Thinkpad L440 - Left-Handed Bluetooth Mouse but Right-Handed Touchpad

I have my bluetooth mouse connected but I want to use it as a left-handed mouse.  I can't seem to figure out how to do this without changing the configuration of the touchpad.  I want to keep the touchpad right-handed.  Is there any way to do this?  Thanks!

Hi Brittneym,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are looking for Touchpad setting on your ThinkPad L440.
Please go to Control panel – Mouse setting and in Buttons menu tick the check box “Switch primary and secondary buttons” this will change the complete setting for left hander users, and after applying those setting go to UltraNav menu and click on “Touch Pad Setting” you will new window touchpad properties in that expand Buttons option on “Left Button Action” set it to Primary Click and on “Right Button Action” set it to Secondary Click apply the settings and click on OK.
You can give a try on the above setting; it worked with USB external mouse but I am not sure with Bluetooth mouse. Check the screen shot from the below link
Dual Touchpad setting
Hope this helps!
Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

  • TS3048 I just bought a new Bluetooth mouse but I can't set it up bc my other mouse broke

I Just bought a new Bluetooth mouse because our old Bluetooth mouse went out. I'm trying to set it up with no mouse. I can't click on anything because I have no mouse. Is there anyway to open the Bluetooth connections just using the keyboard?

You have me confused as to where the apps really are. You mention iPod and mention that the iPod isn't your primary computer. Obviously, it can't be - its an iPod. I'm not trying to be a jerk - I just dont understand what that means.
The you say that the old computer is the primary computer for iTunes. That makes more sense. Anyway, you could have transferred the iTunes library from the old computer to the new Mac, but I assume that you did not realize that.
So ... If the apps are on your iPad - but did not transfer to iTunes when you synced the iPad with the new Mac - transfer Purchases. Connect the iPad to the Mac, launch iTunes, right click on the iPad name on the left and select Transfer Purchases. That will put the apps in iTunes on the Mac.
Movies cannot be downloaded again for free because Apple does not have an agreement with the movie studios to allow for that. At least that is how I understand the way that works.

  • [SOLVED] Can't left-click with mouse (but I can on a tablet)

On a recent update, I noticed that my desktop would not detect my mouse's left-click.  It correctly detects middle-click and right-click, however.  On the other hand, I can left-click with a tablet.
How can I make it so that it will detect both the mouse and tablet's left-clicks?
I'm using evdev for the mouse, and linuxwacom-bamboo for tablet drivers.

Open mouse in system preferences and see if secondary click is on right-click.

  • Logitech V470 Bluetooth Mouse works well with Arch

I know we're not supposed to do advertising on this forum, but in this case, I feel I'm just reporting about a hardware compatibility issue.
After my Microsoft USB optical cordless mouse died, with some hesitation I ordered a Logitech V470 Cordless Laser Mouse. It's a bluetooth mouse designed especially for notebooks but, since it's a mid-size rather than really compact mouse, it's big enough to be comfortable for everyday use with a desktop, I think.
I'm happy to report that, by following the steps in this wiki page about installing a bluetooth mouse on Arch, I got it working in no time. Mark another small victory for Linux, and for Arch and its documentation, too.
FWIW, my laptop is a Thinkpad T61p.
I remember a time when you could almost count on spending a lot of time setting up most any newish hardware item under Linux. I used to put up with it since I invariably would learn a lot about my system and about Linux, too. I think we're getting past that now, and that the Linux userbase has reached the critical mass necessary so that the drivers, setup scripts and documentation generally follow pretty quickly a new hardware release.

Thanks for the help, zyghom. I've finally got things working. My experience went like this:
    (1) After updating to bluez-4.30, I created the special "trust" file in /var/lib/bluetooth/XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX/, as explained in this post. However, contrary to what that post says, in my case the trust file doesn't have to be copied over to its location with each boot. It seems to be persisting from boot to boot.
    (2) Since I'm currently using KDE4, I next installed and tried kdebluetooth4 to register my bluetooth mouse, but I couldn't get it to work.
    (3) Next I tried blueman, which didn't work properly, either.
    (4) I thought I was going to have to install the gnome bluetooth tool(s), but finally I got kdebluetooth4 to work. To get kdebluetooth4 to work properly, I had to:
(4.a) rebuild from ABS obex-data-server (at least I think that's what made the difference).
(4.b) Then I had to fiddle with kdebluetooth4 a bit, setting my mouse as a trusted device, then rebooting and redoing the settings until the settings "stuck" (I don't know why they didn't stick the first time).
(4.c) Then I had to write a bash script for kdebluetooth4 to be autostarted, which I made executable and put into ~/.kde4/Autostart
Maybe I did more than was necessary, but it is working now, and with bluez-4.30. Thanks again, zyghom, for leading me in the right direction, and for your patience with an old-timer. Now, please excuse me, I've got to go find my reading glasses and hearing aid.

  • How can I stop my bluetooth mouse from waking up my X230 while it's in my bag (overheating...)?

Even though I have set the mouse setting to not wake up the computer it still does so.
This is very annoying since the computer wakes up while it's in my bag and starts overheating.
One solution would be to remove the bluetooth USB dongle every time but isn't there a way to turn this off?
Here is the setting I changed. Not sure if that one applies to the bluetooth mouse but I could not find another one.

