ThinkPad E330 with Windows 8.1

Hi, I am running Windows 8.1 on my ThinkPad E330 and it seemes that there is not a win8.1 version of Access Connections and Power Manager available for this machine. Is it possible to use these utilities designated for Windows 7 or not? Thanks a lot for any reply

Hi clownp, welcome to the forums,
with Windows 8 some of the Lenovo utilities including Access Connections and Power Manager were sunset, more information and discussion can be found in the following thread;

  • ThinkPad W530 with Windows 8 x64 Pro BSOD when connecting to projector

Nine, that only covers Widows 7. Many people in this thread have reported the problem using Windows 8. Has that been addressed by Lenovo yet? Stability problems like this should NEVER be allowed to go so long without a resolution.
Edit Note : This thread was created base from the previous thread "ThinkPad W530 with Windows 7 x64 Pro BSOD when connecting to projector. As we currently Cx reporting facing the same issue on Win8 I have seperated this thread in order not toconfuse other customer. For cutomers facing this issue please continue posting in this thread.

    Hi shan_mcarthur,
Thanks for posting. I read through this thread again and noticed that most of customers here do indeed have Windows 7 installed as what the title represented unless I'm mistaken or may have missed out are you or anyone else here facing the same issue on Windows 8. If that is the case I'll be more than happy to bring this up with the teams but it will have to be a new thread though as I'd like to keep the resolution separate based on the OS use just to not confuse other customer .
For those facing the same issue above on Win8, please do let me know so we can start a discussion around this.
    Do let me know.
    Regards

  • Thinkpad X300 with windows xp sp2 gets blue screen after standby.

We have a Thinkpad X300 (with windows xp sp2) gets blue screen after standby. I mean after you close the lid then open it. Anyone has see this kind of behave before?
    Thanks,

I have found the solution to this problem - hope you are still watching the thread.
Express install in parallels seems to be the culprit. Do a custom install instead and set your own virtual hard disk size. I set mine to 12 Gb (12000 Mb)and made it a fixed size instead of "growing" or whatever the heck parallels calls it. I also chose shared network instead of "bridged" (I read that someone else had identified this as part of the problem).
After making those changes it worked like a charm.

  • Want to use SCCM 2007 to image thinkpad 10 with windows 7

    Hello,
    can someone tell me if
SCCM 2007 can be used to build the thinkpad 10 tablet and if it can
can I deploy a windows 7 x64 image to it and it I can
where are the drivers as I can only find windows 8 drivers.
I have build a Helix successfully in the past with windows 7 but I cannot get the thinkpad to work, what am I missing?????
    thanks
    Nazir

Perhaps this page from Microsoft will help understand which versions of SCCM can deploy which versions of OS:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2909893/en-us
As for the ThinkPad 10, I believe it only supports Windows 8.1 so there will be no Windows 7 SCCM driver pack for it.

  • Power manager for Thinkpad t440 with windows 8.1 pro

    hello,
I has just upgraded my Thinkpad t440 from windows 7 to Windows 8.1 pro. But i could not find Power Manager software to install in my laptop. I want  this software to manage my battery to ensure that it stop charging when 80% capacity. I think that it is useful for my battery.
Someone could help me where i can get this software. I could not find in lenovo website.
    Regards,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Starting with Windows 8, the conventional Power Manager with charging thresholds is no longer officially offered.
Here's a third party tool to set what you need:
    http://thinkutils.wordpress.com/download/
You still need to have the requisite power management drivers installed for it to function properly.

  • Does Thinkpad T420 with Windows 7 home Premium support Windows 10 update

Does the Thinkpad T420 running windows 7 Home Premium support the windows 10 upgrade? Also, my machine is very slow to start (3- 4 minutes). Will the upgrade to windows 10 help this issue?

The T420 is not supported by Lenovo for Win 10. That doesn't mean that it would not mostly work, but it does mean that you will certainly have some 'adventures, along the way, and may find that some things just don't work with Win 10 - whether those things are important few you will depend very much on how you use your T 420.

