ThinkPad E555 Ubuntu drivers?

I have bought a ThinkPad E555, which is listed on Ubuntu's "approved hardware" list. I have Ubuntu 14.04 LTS installed, but am frustrated to find that most of the special keys and the trackpad touch gestures do not work. I presume that Ubuntu drivers for these functions on the E555 must exist for it to be on the "approved hardware" list, but I can't find any to download.

Which kernel are you running?

  • Thinkpad user mode drivers libraries

    Hello,
is it possible to get documented assemblies/libraries containing Thinkpad user mode drivers for Windows? For example the Driver.Umdf.* libraries which uses the Setting app.
    Thank you.

Using that option the kernel compiles smoothly. The problem here, is that I am not getting the kernel that I want. I am just building a normal kernel.
    Any suggestion, let me know

  • Toshiba, make Linux - Ubuntu drivers for bluetooth USB sticks

Toshiba, please make proper Linux - Ubuntu drivers to your bluetooth USB sticks. I was surprised unpleasantly noting that there are no drivers available for Ubuntu. Please could someone explain THE reason to this kind of abortive policy towards Ubuntu users?

The problem is Ubuntu here. The Bluetooth adapter is directly connected to the USB bus so it should work without any problems if the OS comes along with the suitable Bluez software. Try to update your Ubuntu installation (apt-get update). Check if bluez is properly installed.

  • Installation advice, Thinkpad 520, Ubuntu 11.10

    I'm getting a Thinkpad with Intel+NVidia graphics.
Can anyone offer advice as to what to do during the initial install? Should I disable or enable the NVidea/Intel/Optimus graphics? I belive there is a BIOS option.
I have read about the Ironhide (former Bumblebee) project. Is it worth trying?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Unless you want to venture down the bumblebee path, your best bet may be to simply set the Graphics Device to Discrete Graphics in the BIOS->Config->Display setting. Ubuntu 11.10 should install and run reasonably OK using a 32-bit kernel (see a recent thread about the W520 and 64-bit kernels). If you don't mind installing NVIDIA's drivers, you could try them. You'll likely get a bit better performance out of them, but then you have to deal with re-installing those drivers every time the kernel is updated. This Debian wiki page and some of it's child links have some good discussion on this topic would be a good place to read up: http://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers You might run into this problem: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/699802 if you have a separate /boot partition, but it should be easily worked around for now. • ThinkPad x240 missing drivers

Hello! I've recently installed Windows 8.1 on my new ThinkPad x240 and I've been looking for certain missing drivers ... Those devices are marked as "Unknown" by the device manager and the drivers are most probably not downloadable from the lenovo driver matrix (because I downloaded & installed all relevant). The Lenovo Solution Center nor the System Update can find anything ... The hardware IDs are as follows:1st device:USB\VID_138A&PID_0017&REV_0078
    USB\VID_138A&PID_0017 2nd device:ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_33A0
    ACPI\INT33A0
    *INT33A0 3rd device:ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_340F
    ACPI\INT340F
    *INT340F 4th device:PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9C3A&SUBSYS_221417AA&REV_04
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9C3A&SUBSYS_221417AA
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9C3A&CC_078000
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9C3A&CC_0780 5th device:PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5227&SUBSYS_221417AA&REV_01
    PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5227&SUBSYS_221417AA
    PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5227&CC_FF0000
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5227&CC_FF00 Do you know, what kind of hardware that might be and where can I get the drivers? Thank you!

    Hello,
    Unsure about the first device.
Second device appears like it might be the iSCT ACPI Virtual Device.
Third device appears to be the Intel Collaborative Processor Performance Control Driver.
Fourth device appears to be the Intel Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework Driver.
Fifth deviceappears to be Realtek RTS522x PCIE Card Reader Driver.
Since none of these drivers are specifically for your model of ThinkPad, and appear to be for Windows 8.0, not 8.1, I would advise some caution when installing them.  At the very least, perform a backup of any valuable data
Alternatively, wait until Lenovo officially releases Windows 8.1 compatible computers and begins supporting it, and then install the drivers qualified for your operating system.