    'evening.
Do you have a Bluetooth Radios section in Device Manager? If so, what do you see on the Power Management tab of the ThinkPad Bluetooth item (or any other item)?
    Regards.

  • TrackPoint, Touchpad and Bluetooth Mouse

    Hi there,
I tried to get my SE K800i working as a Bluetooth mouse in X. On my Desktop everything works fine. I just use /dev/input/mice with the "mouse"-driver in xorg.conf and as soon as the BT mouse connects, I can use it.
Unfortunately I can't do this on my laptop (ThinkPad T41). I have to configure each mouse separately to make full use of the stick and touchpad, so I can't use /dev/input/mice. The BT mouse will always show up as /dev/input/mouse3.
Is there a way to configure X, so that it recognizes /dev/input/mouse3 as soon as it shows up? I don't want to restart X every time I have to use the BT mouse (mostly for presentations).
    Thanks,
    Pavel

I know you did, I was simply explaining fully (perhaps other people have this issue too and would like to know more). When I said 'mouse pointer speed' I simply meant 'pointer speed' (i.e. for both devices, not for the +bluetooth mouse+), the terminology is confusing.
The Pointer Speed slider in the Pointer Options of the Mouse control panel is not, strictly speaking, for the external/bluetooth +mouse+, but a system-wide, global option for the +pointer+.
I guess I knew there wouldn't be an easy answer. If Toshiba/Synaptics take note of these forums, perhaps we can look forward to a solution.

  • Problem between PcSuite and Bluetooth Mouse

I'm having a very odd problem.
I have a Microsoft Notebook Bluetooth Mouse 5000 that works perfectly in my bluetooth enabled DELL Inspiron 1520 running Windows Vista Business, but after I install ANY version of PcSuite (even the NSeries one) to connect my N73ME using bluetooth, the mouse starts to LAG. If i uninstall Nokia PcSuite, the mouse lags stops.
I have tried it in a different computer, with a different OS, etc., but the problem is the same .... after i install PcSuite, the problems begin.
Lately, i have noticed it doesn't affect only my bluetooth mouse, but bluetooth in general, for example: while transfering file between 2 pc, if i have nokia pcsuite installed, there is a chance that the transfer fails.
There is something wrong with PcSuite's bluetooth driver.
Thank you for clicking on the Green button with the white Star for Kudos!!

I have exactly the same problem: my Logitech MX Revolution mouse lags badly whenever PC Suite is running. I am using PC Suite version 6.85.14.1 via both Bluetooth and USB cable to connect to my Nokia 6300.
I can confirm that if 'ServiceLayer.exe' is running in Task Manager (it starts several other executables as well) then the problem occurs.
If I kill ServiceLayer.exe the problem is solved, but do anything in Explorer and it restarts itself with associated programs and problem is back - even if it is set to 'Manual' in services.msc.
If I disable ServiceLayer.exe and manually stop the service in services.msc the problem is solved but PCSuite won't work of course, so this makes it impossible to run PCSuite normally - I have to disable and re-enable services.
I have written two cmd files to disable the service, and rename the ServiceLayer.exe to something else (for some reason it was starting up again even if disabled in services.msc: it's very tenacious), and vice-versa, but OMG what an ugly solution!!
This shell integration needs to be optional: the program should be able to start without all this grief!

  • Right hand and left hand click without mouse

Hi, i'm novice in using mac. I'm not to sure how to use right hand or left hand click without using mouse. For instance, how do i click download when i gonna download mp3 files? Pls help

Did you mean how to do a normal click and a right-click?
For normal click, you can either use the big button below the trackpad or you can tab the trackpad (Note that tabbing is disabled by default, you can enable it from System Preferences>Mouse&Keyboard).
To right click, tab trackpad with 2 fingers.
    Hope this helps

Tried un pairing the Bluetooth mouse and reconnecting it.  No change.  Tried both those resets people suggested to others in the forums, that didn't help either.  Borrowed my friends USB mouse for his Mac, the same thing.  Cursor will not move, but the click works.(this is what is happening for both)

Yes, once when I first noticed it, and each time I tried both the pram reset, and when I did the other reset (holding down p&r and the other two buttons before the grey screen, and waited for it to reboot from there).  Can't remember what that reset was called

  • HT1115 Separate mouse button on 2009 macbook air is clicking on left hand side and seems to sit slightly higher than right?

Hi, i have a 2009 Macbook air, it has developed the problem above. Although it is the 2009 model it remained sealed and boxed until february last year,it has not had that much use so i am surprised that it had developed a problem after less than 1 years use.

    James,
Sorry I am so lengthy. The problem is that with the technical support guy on line, when the Mouse button 4 event occurred I described to the tech that I was pushing and pulling the mouse from the back end to avoid touching the buttons on the side and every time I rolled the mouse a few inches forward the dashboard assigned to mouse button 4 appeared and next when I rolled it back the dashboard disappeared, I rolled it forward and it reappeared and so on. Then the tech wanted me to click on the apple and go into system preferences and as my cursor touched the file menu to get to the preferences that menu dropped without me left clicking the mouse. As I passed over edit and view they just dropped down.
What do you make of that? I am presently running OSX leopard without my printer and scanner installed. If I see no problem in two days, I will plug in the printer and install it. Then after that the scanner and see if the problem happens. I will follow your suggestions about relearning the mouse though.
