Thinkpad Helix Ultrabook i7 Rear facing camera app

Hi all, I would appreciate some help with the following.
What software are you using to access the rear facing camera? I understand the rear facing camera is 5 MP and the forward facing is 2 MP.
I have tried YouCam 5 which works well except for not being able to use anything higher then 640x480. I need to be able to take snapshot images at full resolution.
Note: The tablet is running Windows 7 professional (Corporate SOE). I have tried the IBM software but cannot find any setting to switch from front to rear facing.
Regards
Tony

As the Helix is usually shipped with windows 8 the photo app in metro is the one I use to take photos. As for windows 7 I don't really know. I can't recall a laptop having a rear camera and running windows 7.

  • My rear facing camera app is not operating. It turns on but then crashes immediately

    This is the iPhone 5s.

The next step in user troubleshooting is a restore from backup. Connect the device to iTunes and select Restore from backup. If that does not help, then final step is restore as new. If that does not do it, make an appointment at the Genius Bar at Apple and get the hardware checked for failure. The device is still under warranty.

  • IPhone5 rear-facing camera and flashlight not working after iOs 7.0.3 update

This is my first time posting here so do forgive me if I leave anything out.
    Problem 1
I updated my iPhone 5 to iOs 7.0.3 (on 10/22 when it released). Since then, my rear-facing camera has stopped working. When I open up the camera, it's just a black screen and I cannot take a picture or video, but the other elements on the screen are still functional: changing flash from auto/on/off, turning HDR on/off, switching from video/photo/square/pano, but still the screen remains black. When I switch to the front-facing camera though, it works fine. I can take pictures and video through that view.
    Problem 2
The second problem that's happened as well is the flashlight in the control center is greyed out, can't click it at all.
    Attempt to Fix
I brought my iPhone 5 to a Genius Bar. Guy took it to the back to open it up and check if there were any physical problems with the phone and camera. He came back, found nothing. Unfortunately my phone was no longer under the one-year warranty, so in order to fully replace the phone with a new or refurbished one, I would've had to dish out $200 something and I wasn't trying to do that just yet. So we decided to just wipe it clean and restore. After we did that, everything was working, the rear-facing camera, the flashlight, things were perfect. I left the Apple store, got on the train to head home. I opened up the camera to take a picture and long behold, it stopped working again. I got home and did the exact same thing the guy did, wiped my phone and restored. Everything was working again. I held my breath though... 1/2 hour later, same problems with the rear-facing camera and flashlight came back.
Just as a note, not sure if it helps, when I use third-party camera apps/photo editors, when I try to use the camera within those apps, it freezes and closes.
I don't know what else to do. It seems the only fix is restoring my phone and having the camera and flashlight work for a few minutes only to go back to the same problems. The Genius Bar didn't help. I'm not trying to give up $200 something when this is something that happened clearly because of the iOs 7.0.3 update. It was working perfectly fine before that.
    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

WORKAROUND FOUND ! Download and install "Awesome Camera" app and take a picture with that app. After 1-2 seconds of standby, it will work. Then you can go back to default Camera app which would work again. Please let me know

  • Why is the rear-facing camera of my iPad mini not working?

The backward facing camera on my iPad mini has stopped working recently after having it for a bit over a year, i.e. when I go into the camera application the screen freezes when trying to take photos with the rear-facing camera. Any ideas what this is due to, and possible options of how to fix it?

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

  • Rear facing camera on ios 5 crash...

after i updated my ipad 2 to ios 5, my rear facing camera started to crash... the camera shutter will not open... my front facing camera is working properly... anyone is having the same problems???

Have you tried closing the Camera app completely and seeing if it works when you re-open it ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Camera 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Camera app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • A2107 Ideapad-rear facing camera

I've read two different web site specs on the rear facing web cam, one says auto-focus, the other doesn't.  As you may be aware without auto focus the barcode scanner apps are worthless.  So I'm not sure why there are two different descriptions regarding this feature, but is this a hardware or software limitation of the device, and is there a work around?

Have some modest help to offer about the rear facing camera.
I have an IdeaTab A21704 with the same terrible camera.  Software will NOT help the problem!
I removed the lens using jeweler's pliers. You might be able to do it with tweezers. Mine was screwed down pretty tight. The lens appears to be a simple 2 element lens.  I'm an astronomer so I'm familiar with different lens designs.
When you're loosing the lens, be VERY careful.  One slip and you'll destroy the POS plastic lens.  Don't unscrew the lens out of the barrel, just turn to the left CCW a few turns.  Take the camera outside and set it on something solid like a deck post, then take a photo. Look at the image with a magnifier. Tree branches and powerlines are good subjects. If they're soft, turn the lens 1mm CW and take another pics.  If the image gets worse, start turning it CCW.
You will eventually find a good focus point that is much better than the factory setting. Don't touch the surface of the lens. If it gets skin oil on it, use a Q-Tip with a "micro" amount of dish washing soap and water on it, then dry it with a hair dryer on the no-heat setting. This should make a big improvement.
Unfortunately, it will nothing about the terrible chromatic aberration / blue fringing. That's a result of the lens design and there's nothing that can be done.  We all will need to buy a different brand of tablet when we want to upgrade to KitKat OS.  Good luck.

  • Why does the iPod Touch 5th gen 16 GB, not have a rear-facing camera?

