  • Issues with Thinkpad yoga on Windows 7 64-bit

I uninstalled the windows 8.1 that came with my Thinkpad Yoga to installe windows 7 64-bit because there was no support for Power Manager ( a tool that allows you to charge your battery only upto a certain percentage (eg 40%) which helps reduce battery aging when the notebook is mostly operated on AC power).
Doing that required me to fully clean the Hard-disk during the installation process.
I installed almost all of the drivers available on  http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...
for thinkpad yoga and windows 7 64 bit.
Happily, this provided me the Power manager, and I can use it just as I wanted.
However, all these has brought in additional issues which are listed below:
    1. The touch pad right click doesn't work. Only two finger tap works as right click.
    2. The touch pad gestures for zoom and scroll doesn't work at all.
    3. The screen auto-rotate doesn't work.
    4. The touch screen gesture for zoom doesn't work.
I did install the ultra-nav and screen-rotate drivers, but I get error messages regarding synaptics ... not working and also sensor driver not working during the windows startup.
    Any help please?
    Thank you.

Just when I was happy that major issues have been resolved by constant updating, I am now experiencing this frightening problem. Mostly during startup, and lately in the middle of working, the screen freezes, shows very damaged image (like TV noise), produces the most unpleasant sound through the speakers and nothing works. I need to restart and hope that it will be ok. Sometimes it requires 2 or 3 restarts, going to safe-mode and returning back to get the issue resolved.
This has happened three or 4 times within 24 hrs. I searched in the forum and for another model it was suggested that epresscache might be the cause. I disabled the service, but the problem reappeared even then.
    Any help please:
This is what appears on the screen when the computer freezes and produces loud unpleasant noise sound.

Problem to come back from sleep mode  in Lenovo Thinkpad T400 using Windows XP. Login screen is able to see when opening the lid for the first time, but it only seen for a while before then a black screen on T400 Thinkpad appears. Sometime the hard drive activity can be shown also. And then, to come back I had only one option to hard re-boot.
I tried Fn+F4 and power button once to come back but no use.
Please provide me some solution for this?

  • T43 IBM Thinkpad, I installed Windows XP pro on a new harddisk, found no netowork

T43 IBM Thinkpad, I installed Windows XP pro on a new harddisk, found no network,  so installed drivers for the chipset and network. Still no way to go on inernet.
Folloing drivers i installed from following site. What do I do now:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT035703
    Oss50w – chipset driver
    7ora09ww – Ethernet driver

Hi guys and thanks for your help. Yes, after authenication and working on this Windows partition, I have less than 3GB space. Also, I cannot drag and drop files from desktop, like a text file into the Windows partition. Says it doesn't have permissions to drop files.
It looks like now I will in fact have to start from scratch and repartition the HD but put in a minimal 12GB or so into the Windows partition. Also, I tried to name the Windows label, but it's locked and under get info, it says the Windows partition is read only, ownership grayed out and says it is NT coded format. Shouldn't that be MS-DOS or FAT 32 automatically?
I have to tell all of you that this is getting time consuming, too complicated and when I get my own ProBook, I have no desire to install VISTA or MS whatever. Plus, we have to still do the MS security pack updates and install virus software for the Windows partition, isn't that correct?
Is there a step by step link here like a BootCamp/Windows XP Pro installation tutorial so I can move a bit faster on my next attempt?
    Thanks SteveB

  • ThinkPad W530 with Windows 8 x64 Pro BSOD when connecting to projector

Nine, that only covers Widows 7. Many people in this thread have reported the problem using Windows 8. Has that been addressed by Lenovo yet? Stability problems like this should NEVER be allowed to go so long without a resolution.
Edit Note : This thread was created base from the previous thread "ThinkPad W530 with Windows 7 x64 Pro BSOD when connecting to projector. As we currently Cx reporting facing the same issue on Win8 I have seperated this thread in order not toconfuse other customer. For cutomers facing this issue please continue posting in this thread.

    Hi shan_mcarthur,
Thanks for posting. I read through this thread again and noticed that most of customers here do indeed have Windows 7 installed as what the title represented unless I'm mistaken or may have missed out are you or anyone else here facing the same issue on Windows 8. If that is the case I'll be more than happy to bring this up with the teams but it will have to be a new thread though as I'd like to keep the resolution separate based on the OS use just to not confuse other customer .
For those facing the same issue above on Win8, please do let me know so we can start a discussion around this.
    Do let me know.

  • Thinkpad X300 with windows xp sp2 gets blue screen after standby.

We have a Thinkpad X300 (with windows xp sp2) gets blue screen after standby. I mean after you close the lid then open it. Anyone has see this kind of behave before?
    Thanks,

I have found the solution to this problem - hope you are still watching the thread.
Express install in parallels seems to be the culprit. Do a custom install instead and set your own virtual hard disk size. I set mine to 12 Gb (12000 Mb)and made it a fixed size instead of "growing" or whatever the heck parallels calls it. I also chose shared network instead of "bridged" (I read that someone else had identified this as part of the problem).
After making those changes it worked like a charm.

