-server deadtime 5
    dot1x critical eapol
    Interface Config:
authentication event server dead action reinitialize vlan <normal data vlan>
authentication event server dead action authorize voice
authentication event server alive action reinitialize
Next, this is the behavior I am seeing after the policy nodes go down. Is this as it should be?
    1. Absolutely nothing happens until an interface undergoes (re)authentication. All ports remain in current authentication/authorization state.
    2. If an interface undergoes (re)authentication, the switch tries to reach one of the configured policy nodes. After 5 seconds there is a message the first node is dead. In another 5 seconds there is a mesage that the second node is dead.
    3. After another ~20 seconds, the interface that was attempting (re)authentication goes into Critical Authorization:
    TEST#sh auth sess int f1
                Interface:  FastEthernet1
              MAC Address:  1234.5678.90ab
               IP Address:  Unknown
                User-Name:  UserName
                   Status:  Authz Success
                   Domain:  DATA
           Oper host mode:  multi-host
         Oper control dir:  in
            Authorized By:  Critical Auth
              Vlan Policy:  2
          Session timeout:  N/A
             Idle timeout:  N/A
        Common Session ID:  0A0A010B0000013D093F17CC
          Acct Session ID:  0x0000072B
                   Handle:  0x5A00013E
    Runnable methods list:
           Method   State
           dot1x    Authc Failed
           mab      Not run
Critical Authorization is in effect for domain(s) DATA
    TEST#
All other interfaces remain in current mode, nothing on them changes so long as they don't attempt to (re)authenticate.
    4. If another interface attempts to (re)authenticate, it goes into critical state immediately w/o trying to contact the dead policy nodes.
    5. The switch will try every so often (every 5 minutes?) to reach the policy nodes. If one of them is up, all interfaces that were in critical state immediately transition to normal authc/authz modes. Normal timers apply, dot1x endpoints come up almost immediately, mab clients lose connectivity until dot1x times out.
To emulate a global fail for the organization, I plan to stop the ISE services on both of my policy nodes.
    Thanks for any comments/insights/input.

We appreciate the detailed scenario description, the question itself was very informative.
    I used
authentication event server dead action authorize
                                           critical VLAN=accessVLAN
    instead of
authentication event server dead action reinitialize vlan