  • Thinkpad Twist with Windows 7 - screen rotation

So a client of mine bought the Twist with Windows 8 on it and really did not like windows 8 and asked me to repalce the install with Windows 7, wiping out the drives .... I managed to get all but 2 devices identified and install, one has an ID of PNP0C40 which is related to a button and the other one PNP0C60 is related to a convertable laptop display sensor.
The PNP0C60 is likely related to my problem, no screen rotation.
Is there a driver for this sensor that might work with Windows 7?
If the answer is, we do not support windows 7, could someone reccomend a forum where folks are trying to downgrade the Twist to 7? my searches come up with mostly amazon reviews.
Thanks, if anyone needs help with any of the other drivers for Win 7 on the Twist ... I'd love to help
    Ken

I was in the same scenario, my company bought a Twist for testing but we want Windows 7 because we can't train everyone on using Windows 8.
I finally found a project on SourceForge that seems to be working great.
    http://yeokhengmeng.com/2013/01/auto-rotate-screen
I had to install the ThinkVantage Active Protection System before the program would function.
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS014892
It's a simple install, you calibrate the different rotations of the laptop, read the README it will tell you how to get going, it takes 5 minutes.
I added it as a startup item for all users but I had to follow these instructions to get rid of a security prompt.
    http://www.technipages.com/disable-publisher-could-not-be-verified-messages.html
I've been testing it and it's almost better than using the built-in button because it's automatic.

  • Thinkpad E540 with Windows 7 drops Wifi constantly

We just purchased 18 of these E540's and all of them are having the same issues in our network.  They connect connect wirelessly but while doing a continuous ping I see a Request time out or a destination host unreachable every 8 or so pings.
I have used system update to update everything on the laptop, I have also done all the updates for Windows 7 and I have det the BIOS to original defaults.
I know there is talks of this "Lenovo EMC Storage Connector" causing issues with excessive traffic on windows 8.1 but we are dealing with Windows 7 64 bit and the process in question "discovery.exe: is not running nor present.
Any help would be very appreciated.
As a note I would like to point out that we have around 400 other wireless devices in our network at any given moment and we have not had any issues with any other prior Lenovo products.  As a matther of fact we just deployed 60 Lenovo N20 Chromes last week without any issues.
     Thanks

The only way we could make this work in our envirinment (and we have a big High school with well over 500 wireless devices that work without any issues), was to have Lenovo send us some different WiFi cards, They sent us the Broadcom BGN 1x1, BT4.0 cards

  • Double tapping Outlook 2010 Calendar appointment does not open it in Lenovo ThinkPad Helix with Windows 8 Enterprise

I've found out a strange behaviour of Office Professional Plus 2010 (SP1) calendar appointments in Windows 8 Enterprise touch screen device (Lenovo ThinkPad Helix): if I try to open the appointment by douple tapping, it does not open, but in many cases
the appointment is just moved forward for half an hour. With normal mouse douple clicking works fine. Office SP2 does not fix the issue. So maybe this is not an Office, but Windows problem?

    Hi,
It’s really a weird behavior. It’s not possible to write on the calendar items in Outlook by double tapping. Did this behavior change all appointments time or just the one you tapped on? Please log on the OWA and check if the appointment time changed there.
Meanwhile, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
    1. Start Outlook in safe mode and check if the issue persists. (Press
    Windows key + R, type “outlook.exe /safe” in the
    Run box, press Enter)
If the issue would be gone in safe mode, please go to File > Options > Add-ins and disable the suspicious add-in to resolve the issue.
    2. Try reset your calendar current view and check the result.
Also try to change to another view (such as List view) and double tapping the appointment to check the result.
    3. Do you have any other calendars? If so, please check this issue in other calendars.
    Thanks,

  • New ThinkPad T530 with Windows 7 32-bit

I am likely to order a laptop soon, but there are no options for a 32-bit OS for the T530 (and I'm guessing for any of the ThinkPad laptops). I need 32-bit Windows 7 Pro for some hardware and software compatibility. Does anyone have experience downgrading the installed 64-bit to a 32-bit? I've read that you can do it with the same Windows key, but I'm wondering if there are any driver issues - any hardware in the laptop that isn't supported for 32-bit.
    Thanks!