  • Lenovo Thinkpad 10 Camera Drivers?

I have installed a clean install of Windows 8.1 on my Lenovo 10 Tablet, but the Camera doesnt seem to be installed or enabled?
I have confirmed that in the Bios the Camera is enabled and that within Windows 8.1 privacy the "webcam" is set On.
My only remaining thought is that the Camera(s) are notinstalled. But in Device manager i dont see any uninstalled/unknown devices. So i have looked on the drivers section for the model on the support site but cant see anything obvious i should be installing.
    Any suggestions.
Edit : Also appears the microphone is not installed possibly? I assume this might be part of the Webcam install.

Have you installed the Intel Platform Device Drivers? See here:
    http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/tablets/thinkpad-tablet-series/thinkpad-10
Make sure the relevant set (32bit or 64bit) is installed - they include the camera drivers

  • ThinkPad E555 Windows 8.1

We're getting frustrated, we have just purchased an E555 ThinkPad laptop for a customer. He doesnt want the downgraded Win7 Pro O/S but the Windows 8.1 Pro loaded from the Lenovo recovery discs included. We have now tried 4 times via the R&R system as detailed and each time it asks us to restart the installation. Its annoying as during the recovery install you can see 'missing' files etc being reported but Its not until all 4 disk s are used that you find its not worked. Most frustrating! Is there a way I can do this with a usb drive with software from Lenovo?Need help!!!! We need a fix!!!!

I have a similar problem with ThinkPad E550. I ordered the Windows 8.1 recovery discs from Lenovo and succefully installed it on the machine proloaded with Win7 through downgrade right. But after 2 months, when I tried to reinstall Windows 8.1 using the same recovery discs, the screen showed a lot of files not found and Windows could not complete installation and the machine is dead. I just contacted Lenovo for support and am waiting. But I would appreciate it if someone could give me a solution here. Thanks!

  • Linux Ubuntu drivers for GT-70?

are there any drivers for linux?

Linux is not like Windows, you should find that it will just 'work' out of the box, without having to install any drivers. You might just need to install video card drivers, but Ubuntu allows you to do this easily.
You can boot from a CD or USB drive and try Ubuntu out without installing it first, give it a try and see what you think.

  • Thinkpad W541 : Ubuntu problem "mmc0 unknown controller version(3)"

Hello all, I got my Thinkpad W541 with MS-DOS (well there was nothing to boot actually, which was strange but I didn't mind since I had a copy of Windows 8.1 ready) a few days back. This my first Thinkpad and I am trying to explore it completely. I am a Linux fan so obviously want to install Ubuntu ( or some other flavor) on it. When I boot the machine using a bootable USB having Ubuntu image, I get the following error at boot time: "mmc0 unknown controller version(3), You may experience problems" And sure enough I do. The Ubuntu welcome screen shows up having two options, Try Ubuntu or Install Ubuntu. From this point on, nothing works. I choose Try Ubuntu option and it just stays there forever. I didn't dare to choose install option so far since I have read some posts about people bricking their Thinkpads trying to install Linux (not saying the same issue applies here, just wanted to be safe).  Does anyone have anyidea what is going on and what is the solution ? Has anyone with a W541 succesfully installed Linux so far? Best, shrm

I have a W540 and had pretty much exactly the same problem(s) as you described. I've detailed the solution that allowed me to get Ubuntu booting and installed -- and have also described what problems I now have. See my post in AskUbuntu. Being in this situation sucks as part of why I bought the computer was that Lenovo laptops would be Ubuntu compatible. .. Clearly not all of them -- at least not fully/fluently. Oh well, with the simple enough instructions to add the acpi=off kernel parameter I've now been able to at least install Ubuntu on the machine. Too bad that the internal keyboard/touchpad don't work and that there are issues with powering down / rebooting the machine (and I also noticed that Suspend is missing from the Shutdown options -- which sucks more than the two above). Step-by-step, I guess...