I am looking to replace my daughter's iPod Touch 4th Gen 16GB, but I can not find a model like hers that has a rear-facing camera. The new 5th gen 16GB, only has a front-facing camera, where the 32GB and the 64GB have front-facing and rear-facing cameras.
My question is, why is that?

lllaass said it, because thats the budget version, its much cheaper. The 16GB costs 229$ and the other ones with the back facing camera 319$ or 419$.
Apple always sold a budget version of the iTouch.
With the 2G in 2008, the 8GB was much cheaper than the 16 or 32 GB.
With the 3G in 2009, the parallel kept the 8GB 2G for a reduced price.
The 8GB 4G in 2010 was also cheaper than the 32 or 64GB one.
In 2012 - June 2013 they kept the 4G iPod next to the 5G.
And now the only sell one model - which is the 5G due to the fact that only this model can run iOS 7, and they needed to remove a feature in order to reduce the price.

  • Front/Rear Facing Camera

Hi - I'm looking to get a ipod touch (had a classic for years but lost it and desparately want to get it replaced).
Anyway, I would really like to be able to go to concerts etc and be able to record things on the stage, or take photos with me in them as well as using it as a standard camera, so guessing I need one with a front facing camera as well as a rear facing camera.
In the specs it says that the ipod 32gb is the only ipod touch with both front and rear - but I know that there's a 4th generation as well as 5th generation and its not clear to me which one the specs refer to - do they both have it?
Would like to get the most cost effective one out there - not necessarily the latest out but it does need a really good camera and good video and music displays.
    Can anyone help please? Cheers.

Yeah lllaass is right. I used to have the 4th Generation 8GB and now I have the 5th Generation 32GB! I am so grateful for my 5th Gen because the cameras are excellent compared to the 4th Generation. iOS 7 runs smoothly and everything is great with it. I will never go back to the 4th Generation at all anymore! I think 32GB is more than enough because personally, I use only 14GB which then means I still have 18GB left! It is plenty of space and it is $299!

  • Front and Rear-Facing Cameras not focusing...

    Hello all,
Neither my front facing or rear-facing cameras will focus. I've tried every single hint and tip to try and get it to focus including restarting and a full restore, to no success.
I was wondering if this is a common issue and whether or not Apple will repair it and how much it is likely to cost? I was also wondering if it's a fault with the cameras or something internal like the motherboard?
    Thanks
    Michael

If it was caused by a defect thenyes.  If caused by accidental damage like dropping then likely not. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and find out.
If it is only a cosment defect, the warranty does not cover it.

  • My rear facing camera has started taking blurry photos, it cant seem to focus. Any ideas?

My rear facing camera has started taking blurry photos, it cant focus on anything and just blurs. I have tried turning it off and back on, ive also done a restore and still doesnt work. If your really close to something it will be ok but anything other than right in front of the camera and it just blurs. Any ideas?

    i have iphone4 32gb.
my auto focus also not working.i was tried everthing but not work.
    -restore firmware/ios = not working
-install super camera = not working
and lastly i've got the problem solved!
    step 1:
open your default camera application and dont close it.
    step 2:
flick the rear camera using your finger at the top side and the back side of the camera lens,
and that same time too try to tap your screen to help your camera to force/help/make auto focus function to work.
and now your camera + auto focus is working!!

  • Ipad2 FaceTime rear facing camera poor connection freezes

ever since iOS 8 when on FaceTime the front camera works fine, when i switch to the rear camera it work for about 5-7 seconds than freezes and says poor connection on my recipients side and than i have to go to the front camera. Several iOS 8 updates and this issue is not fixed.

Same problem here. Using a brand new iPad mini on iOS 8 and when i call a iPhone or iPad over wifi the screen freezes with the "Poor connection" message in the middle. If i facetime someone and they are on 3G the connection is fine. I contacted Apple support and after over an hour they still hadnt managed to solve the problem but came up with all sorts of excuses such as "the newer iPads have more pixels" and "the newer iPads are more bandwidth heavy."
I have seen on a U.S. forum that this is being attributed to a software problem but this was not mentioned when i contacted Apple support.

  • I recently bought a iPod 5 at Walmart and it doesn't have a rear facing camera but this website says it should have one. Why?

    Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

I suspect you have a 16 GB 5G iPod. That one only has a front camera. The 32 and 64 GB 5Gs have both frontand back cameras

So I got the iPad 2 last Wednesday and tried facetime. It seemed to work then froze, but I gave up as it was still new and I was still figuring things out. Anyway i'd use the camera a few times (maybe 3) and made maybe 2 quick videos, nothing big. I never use the camera much. Today I went to videotape my nephew and clicked the camera screen, but it wouldnt leave the shutter screen. If i restore it to default, it works. But as soon as I sync my iPad up so it restores all my settings, the camera freezes. Obviously facetime and photobooth don't load either.
I think a few people have this issue, what was the resolution? if i take it to apple will they give me a new one on the spot or send it in for repairs, and im without it for a while?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
If when you restore the iPad to the factory settings the camera works, then there is nothing wrong with the iPad, you have something corrupt in the backup that you are using to restore your previous settings. I would delete the backup and start fresh. Go to iTunes/Preferences/Devices and delete any and all backups there for the iPad.
Then configure and sync the iPad as if it were new from the box for the first time.

Deleting my backups and starting fresh kinda *****. I'd rather not have to re-do all my settings like email and my apps. Its not that i have a lot of apps, maybe 5 or so I use, but still, its a bit of a pain. I guess I can TRY it... can't hurt right...
I dont want to just delete my backups though, i'll store them somewhere else (i think i remember where apple stores them) and copy them over later if i need to.
Worth a shot, better this then my iPhone which has a ton of apps I use for work. Im still setting the iPad up for my work stuff. Will let you know how i make out.
BTW the home/power reset didnt work, ive obviously tried this many times, and just now while writing this. Same issues.