    Hello and welcome,
Yes, you can clean install Win 7 and use the existing key - as long as it's the same version.  32/64 bit doesn't matter.
Take a look at the driver matrix for the T530.  That will give you an indication of the 32-bit driver coverage.  At a quick glance, it looks complete.
    http://download.lenovo.com/express/ddfm.html
[edit] I'd recommend burning a recovery media set for the machine before downgrading.  I'd recommend that in any case...

  • ThinkPad W530 with Windows 7 x64 Pro BSOD when connecting to projector

    Hi,
    I have 2 identical ThinkPad W530 laptops model 244723G
Both are set to discrete graphics from BIOS because with optimus driver my projector will not work at all.
But how i have other issue that causes BlueScreen when connection laptop to projector.
I have installed latest driver from Lenovo download site -> still BSOB when connecting to projector.
When i install driver from Nvidia site it fixes BSOD issue with discrete graphics and external projector.
Can same one else confirm that there is a error on Lenovo optiomus driver when using discrete graphics?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Would you mind posting the links to those drivers, or copying their exact name for us to search on the appropriate site(s)?
I use a w520 (quad core/nVidia 1000 discrete graphics board) with a projector and anything that makes that smoother I have to consider. There have been posts about how to re-create the usual ThinkPad use of the F7 key for choosing projector view mode but I admit I have never been able to take the time (and risk of failure) to try the swap of internal files to make it happen. (Starting a project like that always makes me feel I have to have time to do the project and if it goes wrong re-install the OS and all updates -- all before the next time the laptop is needed for anything important. That condition is almost never possible.)
    Yeah, I know, I'm chicken! <grin>

  • Broken ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 for W500 with Windows 7 - 64 bit

    Hello all,
My setup is Lenovo Thinkpad W500 with Windows 7 - 64 bit
Display card is a ATI Mobility FireGL V5700
My graphics drivers used to be functional but now I have lost a lot of functionality (mostly graphics issues).
    My two biggest issues are:
Many video games will crash/break because of my drivers apparently
Lost switchable graphics completely (the ability to change from FireGL V5700 to the low power card)
To clearly state: It is impossible to download these drivers from AMD, AMD themselves tell you to go to Lenovo
This is because Lenovo is responsible for the display card drivers in their own laptops.
I have not modified my computer. I believe that Lenovo's updates broke my laptop's functions.
    How do I FIX this??
Nothing works from Lenovo's website. I've installed all their updates and the issues persist.
The Lenovo Solution Center tells me that everything is up to date.
Windows Update tells me everything is up to date.
I am NOT reformatting my computer, that is a rediculous thing to say when everyone is clearly having this issue.
What is the deal here? This laptop cost a very large amount of money and now it just broke itself? I don't believe it.

Ok thank you, this is likely a BIOS related issue now.
As you can see, Power Manager does not provide a switchable graphics option:
Device Manager only recognizes the high power graphics card (FireGL V5700) and not the low power card
Here is my BIOS settings for the display adapter:
         Default Primary video Device: INTERNAL
         Boot Display Device: THINKPAD LCD
         Graphics Device: DISCRETE GRAPHICS
OS Detection for Switchable Graphics: DISABLED

  • T410s with Windows 7 and additional internal Hard Drive with Windows XP. How do I make them work?

    Hi Everybody,
I have had my T410s for 9 months and I love it. No problems at all. I was a contractor so I could use whatever laptop I wanted. Now I work for a big company that issued me a Thinkpad T410 with Windows XP. Now the T410 model has a huge heavy battery compared to the T410s. An ex-colleague of mine used to have a T60p with 2 internal Hard Drives one with Windows XP and one with Windows 7, and he could boot the computer with the Hard Drive of choice.
Does anybody know how to do that? I already got the bay and the Windows XP Hard Drive inside the T410s.
    Thank you in advance