  • T520 drivers for Windows

I have been unable to find any drivers from Lenovo for my new T520 running Windows 7, 64-bit.  When will these drivers be available from Lenovo's website?
I've re-installed Windows (Pro instead of Home), but I can hardly use it.  There's no support for the video driver, the wirelesscard or even the ethernet port!
    * note: except for sandy bridge issues, ubuntu drivers for the ethernet and wireless were pretty easy to come by  -- i'm eager to try 11.04 to get better processor support

I believe these drivers are already available. Take a look at this URL:

  • Firefox (12.0, Ubuntu) freezes on Bing maps

    Hello,
When I try and use Bing maps (maps.bing.co.uk, I live in UK), firefox gets very slow and freezes after about 3 zoom or move operations. I've tried disabling hardware acceleration - with accel on, the whole X server freezes, without it just firefox.
I've also tried turning network.prefetch-next off, to no avail.
Safe mode does not help either.
I know there's a bug report at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=717521 but it's marked as fixed.
I recently installed chromium and it can handle Bing maps on my system with no problems.
    System:
    IBM thinkpad Z60m / Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) / 2GhZ processor, 1GB RAM / Kernel 2.6.32-41-generic, Gnome 2.30.2 / Firefox 12.0 (Ubuntu)

hello, i'm not sure if i'm reading the bugzilla entry correctly but the target milestone is set to mozilla13 (=firefox 13), so maybe it will just finally be fixed with the next update?!

  • WTF!?!?!??!?!??! Where are the Audigy drivers?? ETA?? Anythin

Funny how Logitech supports any mouse that they have ever released with frequent software updates to boot.
Funny how my Audigy works perfectly in Ubuntu no thanks to Creative.
Funny how x-fi drivers seem to be getting released at a lot faster pace than Audigy ones.
And please any fanboys do not try to give me the "Vista sound architecture is so complex" crap, im sure a multi million dollar company is able to hire some competent programmers to be able to figure it out.

Here's my impression after talking to the guy who directed me to this forum, reading this forum, and hearing the gripes of a few other users....
Creative will continue to drag you guys along about some 'alleged' support promises until they are able to completely liquidate the inventory they are pushing on their ebay store. Once they have gotten rid of that excessi've inventory - they will quietly end of life the audigy series...then you will not even be able to?pay to get?support. They may try to milk it with the alchemy software, but I think they're realizing the only way folks are going to be?obtaining what they feel like they should not have to pay for - is to steal it...so they won't make much money off the majority of audigy owners there. Sucks, cuz they at least made an (half-assed) attempt at something
It wasn't until folks complained to ebay?that?Creative even bothered to take the vista certified logos off their ads on the ebay store.....surely decepti've to say the least. They are still trying to get 00 bucks for refurbed audigys!!!!
My advice, pawn those things off to someone you don't know or like, and run like hell from Creative's (lack of) support. Think of all the things you could do with the extra time you won't have to spend reading forums or screwing with non-working software!!!!!
Oh about the Ubuntu drivers....wouldn't it be great if creative would?allow?the incredibly?talented programmers out there?an opportunity to write some fully supported open-source drivers/software? Funny thing is, if they hadn't been so adamant about refusing to open up EAX for everyone - it may have seen some support in Vista.....Creative pulled a Sony and shot themselves in the foot big time.

  • MIcrophone on HP mini 1000 not working with Ubuntu

I have an HP mini 1000 with Ubuntu installed on it.  I have tried to use the microphone, but it doesn't work...  I don't know if it just because I don't have the right drivers, or that it is broken....  So I am wondering where I could find the right drivers (Or if there is a fix), or wether I should just send it in to get fixed.
    Thanks.
P.S.- If you need any more information about this, just tell me.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

HP is setting up a URL now. Once I have that I'll post. It should fix most of your problems since all the Ubuntu drivers have been testeda nd qualified on the MIE image (including the mic). I was told it should be a day or two.