  • Power manager for Thinkpad t440 with windows 8.1 pro

    hello,
I has just upgraded my Thinkpad t440 from windows 7 to Windows 8.1 pro. But i could not find Power Manager software to install in my laptop. I want  this software to manage my battery to ensure that it stop charging when 80% capacity. I think that it is useful for my battery.
Someone could help me where i can get this software. I could not find in lenovo website.
    Regards,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Starting with Windows 8, the conventional Power Manager with charging thresholds is no longer officially offered.
Here's a third party tool to set what you need:
    http://thinkutils.wordpress.com/download/
You still need to have the requisite power management drivers installed for it to function properly.

  • Does Thinkpad T420 with Windows 7 home Premium support Windows 10 update

Does the Thinkpad T420 running windows 7 Home Premium support the windows 10 upgrade? Also, my machine is very slow to start (3- 4 minutes). Will the upgrade to windows 10 help this issue?

The T420 is not supported by Lenovo for Win 10. That doesn't mean that it would not mostly work, but it does mean that you will certainly have some 'adventures, along the way, and may find that some things just don't work with Win 10 - whether those things are important few you will depend very much on how you use your T 420.

  • Thinkpad X1 and Windows 8

Hi i wanted to sum up what stuff doesn't work on Windows 8 for the Thinkpad X1. I use a Windows 8 Pro Version (Dreamspark) so it's not the costumerpreview or such thing. I installed all of the beta drivers provided by Lenovo.
    1) Synaptic Ultranav: The driver simply fails to install. Cant't use gestures on the trackpad. Trackpoint runs but only with the default windows behavior (the scrolling is diffrently; ergo way worse).
    2) There seems to be no Dolby Home Theater Support yet.
    3) The Intel graphic driver lost it's option to turn off the automatic dimming of the display.
    4) SystemUpdate gives back an error saying that the catalogue for the Thinkpad X1 were not found.
    5) The mute microphone key doens't function -> no light on / microphone is constantly activated
    6) Besides Display brightness none of the FN combinations work e.g. managing WLan and Bluetooth adapters
Ok, i will try to install the fingerprint reader, cardreader and so on. If i find more problems i'll post them here
    Cheers,
    Karl

    Hi, maybe I can help.
    1. Use the windows 7 version- works perfectly
    2. New win8 drivers have it here-
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT074689
    3. Try re-installing them as there's been a few added very recently.
    4. Are you using version 5? (this automatically picked up the Audio Drivers with Dolby).
    5. Need these driver-
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT074689
    6. Again, sounds like your missing heaps of drivers.
Go nuts on the link above and come back to us if your still having problems.

  • Comments on Thinkpad L420 and Windows 8.1

    Hi
I installed Windows 8.1 build 9600 on a Thinkpad L420 to try it out.
Here are some of my comments.
    1) ThinkVantage System Update does not install normally, you need to run the silent mode to install it.
Once it is installed it will install some of the drivers and Lenovo software on it.
You need to run it like this "SystemUpdate502-06-26-2013.exe /a /s /v"/qn"
    Check this link: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-8/Windows-8-1-Lenovo-system-update/td-p/1233289
Check the Thinkvantage software for Windows 8 here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=migr-61432
    2) For the intel drivers it is also good that you run the Intel autodetect tool on their website.
    http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect
The newer intel video driver and Wifi are working fine on Windows 8.1
    3) Bluetooth was not working. I went the the Broadcom site and downloaded the driver from their site. After installing it started working.  (SetupBtwDownloadSE.exe)
    Issues:
    1) I can not make the "Fingerprint software". The figerprint device got recognized by Windows 8.1 like "Touchstrip Finger Print Sensor" by "AuthenTec" on Widows Device Manager.
But when I try to run Lenovo's Fingerprint software installer it tells me that Windows is missing the "Windows biometric framework".
Any tip on how to make it work will be welcome.
    Regards.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

We know about the issue with ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software and will have new software ready by the time Windows 8.1 is formally available.
But, Windows 8.1 has fingerprint software built-in so you can enroll your finger in the User Settings screen.
The only benefit to ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software, is the preboot support for T/W/X systems.  Your L420 doesn't support fingerprint at preboot, therefore you don't need ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software for L420 on Win8.1 - there is no purpose for it.
So just install the Fingerprint driver from Windows Update (I think you already did this) and use the native Win8.1 fingerprint enrollment tool in the User Settings screen.

  • Thinkpad Edge S430 - Windows does not detect external display connected via HDMI

On a Thinkpad S430 with HD4000 integrated graphics, an external display connected via a HDMI cable is not detected at all when using Windows. The system is fully updated as of the time of posting this message, both via the Lenovo Update tool as well as Windows update.
The Intel driver version is 8.15.10.2696. It appears that this is the latest version, since it does not offer an update when I try to auto-update it via Device Manager.
NB: I am running Ubuntu 12.04 with kernel 3.4.0 on the same machine, and the external display works perfectly fine with this software configuration.
Hence I think that it's very likely that this is a Windows-specific driver issue.
Would Lenovo happen to have a driver update in the works? Alternatively, I will be thankful for any suggestions about possible resolution of this problem.
